With Carlos dropping lines like "tall glass of water" the cheese is still there.

@Cyan:
It's moving into Hammer Horror which is frankly an upgrade from whatever the hell 5 and 6 were being.
Chris Redfield vampire hunter eh.
Horizon 2 was the only one that made feel like I really want to play it (even though I never finished the first). That one aside, I felt like trying Stray (even though that cat's moves need some serious work on) and Little Devil Inside. And that's it, I think…
I would buy it for Spider Man 2 and that's about it.
But hey that will probably be bundled with Silm so win win.
The best thing about this conference was just how irrelevant PS5 actually was here.
None of the games coming out for PS5 look like anything next-gen or seem to leave any sort of impression other than them being common generic triple A crap. Indie titles were the only ones that seem interesting and different and again, you don't really need a PS5 to play them (unless Sony just makes them exclusive just for the sake of business).
PS consoles (mainline only) are the only consoles that I care to buy and PS5 seems like there isn't anything justifying its existent. For all the big talk about the hardware, none of the games feel any different from PS4 mechanically and technically speaking. Might just wait until the next 10th edition/version of PS5 comes out in 2024 before getting it.
It would also be freaking hilarious if the games still end up being stable or unstable 30FPS rather than 60. Either way, next gen isn't looking next-gen so far. Just more of the same crap with more time wasted on visuals and less time on the actual…..interactive elements.
What did you guys think of the death loop trailer? I think it looked pretty good, not exactly sure how the game works but it looked fun, and had a killer song
All I want to know is if you start back from the beginning each and every time no matter how far you get, cause that would get am little tiring
That's really common with console generations though. The final games a system puts out are usually equal to or better than the launch titles on a new system, because companies just know how to get the most mileage out of the older hardware, and also because a lot of launch titles were actually being developed for the current system before being pushed up to the next.. I'll take the visuals of Final Fantasy 6 over Final Fantasy 7 any day. Okami was a PS2 game but because of the art direction it hasn't aged a day and still looks great on PS4 without a thing changed.
And we're never again going to see the same kind of jump we got from 16-bit to CD systems. We just aren't. PS1-PS2 was a fairly large leap for some things visually, particularly things like water effects, but the jump to PS3 was mostly in that you could fit more enemies on the screen or have giant bosses as regular encounters. Comparitively the jump to PS4 was pretty minor, some better environment effects and the ability to put in more shrubs… but the cinemas were already getting photorealistic in The Last Of Us and that was PS3... it just can't go that much further.
The first generation of 3D games all looked pretty damn bad though. The character models made of like 12 polygons were iffy as hell even then. The N64 stuff in particular has really aged poorly.
Will games in 20 years look better than they do today? Obviously. Will they look staggeringly better? Probably not. People will look a little better but the backdrops and environments don't have much further they can go without a game having a decade long development cycle. Same with CGI films. THe stuff from 2 decades back has aged poorly but its hard to imagine Zootopia or Moana looking dated anytime soon.
Games really need to stop focusing on just the visuals, and stop shooting for pure photo-realism, thats not a jump they can keep making or a goal they'll ever reach... that stuff will always age quick while the stylized stuff will last. Gotta innovate the actual gameplay.
Anyway, as for the PS5, Two of the games I was most interested in, Goodbye Volcano High and Bugsnax, are actually both gonna beon the PS4 ANYWAY.... so yeah.
I think you mean “potential” solution
No, no, I meant solution, I see a new Jak game as a solution to any problem.
has to be a specific reason why Lost Frontier was the last Jak game and not simply because Naughty Dog was busy. Plus aren’t the Jak games essentially the same as Uncharted except Jak isn’t happy go lucky like Nathan?
they did get a little dumbly angsty as they went on, but they didn't navel-gaze over the motivations of the main character to the degree that ND has over every other game they've made since Uncharted 2.
Mainly, I just want more fun 3D platformers. Ratchet and Clank has had to carry that flag on its own.

