my idea about gear 4: he is made of rubber and can change shape, so why not make his arm pointy like some kind of lance weapon, super dense like i read somewhere in this thread, and harden this with haki. He might not increase the overall power of his hits, but equal amount of power in a smaller area results on high perforation rate. Thats why nails have a pointy side and a flat side
Chapter 783: Path Blocking
-
-
As for Gear 4th…
Rubber can't be compressed so even if Oda goes by the pseudo science route that's out of the picture,
and Luffy is essentially vulcanized already so that would be pretty retarded for Gear fourth tooIt will most likely be haki or Gear 2nd/3rd related but I hope Oda surprises us.
Do you mean he is vulcanized as in haki or just in general?
-
Do you mean he is vulcanized as in haki or just in general?
My theory is that gear 4 is a full body vulcanization that makes luffy's body harder and stronger in exchange for losing his ability to stretch… Remember on PH when he started running full speed and the floor caught fire? i have a feeling every basic movement that he makes in gear 4 is the equivalent of a red hawk . . . now imagine that in combination with CoA & CoC

I wonder why Oda introduced the Phoneglyph in the cover page of he is not going to expand on it? When it was first shown I thought we would explore it in three weeks (after that chapter there was a break and the next chapter was a color page) and when that chapter came up we were treated with some pointless stuff no one cares about and I was waiting each week for Oda to finally expand on it and then this chapter cover page shows Jinbei is about to leave and there is no Phoneglyph anywhere near him so what was the **** the point of introducing it in the first place? Was it to get fans at the edge of their seats only to bombard them with stupid fillers? Unless Oda is planning an arc on this town, the cover story was a waste of time
Also does everyone notice a change in Luffy's character? In Arabasta, Luffy said everyone dies, implying that he does not care about people except his friends. He ended up freeing prisoners in Impel Down and did not care what danger to the outside world that may cause. In Fishman Island Luffy said he does not want to be a hero, otherwise he would have to share meat. However in Dressrosa; he gets worried about the country and when Doflamingo is shrinking the birdcage, he freaks out because it's going to kill people. In this chapter however he goes back to saying that Doflamingo is messing up with his friends. Do you think Luffy will finally care about the world?
-
Didn't really stop him from attacking Krieg. But yeah, that would make fight even more interesting.
When you consider it, someone who can make a perfect human copy of himself with strings should at least be able to make to protect himself with a nice armor. Since clone was called Black Knight, this would be called Black Armor or Black Knight Armor.
Honestly, I'm surprised his body isn't already covered with strings to protect his body from attacks. I've seen guys using strings do it in different manga, not to spoil anything.
! Lubbock from Akame Ga Kill, Daichi from Blazer Drive…
If Dofla can, along with making a perfect clone, keep his internal organs together with strings, making an armor or at least a partial armor with strings should be a joke. Add Haki Hardening and Luffy will have to pull literary EVERYTHING he's got to be able to win.You might say I'm more interested in Dofla's response to G4 than in G4 itself.

I agree with the first part. But too much fire would just be a slap in the face to Sanji, as it is one of the only things he has going for him right now combat wise.

