Hell, compare the silhouette and basic idea of Big Mom at the end of Fishman Island. The emphasis on her stomach acid spewing out of her mouth doesn't make it to Whole Cake at all from what I can remember.

There's also that famous early villain concept which showed four unknown characters who had yet to appears. One of them was Hancock, but whoever the other three were, none of them actually appeared with that design (imho, the choinmage one was Oden, for example)

I want to guess dude with the axe will be Elbaf villain.
Good guess about Oden BUT these were villain concepts. So unless Oda had a wildly different initial Oden story its probably just someone that didn't make it in to Wano.
Hope Oda does use them though. I imagine anyone with some sort of firearm as a weapon has to actually better than the average and a boxing samurai/swordsman sounds cool.

Oda seems to change his mind so often on things, that a lot of the time he probably ends up keeping a few remnants of an idea in the event he scraps one so as to satisfyingly use them for later. He's definitely always one to squeeze the full potential of an idea as much as he possibly can.

Pretty sure firearm guy was a proto Mr. 5, due to the stars which fits the "5" theme. And axe man is clearly Brogy with some Wapol mixed in.
I'm also guessing that the chonmage guy was a proto Mr. 1 (the hairstyle indicating a "1"). A swordsman with a steel armor feels similar enough to the Daz Bones fight concept in Arabasta. Then Oda went with a more radical change, but Mr. 1 still retains a very characteristic eastern look.

I wanted to make these same guesses but I went with the villain theme.
As for Mr. 5, eh I feel like Oda changed too much then. He had a small gun to shoot booger or breath bombs opposed to a specific firearm.

This just seems like more of a reach.
The description is something but just going off design I see nothing close to it.

I don't think Oda had the concept for Wano back then. I'm assuming all the people in that image were meant to be early Grand Linee or Warlord related, since they were the big bad group at the time.
Oda is not averse to radical changes. Proto Moriah was something else entirely, for example.

I think it’s possible he had thought about Wano in some capacity in the 1990s, because of him having created the samurai character of Ryuma for Monsters.

I know he makes vast changes so no argument there it was just brought up in another thread how radically different the early Jimbe designs were but Hancock for one debuts hundreds of chapters later so I don't know probable it is to say Oda had no concepts for Wano in mind. He had already shelled out that shadow image of Kaido after Enies Lobby.
I don't even think the guy with the sword has to be some early Wano template at all. The guess mainly was going off the chonmage.

I thought it too, but this image has been reprised in an SBS after Hancock's debut to point her resemblance to the woman. I see no point to not say he was Dorry too. I used to guess all of those character but the snake empress were yet to debut by Amazon Lily arc.
Seeing like Oda hadn't the Warlords in mind by the beginning and the whole manga should've been about East Blue + Yonkou, it's also possible some of them were intended to be them, with Hancock originally being "Big Mom" and the samurai Kaidou, for instance. Also, the gun man gives me bounty huner vibes.

Also the manga was intended to be East Blue + Yonkous with no Warlords: it's possible a japanese location for one of the Emperors was already in his mind by then.

I actually do not believe this is Broggy; I recorded a video about this topic last year:
The key is the helmet design, which is thus far unique among giants, but perfectly matches Oda's rendition of Vikke the Viking's father Havlar from the supplementary material in Volume 2.

Volume 101 contain 10 chapters.

Great video, and great theory.
I actually watched Vicke Viking as a kid, so it is somewhat nostalgic for me.

Now that we know Swords have personalities and stuff, I would say this is solid foreshadowing that Klabautermann are dead people.

Guy in red: Lime Juice
Guy in white and blue striped shirt, orange pants: monkey guy, whatever the official spelling is
Guy holding sword: Building Snake
Guy with button up shirt and orange pants, face obscured: Hongo -
Also, you can't tell me ship Franky is the worst timeline.

Yeah, Literal Battleship Franky is most definitely the best timeline.
Also, I hope this doesn't eliminate the possibility of a future Mecha Sunny. Let's keep the dream alive!

Maybe, but it can also take a dark turn where he turns himself into a human weapon with less emotions like Kuma and spending the rest of his existence as a heartless destructive battleship.

