Hmm. A great treasure hidden within Mariejois that could shake the entire world…..maybe an Ancient weapon? Or something we prolly won't learn about till near the end of the series....when the new Pirate King is crowned and the truth of the void century comes to light....Another great mystery to look forward too...
Chapter 761: The Ope Ope no Mi
-
-
Gee, that's gotta be like the shittiest translation EVER. ôo
Still, the chapter was informative ; at last we're getting some new bones to chew on. Wild guess: we will eventually learn that as a result of some dramatic / machiavelic turn of events, present day Doflamingo took over the body of his younger brother using the powers of the Ope-ope fruit, then proceeded to kill/disable his own body, resulting in Law's thirst for revenge.
And, surprise, looks like the "rarest of powers" from last chapter was neither haki nor the Tenryubito status, but the Ope-Ope!
Last, a tip of the hat to those who foresaw the break. I hate it when people are right like that… T_T
-
I don't know,it wouldn't make sense for law to say that doflamingo killed corazon if instead it was corazon that sacrificed himself to cure him.
also I expect something unexpected from Oda
-
-
see that, how weak luffy is..
even fake mingo did that to luffy..
poor luffy, useless 2 years training, can't protect his nakama again..
roronoa zoro will clean up the mess, doflamingo n his executive..
only roronoa zoro is ready to fight in new world.. -
"itamiwake", means tied. It's written as shared pain, because the idea is both sides took a beating and called it a tie.
Mangapanda just doesn't understand Japanese is all.Maynard is surprised that Sabo and Fujiora "tied", as an Admiral is the most powerful forces in Marines.
He feels something fishy is going on.Thank you very much. That was the only part i really didnt get. Dragon Flame King obviously means tenruybito. The translation wasnt that good but one could understund everthing else logically except the part Aohige clarified for us.
20 post about how horrible the translation is. Enough already. It was a very cool chapter with a lot of info.Questions: Can we assume that the same sea beasts that attacked the port were the ones that destroyed the seacats house?! Where is this port, who controls the seabeasts if anybody controls them and why does Jinbei seem shocked with sweat on his head?
What is the treasure/secret of the world government that the knowledge of its existence would shake the world? What is it? Maybe it will be Doflas last act lifting the curtain and screaming the secret into the world after the strawhat kicked his ass. Putting the world into chaos making the competing yonkous go after it. However it plays out. This is real background stuff and very deep into the storyline of the ancient kingdom. Fucking lovin it. Made me much more psyched regarding the flashback. Maybe Corazons muteness has something to do with it? May be that awful thing he saw was the world governments/tenruybito secret.
Laws ability is confirmed to be maybe the strongest paramecia of all right up there with the darkness fruit. Just amazing how this arc is picking up the pace and tying into all the interesting background CP/tenruybito/revolutionary/emperor stuff. Just great. Even though the translation wasnt great. It was fast and thanks to some great people on this forum i got everthing about the chapter. From Doflas comments i assume that the ope ope no mi would have been great because he could have switched his personality into the body of a person that has/had access to this weapon/secret. What is it? -
whats the point to be young forever in a world of pirates and marines…
"and the ope ope nomi made him immortal, but the next day he was killed by the admiral"(or yonkou,or anyone else)"
nice epitaph -

nice epitaphImmortality and Eternal youth are two different things. With the latter you do not age but you can still die. With the former, you can't die by illnes nor be killed.
-
baby 5 appears to was already as a young kid a good maiden she starts immediately to clean the mess corazon made :ninja:
-

but ope ope nomi grantes eternal youth, not true immortality
-
I am convinced that Corazon had the Ope Ope no mi and maybe he saved Law with it's ultimate power of eternal life but why is Law claiming Doflamingo killed him ?
Only reason could be Doffy forced his brother to eat the fruit and demanded him to sacrifice himself.
And I loved Baby5s revenge with hot tea
Made Corazon give someone else eternal life? and Law got the fruit after Corazon died.
-
but ope ope nomi grantes eternal youth, not true immortality
The Blue One's summary talks about both. Ope Ope can give someone both immortality and eternal youth.
-

