I've wondered the same thing, and I think maybe Pica is the first example of a Logia Smile that we've seen. Can't wait for a more detailed explanation of his abilities.

I think Shichibukai might be given more freedom when it comes to acces to Goverment resources. Crocodile had Kairoseki as well.
Plus, Doflamingo is an ex celestial dragon. That must count for something. If he can call CP-0, then I'm pretty certain he can buy some.

Though, one chink in my theory is this: Caribou swallowed up one of Kaidou's factories with his DF power, so it can't have THAT much sea stone, at least on the outer surface.

There's got to be something to the mechanical style that seems to be associated with Kaidou, though. And I would expect that some one interested in that industry would also be very interested in getting his hands on the strongest materials in the world.

Of course it's mythical zoan. He's a dragon that flies by creating clouds and walking on them. And who knows if that's all. Mythical zoan would still be easier to create than logia or paramecia. You could ask Marco to turn into a phoenix and extract his DNA, or do the same with Sengoku.
But how do you extract DNA from a fire sand or magma, or rubber, spring or slow particles?Kinda makes sense zoans were ther first to get cracked since they are the easiest to copy, but logias and paramecia were obviously made with a totally different process.

Yeah, if the experiment doesn't meet up set expections, it will most likely be called a failure. I'm also of the opinion that Momo's fruit isn't neccessarily that bad, only inferior to what he wanted to achieve.
Which is why I typed. I had a feeling someone had said this about Momo's artificial DF because I know that I'm most likely not adding things that new to the discussions and you're right about Zoans being the easier of the three to recreate.

That would've been pretty cool. But I think when Luffy sees Sabo and he replaces Luffy at the tournament, they come to a sort of understanding about what is going to happen. If he was prepared to let one of his crewmates eat it (Franky) then he definitely would let someone he considers a brother (and better still, a brother to Ace!) Eat the fruit.
Anyway, I was actually really relieved to see the moment of eating. Although part of me thinks it would've been cool if:

! - Sabo gets distracted with saving Rebecca from Diamante
- Jesus Burgess manages to eat the fruit (imagine at the end of a chapter)
- Burgess flees, but Sabo chases him down and fights an epic battle with him on the outskirts of Dressrosa.
- Sabo kills Burgess and pulls an apple out of his pocket, which turns into the Mera Mera fruit. A den den mushi falls out with Blackbeard on the other end (Like the Vergo-Law punk hazard thing)
- Sabo gives epic revolutionary-related foreshadowing speech to Blackbeard, and tells him that Luffy will be the Pirate King.
- Sabo makes a promise that as the man who caused Ace's death, he will have revenge, using Ace's fruit etc etc.
I agree that this is most likely how Luffy sees it, and the fact that Sabo took his place proves what you just said. I hope they did have a chat about how Sabo wasn't there to help Ace, though, and acknowledges Luffy's strength and presence at the war, apologising that he himself couldn't make it. Something like that, anyways.
Can't call out plot holes before Oda even adressed an explanation for it.

My bad; I meant something like Luffy was actually at the war and present for Ace's death, and it devastated him. Sabo was alive all along, and didn't show up to save his brother. Apparently, some no-names know he's second in charge. But somehow Luffy or Robin have no idea of him still being alive even.
I just thought that it'd be nice if Sabo acknowledge what Luddy went through and that he actually tried to save him despite the odds not being in his favour at all. I don't deny eating it straight away was a good idea; I just wished for a tiny scene of an exchange between the two before. Sure it might have been off-screen.
But when Sabo first showed up, lots of people voiced this opinion. I'm glad Sabo has the fruit! I just wanted a scene of Luffy telling him "I want Ace's will to live on! Go eat that fruit!" Or something like that. Not that it matters now :)

That's true, but I don't think He would mentioned his past with Luffy just to anyone.No matter the closeness to Luffy. Sabo could just mentioned to Robin that He knows Luffy as well and just leave it at that. I can only speculate what Robin knows about Sabo and what Sabo is willing to tell to others non revolutionary members and for all We know, Rebecca could think that He meant blood biological brother.

