Chapter 825: The WE Times' Comic Strip

She get's the first night with every pirate coming into the family.
A manga about people on a boat fishing for food.
Yes, it's clearly a manga about people on a boat fishing for food.
Furthermore, i know this isn't the first fishing scene but i don't recall of something as mush similar than this.
Well, i guess i'll see in sbs. -
Toriko done the same thing. Except it was 10 times more awesome.
-
its not really that far-fetched that Luffy would take a far greater hit by unknown toxin x then y. The various forms of just mercury have and LD50 of 50ug to 200mg, tad more then 3 orders of magnitude difference. Also the intestine picks up toxins differently then skin or lungs.
Average reader: "Oh, yeah, there was no need to explain Luffy inhaling all of Caesar's instant death gas to no effect and almost dying here, because the various forms of just mercury have and LD50 of 50ug to 200mg, tad more then 3 orders of magnitude difference!" :ninja:

I think saying that the poison causes instant death was Oda's attempt at excusing Luffy's collapse. Like, it's really strong, but since Luffy has resistance to poison, he only collapsed instead of dying. Still a very blunt plot device, though.

That would add the 'tragedy' tag to the manga. But since, it's very difficult Big Mon demands the droit dy seigneur to the groom, because of her daugther is the bride, it would be Luffy who had to pay. Big plot twist: from "I'm going to eat all your candies" to "Yes boy, come and eat all my candies"!!

The average reader would think the poison of the fish is stronger than Caesar's poison. Because people know that not every poison is the same (duh).
You're really underestimating reader intelligence there.

@Long:
With her looking so damn similiar its basically confirmed by proxy
Still not Lola.
-
yea don't like how Oda decided to take out Luffy temporarily with the poison, seems really forced..I guess he didn't want Luffy attacking Germa 66 ship for trying to control Sanji's life…rest of the SHs won't do anything cuz they're shit scared so I am guessing they will get captured or w/e
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, I wonder what kind of fighting style Sanji's brothers and father use? Kicks? Hands? everything? weapons?

Still not Lola.
Yeah but I dont think oda would have an almost carbon copy lookalike of lola at big cake island and then swerve away from her being big mom's daughter, and say it's just a coincidence like duval-sanji.
Oda showing someone who isnt quite Lola but looks that close seems to hint at Lola, at least. Just like the sanji looking guy is pretty clearly related to sanji, (older or younger brother)

Hopefully a variety if we get to see any fights

That is not Lola.
It isn't? Looks just like her to me.

Still not Lola.
How is it not Lola? It very clearly looks just like her…
Okay...let me double check....
http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Lola
Yeah…still looks just like her to me.
edit: though the page says she's at Water 7 and doesn't list her on that page...how wierd. She looks the same so...is Oda just failing to make her look different enough like how Viola and Robin look almost the same and Rebecca and Nami look almost the same?

There's literally a picture of Lola with the Risky Brothers and the Square Sisters in that page. She still has long braids.
Oda made a character that looks like Lola intentionally, but it's not Lola.
-
A couple interesting things about this page.
Well, in regards to Lola differences, besides the hair and teeth differences, this girl has more heart-shaped blush marks.
The main thing I want to point out though, Sanji's last bubbles there said "Still… something reminds me of them..." or something to that effect when it was first translated (I'm 99% sure, because I remember at least some translation saying that). Mangastream changed/corrected it, I believe, and now it actually seems more clearly about Lola. -
Kinda meh chapter. Next week should be great.

Question time: Why are people relating this Sora guy with Sengoku or any current Marine for that matter when we already know that Germa 66 is an organization that have been around since Brook's time and I dare to link Germa 66 with the Void Century as well.

Just hyped myself up when I noticed that we're having cover based reaction stories
So far we've seen
818 Robin
819 Franky
820 Chopper
822 Brook
823 Usopp
825 NamiThe ones that should come up include
Sanji and Zoro, which means possible details about Ivankov ( related to either Sanji or the State of the Revolutionaries ) or Mihawk Generally cool to see. There is also the possibility of us seeing Rayleigh and that would be nice. Either way there's a strong possibility of seeing at least one of these three badasses around in a cover story and that's kind of cool right?
-
Do not forget Boa Hancock !
-
Do not forget Boa Hancock !
Pretty sure it will be Rayleigh, being Luffy's teacher and all.
-
Why not Rayleigh and Hancock ?

Because…
But, yeah, there is a chance he had this seagull in his hat because he is a fan of Sora, not because he is Sora.
-
I see no mention of the Pwgoat in that history, so definitely not Sengoku.

