Damn, All Mighty is scary!!
! So Kouda can control animals, huh?
! Is this spoiled by his name?

! Mouth-Field + Shell/Armor/Helmet-Chief
! So not really :P
Has Neda done anything else besides said spinoff? I'd like to at least have some cautious optimism about this.
A couple of one-shots(one was a GFC participant) but no serializations that I know of. He's been an assistant for this series though, so there's that.

! Is this spoiled by his name?
! As CCC pointed out not in his given name, however in his chosen hero name(Anima) + epithet(Fureai hero) it was somewhat hinted at. The most common assumptions I'd seen were that he'd either have some control over animals or control and bring nature to life(plants/rocks/etc).

Liked the teamwork between Momo and Shouto.
Wonder what Midnight powers are, and damn Bakugou and Deku got wrecked..
Midnight's quirk is likely the ability to use Sleep Powder.
She tried (unsuccessfully) to subdue Deku/Shouto with it during their fight in the tournament and managed to subdue Kacchan when he defeated Shouto in the finals.
Her real name, Nemuri Kayama, also makes reference to it (nemu means sleep).
Hey Todoroki, you gonna hit that?

And Kouda's quirk is basically:

All Might 2 stronk pls nerf.
So any guesses as to how the students we've seen so far will counterattack, or what their shortcomings are? Based on what we've seen so far I have some theories:
Mineta/Sero: I think maybe they need to think about using their quirks defensively. If Mineta can plug his and Sero's noses with Grapes (Like a clown nose!) They might nullify the effects of Midnight's Sleep Powder/Pheromones and be able to fight back.
Kyouka/Kouda: They seem to be in a forest area, Kyouka could check the ground for burrowing animals like Tanukis, Kouda could then use his quirk or have Kyouka relay and command them to dig a pitfall for Present Mic.
That was really nice teamwork from Momo and Todoroki. Loved it. More on Kouda and Jiro? Bring it on. Anyone is fine. The basics are interesting for all the students.
Also, that cliffhanger with All Might - Deku and Bakugou put their differences aside briefly, but looks like it's still not enough.
Loved the chapter. Momo and Todoroki makes for an interesting team. I adore how Horikoshi used an actual metal - I think it highlights just how versatile and tricky Momo's quirk is, but also how much work it must be for her to learn and remember all of that. The little bit where Momo missed the switch was also nice. It gave the characters and the fight something extra.
Some guesses for how the current (shown) fights will unveil…
Mineta/Sero - Seeing how Midnight's quirk seemingly manifests itself from her skin, I think trying to capture her is the absolute worst idea. Maybe that's exactly why they were paired against her - of all the people in the class Mineta and Sero have some of the most well-suited quirks for restraining opponents, so putting them up against someone they can't restraint (at least with their quirks) is a good test. Maybe if they could find a way to knock her out or use the environment, or to make themselves immune to her pheromones, but other than that I'd say their best bet is to run. We know Sero is great at speed, and Midnight doesn't seem to have anything that'll increase her mobility.
Kouda/Kyouka - Not so sure about this one. Maybe if Kouda could contact animals with poor hearing.
Bakugo/Deku - I think All Might's health will act up at some point, but other than that I have no idea. There's so many ways they can tackle this one I think I'm more content just watching it play out.
MHA anime to be made by Toei, dubbed by Sentai Filmworks and distributed by the same hacks from Warner who gave JJBA a DVD only release with quality befitting that of an illegal bootleg.
Now your expectations of the anime have nowhere to go but up!

Is this confirmed anywhere? Because, yikes.

Aizawa still looked strong in "defeat", he isnt still 100% recovered from the pounding Nomu gave him.

Anime to diverge from the source material halfway through. Anime original material to be written by a guild of handpicked Light Novel writers.
Anime, huh? I guess it can't be helped, it always come down to this. As long as it doesn't alter the manga rhythm or the plans for it, I don't care.
Anyways, regarding the chapter, Yaoyorozu/Todoroki duo was badass as fuck. I seriously hope we can get more of each pair.
And I hate myself for it, but I can't help but like Mineta.