It can't be that, since Dofla wanted to capture Momonosuke (and his escort) before he even ate his zoan. And I'm not too sure, but I think Dofla isn't even aware Momonosuke has eaten a devil fruit.

To be more precise, the only thing we know for sure is that Koala knows Robin. She could have told Sabo about her, doesn't mean Sabo deffinitely met her.
If they did meet, he could have asked Robin not to tell Luffy because he wanted to do it himself or something like that.
As for helping Ace, he could have been on another side of the world, on an undercover mission, or innocent people depended on him. I'm sure there's a good reason why he didn't show up at Marineford.

its not stated anywhere thats the reason it happened…CC just called it a failure and you're looking for reasons as to why so. It could be just cuz he wants VP to look bad. Plus the 1st dragon in your pic is artificial anyways so doesn't make sense to get the "DNA" from it.

Well, Momo could have been used for bait to get Kinemon on Dressrosa and into his palace to capture the Wano Samurais. To Dolflamingo knowledge the Wano Samurais could've been interested in Mingo's illegal activities to stop one of them. After all, Momo and Kinemon also know about what happened on Punkhazard .From Mingo's perspective, It would be a good idea to capture them as well since Wano isn't under the WG's control. Mingo probable figures out that the WG wouldn't be that concerned over a few Wano citizens missing .

Robin is aware of everything. Sabo, whatever happen to Kuma etc. Robin is the type that zips it until when it's absolutely necessary. Also, what happened to Robin and Zoro during TS probably have relevance to something in future and will be revealed when time is due.

Well the 3 cards thing implies Momo has more relevance. I got the impression that he was important to Dofla for some kind of leverage.
Since Samurai knew of Kaido's name, there's a good chance he has occupated Wano. They did mention a famine, occupation is one of possible causes of it. Then we have Momo with 3 Samurai protectors sailing away from Wano and Dofla catches a lucky break when they land on Dressrosa.
This seems to imply Dofla was on the lookout for them. Maybe Kaido spread the word of the people he was looking for. As to what reason, people have implied Momo could be the son of Shogun, or even a current Shogun. Don't buy that completely, because Kinemon and Momo's father-son relationshp seems genuinely sincere. -

The issue with Momo is bigger than that. Kin and Momo freaked out when Kaidou's name was mentioned on Sunny. The crew asked them what is it and they said nothing.

Oh …. Yeah. There's gotta be explanation for those two freakin' out over the mentioned. I have a feeling, that someone mentioned this: Kaidou wants his paws on Wano. But, why?. Is there a shady Wano citizen that wants Kaidou to take Wano as part of his control ?. Perhaps when Kanjuro shows up, He'll mentioned something interesting related to Why they were going to Zo in the first place.

Uh Huh, as I've typed before, from what I've noticed while Robin is aware of things, She also respect her captain enough to let another reunion between Sabo and Luffy to happen without mentioning what She knows. I'm a patient person and I agree with you that what happened during the TS will be revealed in due time and it will be awesome to know these things.

Hmm, that does sound like a better way to do it, story-wise. Welp, I guess we will see. It would be interesting to see a pirate takeover of a sea stone excavation site or manufacturing plant, if such a place exists.
Maybe sea stone, like the Adam Tree wood, comes from a very specific rock or something.

Along with his brothers Luffy and Ace, Sabo has a dominating personality; he's big time, and he commands attention, the opposite just doesn't seem to be possible with these three brothers. The second he appeared back in the manga, at the time and in the situation that he did, it was painfully obvious he was going to win the fruit (he was there to win it regardless had Luffy been there or not, I guess), it was just a matter of what he was going to do with it…and he ate it. He had no right to do it initially, no one did. That's why it had be taken by force and WON. That gave him the right to eat it. If Burgess won, he would have full right to become the successor to the Mera Mera. Sabo won fair and square by out foxing his opponents. And what did people expect him to do when he jumped on that gigantic fish, and ripped the chest doors right off,... grab the fruit and raise it towards the sky like that giant held up Ussop? LOL if anyone without a devil fruit had one of the strongest Logia fruits in their hand, which they fought over and won, they wouldn't think twice about chomping down. Like Kyros, he went straight for the jugular. Sabo is no joke, and he'll be a prominent character as the series goes on. I don't know if he'll impact the world like Ace did when he became a top commander for Whitebeard, got captured, indirectly fucking up the world for a bit, and died leaving a legacy, but he'll make some noise and he'll do it with his late brothers fruit. And I love it god dammit!
That Ussop page speaks for itself. Regardless, it's phenomenal! Major props to Ussop, who completed his mission objective (the end gave no fucks about the means lol), and played a HUGE part in making life for Doflamingo and his crew members very difficult.
I'm really looking forward to what will happen next, as the arc goes on, and I'm even hoping for a glimpse of what in the world the other half of the Strawhats are doing, but I think that will mess with the flow of what's going on in Dressrosa.