poor luffy, useless 2 years training, can't protect his nakama again..
roronoa zoro will clean up the mess, doflamingo n his executive..
only roronoa zoro is ready to fight in new world..I know you're trolling but…
- Luffy got his hands tied
- still, he defended against 2 enemies
- we don't know if he sustained any damage from that last kick
- he will win vs Flamingo when he's freed and he goes serious
- it's typical that Luffy got some down time during fights. Remember Luffy being stuck in the water during Arlong boss fight? I think it will be something like that. Once he's freed he will go wild. But for now he got to be tied so that Doffla can finish his story...
- sure! Zoro would win cause he got swords and he's around Luffy's level, that's obvious! Too bad he can only fight subordinates. Let Zoro go wild! Maybe let's change the captain... o
-
I wish Oda wouldn't give someone comical traits who we know is doomed like that. Can't really enjoy the character that way. A bit of a risk, but at least his rudeness came back to bite him in the ass.
Yeah I had to keep checking back and forth between Aohige's post and the actual manga… there were so many things that contradicted each other, made no sense, or were the exact opposite of what they should've been in that translation
Did they have Corazon translate this one?
Law's becoming the spiderman of this series though... constantly taking a beating
But yeah corazon probably used to have the fruit -
The Blue One's summary talks about both. Ope Ope can give someone both immortality and eternal youth.
Well, there are plenty of stories of immortals that can be killed.
Anyways, the ultimate power of the Ope Ope fruit is the "unaging operation" that grants Eternal life.
So it's not going to make you unkillable, just eternal life. Some may wonder "how's that different from Bonny's powers?"
I assume Bonny's power is temporary, just like Sugar's toy powers. Whereas, the unaging operation is actually a modification of the body, and persists forever.EDIT: anyone else got the Heath Ledger Joker vibe from Corazon's looks? Especially that paint to make your mouth look wide. lol
-
Cool chapter. Thanks to Aohige and Redon for clarifications and everything.
It comes a bit clearer that Dofla isn't as interested in Law so much as the Ope Ope. And while not still a celestial Dragon he knows enough to blackmail the WG.
It looks like Law had a fatal disease? Or some kind of fallout based syndrome? This seems linked to why he is an orphan. So Corazon doesn't speak and is clumsy. Maybe even… blind? The body swap Dofla/ Corazon theory is becoming more plausible.
It's also nice that the initially played for laughs body swap is now looking even more important.
There also seems to be a definite link to why so many of Dofla family have devil fruits rather than coincidence. Delivered by the WG to appease Dofla?
A lot of questions but we seem right on the verge of getting answers as well.Only a week break till next chapter, no sweat.
-
I read this chapter first thing in the morning with no coffee and no previous knowledge from spoilers. Time to go back and read Aohige and Redon's notes…
-
I didn't understand a thing after reading mangapanda, Good thing Sir Aohige save me the trouble for waiting for other sites to release their translation.
-
Gonna have a guess that the incident that messed up Cora was Doffy killing and beheading their father.
-
Corazon is so fucking cool… Awesome... Absolutely awesome design
But I still want to know why he is that much on fire and who the other Corazon has been?
BTW no Vergo or Pica in this flashback so far... And well the Ope Ope no mi is called the ultimate fruit... but to be honest I still do net get the whole story behind it amnd the treasure
-

Yeah, that's what I thought. There was certain someone in spoiler thread that insisted that it had to give immortality, which by definition must have meant unkillable :P
Yeah, Heath Ledger's Joker got mentioned in spoiler thread too :) Must be those scars/make up :P
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Gonna have a guess that the incident that messed up Cora was Doffy killing and beheading their father.
Well, when your brother decapitates your father and take his head as bargain chip it might be quite shocking I think.
-
BTW about Corazon… What do you think his real name will be and what abilities he will have? is there the slightest chacne that he had the Mera Mera no mi?
And who was the 3rd Corazon. Before this Corazon of after DoFla killed him?
-
Made Corazon give someone else eternal life? and Law got the fruit after Corazon died.
Probably its like corazon is forced to give dofla eternal life, by sacrificing himself. Cora refused and cancel law's death instead. It isn't making law eternal but it exhaust his life energy. Burned in rage, dofla killed his bro. Law got the fruit somehow and run with it. No law is not eternal, if he is, he should still be a kid atm.
-

