! The strings have finally reached the palace, and starting to shred it.
King Riku and Tank Lepanto joins the fight to push the Factory against the strings.
! Viola's attacks are no use against Dofla, and she's already hurt all over, bleeding.
Dofla asks her if she thought he'd go easy on her just because they spent 10 years together.
He says he forgives failures and mistakes of his people. But what he doesn't forgive is treason.
Dofla then controls Rebecca with his puppet strings to attack Viola!
! We see all corners of the city where people are helping to push the birdcage back.
However, Kyros notices his daughter is missing…
Gatz gets on the microphone and announces to the whole nation that the "Star" of the coliseum will rise again.
The people have no idea what he's talking about, and Cavendish goes "Star!? Is he talking about me!?" then notices Law is gone from his side.
! Gatz calls out the star's name, Lucy! Otherwise known as... Straw Hat Luffy!
He then goes on to explain the situation, and that although he has fallen for now, he will rise again and declared to knock out Doflamingo with a KO punch!
Gatz calls out Doflamingo. Are you listening, you false king. This will be your execution ring!
Gatz is provoking Doflamingo, in attempt to draw his attention away from Viola and Rebecca to himself.
! 10 seconds left until Lucy is up again.
Hajruden, Dagama, Ideo, and other restored gladiators starts falling to the ground. The time for their temporary healing has run out...!
Unfortunately Chiyupopo cannot be applied to someone who's already been healed once.
! countdown continues.... 6, 5, 4,
Sai commands people to switch places to buy more time
3 seconds left, everyone is cheering on Lucy's name.
! 1 second left, Doflamingo impales through Gatz.
! Meanwhile, Rebecca cannot stop herself, and swings her sword on Viola.
Viola tells her she forgive her, she has done nothing wrong.
! As Rebecca swings the sword, Luffy leaps in, headbutting the sword in half!
! The crowd goes wild, and Dofla smiles as Lucy reenters the fight.
Last fight is about to begin.
! End of chapter

That translation is remarkably bad, even by mangapanda standards. Half the time i couldn't have made out what was being said, if it wasn't for the context allowing you to realize what the characters were supposed to say

Whew, now THAT was a panda translation. And yet despite that the chapter got me genuinely pumped for the final clash. The gladiatorial metaphor and cheering crowds really helped the atmosphere for me.

Not a fan of the last page though. It's too busy; the best pages are those with beautiful scenery and a good use of empty space.

I can't believe this chapter, it was amazing! Oh man the feels, Oda does it again the countdown was intense, as if everyone was counting down for New Year's fireworks. I love how Gatz knew provoking Doffy would buy Viola and Rebecca time. I predicted Doffy was going to use parasite but not on Rebecca lol imagine how scarred she would have been if she killed her aunt. Yet, you think Doffy would be more clinical with the pair of them since he is looking for Luffy but he took the liberty to toy with them… I'm assuming Law warped Luffy into the battlefield? And what's that "Last Kong" note on the last page on mangapanda version, one last Kong Gun? The first one sent him flying, so it's true then Doffy is going to go flying into his own cage and that will undo birdcage. Amazing chapter, and here I thought I'd be disappointed.

Nice introduction by Gatz and the panel with Luffy breaking Rebecca's sword looks awesome as well. However, I don't really see Dofla getting one-shotted by Luffy next chapter, considering the amount of punishment he already tanked like it was nothing… unless Luffy has yet another new move to unleash on Dofla, which would be good because we really need some progress in the story.

I hope at least Dofla will give a fight now to G4 luffy if we are going to stretch this even longer. Stretching all this just so Luffy can 1 shot DD is awful.

I still hope DD tells him: ' The only reason you beat me with G4 was because I was still on the operation table, to repair my organs from Gamma knife. But the operation is now over, bring it'.

Seriously, this arc has really had extreme contrast. Started off as the best one in the entire series, then swung from great fights to cheesy fillers for almost a full year. As much as I was thrilled by Gear 4, the wait-until-Luffy-recovers chapters have been painful...

Nice point. Luffy was an unknown in the first round, and it wasn't really him in the finals. This is the rousing intro he deserves, and a good one for Mingo too. Assuming the translation is better.

The dialogue, however butchered by mangapanda – although the translation should not affect one's viewing of the actual chapter since Oda has no control over that, really bumped up the chapter several notches for me, and the Viola/Rebecca situation was truly fucked up, which is exactly what I'm looking for from a puppeteer/manipulator villain like Doflamingo.

