Hey.
Are there any parts of OP that made you feel a certain way? I don't usually get emotional about manga (hell, OP is the only manga I read), but when I read chap. 394 (I think) when young Aokiji is killing Saul and Saul is telling Robin to laugh like him when she's down and find her nakama someday, I got really sad.
Wha 'bout you guys?
Emotional moments in One Piece
-
-
Nami, Robin and Usopp's backstorys all made me sad, but thats good!
-
Got to be when Chopper was going to Ussop after he and Luffy fought. When Chopper left the supplies and left, it was the saddest moment ever.
Also there wuz that time when Ussop's veggie crew took over when he left his island.
All pasts were really emotional
-
I screamed out loud when I the CP9 revealed themselves… Good thing that I was alone home back then... ^^
-
Happiness Punch. So much emotion felt during that attack.
But on a more serious note, Bellemere being shot.
-
DAMMIT! Your sig is making me cry!!
-
can't say I've ever cried during one piece but saddest moment was when hiluluk threw chopper out and chopper started hurting himself so he could go back inside.
-
Also, when Nami started stabbing her Arlong tattoo and crying I got really sad.
-
@Bad-Beat:
can't say I've ever cried during one piece but saddest moment was when hiluluk threw chopper out and chopper started hurting himself so he could go back inside.
I rarely ever get sad, but that scene rattled me some.
-
Bellemere getting shot.
Luffy getting impaled by Croc.
Luffy about to be executed by Buggy. -
Aw that was terrible I was all like, "No way, they can't kill Luff–HOLY SHIT ALVIDA IS HOT NOW."
-
In writing the Arlong Pirate Gang crew profile I had to flip by Nami asking Luffy to save her quite a few times.
Even if I only saw it for a moment the tears started welling up.
That and when Bellemere says, "I love you."
You can't even see her face but you don't need to. That single panel is amazing and I dare say one of the most powerful panels in the entire series.
-
Bon Clay's attack on Hina in Alabastia. I didn't like his overall character very much at first, but his dramatic, seemingly kamikaze move made me really like him.
The wide shots of the final part of the survival game in Skypiea (Zoro vs the snake vs Holy vs Ohm vs Gan Forr vs Viper) always give me a sense of awe[some].
I'm always quieted by the look on Luffy's face when he realizes there's no fixing the Going Merry. He doesn't even say a word and I'm always moved.
Nami crying in the rain and screaming to Luffy about Robin. She hasn't been so emotional since Arlong Park, and again, it's Luffy's face (no matter how squished) that says it all.
And I'll never stop laughing at Luffy's conception of what their carpenter should look like.
EDIT: Oh, almost forgot! In Jango's side-story; "Fullbody's Manly Objection!"
-
All of it.
Seriously.
(except Apis)
-
My favorite emotional moments in One Piece were the end of Arabasta and Robin saying "I WANT TO LIVE" to Luffy and co. at Enies Lobby.
Though as far as Arabasta goes, that was better in the anime with the classical music playing in the background…
-
Chopper's flashback, especially around the time Doctorine tells him that the amiudake is poisonous, always makes me cry… Robin's flashback, starting about when Robin asks if Olvia is her mother, makes me cry when I re-read it... The Luffy and Usopp fight (especially the part before it when Chopper comes back sad 'cuz Usopp said they aren't nakama anymore) still makes me cry when I read it...
And I can't think of much that's not sad that really got me in the same way. ^^;;
-
When Dvorjak's symphony starts playing as Luffy unleashes his final attack on Crocodile.
The music + attack + conclusion just made it the best scene in the entire series for me thus far. It was PERFECT.
-
-Shanks losing his arm, especially in the anime, that whole Luffy crying, "Shanks…your arm", the CUT to the image with the missing arm. great image+great music=great moment
-Just the few panels after Luffy said he would help Nami...Zoro, Usopp, Sanji and Luffy posing and all the coming panels...just great
-chapter 82 title page...best one ever
-Choppers past..the whole flashback, worse than Nami's
-Robin's flashback...worse than Chopper's
-Luffy vs. Usopp...especially the images with everybody (Nami, Chopper, Usopp, Luffy and ofcourse the ship) crying...that was the most painful thing I've ever read in that kind of manga (well, along with the Gaara flashback in Naruto) -
I remember getting heated up when Luffy and co. saw Usopp laying on the ground outside the Franky House.
