Luffy told his crew to run and before that they were trying to find a good hiding place but I doubt Kaido would consider Luffy a coward.

Also nobody will convince me Animal Kingdom Pirates sounds cool. His epithet is still king of beasts yet it is Animal Kingdom Pirates. I mean at least call him King of Animals if you're having that name for the crew

Beast fits more if you think about kaidou and his 3 calamities beasts( beefcake Mammoth or dragon), but if they got many lower ranked silly normal animal zoans( like the 500 artificial zoans) animal Kingdom fits more, or zootopia:ninja:.

The animal kingdom pirates name instantly makes me think of the nox pirates every time I see it mentioned. Then I go, "oh, wait, they are talking about kaidou and not the minks!"

I like the fact that at first it's only Luffy we're centering on. The crew is split up at first and we only have one man discovering things in this first few chapters. Gives Wano a little "First Person Action Adventure Game" feeling. Plus, it's a nice sidenote that Luffy is isolated at first himself, a small parallel as to how Wano is isolated from the world.
Also, I liked the background drawings and the whole coast. Well done Oda!
Basil Hawkings serving under Kaido was kinda expected. He doesn't have Kid's stubbornness and fiery temperament to challenge the King of the Beasts. Though, I guess, these exact traits of Kid will be rewarded in the end with a decisive role in Kaido's and the Shogun's downfall. I mean Kid has the "Most important Supernova besides Law"-Bonus

Most likely the WG doesn't know. Gang Bege was worth about 138 million at introduction back at Sabaody Arch. and now he is worth 300 million just for joining BM territory. Not much is said about what he did in the timeskip but we can presume the bounty raise is for joining a Yonko… so Hawkings would have the same bounty as before if he imediatly joined Kidou and was sent to Wano.
On the other hand we can pressume that WG have spies in Kaidou's crew (Drake theory) and they should know that Kidd is prisoner and that Kaidou encountered all three of them on that island and also that the last 2 probably joined his crew.

It was stated nowhere, it was a deduction because Oda didn't show anything significant that he did in the timeskip, it just states that he ventured in BM territory and got defeated by her-thus joining the crew.

Well, with newsmen like Morgans around, word like that is bound to get around, especially with the triumvirate of Hawkins, Apoo and Kidd all being either drafted or captured by Kaido. And I have to wonder, is Hawkins doing this solo move because he wants to prove himself to Kaido (even if the end result is so he can try to defy him later) or because he's already trying to distance himself and senses an opportunity to openly declare his escape or intent to violently rebel? If it's the latter, then good for him. And honestly, if you're looking for a means to an end, there's no better place to look for it than in the company of Luffy. Even if the goofball doesn't know what's going on, odds are he's going to come out on top regardless of the opposition or circumstances. I'm kind of wanting to see a victory come completely by accident just for laughs, like something where the Tamatebakko exploding sets of a chain of other uncontrolled events and just by pure luck, everything falls into place over and over for the Straw Hats. I had this moment of thinking Dragon didn't control weather conditions but possibly controlled the odds of events happening a certain way (that was probably due to a mistaken interpretation of something that happened in Gray Terminal on my part, but it's been too long for me to remember accurately) so maybe now that they're getting closer to their formal encounter, he's hoping to keep his son alive to see the world change.
