According to Australian news agencies, Steve Irwin, better known as the Crocodile Hunter, has passed away after taking a sting ray barb to the chest.
Steve Irwin RIP .

-
The Crocodile Hunter, gone D= ?!!
…
RIP Steve =(
-
even though at times he was mad as a hatter he was a good guy and made some awsome TV
R.I.P Steve (I always thought it'd be a Croc that would get him)
-
How sad. Though I kind of think it was going to happen eventually, though it would have been more proper if he was taken by a Crocodile. Not to disrespect the dead or anything, though. RIP Crocodile Hunter

Oh my god he's dead… I've been saying that for ten minutes now. I didn't think I cared so much about him but I'm still sobbing. I just can't get over it. Weird, huh. :(
-
Holy crap…
Was not expecting that. Rest in Peace Steve Irwin.
-
Oh my gosh…how sad... :(
I know there's a lot of people that hated him (many of them from his home country), but he did a lot in support of wildlife, and he was one fun, crazy guy with a family, friends, and fans who will miss him dearly.
But I guess with his daredevil antics with dangerous animals, it shouldn't be too surprising. -
Wow, fuck! I wasn't much of a fan, but as an Australian I can't help but feel a little sad. :cwy:
-
That's so shocking. :^(((
-
I feel really bad for his family, especially the kids. :(
-
Wow. Can't say I'm too surprised about how he died, but still…. I enjoyed all his crazy antics. He was fun.
Goodbye Irwin. We'll miss you.
-
I was a huge fan of Steve Irwin i love watching his show when i got home from school. I never thought he could actually die from doing that stuff always saw him as being to smooth to be killed by those animals. He's the main reason i actually watched the animal planet at first. RIP.
-
R.I.P Steve Irwin. We'll miss you mate
-
I just heard about that, that's sad that he died so young and his kids aren't going to get to know him more. I can't say it's a surprise, really, but it's still sad.
-
Yea, it's all over the news today, I'm suprised he went like that, I was expecting him to be mauled to death or something. Anyways, RIP
-
Fare thee well, Mr. Irwin. You went down in an incredible awesome and (hopefully) painless way. :(
…
He's a professional, yet even experience with animals cannot serve as a predictor for their behaviour. No one really appreciated the risks Irwin took since he survived them all...but, I guess this should be a real eye opener for people.
His shows were excellent, I did enjoy watching them when I was younger and (really) into animals, especially the Australian spider bits. To amend Ubiq's post, Irwin was pierced through his heart by the ray; as some of you know, stingrays have potent toxic venom, but Irwin's heart was damaged and he died before the rescue helicopter could even reach him. Man...what an awesome dude.
-
Holy crap  Damn, it seems like yesterday when I was a kid watching his show on tv… R.I.P, mate.
-
holy fck. Everyon knew something like that was bound to happen one day but it's still shocking and sad.
R.I.P
-
Well, since nobody else is going to make the obnoxious disrespectful joke:
This is what happens when you don't read Chapter 86. Nobody ever told him not to dive in and take a stingray on in its own waters.
-
Damn what a way to die, a stingray barb to the heart. It's not really sad for him, since he knew what kinds of deadly situations that he would be getting into, but it is sad for his wife and children.
G'day old friend and rest in peace up in that big zoo in heaven.
-
I remember him saying in a talk show that if an animal killed him, he'd like it to be caught on camera so it could entertain his fans. A sick thought. Man, he almost died the way he wanted to go.
-

And I'm glad he didn't go via crocodile, that would be a miserable way to die. those things will twist your limbs and snap them, then pull you underwater while they're chomping down on you.