Or if SP picks it up, get ready for another 2 years of filler :ninja:
Enjoyable chapter and Eraserhead really is a good teacher at heart. Not a huge fan of Momo's plan or the use of magic metal, since most materials loosen or expand when heated, not contract back to shape.
All Might is fantastic but both boys still look quite defiant. Next chapter or two should be really fun.

The magical thing about Momo's metal is that nitinol is real and it really does have shape memory characteristics. At high temperatures, nitinol reverts back to it's original shape, whether that means having to contact or stretch.

Uh, it's a real metal.
It's used on glasses, for example.
To add on to that, from what I've been reading about nitinol, apparently it's really hard to make because the atoms of the two metals comprising this alloy (nickel and titanium) cannot be randomly distributed and seem to have a fixed arrangement.
Creating this metal means having to memorize the positions of every atom in relation to each other or else it ends up being a regular metal.
That's some amazing book smarts Momo's got stored in that ponytail.

Oh, really? My apologies. Should've known, MHA is pretty darn low fantasy outside of its basic premise.
Is it that easy to emulate cloth though? Or did she have it already bent out of shape prior to the catapult?
At this point Deku & Bakugou pulling off a win without a cop out is impossible. Let them lose with one or two other pairs.
It'll be really nice if we get a good mixed bag of passing and failing teams. I wanna get to know more characters in relation to each other.

It doesn't appear to be easy. Unlike other alloys, nitinol requires its constituent atoms to be arranged in a particular manner in order for its shape memory characteristics to appear. Random distribution would just result in a regular nickel-titanium alloy.
How the shape memory works is that if the alloy is held in shape at 500 degrees F, then at lower temperatures, the alloy can be disfigured in any which way. Once it's exposed to temperatures of 500 degrees or more, it reverts back to its original shape, the shape it had at 500 degrees.
There are several ways Momo and Shouto could have achieved this, given that the ice wall bought them oodles of time. Momo created a mannequin for her cloth disguise, so it could've been used to have the alloy wrapped around it, while Shouto heats it to the required temperature.
Either that, or it's original shape was simply the curled up ball that was put on the catapult. A much simpler explanation.
At this point Deku & Bakugou pulling off a win without a cop out is impossible. Let them lose with one or two other pairs.
But then there will be no summer camp for them, and that's most likely where the next arc is headed.
A pretty quick but nonetheless great payoff for all the buildup Momo has been getting with all her failures. Simple yet efficient way to have her gain some self-confidence necessary for her to enter the same battlefield as other heroes. I wonder if Rising chapters will work as sort of obligatory prequels for some heroes who are yet to have their Origin chapters? Anyway, Horikoshi makes no issue out of writing compelling female characetrs. On the other hand, it makes it kind of hard to declare a best girl though.
Also, yet another case of Todoroki being adorably thick.
Obviously, the similar development is happening with Bakugou, but since his starting line as a human being is far behind everyone and for every step forward he takes two back, until he can make it as a true hero, it is more satisfying to see him being shown his proper place - the floor, that is. And ain't All Might the perfect man for the job.
But then there will be no summer camp for them, and that's most likely where the next arc is headed.
This is the first time they've had a final like this, which means the teachers aren't entirely sure how difficult this test is and how well it measures the students' abilities. It's very possible that the pairs will be evaluated on their performance and not just if they succeeded.
Seeing how things have gone so far, I also wouldn't be surprised if one or two pairs fail and miss going to camp. Maybe they would do some kind of remedial training instead and come back after an arc exhausted and much stronger.
Having a mixed bag of failing also reduces the chances of any potential finger pointing.