-
1. Bellemere getting shot and the "I Love You" line right before
2. When Nami is stabbing the Arlong tattoo and then asks Luffy for help
3. Basically nearly all of Chopper and Robin's flashback
4. Vivi's speech as they leave Alabasta
5. The end of the Skypiea flashback when Norland dies
6. Robin's "I want to live!" line
7. Luffy destroying every villain but mainly Arlong and Crocodile (and soon to be Lucchi I'm sure) -
its gotta be when the strawhats leave Alabasta, and the end of luffy's fight with croc, the music and everything was perfect
-
I was really upset when Luffy found out they couldn't fix the Going Merry anymore. The conclusion of the Luffy vs. Usopp fight made me cry, even though I'm not usually emotional when I read manga.
-
I'm weird but the thing that was emotional for me was Choppers flashback.
-
For myself there were alot of moments, I cried while reading One Piece. But the one got me the most was the entire Usopp Vs. Luffy fight in my opinion, we were watching to great friends fighting each other, and that when I first thought the crew could be falling apart during the beginning parts of Water 7. Well now alot of things have change and stuff. But this still holds as the saddest scene in the series so far for me.
-
I thought alot were emotional, the Chopper flashback, Mostly all the Arabasta ark, the Arlong ark when Bellemere got shot and Nami stabbing her tattoo, mostly all the flashbacks made me cry =P , also Zoro's flashback when Kuina died.
-
Basically all of Oda's flashbacks are retardedly emotional. The weird thing is they're all similar in nature, but it still maintains a unique sense of poignancy. Hence the brilliance of Oda…. the guy's a fucking god.
-
Throw me in with the Luffy vs Crocodile crowd. I still cry whenever I watch that scene once in a while.
-
When Nami finally cracked and asked Luffy for help in the Arlong Park arc, and he just hands her his hat and says "Let's go" – I'll admit to getting a bit choked up reading that. Aside from realising how much Nami had to go through, I think that was the moment they really became a crew and the whole nakama thing started.
-
Speaking of 'nakama', also in the Arabasta ark, when Luffy told Vivi that she was their nakama was very sweet and sad.
-
Nami's backstory
When Nami ask help form Luffy
When the Stra Hats leave Alabasta. -
-the scenes leading up to, and during, Ussop vs Luffy
-Bellemere's death
-Vivi realizing the bomb would still detonate, + (below)
-Pell's speech about being the Guardian Falcon
-Nami stabbing her tattoo and Luffy giving her his hat
-Kuina's death
-Chopper's flashback (though it was a bit lengthy)
-
While on the subject. Luffy's VA mentioned at the JUMP Festa I attended (where she and Chopper's VA narrated Chopper's past live) she said that the part where Kureha called Chopper Hiruluk's 'idiot son' as he was leaving was terribly emotional for her. Again a cultural difference here. She doesn't really mean he's an idiot, it's just common for people who don't want to get emotional in that kind of situation to show anger.
-
I think its interesting that not many people chose to list Going Merry's last stand. Perhaps its not recent enough to be remembered and far enough back to be nostalgic about?
-
In my mind/world-as foolish as it may be-I still believe that Merry is alive somehow and will come back
MERRY SHALL NEVER DIE AS LONG AS HE REMAINS IN YOUR HEART! DON!!!
-
The Merry being smashed itself wasn't such a big deal to me, probably because we were told it wouldn't really make it for long anyway. What DID get a real reaction out of me was when Franky grabs Usopp and forces him to see that he can't fix Going Merry, and Usopp goes right back to fixing and it and admits that he knew all along.
-
I'm amazed I haven't seen that many post about Skypiea, especially towards the end, when all the craziness with Eneru is happening, it took every one's effort to get up to Eneru, and ended beautifully with Luffy knocking Eneru and the Bell in one triumphant move.
-
seriously can't believe there's been no love for norland's flashback
-
I think its interesting that not many people chose to list Going Merry's last stand. Perhaps its not recent enough to be remembered and far enough back to be nostalgic about?
