The site was originally created by the long missing AfterShock and the incorrigible EvilGamerX (who you may have seen on these boards). The site was always the place to get the raws and often had up to date info. This was before the days of wiki, mind you. I was the third or fourth to join the staff (long-forgotten Matt was third I think?).
The forums were created when we brought ocean into the staff around two years after the site was created. Much discussion was happening in our update comments, so the idea to include forums was brought up. It was a well received idea and went through a few incarnations before it is what you see today.
The site nowadays is completely different, and I don't care for it at all, to be honest.

Getting rid of inactive members is probably a good idea, but this place has become less of a tight-knit community and more of a Grand Central Station, so that wouldn't work without sending people into a pissfit.

On another V-bulletin Powered site I'm on, they award long standing members a key into the platinum section. This is basically a small section where the platinum members can hang out and express ideas, chat, make smaller threads, and basically be a small community of decent site supporters, which is a kind of bonus for the members as they don't have to sift through so much spam to find the diamond posts.
I know chances of this being implemented are zero, but its worth a try ;)

The content is fine, I don't care for everything else. And the news updates are only regarding new chapters or whatever, as opposed to content updates. Wiki blows for the most part.

I do remember! Yeah, I actually did play CS for awhile, our schedules probably didn't match up though. We might have been in the same game once but I'm not sure.

No idea. To me, stephen is the only real worthwhile translator, so I never noticed anyone else.

Not so much, but I'm still here and contribute to decision making behind the scenes. Well, to the forum anyway. I haven't done anything for the site since before the wiki days. I'm usually hanging around other places on the internet, but I'm mostly busy with activities outside of the internet. e1n has been the most active, I would say, and I'm happy he's got the time to do so.