I mean sure if we ignore the fact that not counting the remake which was a tie-in to the movie the last proper Ratchet game would've been A Crack In Time. Whereas Sly got a PS3 game as well that ended on a cliffhanger, I'm still waiting to get follow up on.
If I can get a Spyro 4, too, I'll be as happy as a pig in mud.
I can't wait for the new Crash Bandicoot game
I think it's funny at the end when the mask asks them how many times they beat Doctor Neo Cortex and they reply "three times", and the mask is like "I thought it was more"
also looks like new mask power ups
Are the Crash Bandicoot games after warped really that bad? I’m legit asking I’ve never actually played one
So it seems in the new Crash Bandicoot games we know what at least two of the four new masks do
One allows you to alter gravity, the other slows down time, both great ideas for platform gaming
and I'll ask again, are the other games that came after Crash 3: Warped, really that bad?
EDIT: This could give him enough variety to get in Smash…. I don't think it will happen especially since he's always been on playstation, but there's a chance, I mean I think the same thing was true about Solid Snake right?

Eh…...yes, and no. The Wrath of Cortex wasn't anywhere near as bad as the "4th game made by a different developer" as it's peer, Spyro 4: Enter the Dragonfly was, but it had horrible loading times, and Crunch being the only boss wasn't endearing to the fans who like a variety for the villains.
Twinsanity, was something different, and it had it's fun moments, but it was more miss then hit.
And the games made by Radical just plain sucked shit.
On which side? Cmon dont be coy andre!

Okay, thank you for answering!
Well it's good to see Crash is back on the right track (or at least it looks that way)
and I'll ask again, are the other games that came after Crash 3: Warped, really that bad?
I’d like to think at least Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity which I haven’t played the full versions are decent games comparable to Sonic Unleashed and Colors don’t know about other games so remember not liking the Spyro-Crash GBA games.

Which would be interesting considering Snake was a thing before the Playstation and by the time he showed up in Brawl the MGS games were on multiple platforms.

I hope VV/Toys For Bob also produce a sequel to Spyro, as well. Until the remake of the original three, he's had a hard time of it as well.
Those darn Skylanders turned on him like he was
Julius Caesar:ninja:
PS2 is in a weird position where I recall the likes of Spongebob, Simpsons Road Rage and Wrath of Cortex were considered 'bad' but now so many people have nostalgia for these games they're looked back as 'good' games
So it seems in the new Crash Bandicoot games we know what at least two of the four new masks do

Wrath of Cortex is pretty decent; it doesn't rock the boat too hard in terms of innovation (only 1 new ability for crash, and you relearn all the ones from 3), but in terms of classic Crash level design, its mostly fine. And it quite often mixes things up within a level so you'll have a bit of diving or a bit of driving, then a bit of classic level and so on. Crash 2 and 3 did this a bit but WoC does it alot, and it makes individual levels feel very distinct.
Its biggest problems are load times, and some of the alternate gameplay modes not being that fun (atlas sphere UGH). And while the graphics are decent, it lacks a lot of the charm of the Naughty Dog era - the death animations in particular are a huge letdown. Music is pretty kickass though.
Besides that I've only played Crash Bash and the GBA games; I found the former a decently fun party game, the latter decent platformers in terms of replicating Crash in a strictly 2D setting, though nowhere near as memorable or fun as the 3d ones.
EDIT: This could give him enough variety to get in Smash…. I don't think it will happen especially since he's always been on playstation, but there's a chance, I mean I think the same thing was true about Solid Snake right?
Actshhhually, though he's definetely associated with the playstation, Crash has had more games for nintendo platforms - even exclusive games- than Sony ones. With the remasters, the only Crash game you can't play on a nintendo console is Crash Bash.
Crash Bash was fun (especially with friends) but I disliked the way it locked almost half of the minigames from the player at the start, and hated how even if you did beat the campaign (which is how you unlocked them), you still had a quarter left to unlock, which for a party game is not ideal given how bull some of those crystal requirements were.
Wrath of Cortex was fine, but it never really captured what made Wrapped (the only classic one I've played) so much fun to play for a linear 3D platformer, but I don't remember either well enough to do a deep dive.

