tbh I remember fillers that I considered superior to some of the canon material…
Don't Stop… Dattebaaayo! Naruto VII
-
-
More filler?I was hoping there woudnt be any major filler untill they did pain arc since the opening showed clips of it.:(
-
I see utakata in the preview, always wanted know about him.
-
Better they have fillers NOW when they can make up isolated standalone stories than DURING the Pain arc.
Seriously. Filler is always better, in any series, when it has the leeway to tell some sort of self contained tale with whatever characters it chooses, including new ones. When filler takes place during epic long drawn out battles (such as Dragonball's Frieza saga) where only a couple characters are at the scene and the plot is focused on just two characters battling… the filler is always incredibly draggy and slow.
You get tons of characters standing around going "woah, they're strong!" episode long transformations/power up of attacks, recaps of things you just saw, and things like Bulma has Crabs, and Bulma switches places with Ginyu. (I'm just using the Dragonball example because I assume everyone is familiar with it. This also applies to OP, Bleach, Naruto, etc.)
Unless you really want more shots of people standing around going "We can't help Naruto, we'd just get in his way" ?

I know what you mean, some op eps drag on and bleach always has like 7 minutes recaps and naruto got like more than 100 filler episodes:ninja: and dbz… just thank the lord for db kai.
-
I just remembered that when i started watching anime(naruto was my first)i didnt know about manga and filler so i was trying to fit the 100 extra episodes into the storyline. Then when i saw naruto throwing the rasengan i was like "cool a new powerup",then later on there were intances which made me go "hmm.. why didnt he throw it?"

I'm watching it now and damn I'm loving killerbee even more
edit: I'm half way through the episode and KB is too badass for words!
EDIT: SUIGETSU GOT DESTROYED!!!!!!Killerbee freaking took Sasuke apart. LOL The way he was fighting with the 8 sword style was way better in the anime then the manga. The best part is when you see Sasuke eyes trying to keep up with all the swords lol. Killerbee is just too damn good.
-
I think this episode made me realise how great the future fights could be.
Naruto VS Pein
Sasuke VS World (especially Raikage)
Sasuke VS DanzoThey all have great potential to regain respect.

Naruto vs Pain will be epic. I hope the filler isn't too long.

Link me to this filler.
I'm actually longing to see all the side-characters have their moments in the Pein arc.
-
It's bizarre. I enjoy the Naruto filler because, as aburd or downright stupid as some of the actual plots, or executions thereof are…. It does show the side adventures, the daily life, the smaller ninja missions... and the side characters. It fills in the big hole the manga leaves.
(And lets face it, the manga itself has had some pretty absurd plots.)
Bleach also has some really good filler, where, if you aren't following the manga, is sometimes hard to distinguish from the main plot because its done pretty well... when its not during an arc. (I thought the bount arc was legit for quite a few episodes when I first saw it.)
-
but it should be the other way around.
-
Just watched the bit of episode 142 with the Hachibi fight…
...he's amusing as ever, but the animation quality is fucking TERRIBLE.
I mean, Bleach is on the same channel and has the same studio doing it, but its art quality never gets this bad.
-

They only have a trailer so far.
oh well atleast we get to see the tail beast. -
You obviously didn't watch it then. Thanks Juju.
Episode 142?
Where they first pick a fight with His Mighty Blackness?
And he embarasses them by playing hulahoop with Zabuza's corrugated sword?
Shit looked terrible artwise.
I'm still downloading 143, so that might be where it actually starts to look nice, but the overall quality in 142 was not good.
-
Yeah, I watched the end of 142 too, and it was pretty stiff and awkward. I mean, people who constantly gripe about the One Piece anime's animation quality clearly haven't seen what some other shows get stuck with.
-

The complexity of drawing Killer Bee's sword style deserves massive credit.
-
This was the episode before that. Episode 142.
I'm assuming that the episode with his swordery is episode 143, which I can't comment on yet because I'm still downloading it.
-
The naruto anime does tend to be smart about saving their money for the epic fight scenes. The Rock Lee fight still holds up. And even the Naruto/Sasuke fight looks pretty good.
Can't comment on Shippuden, I… really haven't watched any of it.
-
This is the first time i have seen someone say they like naruto fillers.I thought the 3 tails arc was terrible.
-
@robbybedfart:

Pretty good? Episode 133 is the best TV anime animation I've seen ever (though I don't really watch that much anime…). XMURADX and I talked a month ago about just how amazing that fight was animated.

