The one with Stan Lee voice over
!
The one with the more footage!

Reviews are starting to roll in and they're mostly positive. Apparently everyone but Danny is great and while the plot still takes time to build it's significantly more agile than the normal 13 episode series.

Lol, wouldn't be surprised if this turns out true.

I hope that's just the bad impression of his show talking but if not at least Iam already used to Danny being subpar.
-
I remember the producers saying that Defenders is sort of like the second half of Danny's origin story. So if it results in him maturing and finally getting a damn mask, I'll give him a shot. But if he sucks, well… I'll still enjoy the banter where everybody else is bound to make fun of him.
-
Oh crap, Defenders got released while I wasn't paying attention. Guess I have to go and actually finish Iron Fist now.
-
Defenders was satisfying. Nothing amazing or ground breaking but way better than ironfist or the second half of luke cage. Solid 7/10 from me. I'd sign up for a second season
-
I don't know what my opinion will be going forward so I have to say I really appreciate Danny in Episode 3
! Let's make it clear that I don't like Danny in genral. I left iron fist wanting to tell him to go fuck himself for leaving Kun-lun powerless and being such an entitle rich boy incapable of seing it. But once Luke call him and start doing about his war in a more sensible way it gets interesting.
! I love the speech he give them about how he will destroy them and being the iron fist. The moment when he confront the hand through his business rather than his usual punching style it works perfectly. -
10 mins into the show, and Charlie Cox already gives one of his best perfomance, while Fin Jones acts like he is trying to act, but don't know what the fuck he is doing.

