Quirk racism I think someone mentioned before.

Quirk racism I think someone mentioned before.Memememe! I have this quirk rasicm theory since the first couple chapters due how people reacted to the mud-villian and later on when that electric-guy didn't wanted to hurt/kill Kanami because they shared the same elemental quirk. Given how big quirks can change apperance it makes sense that people define less over looks like skins (aka rascists would say all black people are dumb as bread, etc) and more due the quirks (like saying elemental quirks like fire, ice, electric, water, etc is superior to other quirks). I bet later on, we will see some superheroes who retired from hero business and entered the politics and use their hero career/quirk to promote themselves as next premier minister. And in such we could see parties form around quirks, quirkless, body quirks who feel outcasted from society due their unhuman looks, etc. Would be interesting if Horikoshi tackles on some society problems besides battles here and there, we got such a glimpse perhaps with how Eraserhead criticsed the entrance test as it makes quirks like Shinsou's useless.

Damn! You're right, he would be an awesome inspector, problem would only be that once he gets known to the underworld the villians/criminals would keep their mouth shut all the time the moment he enters the room as they would knew what his quirk would do to them once they reply to him.

only problem is you wouldn't know if he was framing them or getting them to tell the truth. He could just as easily make people confess to things they didn't commit, so it isn't really reliable

Not if you record the interrogation. It would be obvious if he's commanding them to say something other than the truth.
-
I am not sure he can manipulate what the person he commands says. Otherwise, the fastest way he could have won is by making Deku say "I give up".

He couldn't because plot.
-
We don't know if he can or can't. Maybe making them talk again breaks the control.
-
Hostage negotiator was my initial pick for something Shinsou could do with a mind control power that would be good and not villain-y.

"If you killed her, draw a circle on this paper. And write down where you hid the weapon."
Issue resolved.
This is just too easy.
-
He could be a great sidekick but as a lone hero he would have no future, maybe that's what he meant about him being unlucky.
After all if the secret of his quirck was known the villains would simply kill him on sight. Trying to use mind games to trick the villains into talking would only serve him for a while.

If he can make that kind of command which would be closer to hypnosis than just brainwashing, his quirk is indeed overpowered and it's stupid that he complains about it.
But if it's limited to very basic commands, then it will easier to accept why he is jealous. -
He can still get a special discount at the supermarket.
That would be legal, right? -

Well, he could just try disguising himself.
Really, dude just needs a bit of imagination.
-
I can't help but wonder if Deku will eventually gain the ability to see the bits of the past lives of the previous All for One users. It would make for an interesting Arc if those transferred memories involved the truth behind the origin of quirks or events like All-Might's fight with the Super Venom Chainsaw.
Well, he could just try disguising himself.
yeah, I was also thinking that he could make the best use of his quirk if he became a master of diguise.
-
Other alternatives: phones, ventriloquism, speaking while hiding from view…
There are tons of different ways one could approach villains with a Quirk like this.
-

That is what I was thinking. That or Mind controlling masses to calmly clear an area in trouble. If that is the case No.13 should scoop him up.

This manga has been fun to read but what's up with the
manbearpigbeardogmouse principal? And the invisible girl hasn't been 'shown' yet right? It seems like she's stuck invisible. That or she's a habitual exhibitionist.
My favorite parts have all involved the sticky guy Mineta. First, chapter 15's incredibility in general. Mineta getting pummeled by that robot in the first round of the festival was hilarious, and then attaching himself to Momohax afterwards.
-

His dream is to be an hero which his quirk isn't really fit for. It's not that surprising he is envious of others. If you want to win a nobel prize you don't have to be happy to have bless with the body of an athlete rather the brain of a genius. Same with a genius and the olympics, I guess.

He can still get a special discount at the supermarket.
That would be legal, right?Well quirks are heavily regulated so it would be illegal, I guess. He should just pick a cart and shop in the parking lot. There's plenty to hypnotize.

He's not that similar to Kaneki.

Caught up. The small hype burst I got from the goosebump inducing villain invasion has gone down quite a bit. Actually, that very arc itself hyped me and dehyped me all in one. It was decent, but a setup that basically screamed "holy shit is is gonna be awesome as fuck!" my final reaction was more of a "ok, decent, allrighty…".
As a terrific artist as he is, Horikoshi is still lacking in some departments. His fights and action scenes in general leave a bit ti be desired, it's like he's incredible at doing all this static images that look fantastic, but when he has to portray massive chaos or an ongoing, dynamic scuffle, the oomph factor gets down two, three or even four notches. In the writing department, the drama doesn't quite get to me, nor does the comedy, and so far the thrills have been very limited. It's entertaining and the characters are decently likable, but...I don't know. There's something missing, I can't see the heart of this manga, even though I can see Horikoshi's passion all over it.
Like, the last moments from this last fight...I don't know, the flow wasn't all there, the author's choice of character motivations and physical actions didn't feel very organic to me.
Will keep reading, it's decently entertaining and the art is cool, and I hope the future will bring the extra epicness and oomph and some real good drama that so far I'm missing and that's the basis for a great shonen.

