Chapter 714: "Lucy and Ucy"
-
-
I find that it's likely that the toys are sort of like the Hitler Youth.
I'm not mocking your theory, but I read that and burst out laughing.
-
Strange animals are one thing, A rooster-dog hybrid or a snake-rabbit hybrid is implausible as living toys.
One is science fiction, the other is fantasy.
-
@Monkey:
One is science fiction, the other is fantasy.
LOL … the first thought to pop up at that is "and some say One Piece is both" but that doesn't really add anything to the discussion, only bring it to an end. We agree to disagree on a silly thing.
My point was that neither has reasonable explanation(least reasonable by OP standards - remember how shocked even Nami was at the place?) and sometimes Oda doesn't give even a reason (reasonable or not) for events or beings. -
Those toys are nothing but thematic robots.
And robots tend to appear in fiction all the time, whether if the setting makes sense or not.
-
Okay chapter, I was hoping Nami, Brook and Chopper would put up more of a fight. But Jola's ability is really interesting, I like the way Brook looks.
Hopefully we can get this tournament finished up soon.

I figured someone would. It was the best way to describe what they were imo.

colorisation is awesome but Black/White better

I find that it's likely that the toys are sort of like the Hitler Youth. Someone under Doflamingo brought the toys to life via their devil fruit powers, but the toys are tasked with keeping an eye on the civilians and reporting any wrongdoings. Also would make sense with how fast Doflamingo found out the Straw Heart alliance arrived.
Ya it makes perfect sense his trusted toy underlings are planning a coup d'état against him. the toys are well integrated into society, it's more likely they've been around for longer than DD and are under some form of oppression.

http://s1307.hizliresim.com/1c/f/q6srw.pngYeah, so it's basically just like the digitally colored volumes that they release. I'm not really a fan of them, but it's cool I guess.

People see what they want to see.
So the SAD tank that had the hazardous sign, wich was in PH, could only affect those in Dressrosa.
And the woman (by your theory) had her husband and baby turned into a toy and could not be happier.
I'm not even going to comment on the exploding factory because everyone is happy after a secret factory explosion that turned half the population into toys. And the side-effect of a drug that's used to create artifitial DFs is toy-izing people. It all makes sense now ¬¬
Just asking here, do you think One Piece = Fairy Tail? (not about Oda-Mashima beef, it's about a magical substance that turns people into stuffed toys)Who said anything about being scared? Just think for a bit. What would you do if suddenly your parents, because of a magical exploding factory, became toys? Would you say "yay more toys" and live your regular life or would you try to do something to get them back to normal? Would you try to go after who's responsible for that?
Making assumptions to justify your theory just shows how weak it is. Try to stick to facts, it ups your credibility. ;)
There are some ways in which becoming a toy doesn't result into a life of misery. If becoming a toy is tragic but you still have the soul and personality of the original then life would probably carry on fairly comfortably for most. Or becoming a toy could be considered some Devine gift, like the people of Shandora being sacrificed to Nola's ancestors. I doubt either is the case but it doesn't have to be all bad and of course it is assuming toys come from normal people to begin with.
It seems to me the people of Dressrosa just accept the toys like they accept faries, its just a part of life and they have no idea how they truly originate or what they really are.
-
I figured someone would. It was the best way to describe what they were imo.
Truthfully, it wasn't a terrible way of saying it.
-

