no offense but doesn't this thread belong in the threads which don't deserve their own threads
or is your thread more deserving because your a mod?

Can i say, it's a question i had. I don't think it should be hidden away in this thread and there's a lot worse threads out there. Also i'm not a mod, at least i don't think i am, no ones ever told me of the fact :o)
I just find it odd, that a guy that can level a whole ship of people doesn't use the power to save someone he cares about and that inadvertently costs him his arm. I believe, given my experience of Oda, that it will could be a monumental turning point in Shanks' approach to life (revealed in a future arc) and given that, what seems pretty lame, insignificant and not worthy of it's own thread now, could be worthy of a few in the future.
People are too quick to moan about threads instead of either joining in with the thread or ignoring it. that's the beauty of a forum, you have that option.
Bingo! I got it.
Perhaps at that point in Shank's career he wasn't fully in control of said ability. Much like Luffy is now, it was an ability that just started to manifest itself.
He wasn't a Yonkou at the time (unless the bandits were just really thick, and the World Government didn't mind one of the Yonkou hanging out outside the Grand Line). So it's highly probable that they weren't nearly as strong as they are now.
dude i just had the sickest idea ( in my opinion ),,,,,,,,,,wat if during the execution/jailbreak luffys and whitebeard/crew had a major accident/attack that inadvertently free's all of the prisoners, we could see the comeback of some major characters and the discovery of people neva seen b4, i would fekin love to see all the old enemies escape aswell as som people that would shed light on some of the mysterious facts that remain secret.yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

It's been thought of, well kind of. Back when Luffy found out Ace was in trouble I speculated that ID would somehow by WB's crew or Luffy or maybe even Dragon either be destroyed or everyone would be broken out(either way dangerous prisoners escape).
The destruction of ID or escape of all it's prisoners would be the big event that the BB vs. Ace fight caused!!!!!!
Then have some big named dangerous bastard who's been locked up in the highest security in ID be a major threat. Make the person a D. as well….....

Are we assuming that he wasn't in control of his haki at the point he lost his arm? Or are we assuming that the mountain bandits were 'immune' to 'haki poisoning'? For surely if when Luffy was being held hostage, Shanks' and a few others, done an almost chemical warfare style bombing of the atmosphere with haki, it would've never lead to him losing his arm?
Luffy was still a kid back then, and standing right in front of that bandit captain. I suppose Shanks didn't want to risk the kid's brain exploding from his haki or something. We saw what happened to all those people at the auction house.

Which leads back to whether or not you can aim haki…because I doubt Caimie is strong enough physically and mentally to withstand Rayleigh's haki.
Yet Camie was still standing in the mass bawl when Rayleigh and the giant appeared.
And I'm pretty sure Rayleigh AIMED his haki at Disco to save her when he beat her.

Then why did Luffy, Zoro and Sanji react to it? The Kidd pirates as well and probably Law's crew too…....

Part 1 of my reply; aimed at the Camie reacting to Haki
Part 2 of my reply; aimed at the aiming haki problem
Did you think they were all the same answer to a single question? I was answering two individaul problems there. The mass brawl and Camie were two seperate events I was mentioning. Plus, Even I don't think he was aiming in the mass brawl, just in the Disco and Camie bit.

So he aimed it that time but not the other?

Seems that way.

I know you will probably swear me off like your worst enemy for correcting you, but Luffy/Zoro/Sanji etc. didn't react per se, while "the Heart pirates as well did react and probably Kidd's crew too".
Moving on, Rayleigh knew it was Luffy and co. who saved Hachi and Camie, so he obviously did not aim it at them. The rest (fodder, Kidd pirates, and Heart Pirates) were effected and either knocked out, dizzy, or aware that something just happened to them. Also following was Rayleigh's comment on their surviving it. So I think it is clear that he aimed it, no? Or at least selectively left certain people out of it.
I know you will probably swear me off like your worst enemy for correcting you, but Luffy/Zoro/Sanji etc. didn't react per se, while "the Heart pirates as well did react and probably Kidd's crew too".
You sure? From their facial expressions it seemed they felt something. I'm not saying they reacted like that guy in Law's crew(or was it Kidd's?) I'm saying they all felt it. Clearly you see it differently.
The rest ofcourse is the point of the debate whether he can aim it or if he can't or if it's a choice if he does or not.
Of course I am note sure, but all of them showed absolutely no visible signs of effect. All they did was freak out when people started falling over while exclaiming "WTF happened!?". It was the guy in Law's crew that was dizzy. Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy all just stand there with absolutely no visible signs of emotion or reaction, while primarily Usopp was questioning why people were falling over. Again, following this is Rayleigh's comment about Law and Kidd's crew taking the "attack".
Oh, and let's not forget the incident in the jail cell where it seemed he selectively knocked out Disco. That should be the most obvious point. IMO.

