On the one hand I'm glad Luffy didn't struggle with this guy, on the other hand that was a really fucking sudden end and clumsy transition to canon.
Also I'm 99.9% sure Kid was supposed to comment on the newspaper. I hope Toei didn't just forget about that, it'll be weird to see them place it somewhere else.

The end of the filler was pretty bad, but the end of the episode itself was pretty great. Definitely ready for Dressrosa.
(Toei seriously needs to stop changing canon scenes, or omitting certain canon things in favor of their own stupid filler crap. It's really annoying).

I know a certain weekly OP streaming group that's gonna be pretty pissed to realize they snuck the canon with filler in like that.
Glad to see they took the liberty to color in more parts of Dressrosa that weren't this early on in the manga.
Well mixed reactions….. But now i remembered why people generally dont like filler..... THE FILLER HAS NO SIGNIFICANCE, and its pretty blatant here... while it definitely wasnt bad, it was just plain forgettable... I just wish if we got an anime-only filler it could be written by oda or a competent writer. that way if it were to extend a long period of time it's be a good long period of time
well the animation was pretty standard, the character art was the same but it just seemed.... like a sudden end to a forgettable filler... Honestly i cant put it into words. whatever i hope Toei competently extends the canon this time around.... because there is a LOT of stuff to expand upon this arc, enough to the point where you can legitimately pace these episodes to be a good 19 minutes.
this episode in particular was a 7/10 it was a 6 but the canon bought it back up…..

What you didn't read manga? That's not how they get the newspaper like in manga but not expect much from it. Like when they enter the NW after FI suppose to be awesome with all bad ass talk and sea is different too but they changed to go with the filler.
Don't care what the consensus is, I enjoyed this filler arc. Imo, it transitioned nicely into the canon material while not overly throwing the filler material in our face like w/ the anime's rendition of going up Reverse Mountain. It was a fun filler arc w/ some good comedy, decent art/animation, and the usual "how dare you treat your crew this way" villain. In the end, Breed was pretty forgettable, but he definitely left more of an impression than the Commodore from the Warship Filler (Erik was actually entertaining imo). Felt Breed's last ditch effort of making himself stronger was an interesting callback to Jango hypnotizing one of the Meowban Brothers to grow stronger…kinda dumb, but the last punch was satisfying. Only dragging part was the ringing Den-Den Mushi, but it was for dramatic effect, so I'll let it slide.

Oh i read the manga… if you bothered to look up that would be clear... no im saying what you are complaining about is insignificant.... if a filler arc is placed in-between 2 arcs what do you expect will happen? changes maybe? really you shouldn't be complaining about it.
what really happened was they just got the paper... this arc just has a small non-canon story tossed in between it, nothing to get worked up over. Aren't you romanticizing exposition a bit much, as if you saying the exposition was badass in the manga will take anything away from the exposition from the anime? Based off what happened in the manga, the conversation is the exact same thing....Actually dare i say the canon parts of the episode were handled beautifully.

EDIT: Humans can be eaten too. But, I don't live in a region where human cannibalism is widespread, and I don't go into places where dangerous animals live (unless they're behind cages or tanks). So I have better chances than a strawberry does at not being eaten, and humans in general have a longer lifespan than strawberries.

A solid filler. While having 0% significance and being light on any real drama, those qualities are what make filler filler. I did like the moments with Chopper though, and Breed using his power on himself was inspired, though obviously pointless.
And more Ceaser and Law is always great.
For a three episode filler, we had a solid little story that connected to characters from the past while making use of current characters. Hats off to Toei for making an enjoyable, if short, filler.

I enjoyed the filler. The Kung Fu Dugong made the filler a 9/10 for me.
I also enjoyed the ending, but the ringing was quite excessive.

I'm pretty sure that this episode finished the material in chapter 699, so next week, we will see chapter 700.
I figured out that whole "not hearing the commands" weakness, but not some of the other odd things in this episode. Like how using hte pet-pet fruit on himself was suppose to really turn him into the Incredible Hulk or how the animals were able to completely resist Breed's command despite Luffy being unable to the last episode. And Law conveniently disappeared to escort CC making it pretty obvious the episode would have been finished 10 minutes sooner had he remained to finish off Breed. But I liked it. Seeing Breed toss around Dugong's crew like puppets was oddly satisfying as was seeing them latch onto Breed like small children holding down an unruly adult. Also, the opening Chopper scene was welcome. Too bad the rest of the crew was completely wasted in this filler.
But why is this episode 1/3 canon? After that climactic fight and the wrap up, the scenes on the boat and following cutaways seem to drag the conclusion. After it's all said and done this feels like it was really 2 1/2 episodes of filler rather than 3.
Art kind of seemed dodgy at times but the scenes that needed to be well animated were well animated and there was some good direction here. Overall the filler was one of the better ones and definitely better than the two movie filler mini-arcs we had been subjected to over the past few years.
well that was boring. i cant share your positive feelings about the filler. for me, it wasnt even medicore. the end of this weeks episode was interesting, though. i just noticed that there wasnt a single szene i liked :O. i just try to find something positive…law vs luffy wasnt bad...and some funny moments...that would be it. what a shame. i hope dress rosa anime arc will be a good adoption.

Did Chopper have an honest-to-goodness character moment there? They're so few and far between these days that this filler mini-arc automatically gets a passing grade.
So, in the grand scheme of things this dose of filler was merely okay, but even that puts it above the movie specials, easily. Breed using the sea lapins like clubs was certainly an…interesting sight. Of course the rest of the crew was shafted as I feared but what the heck, these three episodes were rather harmless overall. And the art held up, for a Deguchi episode even!
Since Law was not being controlled while fighting Luffy, he could have just finished Breed in one shot, but he did not do so.. anyway it's just filler.
Glad we're back on the real thing. Hopefully we are going to enjoy this arc, and HOPEFULLY it won't be fu*ked up.

Honestly I don't get Toei. This wasn't just some fodder guy in the background, it was a New World animal with a whole panel dedicated to it. Why did they choose to ignore it? Especially since the whole damn arc after was about animals doing silly shit?!

I actually enjoyed this filler arc just because of the Dugong-Luffy disciple relationship. To me it's really awesome to see how Luffy's influence has started to spread and affect people and animals in the One Piece world. Just like how Shanks influenced him to become a pirate, he is now influencing others. And that's really something I love about One Piece, how one man's dream can cause others to believe in their own dreams too. Dugong for Pirate King!
Oh and DD's voice at the end. Chills…

This episode actually raised a few questions for me that I've always been meaning to ask.
Can a devil fruit hurt its user? Like if Akainu made his magma comets and one landed on him or near him would he get burnt up or be affected by the ash?
Also how do logias really work? If Ace creates a fire fist the fire fist itself is still a part of him right? meaning that he's essentially loosing bits of himself since the fire fist is a part of him. If its like this then and punching Smoker's smoke is the same as punching him does it mean someone with Haki can just punch Aokiji's ice shards with Haki and basically hurt him?

Honestly Oda gave teoi tons of material to work, they can add enough filler to make a 1:1 episode/chapter pace bearable,
! more interction with Dressrosa inhabitants (remember Alabasta, the part with the golden apple and shit), fights in the colosseum, DD-Law-Fuji, Sunny team vs Jola.
I'm realy expecting good things for the Dressrosa arc in the anime.