Thanks. I presume Bunk was also in Chapter 1.

The 50 year old Franky in bad timeline is Oolong’s Robot transformation from beginning of DB

Thanks to EtenBoby.
Asking If if he knows about op youtubers
Oda: I know they exist, and I have actually watch a number of them. I am surprised, everyone is really detailed, and the theories too, they actually predict future story so I stop watching them lol
It's dangerous for me to consider all my readers to be at that level, after all there are plenty of casual readers too, I need to draw One Piece that can be enjoyed by anyone.
Seeing people that understand things so well will corrupt me lol, "ah I don't have to explain stuff here, they'll get it"
So yeah, I won't be checking anyone, just get along and enjoy….(goes on to promoting a recent program on the official YouTube channel) -
Does it have a name?
"Takeru"
related to this "I guess"

In the worst timeline, obviously Battle Franky 70 gets destroyed by the Marines and sinks.

This. Exactly this.

Honestly, as horrific as the effects of non-functional SMILE fruits are, I think Killer lucked out here…

Killer's fruit is hilariously sad. He may be emotionally scarred forever, but maybe that isn't so bad….

Huh, never heard of anyone owning orange and purple pants before now that I think about it. lol

Franky in age 50 and 70 !
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FFibhGCXsAIjpFR?format=jpg&name=medium
This is a quiet acknowledgement by Oda that Franky's design was better pre-timeskip. The hairstyle is back to classic, and the round shoulders are nowhere to be seen in the 70 year old version.
-
I suppose this is 28yr old Momo..
-
The idea of someone turning themselves into a living battleship has to come into canon. C'mon, Oda, you know you want to.
-
Aged 50 bad timeline Franky looks like Vitan of Whitebeard pirates
-
Huh, the table of contents in the online preview only shows up to chapter 1025
But if that 17 page chapter starts on page 169 it will end on page 186. That's 22 pages unaccounted for if the pagecount of 208 from the listing is accurate. How much fanart and advertising is at the back of this volume? Or is there something special we don't know about yet? There's literally a whole chapter's worth of extra space here!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Pretty fun SBS overall. I like that we're getting Shanks's crew at last, and it's cool a couple of them are actually recognisable in chapter one (unlike Roger's crew in Buggy's flashback). The long-term consistency of those two crews is something it'd be nice to see tweaked in a hypothetical anime remake somewhere down the line. There's actually a convenient five character gap in the Vivre Card numbers around Marineford where the five newly christened crew members could end up. Characters have been considered "introduced" with less than what they got there. (the flip side of this being that the gap doesn't quite line up with when they actually appeared and it was previously assumed to cover yet-unnamed members of the Navy's Giant Squad)
Also cool to see Ushimaru as Zoro's dad being shot down hard as a theory. That was always low-hanging fruit that encountered all kinds of timeline and logistics issues with how Zoro reached East Blue. Probably won't stop it from being reposted regularly on Reddit, but the deconfirmation is a start.
Bad future Franky and good Smile Killer are both 10/10
I should have written down somewhere that the dragon momo on the under-covers would end in something stupid like a Pandaman head because I knew it.
-
That's because he his grandpa
That or some sort of reincarnation mumbo jumbo.
To be honest that always made more sense. Like, Ushimaru was probably the same generation Kozaburo, how is gonna be the dad of a 21 year old guy.

That dragon Pandaman at the end there is the stuff of nightmares.
It looks like a fun SBS this time. The King eating panels are cracking me up every time I look at them XD
-
I still think Zoro is a Shimotsuki from his mother's side; I got the impression he and Zoro were related, but the timeline didn't quite add up for him being Zoro's father unless Zoro was born or at least conceived on Wano - and even then it was a stretch.
But it would be weird if all the Shimotsuki connections to Zoro went nowhere or were all coincidental.
-
Also, anyone with the volume (or seeing pictures of it online), how's the WT100 colour spread handled? Is it all together at the start of chapter 1024? Pagecounts suggest it's squashed into just two pages, which would be a shame. Would love a visual!