The ending of episode 6 is probably the biggest laugh I had in a while.
The series does have some problem but the high points are so high and the interactions so enjoyable that you can only enjoy the thing. Even Danny works when you take him as the naive rich boy that keeps throwing tantrum but no one takes seriously.
-
Just finished it. Beware of spoilers.
! It was good. It was very nice to see the casts of the different shows interact with each other and that's what made this show so much fun to watch. The only thing I found disappointing was Alexandra. She did not really do anything important other than control Elektra (and die later on) and the other fingers of the hand felt far more threatening than her. Oh and I thought that it was obvoius that Matt was going the survive since DD S3has entered production. What kind of bullshit explanation will they use to justify his survival?
! I don't think that the Hand is done for though. I don't really think that Gao is dead.
! Overall it was good but not great. Worth a watch purely because it's nice to see certain character interactions.
! This is how I would rank the Netflix series:
JJ S1-DD S1-DD S2 -Defenders S1-LC S1-IF S1 -
That fight scene in episode 3 was soooo much fun.
And yes, their interactions are seriously the biggest highlight so far. Even Danny's interaction with Luke Cage were spot on.
Oh, and that opening is fucking amazing. Easily my favorite after DD opening.
-
-
I didn't realize it was only going to be 8 episodes. I finished it so soon lol.
Overall it was enjoyable. I liked the characters all together and interacting. Iron Fist is sadly still the weakest addition.
! I dunno. Danny just seems pretty stupid to me. Especially his bright idea of confronting the Hand in a meeting like that. And omg he really does tell everyone who would listen about his tragic backstory.
! I still don't care about Elektra. She's so uninteresting to me. And I still don't get what her motivation was after she killed Alexandra.
! The name at the end Maggie. Should we know who that is? -
I only realize it had to be 8 episode at the start of 7. I kept wondering how they were going to stretch it to 12.
The interactions are definitely the highlight of the season although I would have like a little more of the side ones. I even manage to enjoy Danny(more for how people dismiss him than his character but that still something). He was that kid in the group everyone keeps teasing and making fun of.
I also manage to enjoy the hand something I wasn't sure I could. But I'm not gonna lie that by the end of the season I still wasnt sure what their plan was. Or more accuretely it seems their goal kept changing.
Anyway in the Defenders was an enjoyable series. I really liked the characters(except Danny), I loved the interactions(including Danny), I was interested in each of their lives and personal story(except Danny) some of the action was good. Sadly it was far from being great as most action scenes were as engaging as usual, the show a long time before engaging the premise, there is an incredibly funny but uninteresting twist and the finale has some serious problem.
! Danny is not the best martial artist of this world. I have been saying that for some time and it was enjoyable to see Matt dominate.
! The first 2 are a long set-up but Once you get to episode 3 you hit a pretty nice groove.
! Stick was awesome.
! I love the relation between Luke and Claire I hope it does not break up. Also he should get a job.
! I wish there was a little more of Claire and Matt interacting. I would also have like some more Foggy/Matt interaction. This are my only big regrets in terms of interaction.
! I was hype by the consequences of the defenders committing domestic terrorism to save the city but it didn't ammount to nothing. I hate that.
! I suppose Gao is still alive but considering she said it was the end it's going to be difficult to explain it.
! The plan of the hand was really confusing. It seems they wanted to go to Kunlun(why not when the door was opened?) and that's why they stayed alive but then they open a passage to a dragon's inside and their goal was only the substance. There was also something about them not being able to be discreet.Freaking confusing.
! Defenders are supposed to be more grounded and more street-level so I can understand those that critique a lack in those aspect. I could also have gone for a less over the top plot. Especially if it's that confusing.
! The defenders was really a Matt story rather than a Danny story and I was surprise by that. But I actually enjoyed it very much.
! Matt kept making me thing Superman from BVS.
! I liked all the fingers of the hand in some form. In this particular setting the one I was the less interested in was probably the leader. It seems like an interesting character but we met her at the point were she was a liability. The most bland was the japenese one. WHen he was talking he kept my intention but there wasn't much to him.
! One thing I was surprise by is how much I enjoy the interaction between the fingers. In the first episode they had Gao be totally subservient and I was worried that was going to suck all the interest in it. But thankfully that dynamic was quickly scrap for one were they have a leader for sure but each of them is an important member able to challenge each other. This made for interesting conversations and dynamics.
! And I also loved that they had they had their priority straight(except the dying leader). They can backstab each other all day long and try to kill each other but once the time come they will band together to accomplish their common goal. One of my favorite moment is when the Wolf guy and leader are about to fight and suddenly Danny drop in front of them. Quickly they put their differences aside to move forward in their goal.
! My biggest regret has to be the premature death of the black finger. He seemed much more interesting than the japenese one. As I watch the series I was interested to see a season where the enemies are the hand without he leader(she had lost priority. Or maybe just Gao, black finger and Bokuto.
! I will actually miss the hand. The black one didn't get time to shine and Bokuto had potential to an interesting on going foe for Colleen. I really enjoy his shtick this season. -

Luke and Claire.
! I am waiting for that relationship to crumble. Luke is supposed to be with Jessica as far as I know. While I like Claire as a character, I don't really like her with Luke.
! Also I'm trying to picture Misty and Danny and I really can't lol. I don't think they've talked at all. Plus he's with Colleen I think. Which I feel is okay. But tghey aren't that interesting to me as a couple. Colleen was a tad bland. -

! Do you consider they lack chemestry or that their relashionship is toxic?! I don't think it'll last because of who they are and their goals. With Jessica she's enhanced and he knows she'll more or less come out on top. Luke strikes me as the sort of dude that would be too protective of Claire in the long run. Even if she wants to be more proactive. And it's a tad worse cause she tries to lay low but she's openly dating a hero that wanders around in broad daylight and doesn't wear a mask or uses a codename. She's an obvious weakness. Either one of them will probably come to that conclusion. Or they should. I think Jessica and Luke are a better fit, or are at least would offer a different couple dynamic. We've already got kinda 2 other couples with a powered dude and a normal but determined woman.

To be fair, Charlie Cox was actually giving his all in this show so of course he ended up being the single biggest highlight for me.

