Chapter 886 : This Ish The Way I Live

…...................... 1st
time to read -
Great chapter.
Go Bege!
-
ok chapter..thigns sped up finally and we jumped quite a lot in the future
bege's situations reminds me of when he was cornered in sabaody..i wonder if he has something like a fleet inside him too to counter the encirclement.
also,yay, weremink.
I would stillrpefer for luffy NOT to defeat katakuri..but seems like i was wrong and oda wants to put another notch in his belt.
-
If Bege has the cake on the ship, the others won't there to shoot him
-
Am I the only one who feel sorry for Pound, who ended up getting beaten up by Oven after he was this close in reuniting with Chiffon? The latter saw his face and not knowing who he was because of the fact that Big Mom discarded him after giving birth to the twin daughters. However, I get the feeling Pound will intervene to protect Chiffon again and she will learn that he is actually her father. Loving the Rayleigh flashback and more Haki explanation and I'm really looking forward to the continuation of Luffy vs Katakuri fight again!
-
So, what's the significance behind Carrot's words? Wereminks?
-
Sanji kicked Oven good, hope this put Sanji is weak meme to rest.

Minks showing their 'true side' (Feral? Berserk?) when exposed to the full moon? Or it could be a reference to the whole 'Rabbit pounding on a Mochi on the Moon'?

nah,it was already hinted at zou that it's something that has to do with all the minks
-
I really don't like the pace of the last 30 chapters or so, but whatever.
What I liked in this chapter:
-Bege sniping Oven with a gun
-The cliffhanger. Hope it puts an end to the Katakuri worshippersSanji kicked Oven good, hope this put Sanji is weak meme to rest.
I think he already kicked him like that during the wedding
-

This time Oven dind't even saw him, he just knew it wasn't result of Pound's pound.

But it's a sneak attack. Oven's attention was totally focused on Pound
Anyway, Sanji dodging Katakuri's bean was more redeeming
-
The whole "How dare Oven hit his sister?" (who tried to kill his mother) and then "Yay, Capone the traitor saved his wife from the punishment by shooting her brother in the face" rubs me the wrong way.
-
Hmmm.
Luffy in a fight to go to the next level.I wonder when the other fighters of the StrawHats will get that.
I still hope he doesn't outright beat Katakuri, cuz i've really grown to like his character.
-
That panel with Bege pointing his gun while holding Pez was badass as fuck! Also, good thing all his offensive power comes from firearms, so maybe we'll finally see them being effective in OP.
This time Oven dind't even saw him, he just knew it wasn't result of Pound's pound.
He didn't react in time, but he definitely was able to see someone else attacked him based on MS translation ("who was that person just now?"). He couldn't identify Sanji, but that's because he is in disguise.
Still, I believe this level of speed is something Sanji is showing for the first time (not sure since I don't pay that much attention)… slowly this guy is informally becoming a Rokushiki master it seems.

A better version:

Did the rule for the DenDen Mushi face changed ? It is several time now that it is drawn with the face of the receiver. Wasn't it the countrary before ?
Otherwise Bege is cool indeed, I must say I wouldn't have said that a few years back.
-
There might be a loose neuron in my brain but I found Brulee's honesty creepily endearing . Nowadays Twig-girl is getting used to snatch 'piggyback rides' around the mirror world… lol
-
One thing I don't get, if Luffy is moving through towns using the Mirro-world, how come Katakuri is not taking the change to attack him whenever he passes by? It should be easy to predict from which mirror he is coming with his future vision (or Brulee could simply scream to warn him).

Yup, at first the Den Den Mushi reflected the person who was speaking, but now it seems the Den Den Mushi reflects the appearance of its owner. I think it changed at some point during this arc.

