@Don:
right forgot about him…
but another question.
is the 4th division commander placed filled again..
the guy BB killed (sato orso) had this position...and now?
http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-551/page015.html
Someone says that the 14 commanders are aboard. 16 commanders - Thatch (dead) and Ace (captured) = 14 commanders. Thatch has not been replaced.
Or Thatch has been replaced and somebody else died. Unlikely but you never know.
Vista in spanish is Vision. And someone who has a good vision have a hawk eye or eagle eye. This fight is very ironic.
http://www.geocities.com/valtersf.geo/translate/en-lv/vista-latvian.html
The hawk and hen part is ironic too :D Both birds.
@Usopp:
It can't be a coincidence a guy named 'Vista' shows up the day that the successor to windows vista was officially released.
Ok this OS stuff is just getting stupid, vista was a word long before Windows Vista, it can refer to sight in spanish or a view or prospect, that joke (while funny the 1st dozen times) just showed that too many think that MS invented the word. Vista's moniker "Floral blade" is more interesting anyway, I wonder how/if plants or flowers will play a role in his fighting style?
Or Thatch has been replaced and somebody else died. Unlikely but you never know.
Thatch was only killed very recently in the OP timeline. Just after Luffy got his first bounty. He was never replaced.
I know that you people may be bored to death with this, but why do people assume that Luffy suddenly seeing the supposed consequence if he stretched his arm considered Haki?
Also, the Haki-wanking is … I don't know, rampant?
The snake sisters used a similar prediction technique to Luffy not that long ago, thats why people think its haki.
Croc's still a badass. Told Flamingo to Fuck Off and then blew him and Jozu away at the same time. Good to see that Kizaru wasn't standing around since he was shown fighting in against some spear guy in one of the panels. Aokoji had half his face in ice show he's probably in the middle of a battle as well. Which would explain why the Admiral's haven't been trying to own Luffy since they're busy doing there own things.
Of curse they were fighting, wat do you think this is? Bleach???
Still no sight of Moria… Was he really owned that hard? xD
Many people will enjoy if Moria was actually KO, that small Jimbei panel isn't of much help, he is provably still fighting Moria, the same way Somker is fighting Hancock and Mihawk is fighting Vista, maybe for now on we will not see that much of these people…Croc needs another oponent now (Maybe Doflamingo will come unharmed next chapter claiming Croc ass)

That's why people think Luffy used haki, the same technique the snake sisters used.
I don't think we can surely say that this was haki or not.( I think it wasn't haki, luffy just because of his experiences guessed it.) But I'm sure we will see Luffy's Haki just before ace is about to be executed.. When the time comes and Luffy is still away from Ace, all the memories of Luffy not being able to save his nakama in SA and now not being able to save ace will come to his mind and BUMMMMMM. He will yell I said STOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!! :) And sengoku will die right there with everybody else :P Ok I'm sure that won't happen..
why is the strongest man standing and watching while his allies fight?whitebeard show us your strenght before the war ends, please:sad:
Do you not see all the collateral damage from the strongest Swordsman? Expect the similar from the strongest man except he can't pinpoint his attacks to avoid every fighter besides his target.
Can't WB just crack the metal parts of the PX's using his DF power? didn't he crack someone's weapon back in one of the chapters?
mihawk actually helped wb, that iceberg destroyed a line of marine ships.
@JaN:

He will crack all the PX's in the next chapter and thus we will jump to the final stage of the battle :ninja:
I think he could…
The best part of this chatpter was mihawk cutting the ice wave and the pacifista cliffhanger.

It would be great to see one of the Marine's trump card get destroyed so easily :)
Just shatter in that cool pose..

?????
Ok lets see he can knock out an entire stadium of Amazon women with the same power that Hancock has.
He can Bio Feedback like Kumadori = Eat large amounts of food and convert it into energy instantly and not have it all in his stomach.
And he (MAY) have been hitting Crocodile with it believing his blood to be enough - which I think wouldn't have been to be honest.
So he being able to predict moves is not beyond the realm of possibility I am certain that Luffy's Haki awakens when it is needed to he has had plenty of other opponents predicting his moves and he is currently surrounded by some powerful people maybe all that rampant Haki is awakening his dormant abilities.
Lets be clear it is already established Luffy has Haki regardless if you want to cry foul or not - he has it just can not use it to full potential.

You didn't even answer his question.
MiHawk? pfft… I wanna see more of Tsuru! :D
Cool chapter. I'm still trying to make sense of the supposed Haki usage and Gum Gum Bazooka. From my eyes it looks like Mihawk almost intimadted Luffy with his Haki. Mihawks eye panel right before Luffy gives up the bazooka, and then commenting that Luffy is unusual calm, gives me that idea.
The ice berg cut and the standing on the sword in a downward stab link Link from Zelda was awesome.
The pacifista armor seems changed.