But that's what it seems like currently to me as everyone is as of now. There is nothing interesting about those couples.

I gotta say that this might actually be my favorite of the netflix marvel shows aside from DD S2. All the character-stuff was really great though Iron Fist was still the single biggest weakness.
Whoever decided that The Defenders should have 8 episodes made the right call. None of the stuff felt dragged out, and I enjoyed the shit outta every second of it.
The single biggest surprise for me was the Daredevil/Electra relationship stuff. While it was fairly mediocre in DD S2, I felt that they really did an awesome job here, and I was really invested in it.
Just watching this show reminded me of how much these shows are superior to the factory-made MCU movies.

! I enjoyed the character interactions. Matt & Jessica, Danny & Luke.
! Stick was awesome, pity he was killed off. He's 1 badass old blind dude
RIP old man.
! I was a bit disappointed by the leaders of the Hand. Given they're supposed to be what over 2000 years old? ( If we are to take what Stick said about them being responsible for Pompei ) yet Bakuto should have easily beaten Colleen, and the Japanese guy….not impressing either, even though i did actually quite like his character.
! Madam Gao was the only one that actually impressed when the fighting went down.
! Overall pretty good i think. I enjoyed it.
! 1 las tthing. I'm annoyed by the fact that it was never fully explained wtf The Black Sky actually is, what makes it so special etc Other than it being a weapon for the hand... -