I think it's because:
1. It's a ship.
2. We all know it will be back in some form or another. Probablly floating atop the giant fountain in W7 when they return to pick up their shyt. -
oh man, I cry everytime i reread Robin's past, especially when she sees her mom again and they hug… and that part w/ Saul at the end of 396 (or was it 397)
I was bawling the first time i saw Luffy and Usopp fight, and this was long before I even got to that part... i couldn't believe it was happening, it was like, to me, i've never gotten so emotional for a character in an anime series until i read/watched One Piece. I know other people have said that, but its true. sure i've cried watching other animes like Kenshin or Saber Marionette J but they didn't leave a huge impact on me.
but if anything, Luffy and Usopp's argument right before made me cry, just watching them yell at each other like that... it just didn't feel good at all.
yeah, that scene where Bellemere tells Nami and Nojiko that she loves them... what a powerful scene that was, I agree w/ you, Omae.
I did cry the first time i saw Kaku "killing" Going Merry, especially since Usopp was so hysterical about it.
The Straw Hats leaving Alabasta... beautiful moment.
The golden bell at the end of Skypiea... even reading the manga, i could almost hear what it could sound like, and it gave me this overwhelming/excited feeling... it was a really awesome part of Skypiea to me.
oh man, I cried reading/watching Chopper's past too...
-
@omae:
2. We all know it will be back in some form or another. Probablly floating atop the giant fountain in W7 when they return to pick up their shyt.
We're expecting that, but if Oda decides to have the Strawhats move on and get a new ship, my respect for this manga will exponentially multiply (as if said respect wasn't high enough).
-
-Luffy vs. Usopp
-Nami asking Luffy for help
-Sanji's goodbye at Baratie
-Vivi freaking out on Luffy
-Robin telling the SH's she wants to live
-Chopper's entire flashbackThere's MUCH more than that though, but I can't possibly list them all with One Piece being such a big series.
-
Norland flashback is the most emotional to me. I think that was the ultimate part of the Skypeia Arc. Calgara and Montblanc love, yo.
Chopper's flashback and Robin's were pretty sad, too. But the most intense moment has to be…. Bon Clay's final words to the Mugiwaras. Lots of drama, action, and romance all throughout that scene.
-
When shanks gave his arm to save Luffy. Although the story had just begin, shank's face under the hat created a sense of sheer injustice. All the other times were, eh.
-
when luffy convinced robin to follow them… and robin cried out loud but she managed to cool off and said i wanna live on and travel to the seas with the SH...
sob still so touching..... T_T
-
all of one piece is extremely sad. especially the flashbacks, except zoro's, which was sorta too sudden [when the girl died]. that's why i believe tashigi will turn out to be the girl assumed dead and more drama will ensue as they wrap up zoro's past.
also, with all the dramatic beatings that luffy gave to each pirate, i bet near the end of the series each crew member has to face the villain responsible for their arc again one on one.
-
I thought Nami's tearful self-stabbing was emotional enough and then when Luffy grabs her hand it just sent this chill up my spine. He had that powerful look on his face. Then when she finally asked for help and he gave her his hat, it just floored me.
Oda won some kind of award for putting such an emotional scene in such a goofy-ass manga….
-
The emotional peak of the Skypeia arc (and one of my favorite panels/pages in the manga) was Luffy's shadow in the sky. Triumph!
-
We're expecting that, but if Oda decides to have the Strawhats move on and get a new ship, my respect for this manga will exponentially multiply (as if said respect wasn't high enough).
No question they will get a new ship. But how much of the old ship makes it to the new ship will be the question.
I mean…..they did leave a disciple of Tom behind so there's gonna be something nice waiting for 'em when they get back.
-
Man, I've cried like a baby at pretty much all the flashbacks and other sad parts. I also went all mistyeyed when Ruffy rang the golden bell, it was just so intense D':
One Piece is the only series I actually get emotional over, Oda is such a good storyteller <3
-

Yeah, that was pretty freaking amazing. Skypiea had many emotional parts, actually. The Norland flashback, the ringing of the bell, and Conis' father taking "God's Judgement" were all pretty emotional. Some others would have to be:
- Nami's Flashback
- Chopper's Flashback
- Robin's Flashback
- Vivi's Speech
- Bon-Clay's parting words to the Mugiwara
- The Oath
- Arlong Park
- Sanji leaving the Baratie
- Usopp VS Luffy