I'd say Law and Kidd reacted similar to Luffy, Zoro and Sanji.

It's a few moments later, maybe, but I see a similar reaction from Law and Kidd in the way that Luffy, Zoro and Sanji reacted.
If Ray points out Law and Kidd took that and were still standing that just points to him not knowing who they were. From what he said to Luffy earlier you'd think he knows that Luffy could take that haki blast/wave or w/e it is. Basically he could've hit everybody with the assumption in mind that Luffy and crew would withstand it, so it wouldn't have been something worth mentioning.
As for him aiming it in that situation it must be with pinpoint accuracy cuz Luffy was pretty close to Law and his crew.
the entire crew is waiting at aces execution when luffy shows up. Out of gratitude ace joins the crew
What are you talking about? This is getting out of hand.
Ok, I guess it's safe to say the Shichibukai are made after the deadly sins for sure now!
Hancock = Lust (Everyone falls in love with her)
Croc = Greed (Alabasta and the casino and etc)
Moria = Sloth (Wanted everyone to do his work, while he laid around, he even had a lazy devil fruit, Doppleman)
Mihawk = Pride (Number one swords man)
Kuma = Wrath (Use to be called the Tyrant and WG always sends him to get vengeance)
Doflamingo = Envy (don't have too many examples, just that he has the slave trade)
Jimbei = Glutony (Well, we haven't seen him yet, but his name means White Shark, and White Sharks are huge sharks, so he might eat alot, idk
But theirs what I think, and if you don't believe by now that Oda has used the Shichibukai as a model of the deadly 7 sins, then…..your crazy, 7 Shichibukai, all have that one trait....come on!:getlost:
P.S. dont be dumb and apply what I'm talking about to all One Piece characters, I'm only talking about the Shichibukai, cause, I remember how this last discussion went!
I'm not a supporter of that kind of thinking, but I'd personally swap Blackbeard in for Gluttony, since he's a fat, drunken slob, and put Jimbei in the Wrath spot, if he's anything like most other Fishmen. That leaves Kuma out of place but he's a good bible-reading Christian so he's excused.
I've said this before, but …"Haki Knock-out Technique" apparently can be used in two different ways like a carbine. The more common way is a Haki "wave" - a burst of Haki that affects everyone within a certain radius. Only the more powerful people can withstand it, the fodder drop like flies. Second way to use it is to aim or concentrate it on one particular individual, or one particular group of individuals. This, we can assume, is a more subtle approach and needs a certain degree of control and practice, and probably only the top tier Haki-users could do this.
We can be absolutely sure taht the first time Rayleigh uses his Haki to deliberately knock-out one single person. The next time he sent out a "wave", but somehow made the wave avoid Camie, Hatchan, and the StrawHats. 'Cause, Camie, Hatchan, Usopp, Nami atleast would have had no way of being unaffected by that Haki.

I like it. Kinda sounds like FMA, but matches th Shichi personalities somehow.
Zoro will eventually switch to a one sword style by the end of the series. The other swords will probably break along the way and then he'll be left with the Wadô Ichimonji.I think it'll help to show his development from his use brute force to push through all of the obstacles thinking. During the Kuina flashback he was trying to use as many swords as he could because he believed brute force could defeat anything and still follows that path at this point in the story.

"Using three swords, and using three sword style are two diffrent things."

Did you watch the anime or read the manga on Zoro's past there?:wassat:

Both, and now that I think about it, it was very different. Well other then about a sentence and a half, I still stand by that theory.
I hear you, but one is canon and therefore a reliable source ad the other has a lot of filler exras.
I thinking of Boa Hancock will be luffy's fiance
As seen in chapter 520, she's really crying out of emotion for heroic action of Luffy and probablly she may fall in love with luffy. The tear of love ^_^
Luffy is the only man that are not fall for her beauty and thus also the only man that she can love ^_^
It would be fun to see Hancock chasing after luffy and helping him become pirate king. (she's already a queen)
spot on

