Well, now to play the guessing game of whether the character designer/animation director will be Sato for a four-peat or if he'll finally be let free.
This is all guessing on my part, but I feel there is enough evidence to support my claim.
Sato will be the character designer and chief animation direcror, as he wasn't the chief animation director of the special for a reason.
The director's gonna be Otsuka of course, especially since the movie opens in summer which probably means the production of the movie already started a while ago.
And who else other than Otsuka is a strong director and has been MIA?
So, unless they surprise us with one of the younger directors, I think it's obvious who'll handle the movie. -
I like Sato's designs, but I wouldn't be bothered if a new character designer took the reigns for this next film.
! Preferably Koudai Watanabe, but that's probably not going to happen.

Strong World and Z were good, Gold was half-disappointing in my opinion (Sabo, Lucci and Spandam put there at random). Hope this will be better than the previous one.

Yeah, I would rather Sato actually moved over to the anime.
His style isn't my absolute favourite, but I think his a stronger character designer than Hisada, and considering that Hisada's been doing loads of key animation for the anime, maybe his stepped down his position for a little while to allow another animator to take the role of character designer? Its complete speculation but its at least interesting to consider. Will be interesting to see what does and doesn't happen.

Summer, so it's still about 9 months minimal from now.I could imagine there's already a trailer after New year.

If Toei shares a date I can coordinate going to Japan with when it comes out. I know some might say why spend any time sat in a cinema whilst on holiday but the opportunity to see the latest One Piece film on the largest screen possible with the best sound would not be something I'd want to miss.
I also hope the film is decent. The last three have been strong additions and collaborating with Oda only seems to have helped.
In any case, let's see what new information we learn at Jump Festa in December.

maybe those animators are going also to work on new film 2019?
i remember back in dressrosa when koudai watanabe did key animation for the first time in anime while the film gold is in production (not sure)

While I did like how Oda made Shiki and Z canon characters. I did not like how the movies were not canon.
So I am hoping maybe, this movie will be like Gold.

Continuity had never mattered in the movies and they can be enjoyed without it. -

In the context of what you were saying, you were implying that Film Gold is canon, even though there's no possible way for it to fit into the timeline.My point was that not a single movie has been considered canon to the story. Amd it shouldn't matter.

Because Shiki and Z are canon but their movies were not. To me it seemed like a waste of character. We will most likely not see thoae characters in the canon material, and while enjoying the movie would not like a movie based on a Canon character.
I want the film to be more like Gold, because Tesero is not canon himself so hes not a wasted canon character in a non canon movie.

I wouldn't say Zephyr is canon because he's never been namedropped or referenced in the manga.
As for Shiki, if that mysterious figure sitting with Crocus does turn out to be him, then it might be too soon to list him as "wasted". -
Who cares. You can view the movies as your own head canon if you desire even if like in the case of Gold it would be impossible.

Just a thought, but I dont believe that them having not appeared yet makes them wasted. And im very glad those films were decanonized. The power-scaling gap problem becomes apparent in them immediately. Why no G4 against Z? how can preTS luffy even touch Shiki age be damned the previous generation were monsters.

However, Z is canon. The timeline confirms it. Just not the movie.

This is super nitpicky and trivial, but man instead of all the great scenes from WCI to choose from, they decide to go with a generic shot of Big Mom swinging her sword :getlost:. Punk Hazard could have done better than the Caesar fight too, maybe Law's speech about Destroying the Gears.
A big metal colossus makes me think of Kid, but that doesn't seem right. I hope Rox isn't wasted on a movie.
