Hmm...perhaps Kaido is like what's his name....Kumadori from CP-9 every time he tries to kill himself he activates tekkai and the weapon fails to kill him.....perhaps its the case here....his haki is so powerful.....he subconsciously activates it when he is about to be killed....
But wow.....still...i'm loving the design...i just wanna keep staring at him for the next few hours in admiration...his huge size, that epic scar....and tattoo on his let arm.....

Finally seeing the swirly hats again. Seems like there's a vast strength difference between Sanji and Brook. Brook was barely holding off the sheep guy, while Sanji just oneshotted him. I hope Brook gets more epic moments in the future.

Kaido looks like a masterpiece from a masterful tattoo artist. Since he has a Zoan army, maybe he ate a Mythical Zoan that has some kind of (pseduo?)-immortality. Or he's been injured so many times that he has a massive pain tolerance. It did say he's been tortured 1000 times. I'm assuming all that torture, defeat, and capture was early on, before he became such a beast.I accept Jesus Burgess as my Lord and Savior

after reading aohige summary,i don't think kaidou is immortal,and he doesn't even have a "luck-based" devil fruit…it just seem so sturdy and strong that literally nobody knows how to kill him even if they get him subdued..no chain strong anough to hang him,no blade strong enough to cut or pierce him
even though that way how the hell the marines and other pirates captured him so many times?

And this chapter proves me right once again. Kaido's title World Strongest Creature actually indicates that he is considered stronger than WB himself.
Man or human can be categorized under creature, creature covers every single livingbeing so that makes Kaido the strongest livingbeing in one piece world according his title. People never believed me when I said it.
What does that really mean in the end? We were given the impression that White Beard and Roger were constantly at the top of their game while everyone else was a Silver Medalist. It's got to be impossible but we were given the impression that those two were more or less undefeated for some time. Kaidou may be more powerful but he has been defeated and contained by the Marines on several occasions. He may be stronger(what ever that really means) but it seems like White Beard had a much better track record.
On a completely unrelated note, if Kaidou wants to die so badly I'm sure he can come across a couple devil fruits and destroy himself that way. Or Magen he's tried and eating 2 fruits just equates to him having no power at all.

Swirlyhats, KHA Alliance and KAIDO?!
This is a far better chapter than I ever could have hoped for.
Classic Oda, shattering all the careful plans and theories that had been lined up by so many fans of the series.
Ok, should I have Kaido be revealed when Drake brings Caribou to him or when news of Doflamingo's defeat?…
...Nah! He's gonna attempt to commit suicide and crash headlong into a seemingly adjacent and completely separate storyline!
So intrigued to see where this is going.
Also, incredibly happy to see the swirlyhats in One Piece, meaning Oda actually managed to contain his urge to sacrifice Sanji at every opportunity.

I like how Oda always throws us curveballs! I bet no one thought kaido would look like that, or have that ability of being immortal (supposedly). Maybe he's not even a Zoan like so many people assumed! Very interesting chapter.

Usually I would agree but it seems like his captivity and torture were all part of his "hobby" of wanting to die and seeing if anyone could, I think that's his quirk made evident by his introduction. Speaking of which, if all those things that were said about him in those boxes were true then he would have survived Marineford if it was him instead of Whitebeard taking all those attacks head on. As far as destructive power Whitebeard could have destroyed the world, in terms of durability Kaido stands head and shoulders above all. Ultimate offense versus ultimate defense.

I did NOT expect the suicidal guy to be Kaidou, while reading the chapter. Thought it would be some semi-important mook that would tie into Urouge's plot somehow. But it became increasingly clear as you read it that this is some major player. What a great introduction with a typical severe personality twist from Oda to make it off-kilter. Strongest creature in the world: very suicidal.
His design is just as intimidating as it needs to be, too. Makes me wonder what Oda had in mind with the first outdated silhouette in Water 7, if anything at all. This is far better than whatever that would've resulted in.
I dunno what in the actual hell is going on with Sanji's group lol. I'll re-read that with both Aohige's summary and Mangastream.
Also! I love the lightning speed in which your plans can shatter in One Piece. "Hahaha!! Men, get ready, we're gonna take down that red-haired bastard!!" crash "What the hell?!" strongest thing in the entire world appears in front of them "…son of a"
He does not look that different from his canon silhouette from Water 7. The anime just fucked up like usual.

Big Mom is heading towards Kaido's Island if they are chasing the SHs. So this could end up as a huge battle royal with Kaido attacking everyone. He is going to have attacks coming at him from Big Mom at the very least and he is going to be pissed at Luffy and Law. Who knows what KAH alliance will do with Kaido in front of them. They could very well point him in Luffy's direction and take advantage of Big Mom's predicament and attack her with the help of Luffy, Law, and Kaido also being involved in the Battle Royal.

Remember Whitebeard and where he was in the war is equal to Kaido.
Also. Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world and Kaido creature. It's shown time and time again that hes the strongest creature. Look at his name, what fruits he wants and usopps reaction, "he's not even human?"
Nothing in one piece is impossible. He will be defeated at his level now. Who does Luffy kill anyway?

Doffy seems like the guy that keeps tabs on all the big players, so he might have done his research. Right now it's uncertain but I think Kaido is going to bail Doflamingo out and he may even try recruiting the KHA alliance "join me or die, choice is yours" all conjecture but he wants to start an all out final war so he needs his little bitch Doflamingo back to achieve this.

Makes me wonder if Kaido really went after WB two years ago to kill him… I think he fights to let people try and kill him.
He seems like the type that would keep people alive so that they can become stronger and fight him again. Maybe that's what happened with Moriah?

She was falling down at the fastest speed possible in falling. That's one hell of a drop to survive even if you had a safe spot.

I meant him fighting haha I know we've seen him do things but besides talking and drawing his sword to block an attack here and there (against Whitebeard on his ship and blocking Akainu's magma fist at Marineford) we haven't seen him fight anyone even 1% seriously (I say 1% because we haven't seen him fight at all).

The Swirlyhat 6! Fangasms occur throughout the world. Great to see it finally happen, though at the same time I really wish that some of the loose threads from Dressrosa were tied off for good. But at least we're getting to see the S6 adventure as it happens instead of completely in flashback.

I love Urouge and always enjoy seeing him. It makes me love him more that there are all those women in his crew. I hope at least a couple of them get more than this background cameo.
Oda certainly switched things around with the Kidd Alliance unexpectedly facing Kaido. Seeing as the only two panels we've seen of him have been screaming he's still cut from the Whitebeard-big guy mold, which surprises me a bit. I've been expecting something… unexpected I guess. Kinda dig the suicide-as-a-hobby approach to him but wonder if he was really serious (and a df user) why he never tried drowning. It's been suggested he has luck powers, but I don't see luck really helping with a straight drop from ten thousand feet.
If he really is as bored as he says then he's the type who'll really like Luffy. -

The chapter was a-m-a-z-i-n-g, the end was the best "oh shit" moment I experienced since CP9 revealing themselves.