Blue walk under water, i bet it was fast for being where he was -

he is attacking him i think, otherwise he wouldn't be talking about katakuri's stamina..we skipped a pretty big chunk of the story… remember that before the randezvous we had something like 10 hours..no way oda was gonna show all of them

The whole "How dare Oven hit his sister?" (who tried to kill his mother) and then "Yay, Capone the traitor saved his wife from the punishment by shooting her brother in the face" rubs me the wrong way.
On one hand, I can get the part where Bege the traitor is supposed to be seen as a hero, but you should remember the fact that Chiffon's mother beat her regularly for simply looking like her sister, whose grave betrayal to the family was running away instead of forcefully accepting a political marriage with a giant she did not want. Plus, Chiffor did not try to kill her mother, she simply did not do anything against it.
-
Decent chapter, but I'm disappointed that we skipped over Luffy escaping from Big Mom. It makes last week's Nuts Island cliffhanger feel kind of pointless.

Well, he has Burle. He just found a mirror jumped, presumably fought Katakri in G4t, ran out of haki and escaped again to Chips island. From the dialogue he could have went to another island before chips if we go by MS's translation.
-
-
So Haki sorta follows the "Sayian-like" rules to get stronger, eh?
Or to be exact, it follows the "getting stronger after every fight" trope, only in Haki's case, it's only with extreme battles rather than just any kind of battle.Oh and Oven, you're a dick. -_-
-
Wait so Sanji is that fast?

I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, I'm just saying I would have liked to see Luffy escape. Just throw in a page of Amande blocking a mirror and Luffy dodging around her (or something) and I'd be okay.

It follows the "if you practice something you get better at it" life rule.

Yeah, you're right about Chiffon, but still, the way Oven was depicted as despicable for just wanting to punish traitors feels wrong to me.
Big Mom pirates were shown as bad people for their underhanded schemes (the roulette and killing the Germa), yet when it is someone allied with Strawhats making the schemes, everything's okay. I liked Bege's flashback because it confirmed that Luffy would have not allied himself with such person in other circumstances, and I personally want this tone to be kept, but this chapter's panel composition shows that the Firetank pirates are the good guys, which doesn't entirely sit well with me. -
If Sanji was really that fast, he would have ended Oven –and everyone else except the sweet commanders-- way sooner. It's just a sneak attack depicted with a soru-style.
I mean, it's not like he was slow eitherIt's just the drawing and all. Same thing, is Coby that fast ?
http://i5.mangareader.net/one-piece/432/one-piece-63432.jpgIt follows the "if you practice something you get better at it" life rule.
Exactly, there is nothing new in it

-
I really liked this chapter. It also looks like Sanji isn't done with Oven. I know it isn't popular for a character to help through sneak attacks, but I would love it if Sanji helped Bege win through underhanded means. It would add a bit of realism to the situation in which the mission and saving Chiffon & the Firetanks is more important than his pride and recognition
Also, this chapter seems to imply Oven having heightened CoO given that he found Chiffon right away after she was taken away and hidden. Does this mean he might see through Sanji's disguise if he gets a better chance?
As far as Jinbe & Co, I am guessing they are about to fight the Smoothie armada givne Jinbe's line about getting ready to fight and the allusion to the full moon. Again, implies a major brawl will be brewing with them too.
The Luffy decision is going to be controversial to some, mostly because it is a very Goku-esque decision–choosing to fight the strongest dudes in order to surpass them. However, this IS something Goku has done in the past and he has declared "I WILL SURPASS YOU!" at least a few times in the past. Again, realizing he needs to treat fights like training. The only difference here is that it is haki he is planning to hone.
This itself may be a good development because we may finally get concrete answers on each type of haki and how it works.
-
So what if the Minks turn into humans on the full moon since they are already animals?
-
Pretty great chapter. Loved the panel where Sanji gets the jump on Pound, it's good to see him in action like that. As for the moral implications of Oven and Chiffon…I didn't view Oven as a monster, I just rooted for Chiffon. Which I think was the intent there. She put on a good display of courage and didn't act like a victim.
Overall, a lot happened this chapter, and it was pretty fun.
-
So sanji is the fastest SH. And going based on his dream to be invisible, he just was invisible. Bounty poster, mr prince, and now speed based invisible to normal eye.
and dam, mr prince is back with glasses.
Oven vs capone it is, he beat his wife and captured it. Daifuku is for sanji.
if cc also gets perospero…. the last 2 volume covers show that. And would like to see the bounties of oven and daifuku to know where they stand compared to perospero and sweet commanders.
Anyway, werePedro will return and battle tamago.
-
i still dont get bege's sentence (the title of the chapter), so what he means by his way of life is to never surrender? doesn't it imply that he's willing to risk chiffon's life? i don't get it.
-
@uniaka:

Actually, Brook is the fastest. Sanji is the second fastest (SBS 85). Which is no knock on Sanji, we've seen how fast Brook is.
-
I find it very entertaining how Oda deliberately makes this very morally grey character, Bege, unabashedly the one we are rooting despite twice attempting to execute Pekoms (once in the back) and Oven being ethically in the right from his POV. Well, aside from that distasteful decision to use his wife as a hostage to draw Bege out.
Also the title panel itself with Pez is both heartwarming and a little messed up.
Which begs the question–will Bege allow Oven to live if/when he saves Chiffon? If this weren't One Piece, I wouldn't expect Oven to walk away from this, given that it would still be in-character for Bege to execute him after he was soundly beaten with Sanji's help. Though maybe Bege will still go to town on him.
-
Decent chapter, but I'm disappointed that we skipped over Luffy escaping from Big Mom. It makes last week's Nuts Island cliffhanger feel kind of pointless.
Agreed. That was kind of a weird moment to skip. Seems important enough to show.
-
@Mr.:

I think it's a little ironic that they're saying this about Oven's CoO when like immediately beforehand he got completely blind-sighted by Sanji's attack.

Won't be surprised if the reveal is all Carrot's.
-

Violence, maybe. His way of saving his wife taken hostage is shooting the person holding her in the face instead of complying to their demands. Bege is a person who entered a Yonkou territory and tried to kill her while her whole crew was surrounding him because of the thrills. He doesn't have a hidden agenda, he just likes to attack big names because it is fun. He isn't the kind of person who respect authority or fear power, he will protect those he care about and his family but he will do it in the most offensive and violent. I think that's the whole thing about his way of living (and I think that panel deserved to be much bigger).
That said, I think it is sad he is apparently going to fight Oven while Luffy got Katakuri (and after fighting Cracker). But I suppose Smoothie is not going to ever take action, so Oven is probably the next best thing.

Not sure about saboisdeadSBS. Sometimes oda just jokes in there? Brook doesn-t really do impressive speed based things in combat like sanji and luffy. And sanji trained running for 2 years, swims as fast as a fishman, he can fly and now said to move so fast none saw him hit oven, not even oven.
It looked like small teleportation.

When did the SBS say Sabo was dead?
Brook uses speed in combat a lot. Don't you remember "I've already cut you"? Or when he used his speed to get into the Room of Treasure and locked Smoothie out.
-
Sabo is dead never was said by Oda himself. It's from one of the data books.
-
Bege just keeps doing this. He keeps being fucking amazing.
I'm really glad Oda brought him back for this arc and did so much for his character.Carrot's transfixed comment about the moon makes me excited.
Tasty foreshadowing of something cool she's gonna do. -
I think it's a little ironic that they're saying this about Oven's CoO when like immediately beforehand he got completely blind-sighted by Sanji's attack.
One could argue that he did notice Sanji's attack, but Sanji moved too fast for him to react.
-
Looks like everyone's going to get their time to shine, Sanji and Carrot too. Bege keeps having these standout cool and comedic moments, there was a time long ago when I thought he would be the most boring of the bunch, glad I was so wrong. Luffy taking an intermission to think about his personal growth and deciding to not run away but tackle his demons head on…that's definitely character growth. So many chapters dedicated to the fight and another couple more chapters to enjoy very soon, excited.