The current cover story is called "From the decks of the world! The 500M berry man!" (or something like that).
Zeff (linked to Sanji) and Koshiro (linked to Zoro) have already appeared.
And Luffy had Makino and the others.I believe the Weatheria people were the last ones.

The first round of covers where the people SH knew from their childhood, and now the second one is with the people they spend the last 2 years.

The cover story began by showing the homes of the Straw Hats, but it's now in the timeskip phase. That's why the other timeskip characters that are related to the Straw Hats are likely to appear.

Holy smokes. Wasn't paying enough attention. Thanks!

I was hoping for a reaction from Yassop. One would think k that by now, he's award of the fact his son has a 200 Million bounty on his head..
-

Pwgoat is the robot.
-

We'll get it while Yasopp is having a flash back. We'll get a panel of him looking at Luffy's first bounty, a panel of him questioning Sogeking's bounty, then another panel of Yasopp flipping out at the 200B bounty and realizing that was Usopp in the first few bounties he saw. Of course by then Usopp will probably be well into the 3 or 400 millions and Yasopp is only flash backing because he is about to be defeated in shoot out sparring match with his son.
Kind of like the way Crocodile and Doflamingo reflected on Luffy's exploits before they were taken out.
That's what I expect anyway.
-
The next cover story pages should be good. Ivankov's reaction to Sanji's poster and her update after the war with BB pirates. Also mihawk's reaction to Zoro…
This Sora hero will likely play a role in Sanji's story now or later, so it can't be sengoku, garp or someone that doesn't have even the smallest relation to Sanji.

Well, Sengoku did end up playing a role in Law's story, and I doubt many were expecting that.

or because the seagull it's kind of a symbol of the marines as a whole?i mean even their simbol is basically a stylized seagull
also,if the translation is correct,Vito himself says that sora is not based on a single person, but on marine heroeS
-
@Kaido:
Well, Sengoku did end up playing a role in Law's story, and I doubt many were expecting that.
Even more if Sengoku is related to law's past, I think it's unlikely that he is also behind sanji. This Sora guy could be the reason why small kid Sanji was able to go from his home all the way to east blue. As in took him away from his family.
Also, maybe this Sora is the reason why Sanji has ''alive only'' bounty. He recognised Sanji from the poster.
Garp is related to Luffy, Sengoku to Law, another marine veteran that could be related to Sanji is Tsuru. Even more if we take the old cover page into consideration( sanji with a ''secret'' suitcase and a ''tsuru'' sign)

Except there is no chapter next week.
Kinda meh chapter. The week after next should be great.

:pouty: Maybe a third time makes it the charm?
-
Yeah, that transforming robot is more than likely some proto-Pacifista.
-
The question is, how does Sanji fit into this Pacifista and Vegapunk deal?
-
Wait since Brook knows the Vinsmoke family wouldn't it mean the the Germa 66 / Sora stories are older than when Sengoku was wearing his hat?
-
It would be really cool if we got to see the comic strip, i'm genuinely curious about it now, the few details we get of it remind me of when Hannyabal expresses his feelings about pirates, and why he was so determined to do his part in stopping them during Impel Down. Makes me wonder, given its apparent popularity, how the comic strip could contribute to that point of view.
-
You wonder how an economic magazine can achieve success in brainwashing young people…
-
@.access:

Nope, the Seagull itself represents peace! Any marine can be wearing that type of hat or have the seagull logo on their attires

Yes! People just like to make stupid connections where there's none.
The robot on the story can easily be associated with how advanced the Ancient Kingdom was and the marines are just exploiting that aspect and another thing, it is said that Sora walked on water but aren't those Germa guys also on water?
-
You wonder how an economic magazine can achieve success in brainwashing young people…
Propaganda would be a better word.
-

Except there's only one marine who had an actual seagull figure on top of his cap.
-

Not only that. I wonder why Oda bothered to create a magazine for this comic when we already have the News Coo.
-
Except there's only one marine who had an actual seagull figure on top of his cap.
Our favorite Buddha.
-

Why would a kid reads an economic megazine?
-
Why would a kid reads an economic megazine?
I thought the parents read it and gave the comic strip to their kids. Wait that is too logical to be true.
-
Why would a kid reads an economic megazine?
That's is exactly the question I ask myself.
-
Yeah, why create an economic magazine ? Is Oda trying to put some complexity ? Well, I wouldn't mind.