The only one we've seen, that I can remember, feel free to point out otherwise, that is against him is Toy Soldier of Lightning.
-
Maybe there's a carpenter like character in Doflamingo's crew that make living toys with the help of a blue fairy thing.
-
That's what I'm wondering! Coby isn't the only one…or the first one to have a vast change in appearance. Anyone remember Alvida's 'before & after' looks? She's proof that eating a DF can change a person's appearance. Oda also drew a scetch of Lola of what she would look like if she ate Alvida's df, so the Sube Sube no Mi would change other's appearances. Other DFs could change appearances in other ways [hide][qimg]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130509201653/onepiece/images/a/a1/Fat_Alvida.png[/qimg][qimg]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130112201954/onepiece/images/thumb/c/cd/Alvida_Anime_Infobox.png/250px-Alvida_Anime_Infobox.png[/qimg] [qimg]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130701124231/onepiece/images/8/80/SBS69_Sube_Sube_Lola.png[/qimg] [/hide]
I just gotta say, the size comparison for that hat on Lola's head is gigantic! It's crazy how big that noggin is.
-
these little people(dwarves/gnomes) that grow trees or can grow anything…those trees might have some magic to it(like the magic that one guy used to tie Robin up?/unless its just a stich stich DF or something) Dressrosa is the only place where dwarves exist right? thats why there are no live toys in any other kingdom or in the world...someone might be cutting down some trees and creating toys - who knows. I think we'll learn the truth when we get to the Toy House aka smile factory
-
Shouldn't those trees have a silver metallic color..?

Oda has stated once that magic is not something he wants to implement in his work.
I just can't remember where.

I wish Oda would change his mind….

I don't. I prefer for settings to establish a rule set early on and stick with it. A few exceptions are ok if they're explained adequately and don't deviate too far from what's already there, but I'd rather not see a new type of power appear out of nowhere. DFs are fine as the mystical element to the series, we don't need a million other types of powers. It's one thing that annoyed me at times about Dragonball to be honest.

Then what the hell are devil's fruits, klabautermen, and all the other weird shit?

I just can't remember where.
I'm sure that the question was related to one of the early versions of Romance Dawn, the one where Luffy fought a magician that could do generic tricks like flying and shooting fire balls.
-

We don't know.
Yeah, we don't know.

this was an ok chapter . I was just waiting for Luffy to wreck everybody

Oda stated that in "Comickers" (1998)

also what the heck kind of devil fruit that lady got that made brook and the others look like Picasso paintings characters.

@RPG:

I'm actually pretty curious about this too . . I don't think her fruit is the "Turn people into art" fruit as much as that's one of its main abilities. It just feels like the sort of DF that has other uses to it.

question:is the fake beard disappeared or not?the last panel of Luffy in this chapter shows him with no beard
-
I'm divided on the toys, if they were living toys their entire lives then: a) why is there a toy factory b) why would they not been listed with dwarves on the auction pamphlet.
I think they're a cover for creating SMILES which from what we know so far are produced in this toy factory. I think instead of creating all these zoans people would see roaming Dressrosa and the govt realizing Kaidou has a large army of zoan DF users (which the WG has to know) they are toy zoans. Therefore Dofla can say he created toys who create more toys and bring happiness and bullshit to the people of Dressrosa while the real factory produces SMILES for Kaidou. -

I don't think its disappeared, its hard to see but it looks as its there in the very last panel.
My guess is that Oda purposely left off the beards of the characters in certain panels to show more, whether more actions (Franky eat/drink) or to show more facial expression (both Luffy & Sanji had moments where the full exression would have been lost to readers if we still saw the beard instead of their face. -
so….is the chapter coming out today?

Not so sure if it's really happening, but there were definitively some talk about an early chapter 715 because the next shonen jump will be released some days earlier.

This has been explained a few times but i guess there is no harm in doing it again:
A WSJ issue normally gets released on Mondays in Japanese stores but the distribution of the magazines start a few days prior to the release which should be logical of course. The people who provide us with spoilers and raw chapters probably work either in the distribution or have a store themselves, so they basically have access to the magazines before they are released which results in us getting spoilers and the chapter before the official release in Japan.
Sometimes, there is a holiday on the release day, so instead of skipping the issue and taking a break, WSJ releases the chapter on Saturday. In this case, 15th July is Marine Day in Japan, so the issue is released on July 13. That also entails that the nearly 3 million copies were distributed earlier, the spoiler and raw providers get the magazine earlier and thus we also get an early chapter. We already got the early chapter, next chapter will come out, as always, on Wednesday