If he didn't show us the downside to such an overpowered transformation you would have several angry mobs stating how Luffy is now too overpowered, or Luffy is now admiral level, how can gear second have life draining drawbacks but gear fourth doesn't? How can Luffy go from hardly tickling Doffy to absolutely dominating him. If it had no drawbacks we'd have seen him spam it. So while it's ultimately unsatisfying because of how much it extended the fight by it, sadly, HAD to be done.

I actually feel that this was a very good chapter. It really makes me pumped up for the finale. Finally, because the previous chapters weren't too good. Maybe I just like countdown chapters? The point is, I enjoyed it and its was very One Piece through and through.

It's funny in the sense that a lot of people wanted to see parasite be used on Luffy. But it's becoming rather clear that parasite doesn't work on people that are strong, even in the case of Jozu I think he wasn't manipulated by Doffy, but merely stopped in his tracks. I guess Doffy will have to pull a Bleach and explain all his abilities to the enemy (and readers) for them to accept this. Viola telling Rebecca that she won't be upset and to close her eyes, man this will translate really great in the anime (with music and all that jazz haha)

Except, in your ideal version of how things should be done Doffy would have been dealt with rather too quickly. Hardly befitting of Luffy's strongest opponent to date. Doffy was always going to outlast gear fourth, he's shown to be rather resilient.

I think these chapters will be a lot better for people who marathon the series, because the tension is amazing.

I really liked this one though, it got me pumped up and excited for the final battle, which should definitely finish next chapter.

The biggest thing I didn't like about this brief little intermission is right when Luffy went down he's like "Oh I just need ten more mintues and I can definitely beat him!" and all I thought was oh really? I can understand building suspense and all of that jazz, but as I and a few others have said earlier, if this drags on beyond next chapter it makes the last two chapters seem pointless. I have more problem with the pacing and placement of this than the concept of the side effect and when it hit itself.

I agree with you. I clearly remember the spoiler thread regarding Lion Bazooka: it was full of complainings about this.
Some people just complain, no matter what happens.

This is my firstv ever post out of sheer dissapointment with the whole thing. Oda could've done the last few chapters in 1 or 2 chapters mx. Bunch of ppl cheering, some ppl yelling at the birdcage, luffy recovering and doflamingo playing with fodders. Now we also get a break .

Now what i dont like abt this chapter is:

1- Rebbeca crying for help once more ( completly useless character)
2- The break next week.
3- The fact that an admiral and a lot of the new world' strongest fighters cannot push back the bird cage made by 1 man.
4- Law still being able to do anything ( im a huge fan.. but he gotta have limits)
5- This chapter added absolotely nothing ( atleast to me)

The thing that im afraid the most is that now he might feel that he dragged the story and cut out some of the good stuff to speed things up while he shouldve cut out the repetitive stuff like ppl cheering or crying for some reason, focus on things that doesnt move the story along or have any impact, and off panelling some scenes that wouldve mafe the story better.

How many times do we have to see the staredown or (here comes the final blow) or whatever, till this arc really ends . Plus if this is just doflamingo that took so long, how much is younkos and there allies gonna take.

Never thought i would say this abt onepiece but i am really dissapointed and want this arc to be over next week (i know this would never happen hhhhhh)

Trust me when I say I remember that thread clearly, so many whiny people saying "that was anti-climactic if that's how Doffy is defeated" haha. Sometimes Oda, or any writer for that matter, does find that middle ground where everyone is left pleased, unfortunately Dressrosa isn't one of those arcs

This arc did feel like it belonged in the anime with all the filler stuff but I'm firmly holding on to the belief that he's biding time to figure out what's going to happen in the next two islands. I don't think he's got it all mapped out. It's been stated that Oda knows the ending to his story, but the route to the ending seems like there's that element of making it up as you go along. If it's Yonkou territory next then there's a hell of a lot more at stake than a mere shichibukai.

Even with Sanji all that was shown was him being paralysed, I wish he would actually control a strong character's movements to confirm that he can in fact control the strong as well the weak. It reminds me of conqueror's haki in a sense, some are completely overwhelmed by it to the point of fainting, some are just so shocked that they're left with their jaws hanging and some are just nonchalant about it. (the stronger you are the less it affects you)