I think that Birdcage is Doflamingos top technique with his string string fruit that will cut off entire island from contact with world and nobody would be able to escape without KOing Doflamingo.
Name "Birdcage" would make most sense then and it would also mean that Doflamingo wants to try and set things to as they were dealing with everybody on the island after making it impossible for them to escape.
Law might be shocked because he already seen this. Translation is pretty bad so we have to wait for mangastream relase..Also Sabo being nr 2 in Revolutionary army means he is most probably stronger than Iva at the moment. He looks a bit like Ace thanks to hairstyle, he also eaten fruit so Oda keeps Ace alive in some ways I must say..

Chopper bandaged his whole body.
True, he was out of the fight, but…Ah but he was still able to stand and move about. The worse beatings he's received was in Water 7 and Enies Lobby .. and it didn't help those two were within 24 hrs of each other.
Water7 - he got mugged by the Franky Family, he got back up from that, tracked them down and tried (rather pitifully but fearlessly for him considering he didn't let fear hold him back) to get the money back then Franky gave him a 2nd beating ... with his steel fist (which likely do worse for someone else who wasn't resilient)
Eneis Lobby- Day after the mugging, Rob Lucci 'interrogates' Usopp and arrests him. It shows Usopp was beaten pretty badly. Then at EL, there was Jabra, then during the Bust Call Usopp had to jump off that Tower of Judgment (which was on of the tallest building there we saw) and no... no one caught him so he went splat. Unlike at Arabastra but similar to Water 7, he was down for a short time. We saw Zoro & Sanji having o carry him in a make shift streacher (using his cape) in the tunnel .
... BUT once they reached the ruins of the Bridge of Hesitation, he was shown with his resilience kicking in as he was able to stand up again and join the fight as marines swarmed them@Flipper:
Imagine if they didnt and Usopp finds this out.

Too bad Oda doesn't continue with a current version of Decks of the World (especially with the Reverie around the corner) but I gladly take another episode of non-SH Characters with Animals before we get to that. Lets hope he provides some trivial (but juicy!) information along the way, even if the covers are all fan requests.
Chapter-
Sabo annihilating the ring just like that was impressive, but not that special when you compare it to Luffy almost destroying something as big as an island within a few minutes. Clever move nonetheless and probably how most envisioned how the tournament would end, at least when it comes to the conclusion between the top dogs. Sabo got the inevitable win, Burgess was able to keep his face and my boy Diamante could randomly mindfuck Rebecca as Oda changed the scene every 2 pages. I really didn't like the jumpy chapters so far, but I think Dia's performance during the tournament was extra hilarious because of that. And now that he has to confront people that aren't protected by a thick layer of plot I'm confident that he will show us how terrifying the flag fruit can be. I think he has still 4 (?) weapons stored in his belt, but I wouldn't mind him slapping the gladiators with a folded Chinjao.

Ramistar's tie-guy is back, but he is missing the moustache? Either Oda forgot about it or the tie is just a popular accessoire in Dressrosa. Whatever it is, I'm glad Oda educated us to pay attention to the backgrounds, else I wouldn't have noticed that woman being chased by a criminal who in turn is chased by a bear

Sabo's reveal was hilarious! I was totally expecting some sort of super badass design (because that famous cover sort of implied it), but instead we get a ridiculous looking babyface. Love it! Apart from that I really liked how the whole Mera Mera no Mi business got handled, even if I had hopes for Burgess getting away with the fruit. No dragging, no several page (or even chapter) long lamenting over Ace, or talk about what he is going to do with it - just a nod to Gatz and next thing you see is Mera Mera juice splashing allover his face. Had my jaw dropped halfway because of that, if only because it happened so sudden.