! 1 las tthing. I'm annoyed by the fact that it was never fully explained wtf The Black Sky actually is, what makes it so special etc Other than it being a weapon for the hand...! Just because you are old doesn't mean you are the best fighter ever. They seems to be much more focus on actually amassing power than straight up fighting. I mean Gao herself only use the force to push people. The black finger could stop Luke's breathingand the leader was supposedly really skilled. They are all good fighters but it doesn't mean they are the best either. Especially when it doesn't relate to their goal and is mostly useless. Gao got lucky by getting two people that have no martial skills and only their special powers.
! But yes Bakudo should beat Colleen easily which I think he proved capable of. He just gave her a fatal opening while slicing Misty's arm. Otherwise he dominated the whole thing. His lost during the rain fight was much more troublesome to me.
! As for the japenese I assume they didn't have enough time. It's like the black finger that was dominating Luke but suddenly he was captured. I'm sure he normally is stronger than Nobu that was on par with Matt at his best(and maybe a bit stronger).! I don't think it'll last because of who they are and their goals. With Jessica she's enhanced and he knows she'll more or less come out on top. Luke strikes me as the sort of dude that would be too protective of Claire in the long run. ! I would be fine if Luke had went from Jessica from the start but at this point I consider it would be backtracking. With Claire they talk about jobs, supports each other, discuss like grown ups and bang happily. They feel like a real couple. With the mess Jessica is I'm pretty sure half of time they would be fighting to be a couple or just be two powerful fuck buddies hanging out. Plus she killed his wife and had him bang her while keeping this info to herself.
! Also considering how long Claire has been around I doubt breaking up would make her any less of weakness. Or that Claire wouldn't point out that it's kind of late for that. Hell she has been putting herself in danger for some time and I feel he already accepted this are the people they are. But I guess Luke could just date a cop. There job is to be in danger anyway. I just don't picture him going back to Jessica since he seems to take a much more realisitic spin on relashionship than the usual we are fated to be with each other. -
Ehhhhhh…..Defenders was alright.
-
S.J. Clarkson nailed the visual energy of the first two episodes. I wish she had directed every episode because her dialogue scenes really drew me in. I've had next to no interest in the films for the past few years, but if Clarkson directed one I'l definitely see it in theaters.
-
Only three episodes in. So far, it seems like Sigourney Weaver is making fashion statements with every new scene she's in.
-
Started off good but didn't like the pacing in the middle. Like they were saying the same thing over and over. War. War. War. Army. Army. Army. Stop talking about the Hand being dangerous and show us. Liked the main character interactions, especially Jessica crapping on everyone. The secondary characters needed more to do, especially Colleen.
! That line Colleen said about not involving the other Defenders made no sense. They need allies, you not gonna get better than three superhumans. One minute White Hat is kicking Luke's butt, then we cut to him being captured. The hell? And the Hand, I'm done with the Hand. The individual members (not counting Gao) should've been developed more. I didn't care about any of them except Gao. Guessing Danny's gonna give Misty her robot arm, nice. She'll probably quit the police force and form Heroes for Hire with Luke and Danny. I guess the immortal formula is made of dragon bones cause I don't think they explicitly told us. I guess Maggie is Matt's mom. Matt better not have amnesia.
All in all, I wish the series was shorter, six episodes maybe, with a tighter pace and a plot that included more of the second bananas.
-
Finished the series earlier tonight.
! I genuinely all of the main cast, including Danny, though Jessica still remains my favorite. Alexandra was a great and compelling character, although a bit too vulnerable to be a truly intimidating character in her own right. Elektra, I thought, also turned out quite well and was improved from her so-so role in DD S2. The rest of the Hand… not so much.
! Madame Gao, as always, was great, but she was the only good finger. Bakuto was just a retread of his role in IF, the African Finger wasn't around long enough to be that cool, and the Japanese Finger was hyped to be extra deadly but never really did anything. Their dynamics together were good, but sharing the role of antagonist as a group rather diluted their memorability.