Having to run or immobilize All Mighty really isn't something they should expect from high schoolers, specially since All Mighty isn't holding back in the slightest.
The weight limit handicap seems kind of unfair seeing as All Might's quirk is being uber strong. Wouldn't it affect Aizawa a lot more than it would affect All Might?

Considering that All Might himself said that cooperation was just a pre-requisite of the exam (i.e. what they have done so far wasn't enough), it does appear they have to succeed.
Although, it's implied Aizawa held back a bit, so the teachers are not exactly that out for blood.

They're definitely scaled to the person. All Might mentions how heavy his are, and there's no way you put that kind of weight on the principal.
I think a better point would be that weights affect people who rely on mobility more, like Aizawa or All Might, than someone like MC or Midnight who don't need to move around as much. The option to escape helps mitigate that difference though.

You're not just going to tell them they can fail if you really want them to try their hardest. The teachers have deceived the kids before, like back during the athletics test.
Aizawa's softness is just another reason performance should matter more. Teachers might differ in how hard they go on the kids. That's bad testing if left unaccounted for.

Midoriya and Bakugou were starting to perform pretty well, but All Might himself doesn't think that's enough.
So yeah, they have to win this. The students themselves already have plenty of advantages in order to make things fair (2 vs. 1, handicaps for the teachers, run option) and even the teachers are encouraging and expecting them to run, so the exam is far from unwinnable. Letting them pass just by performance would be just passing their hands on the student's heads and not send a good message at all (performing well against a villain means shit if you fail and end up being killed). This is not a Quirk-measuring test after all.
And considering that the kids already have villain experience, that's even less reason to not hold them to high standards.
In All Might's case, it just appears that he has very high standards, especially considering that one of his opponents is supposed to be his successor.
Remember that we are talking about a very hardcore superhero school. Aizawa himself expelled an entire class once.
A fine chapter.
It's good to see Momo show her planing skills and see I&F support his teammate without problem. They can be proud of themselves since they manage to capture a teacher (even if he already had an handicap). A great way to boost Momo's confidence with a legit victory(as I believe his explanation). The others doesn't seem to be doing so good.
All Might seems to stil be crushing the duo and I'm still wondering how he can stay in that form for so long. Anyway, at that point I'don't see how they win. They had a chance with the it and sprint but direct confrontation doesn't seem a solution at all.@Jabberwok:

Aizawa did fire an entire class for example so the principle relies on the heroes good judgement, it seems.
Crazy ammount of drawings. Apparently he posts random stuff all the time.
I kinda wish the author would just do the series is pencil. Yea it'd be a little messy, but it looks so cool.
Can't load that Crunchyroll link at the moment, so I don't know if these are there, but does anyone still have those sketches of a bunch of Jump characters from Horikoshi from a few years ago (I think during Oumagadoki Zoo or between it and Barrage)?
Horikoshi probably has my favorite style in Jump currently. That Ghibli picture is great.
Aizawa himself expelled an entire class once.
which reminds me, is there only one class? Are there no upperclassmen? I think we all went over this before, but I'm still surprised we haven't encountered any other class mates besides class b.

2 classes in the hero department - 3 other departments though; General Ed, Support, and Management.

There are two hero classes, three gen ed classes, three support classes, and logically three management classes (Midnight announces that the obstacle course competition is between all eleven classes). If all the classes are the same size, then the freshman class is ~220 students and the whole school has ~660 since Yuei only has freshman sophomore, and senior classes.
Even if the other classrooms aren't as small as the hero classes, that's still 300-350 kids per year.

Off giving underclassmen useless hints, apparently.
Oops. Looks like that important announcement was revealed a bit too soon. ^^;
That's going to be an OVA, right? It seems really early for a series.
This must've been said already, but this series is Chuunin Exam Naruto on steroids.
It was announced that Boku no Hero Academia will get TV anime.
It seems a little early, but I feel like the current material would be just enough for one 24-26 ep season, as I said before ending with Iida's/Stain's arc. It's a very packed series.