In Arabasta luffy was saying that there is a war and people die in wars , not that he don't care if people live or die .
If luffy did not care about people dying he would not save FI from Big Moms wrath. -
So the magic word for G2 is "Jet".
For G3 it is "Giganto"
What will it be for G4 ?I guess it could be "Red"…or not! What do you think ?
-
My theory is that gear 4 is a full body vulcanization that makes luffy's body harder and stronger in exchange for losing his ability to stretch…
In a way, armament haki does precisely that while retaining the stretch and (it appears) generating fire, so there would be little point to it.
-
In Arabasta luffy was saying that there is a war and people die in wars , not that he don't care if people live or die .
If luffy did not care about people dying he would not save FI from Big Moms wrath.Good point, by Luffy declaring he wants to be the patron for FI, he showed thathe is interested in bringing others their freedom, even when he isn`t involved directly.
Shows his growth in character and that he understands that his strenght can be used to grand it for many people.
So Doffy standing in his way makes more sense, as he protects not exclusively his nakama, but rather all the people who want their freedom. -
I founded his complaints, for example, to be well argued, and valid.
Counter arguments to those… not so much.
Honestly, that sounds like bias.
kouch_lee's counter arguments were also pretty valid, but alas that's just my opinion. Thinking that Daz's arguments are well argued doesn't make them true (same for kouch_lee). One can make a good argument for anything.
Luffy is free to do whatever he wants, including joining Law to take down Doula Mongo. He's also free to follow his plan, or just screw it. Doula Mongo is on Luffy's way as a strong pirate that is the key to defeating an even stronger pirate.
-
So luffy and doflamingo both have taken lot of damage already before this final showdown and they acknowledged it so hopefully once luffy solos dd now , no one jumps in and says " but law … " . Luffy > DD will get fixed for sure something which at one point (few months ago ) was being denied by many .
As for gear 4 , well whatever it be but let that not be enough to bring down dd . I mean , i hope luffy would have to demonstrate something much more than gear 4 to take dd down . DD should also be having many tricks up his sleeve as of yet.
Hope DD is not shown as an easy cakewalk and lives up to his reputation.
So far DD did so only on 1 occasion and that was after taking in the gamma knife.Expecting an extreme extreme diff fight just like luffy vs lucci but with something much more than that (i mean creatively ).
Alright now its upto you oda.
Luffys damage is no where near what dofla has taken.
-
I'm getting on the Gear 4 Hype Train and may it be a glorious reveal . May it knock Dolflamingo's shades off!
But, I'm not surprise that Law wants to see Dolflamingo defeat or die because this arc to me basically centered around Dolflamingo and Law.
Also, Barto needs to calm down his tits or else He won't be able to know the strawhats outside his own geeking out. I gotta say that Cavendish just jump a couple more spots on my personal popularity list for being such a bro to Law. -
Well, this chapter certainly gotten attention from the LawLu shippers.
-
@Daz:
Luffy didn't need to go poke Doflamingo to continue his adventure, he didn't need the alliance with Law to proceed either, and his speech here makes about as much sense as if he'd berated Crocodile for hindering his progress. Oda has done the "Luffy is in wrong place at wrong time and villain obstructs his path" angle many times; this is not one where it applies.
Exactly, Luffy didn't need to do any of that stuff, but he still did. That's what freedom is about.
-
@DHL:
Luffys damage is no where near what dofla has taken.
Well Doflamingo is just floating about dodging Luffy's attacks and whatnot its hard tell if he's even taken damage, his agility and recovery speed is impressive.
-
@DHL:

How do you know? Can you see invisible HP bars?
Doula himself doesn't look like somebody who took heavy damage.
-
Since Gear Third shrinks luffy, i believe that gear fourth will also shrink luffy, but it will do it instantly, making him way faster and stronger and harder to hit (like a Tontatta basically). I believe that Kaido is a dwarf as well, so fighting him with a giant body would be hard to do, but if luffy is just as tiny as him it could be possible (if they even manage to reach him).
I don't watch dragon ball z.
But what was that fight where Goku turned into a lolly and beat the crap out of the villain?
That might happen.
-
I should have known Wadatsumi was going to accompany Jinbe. No need to call whale sharks now, just strap the Poneglyph to Wadatsumi. Then there is the time of day, its morning, a day after the Adventure on Dressrosa. Then again what if the cage is broken and Luffy battles Doffy over night? I doubt it but something to think about.
Maybe it was very deliberate that Jinbe's story is going ahead in the time line. The Fishman Island battle was on the same day of the 4 day Tea Party mark.
3 Days til Tea Party - The following day(Camie is working again as before she had the day off) the crew set sail, met Laboon's family and made it to Punk Hazard on the same day. We know its the same day because the girls didn't change clothes. Well to be precise Robin didn't, Nami did but only because she took a mid day bath. Punk Hazard finishes and Doffy is given until the next days newspaper to quit the Warlords, most of the crew sleeps.
2 Days til Tea Party - The crew sees the paper, they mingle in Dressrosa's affairs. Jinbe also sees the very same news paper and after the mini adventure parties into the night.
1 Day til Tea Party - The next day before setting out Wadatsumi asks to join Jinbe in his travels.
At this point I'm doubting Jinbe finding the Swirly Hats and just making it to Big Mom at the all important Tea Party with his triple whammy. No Fishman island sweets, a bomb within the treasure, and then asking to leave her to join the crew that "planted" said bomb. None of these things are his responsibility but we can all guess how the characters will view these coincidences.
-
It's probably Luffy's 「Stand」
"Its truly, truly been a roundabout path."
"Thank you, Law."
"I can't find any other words to express." -
How do you know? Can you see invisible HP bars?
Doula himself doesn't look like somebody who took heavy damage.
Dofla looks like.?
Did you not read Luffys dialogue?
"There's no way you took that monster of an attack and not affected by it".
Whitebeard didn't complain about his pain once he got his insides destroyed. He got back up and took on admirals.
" Luffy pls I'm injured, don't fight me it hurts".. Hardly.
-
How do you know? Can you see invisible HP bars?
Yeah that argument gets thrown around too often.. I don't see Luffy sticthing up his insides.
Doffy has clearly taken the most damage, but that doesn't matter when no one holds the advantage as of now.
-

If Doula took heavy damage, but it doesn't affect his physical capabilities, then it's pretty irrelevant.
He doesn't look any worse than before the attack.
-
Well Doflamingo is just floating about dodging Luffy's attacks and whatnot its hard tell if he's even taken damage, his agility and recovery speed is impressive.
Yes that's true.
I mean in future Yonkou are gonna take much more.
Just look at what Whitebeard went through before he got taken out.
Characters from now on are gonna be insanely durable. I mean look at law. After all that's happened, he fought to the end.