With the almost unanimous praise, I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I thought this series had a really strong start, but that invasion arc was anticlimactic, and I've been getting more and more bored with every chapter since.
-
I guess I can see how some might find it a bit boring after the villain attack.
I gotta confess, a superpower school is something I've always wanted to read about. I'm not very well read so there are probably little story telling devices I might not notice, but the premise of this manga itself practically sold me on it so I'm a bit more forgiving (or biased, I guess) towards it.
That said, Horikoshi's art is spectacular. His fight choreography might be a little lacking but the everyday motions and quirky (other type of quirk) responses many of his characters have is just really entertaining to watch. -
God I REALLY want Horikoshi's art book for MHA if it ever gets released.
(Presumably) according to this week's extra chapter included in Jump+, turns out that Midnight is actually wearing ultra thinspandex. What color the spandex actually is, is unknown. Mt. Lady is also in this chapter. Both star as guests on a special talk program, with the topic of discussion being "Is sexiness necessary for conducting heroic activities?" Midnight explains that because of the nature of quirks, outer wear such as coats tend to obstruct crime-fighting, and as a result wearing spandex or tights is common [around heroes]. As such, it's not a matter of whether being sexy is necessary, it's just that the necessity to wearing super thin tights or spandex is tied to one's "sexiness" as a result. To which Mt. Lady makes a scathing remark along the lines of "To put it bluntly, its [your] a hobby/preference." Then a small scuffle of words occurs of the usual "young woman vs. older woman" type. Turns out that Midnight is 31 years old and Mt. Lady is 23! Aaaaaaaand Mineta is watching this "cat fight" happen on TV.
@CCC/Gliblord: In chapter 33, just before Shinsou mentions that "his own quirk is like a dream", what would the full sentence of [動いー] be? [動いて]? As a non-native speaker of Japanese, trying to read cut-off sentences is pretty difficult since I can't imagine what the rest of the words would be.
Saw a couple of entries for MHA doujins popping up on Pixiv for this week's Haru Comic City. It's happening!!!!!

I think this arc's supposed to be somewhat of a cooldown and character introduction arc. I get the feeling once it's over, it's back to the villains again. I love the characters and this arc's been doing a really good job in fleshing them out to me (so far). Chapter 33 was definitely the weakest in a while, though.

Oh, I certainly have.
…It's probably a little ignorant of me to say this but I was talking about Japanese manga.
Generally, American comics...intimidate me, what with their various timelines and all...Anyway, summary of chapter 34:
! Shinsou's past. His classmates have always joked that his quirk was befitting of a villain. Shinsou took it all to heart…
! Kacchan observes that Deku actually drew Shinsou to the edge of the ring, that it was part of his calculations.
He also called Kaminari stupidface.
! Shinsou receives recognition from the pro heroes, as his new classmates cheer him on.
A motivated Shinsou vows that he will make it in the hero class. If not now, then later.
Deku replies with a "Yea-" and gets caught in his brainwashing, but only for a moment.
Shinsou warns Deku that if he remains that naive, he's gonna beat him really easily next time.
Deku gets caught again.
! In Recovery Girl's Treatment Room, Deku talks to All Might about the image he saw.
All Might reassures him that he used to see that image too, and that it's probably a sign that he's getting better at controlling One for All.
The faces of those who've held One for All were imprinted into the quirk, and that's what Deku saw while he was resisting the brainwashing. These spirits are not supposed to interact with each other, so it's more likely that Deku's spirit managed to break free of the brainwashing, for that one moment, in that little finger.
! Todoroki encounters his dad on the way to the battle.
Endeavor reiterates that Shouto should use his fire powers, and that he is his masterpiece, unlike Shouto's "older brother" (so sorry, but no sister theories guys).
! Cellophane vs Todoroki!
Cellophane tries to pull Todoroki out of th-BAKIIIN!!!
Todoroki overdid it.
He was in a bad mood.
The crowd cheers "It's okay" to console Cellophane (lol).
! And so, Todoroki advances to round 2! -
Thank you for the translation!
! Endeavor reiterates that Shouto should use his fire powers, and that he is his masterpiece, unlike Shouto's "older brother" (so sorry, but no sister theories guys).

It'll vary from writer to writer, and over the course of 40 years the students have grown to be the teacher and stories have gone allll over the place…. but in theory at its heart its about teaching kids to use their powers for the greater good, which does entail super heroic missions against "evil" mutants.

More than learning how to be a superhero, I was actually looking forward to everyday school life but with superpowers.
