It's because he's to fast for them.
It has nothing to do with Haki otherwise Sandersonia could control it to but she got burn.
The fire is from Marygold's Salamander Mode.
Well, then explain to me how Marigold was able to form fire snakes although Ace was the one with the Mera Mera no Mi and why the hell she was not burned. I got the impression Marigold had got the Hebi Hebi no Mi Model King Cobra. Cobras haven't got the ability to become fire, so it has nothing to do with her DF either.
I'm so happy the chapter is out early. This is one awesome chapter. I love Luffy's victory pose there. And I love the fact that he's protecting their secret. If it were me I would've revealed it to everyone but Luffy's a good person. And Luffy Gear 2nd is badass. The thing that makes me wonder is Hancock's tears. Was she crying because of Luffy's words? Or because she's ashamed her sisters lost? I can't wait til next week!!

Now that some scanlations are out, the thing with their backs seems odd. Hancock's line "we must protect it even if we die" or something similar suggests there's some higher calling to hide them, and it's something that Luffy understands. It makes the "slave mark theory" seem less likely.
Maybe it's an ancient history thing?

You should know that there is only 1Mera Mera no Mi.
Lucci also used a Fire Related Attack.

The fire is from her Salamander Mode. Maybe where you're from Cobras got the ability to become multiple snakes.
Good chapter my thoughts on it:
Both sisters are way less powerfull then I expected.
So far we have seen subordinates of the shichibukaiand based on that I thought that they ll present more trouble for luffy.
Luffy looks like wont be fighting anymore, now we are just waiting for the development from here on and my thinking is
a) we learn about the secret
b) we just see slow development and direction in which one piece will proceed without explaining the secret for now…
Either of the two I think we can expect a good chapter next week when either Hancock tells her story or luffy tells her his own and we proceed from there...

How is Usopp able to form firebird stars? It's shonen fiction, where moves are stylized beyond what would happen in life naturally. While there might be an explanation for what she did, I would say that she was using Haki to avoid damage from the fire* and using her natural abilities and strengths to push that fire as an attack with a typical shonen stylized form. No, I don't think this qualifies as a "shonen excuse" simply because there are a ton of things like this in the comic that aren't designed to have an explanation outside "it looks cool" and it makes the attacks more interesting. Perhaps its a combination of her Haki allowing her a greater defense, her having a cobra DF that can spit crazy acid and probably do other crazy things, being really strong, and stylized action.

I doubt it's a tattoo. Because that could've easily be camouflaged. Think Nami's tattoo from Arlong.
I doubt it's a burning mark from some kind of slavery. Because as far as we know, the amazons don't know anything from the outside world.
And there doesn't seem to be slavery of any kind on the island..

Come on, crying and the famous lower lip biting practically screams immediate flashback. We saw it with Nami, Vivi and Robin. Except for Tashgi that's every female with a role worth mentioning. Next Hancock will be begging Luffy to save her from some evil.

It's funny that you say this, because I was just thinking about how much I wanted the chapter cover story to be "Where are they now" cover stories for the missing Strawhats. Like showing Chopper running away from something really scared on an unknown island, Zoro lying seemingly dead on the floor with strangers passing him by on a road path (The Good Samaritan), Sanji trying to figure out what is going on but distracted by pretty girls, etc. I mean Oda would have better examples likely, but you get the general idea. 8 Separate chapters of "where are they now's" taking place right after the CP9 mini-story ends. Of course, this could still happen. If I say it enough Oda will do it. If I say it enough Oda will do it. If I say it enough Oda will do it. If I say it enough Oda will do it. Edit: Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, someone else thought of this idea and made mock-images that were playing off this idea. Almost forgot about them.

Anyway, I like the possibility that Zoans might have natural ways to manipulate their bodies. Perhaps in the future Chopper will not even need the rumbles to transform.

Actually that would be great. It would save us the time we would "lose" by having arcs for the entire crew and at the same time still tell us whats going on with them.
