Since i dnt feel like rewriting this.

I'd have to agree. The death of Ace was alluded to back when Ace first faught BB.

If you all pay attention to the manga, while it has a seemingly omniscient presentation there is a hinted narration by an unknown person.
In one of the narrative insertions there is a use of one person perspective.

If we take this as a hint of personal involvement we can infer that potentially one of the SH's is the "unknown present" recounting the tale.
I'd guess Usopp at first cause he enjoys telling stories but if we take the language choice and context into account with the fact that Robin is of historian legacy, she may be the obvious choice. Of course I'm making the literary judgements off of the english interpitations which may have their own mistakes.
Now we can all assume Imple Down escape, The War over Ace, or the Death of WB can be any great choice of the great incident. But lets consider something for a instant.
1 Imple Down escape is not much bigger as taking out Enies lobby and waging war against the marines. Even the war for ace falls into a similar catagory.
2 WB was assumed to be lost to battle, and even theorized as Oda's cherry breaker, long before the war had gone in full motion. He's old and was hooked up to all those IV's in his introduction. Plus Oda would never have a build up for something so obvious. Duval anyone?
3 Think of luffy's position and aspirations. He wants to be Pirate King. So far he's been very care free with no real desires but to have adventures and think being King means being the most free. He has almost no association with the term pirate being a a lable for a bad person. And here the Marines are oppressing pirates for being pirates and allegedly killing luffy's brother right in front of him. As fire fist states its all those trails and tribulations to get to this point and while you as a reader may feel "whats the f-ing point" since all of what we read was really for "nothing" that is the entire POINT of those struggles. Put yourself in luffy's position as if he were a real human and imagine what he had to go through to be where he's at. Having gone through many risks and voeing that he'd rather die then not be able to save his brother only to have that same brother die saving his life instead. And in all that, in all of his full hearted trys going past his limits being still too weak to do a thing. And in OP time this is only a few weeks - month of experiencing a similar instance with his own crew and Kuma.
And lets all remember folks. We still havent gone through mermaid island so technically we are still not 'officially" half way there.
After all that talk of the new world being serious busniess and how difficult it will be, isn't it fitting that Oda does away with his childishly naive ideologies and open luffy's eyes to a harsher reality. :wassat::wassat:
I'm pro Ace-death. It'll make for great development. And Oda has always been a wonderful story teller.
On a side note, Ace isn't a main character but a supporting/secondary character making him prime meat for death. Pell was just a situational character. Designed for a single purpose.
[Edit] I fixed most spelling errors but i'll ignore the sentence strecture problems since this isn't english class. xD

I know everyone is wrapped in the whole "will the dead stay dead" thing. But since i believe that oda wont pull a fast one over this i'll like to bring up a few things.
1 Luffy and crew already has a few islands who know of him and his positive deeds giving him a great positive following.
2 People have been learning about his crew through rumors and media even though its an image of the SHs as being evil pirates. So any one who hasnt seen them in person may believe the rumors of them being evil and terrible people.
3 The public has seen all of this at the start and now at the finale. They have seen Sengoku reveal Luffy being the son of dragon. Ace being the son of Roger. And both of them being brothers. They seen luffy rushing to save ace like a mad man. And WB being stabbed. And now they see Akainu confessing he lied about squado and killing the freed Ace who died saving the life of his brother. Who went through hell to try to save him.
So not only will luffy be effected personally from the experience. But he will have a global following in the OP universe. Not only has he been the number one rookie. Doing crazy things and declaring war on the WG. But he will now be known internationally as Luffy, Son of Dragon, Brother of Ace. Captain of the SH pirates.
Does any one else get chills imagining the effect that will have on the story. The fact that he'll have a REAL following. Not just a reputation based on rumors and word of mouth.
And I'm personally wondering how many of the other Straw Hats are aware of whats going on.
