A great enemy approach the main characters for one particular female member's sake. After the conflict said female member decides to leave group despite her friends fought tooth and nail to protect her, in order to save them from further trouble.

Except, in OP's case, the SHs got wtfpwned by Aokiji in the first conflict, justifying Robin's fear and eventual departure. The short confrontation served as a nice prelude to the upcoming epic rescue arc.

Here in FT, the Fair Tails spend an entire arc saving Lucy from Phantom and actually won, yet she still decides to abandon her friends and go home? I guess all the "pain, laugh, tears" they shared togather was, afterall, not enough yet. It almost makes this past arc seems pointless plotwise.

It's equivalent to Robin leaving AFTER the W7/EL arc, totally retarded IMO.

I have another new theory about this now. It's possible that the outcome of the Phantom war came as a huge wake up call to Lucy. She realizes that running away from her father is not only going to put herself in danger, but her friends as well. After seeing what happened in the Phantom war, Lucy realizes that continuing to run away from her father would only encourage him to resort to other means necessary to getting her back, thus further endangering her friends at Fairy Tail. By going back home, Lucy will have the means to settle this matter with her father face to face so that she would not put her friends in any more danger.

Lucy will kill off her father before finding out that he was actually her mother, then she will use all the money of her mother's bussiness to strengthten Fairy tail to a point where it will be capable of matching the other guilds that have one of the Ten Holy Wizards as Guild masters.

I'm actually glad this was resolved in one chapter. I take back my complaints that I made about the last chapter. Lucy's little speech didn't seem forced so it was nice to hear her say that if Lucy's father ever attacked again he'd make an enemy of Fairy Tail.

But I kind of like Mashima's pacing. It makes for a nice change from 10 chapters of Odz or 50 chapters of Syazel.

That was done pretty well, Lucy's way of handling the situation was infintely better than I expected. Mashima really seems to taking care into her character, strong-will and development beyond BOOBS BOOBS BOOBS.

Those house-keepers were awesome, too.(The bastard with the gaudy chin, esspecially.) Such a shame that there's such a tenuous chance of seeing them again.

Yeah I was surprised also, I thought Lucy was going to end up stuck there somehow and the other 3 would have to do something. Sort of like what her father mentioned in the chapter, saying that he would have brought down the wealth of his family to destroy Fairy Tail and Lucy would cave in. It's great that she stood up to him. I'm not so sure about development yet like you are, but so far I'm being convinced somewhat of it.

I really like how Mashima manages to give a character development while not overdoing it and keeping it bearably short.

I also find Lucy to be a much more entertaining character than most of her archetype counterparts, although that might change once this series gets longer.

The "prince" she was going to marry not being a loser, but in fact a powerful mage. And perhaps his country is the one with the "dragons" or clues about the 777 thing involving it.

Glad I'm not the only one who liked them. The Cook and his buddy looked like something ripped off those old cartoons in Black and White.

And I didn't notice the thing of Lucy's Mom, so I wonder if this 777 mystery will be revealed before being close to the ending of the series.

It's not that I don't enjoy Mashima's current style…but damn, I'd wish he jot down more whimsical, odd-ball bastards then he does. (At least to balance out the abundance of smooth faced teenagers.)

A lot of the Fairy Tail side characters aren't all that attractive.

But if you look at most of the shonen series out there, the main cast is all a bunch of sexy, powerful teenagers.

Think the mangaka will have to unravel the mystery about what happened in year 777 and if there are any more sevens before that happens. And probably a bit more about those two that are new in the magic council before that will happen.

(do we know what year Ur sacrificed herself btw? I'm hopeing its not 777)

Actually, as cliche as it sounds, I think the main five (Yeah, including HAPPY) will be related to 777 in some way.

Yeah 68 was pretty cool, but holy snap-

! pLOT is getting thicker; from what Gazelle said about Metallicana and what Natsu said about Ignil, apparently ALL dragons disappeared on 7-7-777 AND Lucy's mom also died on 777.
Normally when shit like this happen, I'd follow the series once a new chapter's out, but I'm building up the excitement
Lucy just went up a notch in my fav. character list.

Yeah, I read it again. She seems a lot older than 29 in the picture of her behind Lucy, but whatev. This makes me think that the Heartphilia Family will come back to play, eventually.
