Get my Game and Amiibos today, can't wait to play it. Testfire was so fun. Will play SP until Friday, doubt MP Servers are up.
So my favorite Weapon from Testfire is Splatter Jr. And I use Motion Controls, last Testfire I used the Stick but Motion Controls works far better for me.

Seems a a truck for GAME that was carrying Splatoon was stolen

Anyone playing at midnight? If so let me know and we can enjoy the splatter-ific multiplayer together.
Send me a message.
-
I might jump online tonight, but right now I'm enjoying the single-player campaign.
-
For easier match setups, we should totally all use the IRC channel that was used for Smash. It'd probably be a lot easier than trying to find times to play in this thread.
Instructions on how to join below:
Chat (Select Rizon on the right, put in your nickname, and in the channel column put #APSmash. Then click start and you're in!)
Chat 2 (Use this if the other one isn't working. Find Rizon in the list, and put in your nick, the channel #APSmash, and then connect!) -
Fingers … twitching ... feeling ... warm ... onset of addiction, I'm afraid.
Was rocking the beginning in multi, then came in the japanese players with their advance technology and owned me. Then I go with my charger and ... got owned pretty badly still. xD
But by the end, I was getting better at it, though that was just in Arowanna Mall. Saltspray Rig, which I could rock ok in the testfire, is sooo much tougher now. So easy to die, so hard to kill properly. With the chargers to the end!
-
Gaaah I want to play….must wait a few more hours...D:
-
Alright finally got it time for Splatoon now.
-
The Game is so good, played Yesterday 2 Hours and today I will again play 3 Hours. First MP Shooter that I really like.
-
ooo just hit a new record of 68% of the map
-
Got it~
I turned off motion controls because I find the motion of the Gamepad to be too jittery. Half of the time I had it pointing towards the sky….I will see if analog control is any better.
First off, OMG the music and presentation is just top notch! I love how the first screen of the game has you learn the ropes in a safe tutorial level before heading to the plaza. I've already completed the first single player level......I did a couple of turf war battles, too. Fun as all hell but I lost both rounds XD
I can't wait to really customize my Inkling. I picked a male for default, but I'm gonna stick with a female one. Skin color is close to my own, nice blue eyes....I even used the color lock feature, so now I've got a nice pink color for hair~
-
I've had the game for a few hours so far and have only been able to get in 2 matches. Optimized my internet and worked around firewalls, so I'm just hoping I'm luckier from here on out.
Game is still a ton of fun, but I don't think I'll be sticking to motion controls for much longer.

"Too much ink." -
I'm having too much fun to complain, and yet I can't help but feel the controls would be so much better on a PC, haha. Seriously, the aiming feels terrible to me, though it cold be that literally just bought a Wii U for he first time today and am not adjusted to the gamepad.
And yet I somehow keep ranking top two on my team in every match, even when I feel like I've had no idea what I've been doing. Weird. This is gonna take some time to adjust and git gud.
-
getting some real pathetic teammates today

Let that modesty and confusion carry you to the top.
-
The vindication when you shoot down a roller user is indescribable. Seriously, those keep killing me.
-
In my first match my team won by 0.2%. That must be some sort of record.
The game is quite fun, but the controls are weird. I've never used the game pad before so that might be one of the reasons, but I really wish there were more controller options. Never been a big fan of the game pad.
A bit more content, pants options and some balancing for the sniper weapons would be grand, but other than that I've been having a blast.
But why are people so angry at the lack of voice chat? For a game that appeals to all ages leaving it out feels like the better choice.
-
I'm kinda surprised to see some people get into matches and treat it like a death match and not a, y'know, turf war. Best match I had was 78%, but I have yet to come even close to that ever since :P

It's not just a matter of "all ages", some people (no matter the age) just don't like talking to strangers, especially this many. I don't like the idea of it, and i'm sure it's the case for many others. And having the option of it, would just benefit people who talk with each other against others that don't, so it would be really unfair
-
For a multiplayer game, there's not a whole lot of content online (yet). I would love to customize a match that was longer than 3 minutes, but I can see why they restrict it to that short amount of time. A match can totally change in the last 30 seconds anyway. It's good that what they have so far is a lot of fun. Still, more modes wouldn't hurt to spice up some variety, and I haven't had enough matches to even get into ranked battles yet.
I really like how they incorporate Miiverse posts into the game as grafitti on the walls. Makes for some hilarious wall art.
-
Enjoying my set-up with the kelp splat charger. It's fun and the sprinkler can be given very good use. Only problem is that it's stressful when people get up close and personal, in some stages more than others.
I tried a different weapon to kid around, the aerospray MG, and my god, it was absurd. One match I got 16 kills. It's such a difference when you can be aggressive, it's stupidly easier.
Tomorrow I go back to splat chargers though, I still like how those function the most.
-
pffft
-
That campaign had no business being as good as it was. best final boss I've seen in a while. having a ton of fun so far, and it seems like ranked will be unlocked soon at this rate. seems like everybody I play against is level 10+ now
-
I thought it was going to be a Zelda game that forced me into getting a Wii U, but this is making me consider it strongly…
-
Just a heads up to anyone who gets dizzy or motion sickness easily. Most video games don't bother me but Splatoon, especially the single-player campaign, makes me dizzy and nauseous after a short while of playing. It's really pissing me off.
-
That doesn't sound good for me. Guess I better borrow or demo it before I buy it :/
-
Thankfully I do much better in the multiplayer matches, as in I can do 10 in a row and be mostly okay. It's not until I stop that I realize my head hurts. But for single-player, man. I do 3 or so stages and feel like puking. It was worse with the motion controls, but I disabled those. Even though aiming is a lot more precise with them turned on.

