Jefferson Davis gets statues and high schools named after him, Lincoln is treated like Satan for the next 150 years.

I just hope that they portray Rutherford B Hayes and the Republican Party faithfully as fucking idiots
Trailer TONIGHT!!!
Dammit, now I have to make sure I stay up. Then when I see it the rush will keep me up till 3:00am.
I knew it, he's going to fight Cthulu.
Is this Marvel?
Yes, definitely looking forward to Batception.
BWAAAA~
BUWAAAAA~
I still don't know much more than I did before the trailer, but I'm along for the ride.
I love seeing Marvel movies on some of the lesser properties that I don't know much about. Granted, Doctor Strange isn't exactly as obscure as, say, Guardians of the Galaxy was before their movie.
Is this Marvel?
bows
I only have one problem, as I will always have: whitewashing. No offense to you, Tilda Swinton.
But that's not Benedict Cumberbatch speaking with an American accent, is it? It's too weird.

Not like a white comic book character hasn't been changed to a minority or anything.
Not like a white comic book character hasn't been changed to a minority or anything.
There is a vast difference between taking one of the thousands of white characters and making them a minority…. and taking the handful of minority characters and making them white.
Especially when that race of the white character doesn't inform their character in any relevant way other than "they were created in the 60's by a bunch of white guys like 98% of the Marvel universe and that was just the default at the time. There's very few white characters where it's actually important to their character or backstory that they be white.
Like how it kinda matters that Iron Fist actually should stay white. Although people wanted him to be Asian apparently.
Casting Tilda as a small Tibetan monk and acting like nothing is wrong is a bold move. So is using Inception as your money shot tbh.

If anyone can convince me that they are a Tibetan monk, it's Tilda Swinton
Apparently the idea their going with is that the Ancient One is this incredibly enlightened being that transcends ethnicity and gender (but will still use feminine pronouns because of practicality.)
Of course why they had to be played by a white actor beyond the idea that white = default is anyone's game.
Get it? "Homecoming"?
Civil War review embargo doesn't lift until 90 minutes from now, but Empire already released its 5-star review to wet some appetites: http://www.empireonline.com/movies/captain-america-civil-war/review/
Get it? "Homecoming"?
Am I looking at the logo of the next Spider-Man movie or another TV show?

Tilda should have been the last Airbender.

I knew what it was for just snarking on how generic looking it seems.
100% With 12 reviews so far!!!!
The Fresh reviews are also VERY positive, the movie's gotten several perfect 5s!!!!!!!!!! None of them seem lukewarm!!!
Hype…Intensifying...

8.8 average score after 12 reviews.
But is it better than Thor 2? #importantquestions
14 reviews, all fresh. Compared to BvS which had 13 rotten and 1 fresh at this point, it's quite an improvement :P
Ouch…all these comparisons to BvS are not doing that bomb of a movie any favors. With these two movies so close together and remarkably similar in theme and concept, I don't even know why Warner bothered to even be so reckless with their franchise by inviting immediate comparisons.
Thor 2 is easily one of Marvel's Weaker films, but I really liked it. It was easily better than the first too since it has all the things that made the first one great (Thor, Loki, Thor without a shirt) but removed the one big thing I hated about the first one (The fact that Thor and Jane met and fell in love over like, a weekend)
BvS was originally supposed to come out in July 2015 and Captain America 3 was only revealed to be Civil War in late 2014, when BvS production was well underway. It's an unfortunate coincidence for Warners, which of course doesn't excuse their turd of a movie.

That's the metric being used !?

That's Batman Versus Superman, right?
Call me old fashioned but everytime I see BvS I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
No matter how many movies Batman or Superman are made, I will still think BvS that way!
Those dudes can't replace Buffy (no matter how much I hate that name)
That's the metric being used !?
That's the trend I think, all I know is that I read 50 pages of BvS scientifically determining that it's better than Thor 2.
I hope everyone can sleep better now.
"Tear away the powers, abilities and egos, though, and the third Captain America movie is at its core a deep exploration of friendship and family and what sacrifices should be made to hold onto both."
Well looks like i'll be surely loving this movie.

I'm guessing you won't be watching a shitty cam rip of this one ;)
IGNorant gave it exactly 7.8…. did this have too much water too?
What's wrong with a 7.8?
Nothing, it's just the exact same score they gave Pokemon ORAS, the one they criticized for having "Too Much Water" so I thought it was funny.
Consensus opinion seems to be that Civil War is top three in the MCU so far. The only film I've occasionally seen specifically stated better than it is Winter Soldier, but that might be because it bears the most comparison. I'd be curious to see how people think it stacks up against Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers given that those are all radically different movies tonally.
Anyways, HYPE

No way it would happen, but how hilarious would it be if he played the Vulture?

Doesn't change the fact that they have good characters from other races that should get used and they don't use them, but instead change other characters skin colour.
In this case, this just seems a case of let's pander to the woman this time, if we don't put a woman in the movie(put Clea in the movie ffs) they will complain and boom, plus they make an asian character doing being all "ancient Asian like"(I know retarded expression) and people complain it's stereotyping, if they make a white guy in that role(Iron Fist) they call it whitewashing (he is white and he is supposed to be a foreign learning Kung Fu, so yeah), people will find a way to complain either way.
I though the white argument only counted for men.
Like how it kinda matters that Iron Fist actually should stay white. Although people wanted him to be Asian apparently.
Exactly.
The problem is people who don't give a shit about it before they see them in a movie, but want to complain about without have no knowledge of anything, if they make Shang-Chi into a white dude I'll be annoyed just like i would if Iron Fist was an Asian/Black.
Like some crazy Tumblr people are actually saying they will boycott Iron Fist because of it, so the series might be just as good as Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

There have been rumors, Vulture will be in the movie, but they aren't sure if he will be the main villain, I think that actor fits Vulture pretty damn well.
Of course he'd be perfect, he was Birdman afterall.
Some dude in another forum was arguing me that he believes MoS was a better film than any of Marvel's films, and that BvS is a great movie and Snyder is a genius.
So uh yeah
I dropped all attempt to refute since I felt like I'm talking to a religious person.
Not like a white comic book character hasn't been changed to a minority or anything.
Except you know, nearly all of the characters are white to begin with and there are hardly any Asian characters at all.
Between the Mandarin and the Ancient One, two of the very few distinctly Asian characters who have both been whitewashed in the films, I'm starting to wonder if Feige just doesn't like us Asians starring a major role in his films.
Except I guess for some reason a minor Asguardian viking god becoming one.

I'm gonna call you like-minded because that's been happening to me too.
And hey, Katzztar, there's nothing wrong with that name!
! APHRODISIA: The new kid? She seems kind of weird to me. What kind of name is Buffy?
GIRL: Hey, Aphrodisia!

Says you haha no really my problem stems from the time I grew up and the clichés that were in school at the time. Buffy was a name for preppy gals. Only time I uncounted real people to have that name were preps (sometimes rich always stuck-up)
I was a head-banger (listened to Heavy Metal, wore leather and ripped jeans) Preps and Head-bangers did not get along at all. The rivalry was just as bad as what would exist between two high schools.

[hide]That is as bad as Nymphadora! Poor Tonks no matter what way she went with her name the shorter versions pretty much suck.
Tonks= "I refuse to be called Nymph or Adora! … and Dora is a geeky name! [/hide]

Almost everyone one here seemed to treat it with the same reception they treated Iron Man 2 with.
