Yeah, that is baaad. What is up with Toei's animation department these days? They're so inconsistent. I mean, in the really early episodes, the animation was kind of cheesy, but at least it was consistent.

There were some badly animated spots in 270, but at least the character design was consistent. It looks like for 271 they handed it off to some other section of the studio that wasn't used to One Piece. But I'm going by the screenshots, I haven't watched the whole episode yet, so I can't comment on the actual animation.

You're guess makes a lot of sense, having just finished watching it on Youtube, it doesn't seem like it's being animated by people who don't know what teh characters look like. Great episode, though.

Sanji's neck is a bit long, mostly because his shoulders are slanting down too much, it's just not the type of badness that makes you go Arrg wtf? I don't see anything wrong with Zambai or Usopp.

Indeed, Nami wasn't treated to well in 197.
197 would seem to be the first episode of KF's to feature the newer animation too if I am not mistaken. -
