@Mr.:
Amazing Spiderman 1 > The Avengers
Weeeeell, its been a while since I watched The Avengers, but I don
t know about that.
@Megadoomer:
I think all of Raimi's movies hold up pretty well. For a while, I thought the way that they handled the Goblin was weird (it make him seem like a Power Rangers villain in terms of appearance), but it seems like the alternative would be CGI that would quickly look out-dated, so what they did worked. Even the much-maligned scene of Peter dancing in the third one gets better once you notice that he's the only person who even remotely thinks he's cool, and everyone around him is either confused or just finds him weird based on their reactions. (plus, all of those changes to his personality seem to be a much better reason for getting rid of it than in the comics, where he wanted it removed because it was using his body to fight crime more than he already did)
I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I really hate when a movie unintentionally makes me feel ashamed for watching said movie. A couple of days ago I happened to rewatch the Peter-dancing scene for the first time since Ive seen the movie in the cinema and man, it was way worse than I remembered. I mean, I
m sure Sam Raimi intended it to be over-the-top and silly, but it`s just incredibly cringe-worthy.
If I were to rate the 5 Spidey movies, it would go like this, from best to worst:
Spider-Man 2: Easily the best movie so far, and I think everybody could agree on that. Dr. Octopus is done perfectly, and that is the only one where I liked Peter and Mary Jane´s relationship. Oh, and J.J.J :wub:
The Amazing Spider-Man: Yes, I´d rate this one over the original one. I think it gets a bad rep for remaking a not so old movie series, but in itself, I think it is done better in most regards. I like Andrew Garfield better, I like Emma Stone better, and I like the villain, too. The only thing done better in the original one was the death of Uncle Ben imo, that one was a little more effective.
Spider-Man 1/Amazing Spider-Man 2: Hard to choose. Again, I prefer the cast of the new version, but Id say, even though Robby pointed out the problems, the Green Goblin is still a lot better than Electro. Electro never did much for me as the villain and I
d say he kinda worsened the story. I do like the new version of Harry over the James Franco one, and despite that it feels a little shoe-horned in at the end
! Harry attacking and killing Gwen is a really tense, well-done scene. I love that they dared to go through with killing her like in the comics, especially because Emma Stone was so lovable in the role
Spider-Man 3: Yeah. I remember I liked the Sandman and thats about it.
Oh and sorry for disrupting the Aunt May fest. Since I`m not an avid comic book reader, I had no idea she had as many badass scenes.