That 3rd is enigma right now. We can't even speculate on it reasonably
-
@Myu:
That 3rd is enigma right now. We can't even speculate on it reasonably
I still think maybe it was Vergo before he went undercover.
-
My bet is that Dofla had Corazon giving eternal life to someone.
-
this chapter can start a lot of new theories:
1. how corazon became mute
2. what is the treasure dofla talking about
3. how corazon really die
4. how law survive his supposed 3 year time limit
5. how law got himself the ope ope fruit
6. etc–
my theory is (im sure many already have the same thought ) :
1. corazon became mute because his sadness from his mother's death and shocked by dofla killing his father and chopped his head off.
2. the most reasonable thing would be the ancient weapon, uranus. the weapon they used to destroy the ancient kingdom in the void century.
3. dofla killed him because no 4-5 below.
4&5. dofla told his nakamas to hunt for the ope ope fruit, corazon found it but decided to give it to law, dofla got mad and killed him. law survived his disease or whatever that is by operating himself using his new power (the ope ope fruit). that's why he's so grateful to corazon and despise dofla.
OR
dofla found the fruit, told corazon to eat it so that he can use that miracle move to dofla and make him immortal before dofla retaking the fruit from dead corazon and eat it himself (immortal, ope ope user dofla would be a killer). but then corazon decided to use the power to save law and dofla kill him halfway through the process (that's why law is still aging but he bypass the 3 year limit). law then ran away.pretty generic theory but oh well
-
Tragic past
FlashbackLow for Nakana yaaaaaaaaay
-
So no chapter next week…
I hope Oda delivers and brings one hell of a flashback that ties everything together.
-
Almost Joker-esque design around the face? Heart clothing? A black or different color feather coat? FUCKING CHECK. THIS DESIGN IS AWESOME.
-
my theory about Corazon and Law… Law was ill and sait to die in 3 years... In that time DoFla got the Ope Ope no Mi and wanted Corazon to eat it and rule the world. Insteach Corazon started to like Law and has given him the Ope Ope no mi that he won't die... After it DoFla killed him or something else happened like a betrayal cuz of the true story of DoFla killing his father and Corazon becoming mute
-
Excuse me ???? Was that the Mera Mera No mi Power ???? He was able to light a cig with his bar finger, and then He started burnin' like ace at the end of the chapter…
Maybe Dofla made Law eat the OP OP no mi in order to switch hearts by force with CORAZON and take his place.
EDIT: (DOFLA had to use Parasite on LAW to switch hearts with CORA, who became useless for doffy)ACE found the MERA MERA no mi just after CORA got defeated.
-

Not at all lol, his jacket got caught on fire after lighting a cigarette.

So.
Looks like what I thought was right. Luffy was taken on by the String Clone.
It could explain his "ineptitude" from last week (I know some guys here hated how he couldn't help out Law or defend himself). It was probably a simultaneous attack; Doflamingo attacks Law while Cloney attacks Luffy.
Only problem with this though is the scans from last weeks chap make it look like the real Doflamingo (bruises/blood on him) and the fact that he used Hardening against Luffy, maybe he can use haki on the clone.
But this week supports the theory as Doflamingo is by Law and Trébol while Cloney is with Luffy and Bellamy
-
Shittiest translation ever
-
BTW about Corazon… What do you think his real name will be and what abilities he will have? is there the slightest chacne that he had the Mera Mera no mi?
I think Doffy's words and the fact that Law was seemingly saved from an untimely death as a child while also being indebted to Cora strongly points to Cora having the Ope Ope no Mi.
There's nothing to suggest he had the MM apart from ending up on fire…but he pretty clearly accidentally lit his cloak on fire.
-
About the national treasure being the third ancient weapon,i don't know.
I mean, wasn't the world goverment in desperate need of acquiring the blueprints of Pluton in order to counter attack against the Pirate age?
What would be the point of all that if it already had another ancient weapon in it's possesion, ready to use?
-
I did.
Thanks Ao
Good to know that the "treasure" was not the Ope no mi but something else entirely.
And that Law isn't a wise genie who can make dreams come true(/grant wishes:ninja:) -as Panda put it
-
EDIT: anyone else got the Heath Ledger Joker vibe from Corazon's looks? Especially that paint to make your mouth look wide. lol
The eye thing and lipstick remind me more of Paul Stanley from Kiss.

