Since I'm binging anyway I'll probably wait to actually hear Vergo but if the credits are back to normal I definitely want to see who plays him (although I'd probably hear it elsewhere anyway). I'm really hoping for Hunter Scott since I think the bass he has demonstrated would work really well for Vergo although he is still a rather small VA so I'm not sure how likely he'll be. Also I've said this before but this set just seems like it won't cover much ground plot wise to me. Of course I am not the most familiar with punk hazard ever but based upon basic summaries ive glanced over on the wiki it really seems like its going to be the slowest punk hazard set we have. Granted I should probably just shut my mouth and be happy we aren't in the thick of dressrosa yet, I'm excited to see a lot of that dubbed but I have a feeling it's really gonna test all of our patience. I am still really excited for the next set though, I love this cast and the new additions are top notch. I'm just really hoping that they don't forget to press the release button this time lol.

Hah. Unlikely they’ll forget this time, since it’s a bigger release. I actually am of the opinion that each PH set will be better than the last. The first seven or so episodes of PH were pretty boring to me (Luffy and co are on that lake for a millenia). Only the last two episodes of the first set were exciting and interesting, whereas in set two we get at more of Cesar and Vergo and co. But yeah, the first few episodes of this set will be a little exposition/dialogue-heavy.
Agreed on DR. I feel like there will be one great moment per set, basically.

More could've happened last set but the fact we were finally started punk hazard made it stick out a lot. The dragon stuff, kin'emons introduction, caesars introduction, monets introduction, law and smoker returning. It was just a lot of stuff we had been waiting for for awhile even if it could've been faster paced. The fact only 9 of the episodes were punk hazard didnt help either

I guess I’m coming at it more from a rewatch value standpoint, since I’ve watched these nine episodes probably ten times by now (just turn them on when going to bed sometimes). The first six or so suck outside of the introductions.

Actually while I havent rewatched them that much I have maybe… 3 times in total? Not completely sure but I have more than once so I'm rather familiar with them. But I mean yeah sure I can see that.

That was a bizarre situation. The DVDs of those episodes came out first, and they simply didn't credit an ending theme during the opening credits, because they knew Mirai Koukai wasn't on the DVDs. They didn't credit Eternal Pose during the opening until the actual episode Eternal Pose was supposed to begin on.
But when these episodes aired on Toonami, the shortened credits sequence mentioned Mirai Koukai, despite Eternal Pose being used during those episodes. Really strange.

I think it's worth mentioning that mirai kokai even has licensing problems in japan, pretty much every where it streams doesn't include it. When it comes to hands up like I mentioned before crunchyroll got the rights to it when they added the backlog.

Yeah kinda weird how they dropped the conventional trailers they have done for 47 dvd sets. We kind of got one for voyage 1 but that was after the fact when it got put on streaming. Clips wise though I'm at least happy they showed off some at funicon

Ah cool, I think the wiki actually guessed all of the VAs listed correctly which is surprising. They've come out every 2 days thus far so if we get anymore it should be the 30th. They could be done but I hope they list additional voices or give us VAs that appear in the next set.

It’s a fine arc, but redundant. Tends to be a gloss in people’s minds because there’s so much running around throughout. Some good plot twists coming up in the next set or two, though; I’ve always liked this arc more than most people do. Cesar and Smoker; Doflamingo and crew intros; Aokiji and the samurai introductions. Plenty to love.

I wasn't calling it bad neccesarily, I just havent seen it in 2 years and had a kind of hard time paying attention to the anime after the dub ran out due the pacing, and for some reason I found reading the manga really difficult, dont remember why though. So yeah a lot of punk hazard and dressrosa is blurry in my mind.

Law sounded EPIC and I am not even a fan of the character! Colleen sounded rough but still great…but I am worried this was due to the new directing. I fear if it will get worse from here.

She only really sounds rough in one or two lines, if anything I think this might be some of the first stuff she recorded after the hiatus. I really doubt she would ever be specifically directed to sound more gruff unless she was like really falling out of character. I feel like everyone prefers Colleen at a different pitch and gruffness level though lol.

It wasn’t the raspiness that sounded off to me, actually. The tone sounds a little different. Or maybe it’s that she fluctuates from raspy to not raspy within a single line.
But we’re notorious on this forum for over analyzing their two minute clips. She’ll probably sound fine in the full set.

lmao sorry but no "smaller company" here. It's also on the microsoft and playstation stores. Thia is inconvienent to me because I could only watch it on my laptop and/or phone, and I have $10 of amazon credit anyways.

Still better to support a smaller company; I wasn’t saying they were small companies, only smaller. Amazon is in the trillions while Sony is in the billions; Amazon also has nine times or so the number of employees. It isn’t just a little bigger; it’s a huge difference.

Maybe they’re having a hard time encoding it? The last set, they put up twice and listed all the episodes as “bonus episodes,” which would often appear out of order when trying to play. It wasn’t fun. They also listed it as “Season Ten,” not “Season Ten Part One,” so who knows if they have to renumber or reorder it all now.

I caved in and bought the set on microsoft, here are my initial notes:
-Joel is still the ADR director
-Hands up is in fact included
-Despite the new opening, the credits are still the same. This has to be a deliberate decision
-Hands up still features a reanimated gold logo, so it looks like funimation are dedicated to using it in the future despite toeis recent use of the blue one.
Thats it for the moment, but I havent even properly watched any of it yet.

On funimation now, netflix, and in various promotional tweets by toei, including ones for the dub. The gold logo was more or less exclusively used for over a decade, but for some reason it seems like they stopped caring about consistency. I mean I know we often critique toei and funi for being inconsistent but they were really good about this for a long time. Also not completely related, but I kind of hate how the official blue logo doesnt have the "Shonen Jump". It just looks wrong.

Lol, seriously though, I don't think using the Hands Up here was ever an issue. IMO whatever twisted rights issue that befell Mirai Kokai is something that will never happen again (for the dub, at least).

Yeah, it would seem as though Toei is trying to bring back the original blue logo in every instance they can these days (possibly to bring consistency with most other international markets that use the same logo?), so it's confusing as to why the gold one's still present. Maybe video post-production took place a long time ago on these eps., way before Toei decided to push the blue one again? Idk. Not that it matters that much, but from a marketing perspective, I think the gold one's a lot sleeker and more interesting. The Shounen Jump branding is also a plus in helping to advertise the manga.

Sorry for all the multi posting, just have a fair bit to say. Rock and Scotch sound... fine. The best you can really do with the characters. Both of them appear to be pitch shifted, I think Rock *might be Chris Wehkamp
