Nightmare Luffy arrives saves Nami and Usopps's life in the process by the way along with the other strawhats who were on the floor passed out and rapes completely the Moria + Oz combination which regular Luffy could not have done.
Moria is knocked out which allows the strawhats and Luffy to deal with Oars alone. Oars is out.

If they died Oars couldn't have been frozen, meaning they wouldn't have been able to keep him in place while Luffy broke his back. Oars and Moria could then rampage around till the sun came up.

-first of all moria also got punched by NL, which sure didnt defeat moria but morias stamina went a little down (seeing that moria was unconscious for a while, so it HAD an effect)
-it was necessary, cause luffy had to take shadows to turn into Nightmare Luffy.
by that he learned how hard it is to control them when you have them inside your body…
so luffy had a huge advantage in knowing how moria has feeled in his asgard-form...with that knowing luffy specifically attacked moria`s stomach, cause with those attacks he knew that moria would have a hard time to hold the shadows inside him, which gave luffy many time to prepare his next attacks.
-NL also forced moria to overreact...he wanted to pay everything back to luffy so he overdid it with taking all the shadows from the island...that actually weakend him, cause so he was a bigger target and like i said above had a hard time to control so many shadows all at once.

It's because on OMF they have the biggest Boa Hancock fanbase that can't even accept Zoro can get help from Perona, because they suspect that some random unknown character is going to show up with a BOAT, etc. to save the day.

Subjective, and also fails to note that zombies don't feel pain, therefore Nightmare Luffy did absolutely nothing to Oars, as he was able to get up and function perfectly normal afterward.

You guys are all missing the point, haha. Nightmare Luffy's purpose – plot wise -- was to provoke Moria into proving he was superior to Luffy, which allowed all of the shadows to be released. Without that provocation, Oda would have had to write another scenario where Moria would willingly bring back or release all of the shadows he had. It just works better, and looks cooler, with Nightmare Moria in the mix. Take out Nightmare Luffy, and the primary changes are that Luffy is still at full strength, Oars can still stretch, and they still need to find a way to get Moria to release all the shadows.

There are multiple reasons that could possess a person to continue. They could try explaining their point differently if they feel it isn't being understood. They could just enjoy the process of debating. They could be allowing themselves to be provoked by something. They could try to make responses that are funny, you get the idea.
Bottom line, most people are here for fun. As long as they're getting some measure of enjoyment out of their posts, that will be their reason to continue. Nobody is being forced to read it, that's for sure.

moria did gather all his shadows AFTER NL was gone…so sure it was good for the plot that moria takes all the shadows but it has nothing to do why NL was necessary to defeat him..