Yeah, good intentions somewhat, but I'm sure not a lot of people want to see what happened, the sad thing is that considering he was filming a documentary at the time, it probably was caught on tape o_o
Wow, fuck! I wasn't much of a fan, but as an Australian I can't help but feel a little sad. :cwy:
Wow, you're an Aussie too BF? Cool ^^
Anyway, yeah it's so sad….I'm not a fan but it's still so sad, I wanted to cry didn't want to-ish.
R.I.P. Steve Irwin...
I wish his family and friends all the best, his daughter's really cute, she did an ad for the Australia Zoo, it was cute cause all her lines rhymed. She even said
"Chance you might see my dad there too!" It's so sad :cwy: -
It's an unwritten filmographic tradition to destroy any tapes capturing a person dying. There are mild exceptions, like with the 9/11 tapes, but even then, we never actually saw people die; we saw them jump off buildings and disappear.
-
I did not notice this thread untie I read the news on Wikipidia and I was shocked.
I was not a fan of his nor do I knew him very well, but I saw him in some shows and a movie called "Crocodile Hunter". Wow, he never though he would die at that point.
Stingrays rarly kill people, the will get pissed of if you step on them but they normally swim away when attacked. Steve went over the stingray during the underwater filming, the stingray was provoked and stung his chest with the tail.
Shocking but strange, I've never heard of a diver getting killed by a stingray befor, Steve was not careful or he was unlucky.
I've heard that he was hated, why? What did he do wrong?
-
Damn.
He was one badass dude. Rock on o' fearless one.
-
I just found out the news. This is so sad. I was never a fan of his but I saw the 'Crocodile Hunter' movie though. I feel so bad for his wife and children.
R.I.P: Hope you enjoyed what you did with you life Steve.
-
@Invader:
I feel really bad for his family, especially the kids. :(
Agreed. I know he had a son and I don't think he was all that old.
-
Wow, this is vaery tragic. But at least he went out doing what he loved. Rest in Peace, you crazy person.
-
…...................................
speechless -
This is so sad, i remember that i always watched his shows on Animal Planet. They were so funny and entertaining. I always knew he would die like this, but i never thought he would be killed by a stingray. I expected a crocodile, snake or something.
R.I.P Steve i will always remember your show and your love for the wildlife! Why can't this happen to a terrorist or a republican:getlost:
-
RIP Steven Irwin
-
…..........(speechless) But when I first saw the title I screamed "NANI?!" yes, in japanese....
Whats so fucked up about this, is a stingray usually never attacks a person and its very rare for them to and he was simply swimming in the water when it came under him out of no where and took his life.
I'm sorry but this was a screwed up way to go, if I believed in a greater power I'd say the guy wanted him to go and used what he had at his disposal.
I didn't know what one was till I google imaged and.....TAKEN OUT BY A PEACE OF FLAP?! THIS WAS AN INSULT TO STEVE IRWIN!
Dammit man, I just wish it was a prank and I keep telling myself it is but I know good and well hes gone. I wasn't really a fan but damn, he was a tough ass guy and it pisses me off he went out like this! And at the age of 44 with 2 kids and a wife too!
Rest in Peace, The Crocodile Hunter.
-
Wow..
The news is just coming in here in Canada. And I'm shocked :l
How did that thing go thru his heart? >_<
It must of been horrible to see :(
I really feel bad for his wife.. -
Okay, this is weird. I had a dream about some guy being stuck on an island, who survives on eating live people. One victim survived of being cut open for a long time, and being jabbed with a sharp stick on the chest. The rest of the victims died of horrible deaths, I think. Knew right away that someone special like Irwin died. Then I woke up to hearing about his death on the news. RIP.
-
^ o_o….....okay, what the hell? I'm scared of you now.
-
I'm an Aussie, and losing Steve Irwin is just… so hard. I have no interest in animals, I had no interest in Steve or his work. Yet I feel so sad, I just watched about it on the news and I'm just so sad. It's so shocking.
I feel so touched that so many people from around the world are sending their best wishes, and even here on anime forums (found one on a Naruto forum too) there are threads dedicated to him and everything saying how sad we all are. It just feels nice.
A grave lose for Australia, and a grave lose for the world.
-
Yeah man this sucks ass I use watch his shows.
-
@joekido:
I've heard that he was hated, why? What did he do wrong?
It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, he brought his baby to see the crocodiles. A little too close to the crocodiles. (nothing happened) He did it innocently, but it wasn't a smart idea. Something bad could have happened.
-
I heard it at school that he was dead.
I was never a fan, but the man deserves some respect for what he did.Still its a bit ironic that it wasent a crocodile who,d get him but a stingray, oh well.RIP Steve.
-
A video I found on YouTube. You will miss him even more if you watch this.
-
oh no steve D:
R.I.P >_<
you'll be missed -
Man, this is really sad. I used to watch him all the time on Animal Planet when I was a kid. He was a really brave man and at least he died doing something he loved doing. It's a good thing he didn't feel any pain at least.
R.I.P. Steve Irwin -
Heres a tribute of images with a song I'm only guessing called "Forever Young". Tho it has some screwed up images and a few which hurts the tribute. You know em when you see them.
-
He brought so many laughs to me and my family. His "Crikey!" catch phrase never got old for me. I'm gonna miss him.
-
Well, since nobody else is going to make the obnoxious disrespectful joke:

If you're going to try to be obnoxious/disrespectful at least be funny.
-
Remember Hilruk's line, guys; a man dies only when he is forgotten. Irwin's inside all of us.
-
I heard he didn't even know about the stingray and it came up on him.
-
never liked steve as a person nor any of his shows but its always sad when someone dies tho the ones i really feel for are his wife and his children who are gonna grow up with out a father:sad:
