I don't remember that I thought they said Gin was the strongest of the crew -meaning its not including the captain (Kreig) in the comparison but those who serve under the captain.
Was it online you read that, or in official translated book? We have to be aware some site make bad translations,

I could very well remember it wrong but it's clear to me that Gin's convictions are stronger than Kriegs. That makes him a better candidate to captain than Krieg.

It was never said that Gin was stronger than Krieg, but seeing each of them in action, I would say he was . Krieg honestly sucked, Luffy even punched through his "super" shield.

It's been forever since I read it, but, I remember in the official Shonen Jump translation Sanji asks Gin why he works under Krieg considering his strength, strongly implying that Gin is at least equal to Krieg in strength. I'll look at it when I get off work.

Since Krieg had to hide behind his mobile armory and play every dirty trick in the book to succeed most of the time, while Gin was a purely melee fighter, I think it's safe to say that Gin was stronger.

Krieg was pretty freakishly strong too though, lifting that food submarine with one hand and all. Plus he was tall.

I think it's safe to assume that Gin is stronger than Krieg, Gin himself states that he was using Krieg as a "Shield" to hide from public view, probably because he was stronger. But I couldn't find anything explicitly stated in the manga…

I think Gin was more scared of Krieg's absolute ruthlessness and will to win at any costs rather than outright strength.

Still it's really a moot point, like you alluded to, Krieg's influence over Gin negated any possible strength advantage.

I think that Don Krieg and Gin might be back soon enough. As they were crushed by Mihawk and got kicked by Strawhats it seemed that Krieg didnt gave up in the end. He was strong enough to get plenty of people following him and with his resolve he probably made it to New World already some time ago.

Interesting is fact that Don Krieg used killer gas of some sorts that might have been product of Cesar as CC probably sold his weapons not only to New World people. It would fit nicely with story and also it would make possible for Gin and Don Krieg to get back to story as New World Underworld Brokers. Thats my take on it.

Your theory makes perfect sense and I would love it if Gin and Don Krieg came back. As for the NW Underworld Brokers, they all seem to have an objective of their own. Since Oda does this with correlation to a deck of cards, we will soon see the identities of King, Queen (Big Mam probably), and Jack. Also Kuzan is tied up in this so he might be nicknamed the "Ace".

For me it seemed that as many things were foreshadowed Oda most probably made some new things to seem as foreshadowed during the story. Oda has one new window like that with fact of Don Krieg using Gas weapon and with fact of Cesar being siencist selling weapons like that to shady people and pirates. It would be cool to see such thing, Kuro should also be shown sometime soon- I wanted to see him in tournament but he wasnt there sadly, now he can be kind of Broker as well but perhaps he has some new kind of goal, so nobody would say that Oda went "all brokers" on old villains.

As for Arlong and him being absent in story- no mention in prison etc - I think that when strawhats will visit Mariejoa we might see Arlong again. Kind of strech but it would be kind of worst punishment for him and also it would make his hate for humans somehow more justified/backed up by Celestial Dragons. Still its more of a wild guess than real theory.

Yeah, but the fact that he's not in Impel Down makes it a lot easier to bring him back out of the hands of the law and into the story.

I never lost faith Gin would return some day.

If I remember correctly, Gin and Krieg are the only enemies of Luffy who never appeared again in the story. Even Kuro was shown on his ship, with Luffy's bounty poster on his table.

Seems kinda abnormal.

Then I guess it depends whether Oda gave an OK for that. Filler appearance is still more than Don Krieg had.

Aside from that, in an SBS, Oda mentioned how Kuro was the second most intelligent person in East Blue saga, first one being Beckmann and third being Nami.
And there was another SBS where Oda was asked what was faster, Kuro's Shakushi or Soru. And he explained how they were the same, only Kuro was basically attacking blind. It at least showed something.

All we know of Krieg is that he's still alive. Gin? Nothing.

It's kind of sad how the lack of haki can make an awsome fighter as Kaku lose all his advantage against someone who just ate a fruit that make her able to not to get any damage.

Well you can't really say that. Because it's who do you think is the STRONGEST character Zoro has ever defeated. Mr 1 would probably be under the toughest fight Zoro has ever had or something like that.

I think if you threw all the characters Zoro has defeated into the Colosseum, Daz Bones would win. I don't think anyone Zoro has defeated has has amazing haki to cut a blade man except for Zoro himself. I could maybe see Kaku pulling some plot gimmick to get a haki cut on him since his character was deep. Just my 2 cents. Wait this isn't the Zoro opponents thread lmao.

I'm just so excited every chapter for this arc and it always delivers. Flap Flap man opens alot of possibilities. That opens a list of devil fruits to change the properties of materials.

Daz Bones doesn't have to be cut. With an attack strong enough, he could be knocked out. I could see Kaku knocking him out with a Bigan to the head, or something like that. His skin is steel, yes, but his innards could still be vulnerable to strong impacts.

Daz Bones was a tough opponent for someone like Zoro who uses swords only, but there are always ways to beat someone. Not to mention Kaku has a lot more mobility and different attacks than Daz Bones.