! I think this series is probably the most uneven of the Marvel Netflix shows. The first episode and some other sequences, like the Elektra training intro, were downright painful. A lot of the dialogue was horribly clicked, and some of the fights felt impersonal and lacking tension. On the other hand, the character interactions and drama felt generally strong and made for some really fun scenes. I'd probably place the end result just above DD S2 but still well below S1 and JJ. -
All in all, I wish the series was shorter, six episodes maybe, with a tighter pace and a plot that included more of the second bananas.
Something that could be said about EVERY marvel/netflix show to be honest.^^
-
Holy shit they got an actual native Japanese speaker for a Japanese role.
First time in MCU history as far as I can tell.Daredevil always used absolutely horrible gibberish Japanese so this is a nice change.
His acting was stiff, amateurish, and over-acting, but you know, baby steps.
-
It was okay. If only for some of the action and a lot of the protagonist character interactions that complemented each other nicely. Besides that, everything is underwhelming. Iron Fist is still a mediocre superhero. He does have bits of more likable portrayal here than in his show, but I always felt like it occurred in a "one step forward, two steps backwards" pendulum.
! I had hopes that Danny would improve as a hero and overall person. The series tries to frame it like he did. But he's still as much of an imbecile as ever. He bumps into Elektra in an almost humorous fashion and stares at the dying foreign guy instead of focusing on her, which lets her escape. I write that off as more wonky choreography, but it still looks weird.
! Later on, he tries to beat down that cleaner kid for information even though he makes it clear that he doesn't know anything about who he works for. They try to spin that into Danny receiving criticism from Luke about how his rich upbringing and privileged entitlement are issues blinding him from realizing that he should rely on his connections instead of solely fighting an ignorant one man militia street war of brutalizing clueless impoverished minions trying to feed their families, which I liked. It made plenty of sense and it seemed like it would actually help Danny become a better and more unique superhero. We get that in him looking at the Hand's affiliated shell companies to learn about Midland Circle, which is cool, but then…
! He just walks in to their high-rise boardroom meeting to give out a war declaration. What did he possibly think he was going to accomplish by walking into the heart of the enemy's HQ to deliver some trash talk? Did he really think everything would work out if he coincidentally met all of the Hand leaders in that room and somehow managed to kill all of them in broad daylight while having no evidence of their crimes to make public? Compare this with how we saw the complex downfalls of Kingpin and Cottonmouth in previous Netflix shows and this thought process of stopping crime is a complete joke. I know they're a shadow organization and have a lot of supernatural stuff behind their scenes many people wouldn't believe, but still. But hey, we at least got that cool shot of Luke tanking bullets while covered behind him. That really makes me wish we got a Heroes for Hire show instead of second seasons for either of their shows, but I digress.
! So Iron Fist is lucky that the other Defenders are there and he escapes into he restaurant. For all of his character faults, Danny became the most tolerable and even entertaining in the restaurant during episode four. I liked seeing him be the only one giddy about forming a superhero team (even though it's a bit weird that he told Colleen in episode one that he wasn't comfortable working with anybody else, but she kind of convinced him to try so it works). Seeing him act jovial about eating the food there and how he respected Stick since they are both invested in the war while Matt's turned off were nice interactions. I still wish that Danny at least told Luke that he was right and asked about what happened to the kid. It would have been a good moment to see Danny humbled about a brash mistake he made getting a helpless young civilian killed. And it was nice to see that Danny both respected and conflicted with Matt in general, since he praised his heroics as Daredevil while Stick dissed them but questioned how a blind guy could fight and got antsy about being called a kid.
! But then Iron Fist goes straight back to idiot territory after White Hat gets decapitated by Stick. For some reason, he gets really uptight about the Hand thinking that the Iron Fist is a key instead of a weapon like K'un-L'un told him he was and that the Hand only manipulates people. I somewhat get the latter part, but why get so upset over a semantical argument? This guy didn't even know about how he could do yoga to replenish his chi during the first season of his show or the existence of the Chaste being his designated army in general, so there is no reason to be bothered about not knowing an additional capability of your superpower. Is it REALLY that hard to ponder that if you call a weapon a "key", then maybe it's intended to open something by being so destructive? That whole conflict was stupid and Danny should have at least been lenient on either gaining more information or using this tactic against the Hand if they want him so badly instead of rushing out into war. Actually, I don't even really think this is consistent with how he interacted with Alexandra in the restaurant by hearing out her offer despite everybody else dismissing her while remaining steadfast with his loyalty to protecting New York. He was open to hear what a leader of the Hand had to say to him earlier for the sake of curiosity, but then is the only one to dismiss everything the Hand has to say as nonsense without any shred of consideration? C'mon.