Maybe it has something to do with the Ancient kingdom and what prolly made them so powerful, they defeated them, went to Mariejois and took control of this 'treasure' and now they rule the world…..
-
Can't wait for better translation i have no idea what was going on i might as well just looked at some raw scans
Luffy found another way to be held up I see at least its not a garbage shoot this time
I got to see my favorite family member as a child Baby 5 should join Law's crew
-
Wow, that translation was awful, even for mangapanda
-
[QUOTEMaybe it has something to do with the Ancient kingdom and what prolly made them so powerful, they defeated them, went to Mariejois and took control of this 'treasure' and now they rule the world….. ]
I agree,it may be some other ancient artifact that the Goverment now possesses
-
Still waiting on mangastream, the mangapanda translation was so fucking terrible.
-
Ok prediction time or guess work time.
Corazon uses the OP OP fruit to operate on Law and was able to do operation which are impossible for normal doctors and toss saving Law's life. Then later Doflamingo had a fall out with his brother or something, like Dofla wanted Corazon to use the OP OP fruit to give him eternal life, Dofla wanted his brother to sacrifice his life to make him immortal but Corazon refused, so a pissed off Dofla killed his brother Corazon who is a savior to Law.
So Doflamingo waits for the OP OP fruit to respawn again and he found it and brought it back in other to give it to someone else who will use it on him.
So a pissed of Law who with all the training he received from other officers knew he isn't strong enough to avenge Corazon's death but once he heard Dofla brought back his savior former fruit "OP-Op no mi" Law secretly ate the fruit thinking it would make him strong enough to kill Dofla but he failed and that's when Vergo gave Law the beating of his life for eating such an important fruit and attacking Doflamingo.
Toss why Doflamingo to Law in this chapter - "I never wanted you to eat that fruit".
So tell me what you guys think?
-
Yep I like his design more than doffys.^^
-
Corazon seems like an interesting dude.
Also would this mean Elder Stars secret of youth are the dead OP OP fruit users?Ding, ding, ding, ding! I was thinking exactly the same. MJ's treasure is the secret that the Gorousei are immortal thx to 5 ope ope users. A secret that would shake the world. Does Doffy want to be the 6th elder star? He then would have the authority to rule the world.
Corazon is an interesting char. I never thought he would be clumsy and mute. At least he doesn't look exactly like Doffy. They look quite similar, but Cora's face Tattoos rock! It's a Joker mouth, a "starred" eye and on the other eye seems to be a heart. Love it! -
The eye thing and lipstick remind me more of Paul Stanley from Kiss.
Definitely picking up on a Starchild vibe

Maybe Cora wanted to make Doffy immortal, but, clumsy as he is, the immortality went to Sugar instead of Doffy. It'd explain her not-aging. Tontatta didn't know why Sugar was always a child,so they thought it is from the hobi hobi no mi. Cora died and Law swore revenge. Ok, the last line sounds lame, but the Sugar-got immortal-instead-of-Doffy-because- of-clumsy-Cora sounds like typical OP-Humor. It would lighten up this sad flashback.
-
The translations is really absurd. Apart of the mistakes already pointed there are others:
-
According to Panda and to Redon's summary in pirateking, Mingo has the national treasure. Aohige's reliable summary says he only has this knowledged about the national treasure.
-
And according to Panda and Redon's summary Mingo had the fruit the same day he had the knowledge of the treasure. Aohige clears that he would have liked to have the fruit on that day.
-
