1: dragon talon (technique)

Chapter 737: "The Executive Tower"

So Burgess is one of "10 Giant Captains" in the BB crew, interesting. I wonder if it is similar to the way the WB crew worked, in the sense that all of them have crews under them. Sorry if it has been discussed, haven't gone through every page!
And I'm loving Pica's fruit. It looks very strong, not to mention the way he looks in that form is amazing!

P.S. Wish someone would just "accidentally" push Rebeca off from a ring.
Luck was not on your side this turn around lady.

What about the three panels down on the right. Look at the spikes of Burgess armor. Its getting blacker and blacker until his elbow weapon explodes. I am pretty sure Burgess can use Haki but did not in that instant and that the weapon exploded from its own power when sabo closed up the air holes of the armor. We know that this can be done. Its the arrmament haki function that is behind Luffys red hawk. I am not saying that i am right a 100% but for me these panels make it seem as if sabo is the only one using haki in that moment. Maybe Burgess hardened his arm when his weapon exploded to avoid injury or burning.
Sabo doesn't seem to be covering Burgess' armor holes and in all panels shown in that page, his armor show signs of haki being used.
Luffy's Snake shot is a grabbing move so maybe, just maybe, this one is too. If so, the grabbing power seems to have been strong enough to shatter the armor. Difficult to see whether or not Sabo's move is a grabbing one because Burgess' armor is way too big for his hand, though it doesn't rule it out, IMO.

Yeah I know they haven't translated it properly, but my point is still valid I guess. They probably have at least a few underlings if it's worded that way. I might be wrong though.

Not really that impressed with Burgess. He seems to do a little more then Lucci's attack
Also I can't help but wonder if Trebel will finally deliver the proper fight that Nico Robin has been missing on for ages. Her abilities will pretty decent against a sticky man since she can simply dissolve her limbs and clones when they get stuck

I don't think Sabo crushed Burgess' armour as such.
More like he used his attack , imbued with haki, to bottleneck the force coming from Burgess' gauntlet, forcing it to implode essentially.
It was more about eliminating that attack that Burgess was using with absolute reckless abandon, putting even the audience in danger.

@Harry:
What if hes a logia thpugh, we have no proof robin can handle a logia due to non-present haki thus far.
Haki isn't the only way to combat a logia.

Agree!
Reminds me of Ace's "i don't run" mentality.

You are right about that. We dont know for sure. What makes it even more difficult is, that Burgess is wearing some kind of black strap on his arms. Under the shoulder weapon we barely see any skin.
-
Has it already been discussed that maybe Trebol is a Snail zoan? It doesn't seem unlikely…

I think to implode it he would have to cover all the holes or at least most of them, which he didn't.
-
Well Burgess' arm is still coated after the armor exploded. And the panels also shows the impact happening between the elbow and the hand.
His arm is not coated. What we see is some kind of strap he is wearing on his upper body. Look at his other elbow and on the big panel we can see the clothing under his armor clearly.

He had that chain before when DF came to the island to take over. So just a design, perhaps a freed slave or whatever the case, he is not restricted by it.
I just feel sorry for Leo. Usopp being a coward letting Leo take the risk, instead of using his strength to help from the get go. Was hoping that he would grow a pair after the time skip, even if just a bit. Nope…
Instead I can already see him, contemplating how he cannot let the Tantata people down and overcoming his fear and standing up against those two. Which was overused in the story already. He cant be overcoming his scaredy cat behavior for the entire series can he?
What's sad is that he DID grow some -"if just a bit"- but has taken a step (or three- or five) back X__X
Why do I say Usopp did make an improvement post-time skip?
Simple in pre-time skip, he would have cowered when an unknown enemy boarded the ship as they traveled undersea. But when Caribou did that, Usopp didn't cower, he stood blank faced like Zoro & Sanji. Usopp also did well against the fishmen in battle (as long as you go with the manga, not sure about anime but they do tend to exaggerate Usopp's moments of trepidation)It was the intro of Big Mom, mainly Luffy angering her while on FI, that had Usopp return to pre-time skip cowardice.
I can understand Usopp showing a few moments when he's faced with something he knows is beyond his skills - yonkou, their top fighters, a giant dragon, ect.But on others that are NOT beyond him (those goons in the underground! (damnit Usopp, those guys were no stronger than the goons in the command room on PH)) he should show same confidence he's shown back in FI.

His Devil fruit is revealed as the beta beta no mi a.k.a. sticky-sticky fruit.
What we dont know for sure it is if a paramecia or a logia though i think it is a paramecia. -

He did seem to soak the gauntlet with CoA though.
That would most likely be more than enough to cause an implosion.

Hopefully the 10th Blackbird crewmember is Meadows

If you count Stronger and Doc Q as two, we already know all ten lol.