! So Danny gets tied up and barks threats of breaking out with the iron fist like you might expect. I did like how Danny bonded with Luke a bit in this scene, especially when Luke dismissed Stick's meditation as magical mumbo jumbo while Danny defended it as a different perspective on life. Danny was ignorant about people from Luke's background, and now we see Luke being ignorant about people from Danny's background. And the twist of Stick wanting to kill Danny was quite clever and in-character for his steadfast pragmatic personality. It's a shame that Elektra killed Stick before him and Matt could ever really have any scenes as memorable as in season one and two of Daredevil.
! At the end of the seventh episode, Danny fights Elektra after being captured and stupidly activates his iron fist to defeat her. Which, of course, gets directed into the wall guarding the substance. I saw that awful cliche happening episodes ahead of time, but was hoping to myself that they would find a more clever way of tackling the climax of the story than that. Ew. So much for Danny's character development.
! Finally, we get that last glimpse of Danny watching over New York in the night. I have a feeling they were trying to go for an "Iron Fist is taking over for Daredevil" vibe, which is alright. It slightly reminds me of comic book stories like when Iron Fist wore Daredevil's costume during Civil War to protect Matt Murdock's identity since Daredevil was arrested (meaning that Matt Murdock was also conspicuously missing), as well as Black Panther protecting Hell's Kitchen for a while instead of Daredevil for some reason. Although I'm still not excited for a second season of Iron Fist, and I only pray that Marvel listens to all of the criticism that has been expressed. I only cut Defenders some slack despite coming after season one of Iron Fist since it's obvious that they were developed simultaneously in the scriptwriting phase, meaning that it was sort of too late to really improve much about Danny's characterization.
! But c'mon, where is Danny's costume? The green and yellow track suit he wears in that final glimpse actually looks nice and can work as a part of the suit, but he needs the freaking mask. Actually, why can't Danny just inherit Matt's first costume? With some color dyes, mild attire tweaks, and some eyes, it would actually work perfectly. It would have been a great way to make Danny honoring Matt's memory more impactful than just getting whispered "protect my city". What a wasted opportunity. As for how I feel about the rest of the show:
! Matt, Jessica, and Luke are cool. I wish that Matt and Luke bonded more outside of the mask reveal tension in the restaurant, and the same for Danny and Jessica. I also kind of wish they would have talked about or referenced the Punisher in some way (having them discuss their morals on killing would have been a very interesting discussion), but maybe that can be saved for a second season.
! The Hand is as ambiguous and bland as ever. The Japanese guy never gets any interesting moments outside of when he was about to betray Alexandra (I like how they subverted that by having Iron Fist captured right on time lol), and I suppose it's nice to see that they can focus beyond their petty squabbles towards what is important. White Hat was a bit interesting, but got killed off prematurely. Luke defeating him off-screen was underwhelming as well. I would have rather seen him do cool nerve strike moves in the final fights of the series than have Madame Gao force pushing to compensate for the actress' lack of physical prowess from old age. Speaking of Gao, she was fine this season. I like how her power is to rely on diplomacy, mind games, and secret alliances rather than directly antagonize people (which she does in Daredevil and Iron Fist too, so it's nothing new). I hope she comes back. And Bakuto… is decent. I'm indifferent to him. That sword slash stunt where he ignited the gas in the parking lot looked sick. But still wanting Colleen to join the Dark Side after everything that's happened was pointlessly cliche at this point.