Any game that sells well is going to have plenty of people looking back on it with fondness espeicaly if they're connected to a larger franchise, though bad isn't a term I would use describe Road Rage or Wrath of Cortex (don't know about Battle for Bikini Bottom). The Road Rage in particular actually does do a good of capturing that anarchic feeling of its source thanks to using voice clips from the show and having the voice actors add some new lines even if the game play was just a Crazy Taxi clone. I'd never want to play it again, but I get why I liked it.
I moved a mass of LoU2 posts to the Lou2 thread (since it turns out we actually had one of those) because posts were getting long and spoilery and it was getting REALLY awkward to have that mixed in with Crash Bandicoot talk..

THQ remastered the game? I never knew this was even happening…
News about this broke weeks ago but it’s understandable if you missed it considering what other stories have been making the rounds. That and the fact the original game wasn’t exactly a barn burner.
Welp, Crash Bandicoot 4 is getting microtransactions.
Fucking Activision.
I'm fine as long as its stuff that I will never use.
Don't lock it behind extra lives or victory poses or whatnot.
Aesthetics is fine.
What they did with CTR was scummy tho but eh at my age aesthetics kind of mean smut to me and I don't even go online anyway.

Thanks for the responses guys
I would totally love if Crash became a smash bros character, the fact that it's a possibility and that his flame has been relight with the remasters and the new game, make me hopeful that Nintendo will at least consider it
also what do you guys think of the Tokyo Ghost Wire and DeathLoop games? They both look pretty cool to me
Hmmmm might explain why the video doesn't work:ninja:
I appreciated how good the Horizon 2 trailer looked, but I didn't really appreciate HOW good. I also didn't appreciate that as amazing as the original looked, in a side by side comparison its slightly dated. Crazy.
I remember the first game looking as good as the new trailer, but looking at the actual footage… not quite as much. Granted it IS all pre-rendered cinematic footage in the trailer so probably won't actually look quite that good in-game, but still.
Apparently far cry 6 has been leaked on a PSN store days before its reveal
https://www.vg247.com/2020/07/10/far-cry-6-playstation-store-leak/
Can anyone tell me if Ghost of Tsuchima is any good or worth playing?
I mean the game did just come out and all.
But most of the reviews have been between average & above.
Its pretty good so far, the ubisoft comparison is unfair imo.
Damn it looks like there's a whole lot of awesome shit coming out
Can anyone tell me if Ghost of Tsuchima is any good or worth playing?
Reviews are generally somewhere between positive and glowing. Much is being made about how pretty it is.
I'm waiting two months for the price to drop but looking forward to it.
Best comparison so far is, go figure, inFamous 2. There's a ton to do. Is all of it fun to do? Not really. Does it get pretty same-y? Yeah. Is the story a little meh and occasionally drawn out? Yeah. Does it give a general feeling of contentment and progress over the course of a few dozen hours during a hellscape of a year? Absolutely yes it does.
Feel like it's a very long popcorn movie. I'm engaging mostly at a superficial level and probably won't remember much of it in a few months, but I'm thoroughly enjoying my time in Tsushima. It also helps that the game is very pretty and endearingly impressed with itself for being so pretty.
Basically, the good kind of 8/10 game that I'm glad I played.
[should clarify, I'm probably a little under a third of the way into the game, but I ain't seeing a lot of paradigm-shifting surprises on the gorgeous horizon]
Crash 4 looks to be really fun.
Crash 4 looks amazing. Unless the reviews turn out to be absolutely catastrophic, I'll be picking it up pretty much immediately
Anyone playing Fall Guys? Its free for PS+ this month. It's fun but I don't think I'll be sticking with it too long.