How many avatar characters can you have?
IE, my family is going to buy the game but I want to play one, my brothers want a character each too.

Just use different Miiverse accounts.
-
So I'm assuming that's "One".
-
So I'm assuming that's "One".
No. If you set up different accounts in the system each person has a different save file. I remember doing this to have someone play pikmin 3 without me having to delete my data.
-
So one on per file then
-
I am obsessed! It's 5:30 am and I can't stop playing. Haven't had this much fun in a long time!
Too bad there's no voice chatAnyway, add me, my NNID is julsjacket.
-
My brother showed my dumbass where the next single player level is, it was under my nose. I want to do more of that today.
Also, Noqanky, Wagomu, I was one of the level 5 players in your match last night. Hope I didn't drag you down too much, you 10+ players. I remember Noqanky getting a few revenge kills for me and this one moment on Saltspray Rig, I backed up and hit Wagomu with a well-timed bomb. I felt great. >:D
Definitely want to play again, and with more of you! (Mugen, I was in a few matches with you the other day)
And my new signature has my gear in both male and female form atm, although I only use the female Inkling now.
Anyway, add me, my NNID is julsjacket.
Added.

I knew that was you, actually xD Or at least … I had an inkling :ninja:
In any case, per request of people, I'm recording matches we have with people and putting them up on the youtubes. I have around five at the moment that didn't get corrupted while recording, and only one of those uploaded normally and was processed normally by youtube. Here it is!
In this one we get KaizokuJinbe, Wagomu and I on a team with some rando, while poor galaxy has to be in the other team. But don't worry, I have plenty other videos where you get to see him destroy (me).
!
I'll post the others tomorrow because as it is, I have to wake up in three hours to go to work. Huzzah!
-
I have an inkling they might add a feature to save match replays and/or upload them to YT or something. MK8 had it.
:ninja:
@Noqanky:I knew that was you, actually xD Or at least … I had an inkling :ninja:
Splatoon is full of squid puns. It gives it SO MUCH charm and personality XD
-
It'll probably come out at the same time as the Smash Brothers Tournament mode :ninja:
And lol, I just noticed in that video the dude who realized I was aiming for them and just jumped off into the abyss. Bahahaha!
-
I thought the game would be about inking the ground as much as possible and not camping and killing other people which doesn't even give any points ._.
-

I found out the hard way you can fall to your death lol
-
I already explained this to Nami, but for the sake of people knowing why I play that way with the splat charger.
Splat charger will, in many stages, be completely outclassed by other weapons when it comes to covering ground, mostly because even though the shot goes long, you have to stay still for a long while before being able to shoot and in such a mobile game that leaves you super exposed.
Along with that is the fact that doing so uses up your ink super fast, so if an enemy does approach, you won't have enough fire power to survive the encounter. It's also stupid hard to aim since you have to not aim directly at opponents, or else they see you and move around. And if you miss you give away your position and good luck surviving them getting close or hitting them after that.So in the end, splat charger is more support than anything, I cannot function without a team that will cover ground while I stand the ground and protect it. In that match I hesitated from going to the top to cover ink when it became clear two others from my team were going there, and it'd be stupid of me to follow along with them to paint something they can paint by themselves, leaving our back exposed. Meanwhile, bottlenecking opponents kept them from entering our area and taking our turf, letting my teammates focus on decreasing their territory.
Support support support, I can't stress it enough. Is it cheap? Not really when there's ways around it. Galaxy is the prime example, he knows how to counter it. He was able to kill me by getting up in my face, and later in the game he used a shortcut I wasn't covering to sneak into the huge area and cause damage, fortunately late into the match. By the time I realized and went back to get him, the game ended anyway.
tl;dr, it's called strategy, and when your team wins because you maintained the enemy neutralized, it's hard to argue with the results.