Seems Robin got a little one on one with Trebol, sadly offpanel. But I'm not complaining, it's better than nothing. All I wanted was that she is treated like the other Straw Hats, and considering that even Zoro got cheated out of decent fight I'm cool with this. Would be awesome if she could still play a part against the officers, but I will live if she doesn't.

Mhmm, wasn't a fan of the whole Usopp the messiah thing. I will certainly look forward to the consequences (Elbaf, his bounty etc.) but the concept was simply not fresh anymore after Buggy, even if the circumstances were different. However, I still enjoyed the reactions of the gladiators and I hope it made some people realise that chapters dedicated to seemingly irrelevant side characters (like B Block) are important.

I admit Oda fooled me when it comes to this arcs "main character in need". I thought he really tried to shove the overdone damsel in distress trope down my throat in form of Rebecca & Violet, with minimal paneltime even. Only last week did I realise that pretty much every tragic character introduced was actually fuel for Kyros, the Toy Soldier who was always there (in one way or another), but never the real focus of anything. Feeling a little dumb now, but I'm glad that I can finally care and root for someone who isn't a cute dwarf. Needless to say that I'm extremely happy how Oda handled his revenge on Doflamingo. Sure, he will probably be defeated next chapter to make room for Luffy, or even used to fight Luffy, but he did achieve his goal to free Riku and technically managed to kill Doflamingo (Krillin / Nappa style). Casually destroying a few underlings and Buffalo was a nice extra, I guess.

The scene between Luffy and Law was both refreshing and important to me. Luffy is one of the few Straw Hats I think Oda handled really well post timeskip, except for a few panels during Punk Hazard which really pissed me off. Luffy isn't exactly bright, but attacking someone because Law simply told him to, someone who was practically a stranger to him back then, felt really awkward. Law openly admitting that he merely used him for his own goals made it even worse. Sure we had our comic relief moments every now and then showing that the Straw Hats are still in control, but this straight "fuck you, I decide when this is over" was hilarious and badly needed.

Speaking of being badly needed, I like how Oda indirectly adressed that Violet is pretty much nothing more than a convenient plotbitch who knows everything, explains everything and only exists to support the actually relevant characters with whatever the story needs. Doesn't make her a great character, but I got a giggle out of that panel. Who knows, maybe she will get some serious development once the arc is over. Maybe with Koala or so.

Aparrently a "Birdcage" is the box where poker chips are stored, but no idea how that could translate to a string power. A Shadows Asgard style supermove seems likely, but how effective can that be with an Admiral on the island? There is no way it will affect Fujitora and I doubt that he still ignores Dofla's actions after all those pissed off Government officials & Marines are turned back to normal.
All in all a great chapter. Felt like it covered a lot despite being average in size and solved a few of the minor issues I had with this arc so far. Really pleased.
Oh, and there is another thing that might not completely fit in the chapter thead, but meh, I will just post it here while I'm at it…
This Forum comes up with a hundred crazy theories every chapter. Invariably one of them turns out right.
About a 3/4 year ago I started to copy/paste all the different predictions posted in the Mera Mera no Mi thread in a word document. I thought it would be fun to have them all in one place without the nerve-wracking arguments. Sadly the most generic theory (back then) turned out to be true, so it doesn't impressively demonstrate Enlightens point, but whatever!
If you can't find your own prediction it's probably because it was too similiar to another or burried in several page long arguments over how awful Sanji is.

Fujiora is actually just right outside the palace. It wouldn't be a stretch for Zoro to get lost and stumble upon him to save franky or something. Fujiora could just walk into the palace to confront DD and stumble upon Zoro. Zoro would one-shot Lao G. Who really knows what Oda is planning to do with Zoro at this point. All we know is that he's not out of the game. He hasn't had one actual fight thus far, only little skirmishes.