@Frozen:
I thought the 3 tails arc was terrible.
I had a large aneurysm shortly after watching it.
This new filler looks promising though.

yep yep and shikiamaru and Kakashi vs kakuzu and Hidan was great. Proof=

I'm not vouching for every single Naruto filler, not by a long shot. I'm saying that what it DOES do, show the smaller quests and character interactions and focus on the secondaries, is great because thats an aspect the manga itself completely neglects. Even if the execution is flawed, the attempt to do those things is nice.
(Even at the start Naruto complained about "all the boring missions we've been on" before being thrown right into nothing but S class missions… without us ever seeing the simpler missions. Fairy Tale has the same problem.)

shrugs I watched that fight once. At that point I caught up to the manga (riiight when Part 2 started, lucky me…) and the anime stopped having any sort of priority. I'll take your word for it being amazing.
I've seen the Rock Lee fight a couple times though. (And countless times in amvs...)

That 2 episode Hinata filler provied more character for her than the rest of the manga put together.

Oh yeah. I remember absolutely LOVING the fact that they were fighting on water, and doing it so casually and without it even being their main focus. Given that training to do exactly that had been a huge focal point up until then. It was a natural progression and… PAY OFF.
Was nice when the series had some of that.

Which filler was this? (As I've said, I've paid minimal attention to the anime for a couple years now)
-
Naruto's Salmon no jutsu is hilarious.

ugh, I had to browse through a ton of shit to remember what they were.
It's the one where Naruto and Team 8 are on a mission and they get attacked by bug people. Que Hinata soloing the entirety of their group with a fairly original technique.
Episodes: 149,150 and 151

saddens me to know that jutsu isn't canon.

I think i still like this fight the best(after not having seen this for several years, i have to say that it was a lot better in my memory ;))

This chapter in a nutshell: snooooooore
Oh, and Karin is still useless.
-
What was with the random flashes of that one guy's face near the beginning?
I remember this one show I used to watch on Encore Action when I had cable. Forget what it's called though. It was about a serial killer that killed women one the subway and they had a psychic detective track him down. I think it's a spin-off of X or inspired it or something.
Also Grappler Baki. This one guy tapped behind Baki's ear and it started to gush blood .
Edit: The show's called Tokyo Babylon. Strange, it says it's Shojo. Didn't seem like it at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think she has surpassed useless and now we have to invent a word for something that entirely has no point existing and sucks so bad that it forms a black hole that no reason or logic can escape.

Lol, I think we are on the verge of the universe collapsing trying to use one useless character to describe another, it would never end…

Nothing beats the movies that built the foundations of animé fighting.

I'll just leave this here.By the way. I'm watching an episode of Masters of Horror (look it up, it's awesome. They even have an episode based off Lovecraft's story Dreams in the Witch House) called "The Dance of Death" and the 2 main characters of the episode look an awful lot like Jacob and Bella from Twilight. No kidding.

Hey folks, as I point out whenever the youtube count gets high on a single page, use tags. Some browsers and some computers (or cellphones or what have you) have a lot of trouble when there's a whole mess of youtube videos. (and especially after people start quoting them and getting doubles of the SAME video.)
It takes two seconds to put a hide tag on and half a second for someone to click the reveal. Its just a courtesy, is all.
Love that movie. yy
…I'm starting to find common ground with Juju. I'm scared.
But yes, Drunken Master 2, one of Jackie's best.