I think that was a bad translation

"clear headed" is the term used now. I would guess Luffy used Haki just because he predicted Mihawks next move.
Is it just intuition or is it Haki? Not that it's completely separate at all levels…
I was wondering, but does any other manga character other than Hawkeyes lampshade the charismatic trait all shonen protagonists share?
I don't think it was that it was Haki that made Luffy hesitate against Mihawk. I know Luffy's an idiot, but he even knows that now is a bad time to play "elemental weakness (sharp object vs. rubber)" against the world's best swordsman.
The reason I think it is haki is because it showed in his mind a vision of Mihawk cutting off his arms. It seemed like more than normal "I'm rubber that's a sword" logic.
Luffy after 560 chapters gained some battle exp. thats all.
Is it the first time Oda showed luffy thinking before attacking? I mean the first thing i thought aafter seeing that was "good move luffy" cause that's exactly what i thought would happen to my arms if i attack like that. Not any haki related stuff.
Well we don't know either way.. I just can't wait to see the new bounties for the crew when all this stuff is over and done with. I hope the other members do some more stuff to get better recognized.
Luffy after 560 chapters gained some battle exp. thats all.
Luffy has always had battle experience. He has gained common sense, which he lacked.
Btw I wonder how Zoro will react if Luffy tells him about his little fight with Mihawk.
It doesn't matter if Luffy's arms are rubber or normal. Mihawk's sword cuts things without even touching. Except something as hard as diamond, and maybe other gemstones.
Btw I wonder how Zoro will react if Luffy tells him about his little fight with Mihawk.
He probably thinks that Luffy is lying at first since he still all of his limbs intact.
well in the anime they can so off everyone for a nice while. fight filler isn't always that bad. man those are a #$% load of kumas.
well, i don't think luffy retracting his jet gatling the last minute and seeing his arm cut off was haki.i think it's more of a ssplit second "forethought" gain through experiences of numerous battle.
Luffy knows that so many fighters in the war are stronger than him. He's being a lot more cautious. Not haki, cautiousness.
Previous luffy= careless moron, the current = clear headed, it has nothing to do with haki, honestly haki is getting old. It's clear that every time haki is used we get luffys face in one page or double spread of the scene.
Pacifistas have changed the tide, I wonder what the result will be. We can't underestimate them, I'm sure 2 of them are enough to take on shichibukai, after all 1 of them required the whole of SH crew to fight to exhaustion. Can you even imagine how many of fodders it would require to kill 1? You can't cut them with low-mid tier skills, they can damage anyone, luffys giant rifle wasn't enough to one shot it. To put it simple imagine army 20 times (from the looks of it they are around 20 if not more) stronger than SH crew.
What I wonder is whether or not the pirates will be annihilated, or will WB finally enter and change the tide of the battle again. So far WB whom i believe has the abillity to change the tide, has been barely active, the pirate elite have yet to defeat a significant player, and they have lost Oars, Ace is captured, they need to get a kill on either admiral level or shichibukai. What has happened though is shichibukai and former shichibukai canceling out eachother, commanders and admirals/shichibukai canceling out eachother, it's about time we get defeats.
Not sure if this was brought up but what if the Pacifista are one of the ancient weapons, & WG finally was able to dechiper a piece of the ancient tablets to create them. With the assistance(maybe by force) of Dr. Vegapunk and an unknown person from Ohara to decipher the messages they are creating this massive army.
Again stupid theory but something that would be cool.
If the WG had someone who could read the poneglyphs, why would were they so desperate to get Robin to do just that?

Ohara was wiped out, Robin is all that remains of Ohara & their scholars. The Pacifistas are a new creation, of Vegapunk.

Your signature is epic.
Luffy is currently on streroids, he can remember what Kuma said to him and a lot other things. Iva's steroids ftw
The reason Luffy was clearly using haki (not on purpose) is that if you look at his facial expression and what he says afterwards, it's not the way you would react and say if you had anticipated it with your brain. He's more likely shocked from seeing the "image" of his arm cut off, which is why he says "you WOULD HAVE cut me"..
Also, notice the "!!?" on the image where he sees his arm being cut off. Imo thats the best proof that he inadvertently used haki.

Thats actually a good point.
Or Mihawk inflicted the fear onto Luffy which I think makes more sense seeing as the panel before that is a zoom up of Mihawk's eye.

That and the point of Oda showing the image of Luffy's arm being cut. He could of easily had Luffy just stop the attack and then comment after saying I could've been cut. Which would've given the readers the thought that Luffy just decided not to attack becuase he would've got cut. But for some reason Oda all of a sudden showed a image of Luffy's arm being cut with Luffy reacting to it with the shocked !!? look. So Oda wanted the image to signify the reason why Luffy stopped the attack mid-attack.

I agree with this side of the theory more.
Perhaps Mihawk did that on purpose as he doesn't really want to harm Luffy…