Gamma knife leaves no external wounds, of course he's not going to "look any worse".
-
In a way, armament haki does precisely that while retaining the stretch and (it appears) generating fire, so there would be little point to it.
it sort of does, but the point of this technique is not the fire but the hardness. If i'm right i suspect luffy in his 'VULCAN' gear will be harder than when he uses CoA-hardening on his normal body. . . Remember when he said his hardening wasnt quite strong enough to stop piercing attacks like Hody's bite? Maybe this is his solution to that problem. Imagine an all black luffy that creates an explosion with every movement
EDIT: if Luffy can't defeat DD semi-easily with gear 4 then he has no shot against a yonkou… as it is right now i think he should tell both Kaido & Big Mom to come fight him at the same island . . let them show up and realize each other are there and start fighting over CC & any other past grievances . . . this could be so epic

buu transformed fused vegeta+goku in a candy, and while on candy form they beat the crap out of buu

Damn it I didn't know which buu.
Buu is pink. Dofla too kinda.
Gear 4 Confirmed: Lolly. (Or chibi Luffy.)

I'm pretty sure internal wounds would also affect one's physical capabilities.

Yes.
Doflamingo is an extremely powerful villain. Why do people underestimate and downplay him.
Once again Luffy and Law knows it's affected him.
-
Gear 4=gomu gomu no Bubber band ball
-
@DHL:
Yes.

Luffy spent the entire arc fighting and running while Doula just stood sitting in that chair, but apparently no one takes that in account.
-

There's no such as thing as HP bars in OP obviously.
But one knows with common sense, making as much damage in a fight is what defeats the opponent. @king cannon, I didn't know that in order to sdefeat an enemy had to be one hit. Obviously no attacks up to the final blow do much. Let's Bellamy everyone.
-
Luffy spent the entire arc fighting and running while Doula just stood sitting in that chair, but apparently no one takes that in account.
You mean except for the time he fought Law, Fujitora and then Law again. And the time he tanked the red hawk, injection shot and gamma knife? And let's not forget that it was a 2 v 1 most of the time.
Additionally Luffy rode the bull most of the time and also only fought occasionally.
-
Luffy spent the entire arc fighting and running while Doula just stood sitting in that chair, but apparently no one takes that in account.
Not really, Dofla Amingo too had his fight against Law in Green Bit, and for a bit against Luffy in the palace before Birdcage. But aside from that yea he's been pretty chill until Law and Luffy reached him again
-
finally go to read.
Holy crap Gear 4!? damn I can't wait to see what this is.
-
Doffy kind of reminds me of that quincy guy from Bleach when he fought the masked scientists almost at the beginning of the series.
-

It wasn't, really, as Trébol and Bellamy's presence interfered into the battle several times in the battle.
-
Luffy spent the entire arc fighting and running while Doula just stood sitting in that chair, but apparently no one takes that in account.
Doflas is basically running the island. Birdcage. Parasite. Taken on Shichibukai + gear 4 Luffy soon.
Red Hawk, Injection shot, gamma knife.
Dofla also has an entire country against him and lost his crew. His morale is still up there.
-
@DHL:

Yeah. There is no way Luffy is stronger than Doffy, so the fact that they seem somewhat equal right now just shows how much damage Doffy has tanked.
-

I'm really interested in how you reached this conclusion
-
It wasn't, really, as Trébol and Bellamy's presence interfered into the battle several times in the battle.
2 V 1 doesn't necessarily mean tag team. Nonetheless the "big attacks" were tag teamed.
Doflamingo just finished taking on a Shichibukai who had his entire life devoted to killing him.
Now Luffy is there AFTER that.
-
It wasn't, really, as Trébol and Bellamy's presence interfered into the battle several times in the battle.
Bellamy's and Trebol's interferences hardly count. But even if you do, the point still stands.
-
could be luffy turn his body in some kind of a flying squirel
-
Talk about morale..
Doflamingo has lost EVERYTHING he's worked for and possessed. His country, his slaves, his factory, ceaser, his crew.
Once the birdcage vanishes, all hell is gonna break loose for Dofla and he will have lost everything.
-

Remember that he had Trebol's assistance in taking down Law.

Again, we had Trébol teaming with Doula to take down Law. We also saw Bellamy wounding Luffy. There was also the times where Law focused on Trébol instead of Doula, which prevent the whole thing from being called a 2 vs. 1.
The big attacks being tag-teamed also hardly matter as those attacks weren't combinations. Red Hawk is Luffy's own strength. Same for Gamma Knife and Law. Injection Shot was only Law.

That's mostly because he still thinks he has Mansherry.