Awesome chapter.
Pica's fruit kinda confuses me….it's a rock absorption one, correct? Um....does that fall under the Logia umbrella or the psuedo-Logia but Paramecia label, like Mr. 3 or Magellan. Dealing with him is gonna be a challenge if he has control over the walls so easily like that.
As for the tournament, holy cow. As to be expected, Burgess shows off his physical prowess and acts nuts in the ring....Sabo attempts to get the fruit, of course Diamante and Burgess are both in his way. Him destroying Burgess's armor was freaking awesome. Finally, we're gonna see what he can really do. Rebecca plays defensively while Barto does the same. Well, he also freaks out and fanboys over Lucy. lol.
Meanwhile, Cavendish has been turned into a toy, and we also see the toys of Chinjao/Sai/etc. A little disappointed the toy designs are a little....basic for kooky characters like them, but that's just an aesthetic.
Sugar is shown brainwashing the Cavendish toy while the slimy (slime logia? glue logia?) Trebol sticks near her. Usopp and Robin watch from afar, but the dwarves have a plan....to replace one of Sugar's grapes. Obviously this is too easy, and something will go wrong. Either Sugar turns the dwarves into toys, or Trebol will deal with them. At any rate, the possibility of a Usopp/Robin tagteam battle is giving me goosebumps.

Burgess loses his shoulder weapon which uses airforce…wait a sec...that means Burgess will need a new weapon being the mera mera no mi. Sorry its been confirmed, Jesus for fire fruit.
But seriously, it looks like Sabo and Burgess are in for one hell of a fight. Though I'm more interested in seeing how Luffy is suppose to handle Flamingo

Haven't had a Pandaman sighting in a while.

If we not count Stronger , we have nine lol.

Anyone else try to imitate Sabo's hand when he did Dragon Claw? Can't quite get my fingers to bend that way haha.
me too lol. failed indeed

I see. Guess your theory is plausible.

I know I'm going to be hated for this, but I actually think that MR's translation was better than MS's this week. I mean, of course they stupidly wrote blackbird, and they use "Trevor" instead of "Trébol," but many other parts made much more sense than MS's translation (e.g., Rebecca running behind Bartholomeo and Trébol's chat with Cavendish).
Also, I formulated a weird theory some months ago that maybe at least some of the DF's crew are actually his slaves (with all that devotion, and their calling him Young Master, rather than captain). Trébol's chain is lending my idea some support, don't cha think?

you can battle logias withought haki though. If you know their weakness that is.
-
Diamante just looks more and more inoffensive every chapter, and Barto has more and more chances to beat him. He also have it easy against the fighters fishes, they're jumping all the time, those fishes would never notice Barto's barriers and crashh!!!, got the fish and the Mera Mera. Becca just should get over and let the men do their job.

This is going to be Thunder Soldier having two legs in the flashback all over again, isn't it.

This chapter is fantastic. That panel where Sabo blocks Burgess' elbow is a major highlight of the arc for me, it has me a lot more excited to see more of Sabo, more so than I thought. I'd like to know what kind of fruit Pica's is, but based off of the way Viola described it, at least in the MS translation, it sounds like and looks like it's a Paramecia to me, not Logia. And a battle with Pica looks like it would be more intense than I initially anticipated. All-in-all amazing chapter, one of my favourites of the arc.

A pretty nice theory. It'd explain their total loyalty to Lolflamingo. Though why should Trebol still wear these foot-chains after at least 13 years? Wouldn't a CD-burnmark be a better indication for being an ex-slave? Maybe the symbol of the Donquijote CDs is that crossed out smile and not just Doffy's Jolly Roger?

Sugar's DF makes so no sense that nobody should ever question it.

the revolution will not be mushivised

Damn, this was a nice chapter! We finally got to see Burgess and Sabo in action! Hell yeah!!
-
Man, Pica's fruit is crazy, I wonder if he could extend the controlled area to all of Dressrosa.
pica's df reminded me of some yuyu hakusho arc where a group of villains has their own power/ability territory. right now zoro+luffy+violet are in pica's territory^^
-
Anyone else try to imitate Sabo's hand when he did Dragon Claw? Can't quite get my fingers to bend that way haha.
guys stop , he uses haki to move his middle fingers apart , u can't use haki can u? :ninja:

Ah that was Chapter Black arc.
I was going to say its like Arabastra, where the crew went into different areas and there was members of Baroque Works there [hide] [/hide]
But you're right, Pica's powers affecting area around him is just like the 'Territory' of those new psychics in the Chapter Black arc of YYH. -
Boo and JB use the same weapon/armour ?
!
-
By now the Donquixote pirates are the most unique pirate crew in One Piece universe, because of all these unique df powers.
-
Boo and JB use the same weapon/armour ?
good eye and memory. i knew ive seen burgess's weapon somewhere but couldnt quite put my finger on it. you are right, maybe its a popular weapon in the new world lol.

I think those are from colosseum armory.
-
good eye and memory. i knew ive seen burgess's weapon somewhere but couldnt quite put my finger on it. you are right, maybe its a popular weapon in the new world lol.
or provided by Colosseum
-
Although the smoke coming out from Burgess' one is probably because of how he used it. I think it's clear to assume this, right?
-
So surge elbow=king punch with no warm up? Lol. Cavendish is going to go hakuba once he is returned to normal I bet. Zoro should be enough for pica. Haki swordsman seems like a good counter. Plus he can cut steel so some stone shouldn't be to bad. Also noticed the chains on trebol also notice sugar treats him like dirt. I do think the whole usopp shoots the grape at her theroy will come true.
Next string of chapters are going to be awesome can't wait
-
make sense if its from colosseum. maybe its one of those weapons that doffy are smuggling
-
whats the meaning of CoA?
-
Burgess got his armor shattered easily was disappointed from somebody who is with a Yonkou crew. Sabo took his redeeming chance.
