@Superbear:
So I guess there aren't just five fruits that grant flight anymore. Hope this isn't too spoilery and with a thread entitled chapter "718" I guess it isn't, but here are list of people who have devil fruits that grant the ability of flight.
Pell (falcon)
Marco (phoenix)
Shiki (Float)
Laffitte (Something relating to either wings or could be a bird zoan partially transformed)
Kabu (Rhinoceros beetle)
Bian (Bee)So yeah…... there are six now,guess Pell's a lair.
Aohige has this covered.
Let me address this since I saw it being brought up elsewhere.
In the original Japanese Pell says there are only five types of DF known to have the ability to fly.
We don't know if that five types of DF meant as simply five DF, or categorized into types. For example, the entire family of Bird Zoan fruit could be considered a single type, and Bug fruits another.
Aohige has this covered.
He has this? How does he have it if he himself does not know what Oda meant?
I'm not following so there are five bird Zoan? Or is her saying that what Pell said was so vague that here could be multiple fruit beyond the limit 5 that can grant five. If the latter is true why was the statement even made? It just confuses the situation.
Also wouldn't it make more sense that if Pell was referring to the bird bird fruit as a type of fruit he would have said something along the lines of "This is the Tori Tori Fruit Model Falcon, there are five know types of the fruit, with the ability to grant flight".

He's saying that the wording is ambiguous enough that types could either mean individual devil fruit or it could mean that, for instance, the various Bug Fruits are all counted as a single type, which is one of the five different types of devil fruit bestowing flight. It's also possible that Pell is talking out his ass or that Oda simply changed his mind. We don't know because the wording isn't clear enough to distinguish whether Pell was suggesting that there are only five individual fruits or five different types of fruit, which would count various models of the Bug Bug Fruit as one type and various models of the Bird Bird Fruit as another type.

So I still wondering why you said he had this, when he himself doesn't really seem to know what's going on? I understand where he's coming from but seeing as how Shiki was before Pell's time and was a famous pirate who known for his flying ability, wouldn't he be inculded into what Pell said?
So I assume what I orginally said was correct Pell didn't know what he was talking about.

Yeah, he could be. Look, here's a hypothetical list of known types based off of what Aohige is saying could be the case:
Both Bian and Kabu would count under the Bug Bug Fruit, while Pell and, presumably, Marco would fall under Bird Bird Fruit. And as you can see, there's room for Shiki's fruit, plus two more. This isn't fact, but it's a possibility based on the wording.

We also have Buffalo's Spin Spin Fruit.

Alright thanks for clearing that up. However know that begs the question of who or what could fill up those two lot in this possible scenario. Logias are out of the question obviously so that leaves Paramecia and Zoan. However I don't know of too many animals that aren't mythical, birds ,or bugs that can fly. One could push the envelope and say that a flying squirrel Zoan exist but that seems a bit silly. Dragon is likely but it would have to be different from Momonosuke's model becasue as you know her doesn't really "fly" so much as he just spawns clouds and climbs them.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
We also have Buffalo's Spin Spin Fruit.
That isn't a fruit that specifically grants the user flight, that more along the lines of when Robin made wings out of hands or the time Luffy used that UFO technique. These are creative methods of using an ability to achieve flight. In contrast Shiki's ability grants flight right off the bat, the same would go for the bird and bug Zoan users.
Here's my theory (which just got a lot more going for it after this week's chapter 666)
I always wondered why Caesar Clown's "human" form still looks gas-y, seeing as he is the first logia type that doesn't revert to a "completely" human form.
Then we have Monet, who is a bird-woman, but also seemingly unable to revert to full human form (flasback doesn't count, and I theorize that she got her fruit after the flashback)
Here's the kicker:
We may be seeing the 2 first cases of artificially created Devil Fruits! Of course with anything artificial, it stands to reason that there are imperfections. Both CC and Monet look like they are unable to revert FULLY to human form.
A plot development this big would also justify why Law may be hanging around on the island.
You read it here first lol.
Discuss
Looking back, I was right about Punk Hazard arc introducing artificial DF's. However we still haven't figured out the deal with Monet's bird parts

I'd say there are two possibilities right now. The most likely reason she has bird parts is because Law gave them to her, just like he gave Brownbeard his gator parts. The other possibility, which is pretty small in my book, is that SMILEs are different enough from natural Devil Fruits that its possible to consume more than one and Monet ate one herself. I find this pretty unlikely because I think Law would have mentioned that by now if it was the case. So, I think the reasonable conclusion right now is that Law gave them to her at her behest.

I do think someone would have mentioned that Law gave Monet her wings. Brownbeard himself mentioned how he got his legs from Law.
Also recall that Brownbeard lost his legs against his will. Do you think Monet chose to "upgrade" her parts lol?

Exactly; Brownbeard already told us how people on Punk Hazard ended up with animal parts. There's no reason to repeat that with Monet since we, as readers, are capable of putting two and two together and reaching four.
And yeah, I do. Whatever happened to Monet, it's clearly of her own volition. I don't think Caesar would have been able to force her in to anything nor do I think that Law would want to.