! Alexandra was boring and bland. There was potential, but the fact that she didn't seem to be based on any pre-existing comic book villain in the trailers concerned me. And rightfully so. I don't mind her getting killed off, and the way it happened was a bit funny. But Elektra wasn't a good replacement. I don't care about her bond with Alexandra at all with how forced and generic it is. And the stakes don't change at all when Elektra takes over, it's only a surprise for the sake of a surprise. I don't even get Elektra's motivations outside of being irked that her ex-boyfriend's epithet wasn't pronounced respectfully. She hinted that she wanted immortality to be with Matthew, but still tried to fight and kill Matthew. Ugh, it was a mess.
! I will give Alexandra credit for one thing. As weird as it might sound, I was into that scene in episode two where she found out about the wall blocking the substance from Madame Gao. The way she was able to organically piece together that K'un-Lun containing the substance instead of destroying it meant that it was being preserved as a contingency that needed to be accessed through some sort of secret method/key. Connecting that concept of a key with the Iron Fist since that is K'un-Lun's obsession and the logic of how a powerful super punch might be enough to break a tough wall written with a dead language was really clever. The villain coming to a conclusion like this so briefly almost felt like cheating, but it was executed in a way that logically flowed well. I like that. It almost reminded of the type of psychological/tactical thought processes that happen in Hunter x Hunter lol. Although this only makes Danny's conflict with the Defenders about not understanding how a weapon could semantically be the same as a key all the more pointlessly idiotic.
! Juggling between The Hand wanting immortality and to return to K'un-Lun were boring motivations. Destroying New York is instead more of a distant by-product of gaining immortality, which is a boring way to create stakes. Not having them tangibly affect or attack New York outside of that earthquake was a boring way to operate. The Hand is just boring. And we still don't know why the Black Sky is important. It carried over the trait from Daredevil season two of throwing epic-sounding terms to seem important when they don't have any actual substance behind them to make us understand or care. I only hope that Madame Gao survived, but I have no idea what she can contribute to future plots now in a new way besides starting a neo-Hand. I just want the Hand to be completely done with, unless they go the route of having Kingpin recruit Hand ninjas when he returns like in the comics, which would be awesome.
! I wish the supporting characters of each series interacted more. All we got was Colleen and Misty by the end of the season. That quick scene between Karen and Trish felt pointless, and it was a bit humorous to see two blond media ladies that act as damsels in distress in the same room for some reason I can't put into words lol.
! The Defenders deciding to commit domestic terrorism might trigger some people, but I loved seeing them take on such a bold controversial tactic. Their shows are about street-level vigilantism, so it's compelling to see them to make questionable choices when forced with ultimatums with their limited manpower. The only part that is underwhelming about this is how they got away with this stunt without any consequences. No arrests, no casualties, not even any collateral damage outside of the Midland Circle building. So that feels disappointingly unrealistic and cheap.
! Daredevil sacrificing himself to try redeeming Elektra was selfish and stupid. Especially when it almost backfired when she cut the elevator wire that nearly killed the rest of the Defenders. I'm not a fan of the whole femme fatale trope in superhero stories to begin with since it can easily tread into dumb situations where the protagonist risks both the safety of himself and others for the slight chance that they could be a good person deep down. She made her choice to kill the heroes and destroy New York. Kick her ass and haul her to prison like she deserves, and when she isn't in the middle of almost destroying the city or killing your friends, THEN try to take the time to talk some sense into her if you still somehow care. Daredevil and Elektra's interactions in season two felt more organic and understandable since the latter character was a selfish anti-hero instead of being a full blown yandere megalomaniacal villain here. Matt deserved to die for being such a blithering idiot.
! Having Matt survive for a reason that will inevitably be an asspull is also stupid. I don't care for how him meeting his mother is apparently being rushed either. I was expecting them to save that for an adaptation of Born Again (probably the most famous Daredevil story of all time) during season three or four when Fisk is released from prison. Damnit, is it to much to ask for seeing Matt get stabbed in a snowy alley by Turk in a Santa Claus suit?If I were to rate the show, I would give it a 6/10. A decent popcorn experience during a summer break where you have nothing better to do. But a part of me feels like that rating is being a bit generous.