My prediction is true afterall ^_^.
Hancock will most likely become new Straw hat nakama.
Since she will definely help Luffy, it's hard for her to maintain her title as a Shichibukai. She probably have to decide between leaving the country behind or following the call of her heart.
It's fun to imagine how Sanji will react when confront such a beauty like Hancock ^_^. May he we will be first in the crew to be turn into stone by HC (and reverted back to normal)
Another key is the King Haki. Hancock will probably teach luffy how to use it and he will undoutly become much more stronger
I don't believe Hancock will become a member, seems like too many have joined in such a small space of time. But we will see a goodbye kiss between her and Luffy.
Dammit Oda! Look at what you have wrought!!
Honestly Oda….
NAMI IS BETTER! T_T
shot to death
But it is funny to see one of the world's greatest beauties in-love with Luffy and him not even caring, PLEASE LET SANJI SEE HER IN LOVE WITH LUFFY, PLEASE!!!!
I don't believe Hancock will become a member, seems like too many have joined in such a small space of time.
That is not quite true in my opinion. The reason to why people think so is that there was such a long time between Robin's and Franky's recruitement.
Look at this (Name of crewmember. Volume where they joined):
Luffy, Volume 1 (Doesn't really count)
Zoro, Volume 1
Nami, Volume 3/11
Usopp, Volume 5/45
Sanji, Volume 8
Chopper, Volume 17
Robin, Volume 24
NOTICE THE LARGE GAP HERE?
Franky, Volume 45
Brook, Volume 50
The previous joining distance would be this (in number of volumes):
Luffy –> Zoro - 0 Volumes
Zoro --> Nami - 2 Volumes
Nami --> Usopp - 2 Volumes
Usopp --> Sanji - 3 Volumes
Sanji --> Chopper - 9 Volumes
Chopper --> Robin - 7 Volumes
Robin --> Franky - 21 Volumes
Franky --> Brook - 5 Volumes
So to summarize this, I don't think it's too early for another crewmember, seeing as if Hancock actually joins, she'd probably not officially join for another year (5 volumes) (Kind of like Franky's two years before joining)
You have a point there, I guess we should just enjoy the ride, I don't mind if she joins, she seems pretty cool.
I mean, we all know this is going to get merged with the "Theories that don'd deserve…" thread. Why not just post this stuff there in the first place??
That's not love.
It's lust for luffy's under parts on Gear 3.

Harvey Birdman: Black Vulcan. Could you tell me how it would feel if you lost all your powers?
Black Vulcan: Well…you know when the electricity goes out in your house? Well...it's just like that....only in my pants...
I would love to see Boa join the strawhats. I'm just dying to the see the expression on the crew when she tells them that she has fallen for Luffy. Their expressions are going to be priceless.
While Luffy is storming Impel Down I think Zoro is on another island hunting a dragon to properly master his new sword. Ryuuma did it afterall so Zoro should as well.
Luffy will reach Impel Down just in time to see Ace get executed
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. But I might as well say it. I think the tattoo on Ace's back has been defaced, like carved up or something. It could be a source of shame and symbolic to 'loss of pride'. I guess this sounds a bit stupid. But in my opinion something like that can be used as physical and mental torture, I guess.
Hancock will lose her mero mero power becuz she is unable to make herself seduce anybody bar luffy anymore. This must happen if shes going to join SH becuz we dont want someone who can take down the whole of enies lobby without breaking a sweat to join SH.
@Mischievous-Ve: hmm don't thing so, because he seemed very proud about his tatoo (you're talking about the Whitebeard one aren't you), it showed that he is part ot a very powerful Pirate crew.
If he would feel ashamed about it he'd wear a shirt, easy as that lol
But what confuses me more is the other weird tatoo that says ASCE.
Looks really f*cked up XD….
A theory I had is, that it could have a meaning like the tatoos of Nami who got her Tatoo to remember her friends and Family on Kokoyashi or Nojiko who got hers to show she supports her sister, no matter what.
Maybe ASCE was the way Luffy used to write his brothers name, since he's such a dumbshit, and Ace thought that was amusing.... XD
But what seems more realistic is, that he probably was really drunk when he got it
and didn't even realize what shit the tatoo-guy was writing on his arm until it was too late XD

Meh, it was just a thought. And yeah, I meant the white beard tattoo.
Luffy gonna meet the rest of the SH crew at Ace's Execution place.My theory :P

Oda answered that in an SBS; the tattooist got it wrong.