Why does this sound like an innuendo . . .
I don't think the obvious so desperately needed to be spelled out. She previously was normal, she now has wings and talons permanently present and in between those two times, Law arrived on the island and gave many people animal parts.
7 + 6 = 13

Why would someone mention it?
This is something that would need to be done on some Jersey Shore like sitcom to ensure that the audience isn't being left behind - Oda has respect for his viewers that they can either trust their assumptions or he will leave it ambigious to clarify it later. Look at the people being upset that the Art fruit was spelled out - although it would have been shown eventually anyway.
Simple thing is Monet did not revert to a normal form like most Zoans do - Granted Chopper seems to be the exception to the rule but when humans have a Zoan they tend to remain human most of the time. I think the bigger example hidden in Monet is that DF's might extend to anything connected to the host - So either she had the legs and wings added then took the Logia fruit or had the Logia already and then added the wings and legs and the logia extended to them.
More things for Vega Punk to explain.

Exactly. And in the flashback where she suggested Law help the injured of Punk Hazard she seemed to be perfectly healthy herself. So does she just like being a guinea pig? She seemed perfectly fine with Law cutting her heart out.
Could the wings be made of her snow? Then only her legs would be add ons like the others

That doesn't really answer what happened to her previously normal looking hands.
The only thing comparatively similar is Crocodile's hook, which iirc does transform in his sandstorm form but remains generally unchanged.
Does anyone else think its plausible that we will see a yonko or some other super strong character with a Mythical Zoan Demon fruit? its an idea that just wont pop out of my head. It would be pretty corny imo, but i would not be surprised if it appears. It would kinda make sense to have a bad guy with some kind of devil or demon fruit since we had a fleet admiral with a buddha fruit.

Well if we can have a Buddah, some sort of other worldly demon type zoan seems like fair game. Either that or what ever is harbored inside if Zoro.

An Asura, maybe?
A question is Drake fruit the only revealed ancient Zoan in the story up until now?
Thanks in advance.

16 chars of yes it is.
Again thanks, just wanted to be sure.
No problem.
I have my fingers crossed for an Ancient Zoan, Model: Mastodon to be revealed.
Ancient Zoan: Pterodactyl Would be much more interesting >:D

NO NO NO. What we need is the Ancient Zoan: DODO. But rumour has it that THIS THE MOST POWERFUL FRUIT EVER has been extinct for 900 years…
Here's my theory (which just got a lot more going for it after this week's chapter 666)
I always wondered why Caesar Clown's "human" form still looks gas-y, seeing as he is the first logia type that doesn't revert to a "completely" human form.
His coat looks gassy but is completely made out of fabric. Nothing gassy about it, he's 100% human.
Then we have Monet, who is a bird-woman, but also seemingly unable to revert to full human form (flasback doesn't count, and I theorize that she got her fruit after the flashback)
She wanted bird wings and legs because she is weird and didn't want normal legs and arms, so Law gave her those instead. Either that or her legs and arms were somehow cut off.

Baby 5 saw her man and her hugging :ninja:
So she has a thing with Vergo?:ninja:
Well you see how solid he could get  Girls like solid men right?

I thought girls liked sturdy poles, but yeah solid might work too… wait! why is this conversation derailing so much!!
Has anyone wondered if this:
!
Might be a result of Jora's fruit judging from Chopper's hands in ch 718 ?
@Smiley: Marco's fruit.

Sorry that one is a mythology Zoan type.

There's a difference between them!? I thought it was just translation preferences.
My whole life is a lie.
Thanks though, I didn't even notice.

I thought about that possibility too. Well, we'll see.
It has been said that in Japan some waves are called bunny/rabbit, so Oda made a graphical reference to that.

What if Harpies are actually a legit race in the One Piece world?

It wasn't on the list back in SA, so no

Monet still wouldn't be one lol.

It doesn't have to be on the list. Were Skypeians on the list? I'd also like to add this: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/139225/one-piece_ch686_by_mangarule/17 Judging by how it is said, Harpies are a race.

Skypeans weren't on the list because people in the blue seas doesn't know about Sky Islands and that image doesn't help you in anything, every race was listed back in SA and anything else is just speculations

I looked back and in the list, it says "Others, Exotic Species-Special Price" meaning the ones listed are not all the races that exist in One Piece.
http://www.onepiecebay.net/manga/One-Piece/501/6
Could be both no?
In the Volume 71 SBS, someone asked Oda this question and Oda didn't answer. He purposely teased it by choosing the question and skipping it. Most likely it's gonna be essential to the story rather than just Jora.

Well seems like there's "others" which still doesn't mean that Harpies are a race, those weird looking huanimals that we saw in PH are categorized as "others", so what they're trying to say is that they also buy weird stuff

Harpies would fall in the "Exotic Species" category. Same with Sky people and the Aliens on the cover page.

That still doesn't prove anything. It's still speculation.

Like I said, judging from the way it was said in the manga, it seems like Harpies are a legitimate species in the One Piece world. It might not be a fact just yet, but it is more than a speculation at this point.