@Count:
It was okay. If only for some of the action and a lot of the protagonist character interactions that complemented each other nicely. Besides that, Iron Fist is still a mediocre superhero.
Compare this with how we saw the complex downfalls of Kingpin and Cottonmouth in previous Netflix shows and this a complete joke.
It's a shame that Elektra killed Stick before him and Matt could ever really have any scenes as memorable as in season one and two.
! At the end of the seventh episode, Danny fights Elektra after being captured and stupidly activates his iron fist to defeat here.
The perfect summary .

The first image for Luke Cage season two just released:
!

Looks nice but I don't like the transparent part.
-
! Misty's Bionic Arm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeessssss

Alright, I've finished Defenders now.
! Like everybody else I enjoyed the interactions between our four protagonists. And I also quite liked all of them individually. I haven't watched Iron Fist so this was my first outing to Danny Rand. And I had loooow expectations. He was fine though, he brought a different dynamic. Jessica is still the best because she can say stupid lines and actually make me believe that a human would talk like that.
! Why did Trish, the best sidekick, not simply eat the other sixnot get anything interesting to do? She introduced us to the earthquakes and she ended the season by informing us that it was just another wacky New York event. Cool.
Not that other side characters had more compelling plots. Besides Danny's confidante. And Misty who really has the most thankless role of any of them. She continuously made sense when opposing the Defenders but at the same time I of course didn't want her to keep the story from unfolding. And she got fired, maybe?
! The Hand was more than faceless ninjas so there was an improvement over DD S2. Instead the Hand was 3 or 4 fighters who kept battling the heroes but neither side ever really lost so we could see them fight again. This whole season was really just a series of fight choreographies with weak background plot to make that happen. Throw in a brawl between the Defenders because yes, I do want to see that. But…could you find a better reason for it happening?
! So yeah, I needed better motivations and sometimes better dialogue. I liked everybody's acting and on the whole the show did keep me entertained even though my eyes weren't glued to the screen. -
IGN released its review of Inhumans early but quickly took it down. They say it sucks on every level.
-
It'll be back up again in 6 minutes when the embargo breaks.
TV Insider says "ABC’s laughably asinine Marvel’s Inhumans, about an otherworldly family of cartoonish royals notable only for how seriously they take themselves. Few mortals will be likely to make that mistake" and Vox adviced people to buy gas for a road trip instead.
Obviously I can only look at this with utter glee and think Marvel completely deserves this for pushing this worthless franchise down people's throats.
-
I wouldn't go as far as to be happy that Marvel made something that didn't land. I understand what you're getting at, but they're really not "forcing them down our throats".
Can you really blame Marvel? They want the success they know they would have with X-Men, have a property with very similar origins(right down to 'aliens messed with our ancestor's genes'), and have had decades of characters and stories to pull from.
It's sad they didn't pull it off. They had something they easily could have turned into a GoT level show, even with a smaller budget. We've seen them turn characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy into household names. They had a very interesting property that they had been building up for 3 years now in Agents of Shield.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the success of Ant-Man and getting the green light for Spider-Man in Civil War is what changed their minds on the Inhumans. When they announced the original Phase 3 lineup with Inhumans, they still didn't have confirmation on using Spidey. Ant-Man had only recently shown that Marvel could still get people into the theaters with another unknown hero to the general public after the Avengers and still make it enjoyable. Once they got the go-ahead with Spider-Man they already knew they had two major successful film series' on their hands. Why take another big risk with Inhumans when they have properties the know will sell, in addition to the other knew heroes like Dr Strange, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel.
So they bumped the project of making a movie that would hopefully create sequels into an 8 episode show with an Imax gimmick to try and get some money back on the property they spent years getting ready for.
It's bad because even if you never were going to watch an Inhumans show, or enjoy the characters, it still directly effects how Disney will look at how their money is spent in Marvel. They've had success with the Netflix shows, moderate success with Agents of SHIELD, but are making tons from just the movies. Given all the other side network stuff like Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, and whatever other maybe-not-maybe MCU canon shows about to come out, this not being successful will directly impact how those shows are judged and how Marvel chooses to adapt their heroes.
To sum it up, it's dumb to be gleeful that Marvel tried to make one of their smaller groups of heroes into a big franchise like some of their others, but made other choices and decided to half ass it, making a weak link in an otherwise pretty solid collection of TV Shows and movies.

You won't get me this time Marvel. I learned from Agents of Shield. Someone here will have to bite the bullet and tell me when Inhumans gets good enough to watch.
! Looking at you Huschel

BUT AGENTS OF SHIELD IS GOOD NOW!! IT'S BEEN GOOD FOR 2 SEASONS! Runs through the halls shouting about how good agents of shield is at the top of his lungs

I hadn't quite made up my mind yet on whether I'd be watching this. But it does have Iwan Rheon. And let's be honest, it's only ever gonna be 8 episodes. So fine, I'll let you know. :P
I also appreciate Apprentice's post but maybe I should be worried that one of my alt accounts has become sentient.
-
I honestly was going to see it in Imax, but with the reception I just don't think it's worth the money. Which is a shame, I mean it's Marvel! But like Huschel said, it's only 8 episodes so I'll watch it to pass time until AoS comes back.
In retrospect, really wasn't their best move to delay SHIELD for Inhumans
-
Besides Imax. How are we supposed to watch it? It's not Netflix right?

Agents of SHIELD isn't premiering in the fall like it usually does, Inhumans will be airing when Shield normally does.
I assume like SHIELD, it will be put on Netflix slightly before the dvd for the season is released.

So…Maybe a weekly Hulu stream then?
