As if Smash Bros style games are uncommon. Hell Namco Bandai release Jump Ultimate Superstars and One Piece Gigant Battle 1 + 2 which feel like they've been heavily influenced by Smash Bros

Well, it seems to be nothing like those. It's the return of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. CyberConnect 2, the same studio behind the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm franchise is behind it as well.

This looks like a typical CC2 production: Looks great, the production values will probably be pretty high, but we'll see how this fares gameplay wise.

Can't judge yet, of course, but I bet as a fighting game, Capcom's JJBA 2d fighting game will be the superior one.

Still, I'll admit the idea of mixing all of Jojo's sagas in one fighting game crossed my mind multiple times, so it's curious to see it finally happen.

Someone needs to add JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to the title of the thread because had I not seen this elsewhere I would not have clicked this thread. Can't wait. The game for the Dreamcast was pretty good and I've been waiting for another JoJo game.

Japan and the US are the same region on bluray so you'll be able to play it if you live in the US. I'll just be in Japanese. Europe seems to get all this stuff so if it's not localized in the US it will probably be in Europe.

To be fair aren't most stands pretty unorthodox to fight with save for the Star Platinum ORA ORA ORA types? (and even some of those have weird abilities, like Josuke's Crazy Diamond as you mentioned).

Whitesnake can't really do anything though. I think C-Moon will be the better choice (although the gravity thing will come in the way) but I guess he'll have attacks for each stand.

I can't wait for this game, this is what I wanted. Now if the gameplay is as good as it looks, and if there are 83593859835 colors for each character (or a color edit mode) I'll love this game even more. Also I hope for a story mode that follows the manga.
I'll probably get it when it's released in Japan (it'll work on a EUR ps3, right?) and if it gets released outside of Japan I'll get that too.

Jojo is such a niche in North America that I highly doubt localization is in order (although I guess there is the potential for this game to go digital as Kaizoku Musou is doing to compensate).

That said, I'll probably import this game at some point since I generally like all the aesthetics of CC2's stuff.

On the plus side, I hear they are planning to re-release the old Capcom fighter on XBLA and PSN sometime down the line.

Stolen translation of the Famitsu article.

• Each character has a Style button that defines how he fights. This is different from the BB Drive in that many characters share similar Styles. For example, Jotaro's Style summons Star Platinum, while Joseph's makes him use the Ripple. Basically, it's the same old Stand button from the old JoJo, just with a more universal name.
• The gauges are health (self-explanatory), guard (depletes while guarding attacks, causing guard crush when it's empty), and Heart Heat (the super gauge). Some characters also have unique gauges over the Heart Heat one: Joseph's makes his consecutive Ripple attacks stronger, like Akihiko.
• One stock of Heart Heat gauge can be used to perform a "Heart Heat Attack", while two can be used to perform a "Great Heat Attack". For example, Jotaro's HHA is "Oraoraoraora!", his signature flurry of punches, while his GHA is "You pissed me off", which turn the screen into a manga panel and freezes time before delivering even more punches.
• You can perform a Stylish Move: the character strikes one of his poses and dodges the attack completely. It costs some Guard Gauge, but gives you a great chance to counter-attack.
• Taunting the opponent depletes the enemy's Heart Heat gauge, and has some very flashy animations, especially after you win the round.
• The game has chain combos with Weak, Medium and Strong attacks, but there is also the "Easy Beat" option. Just press the Weak attack button with proper timing, and you will perform a combo with a HHA at the end.
• The game's RC mechanic is "Puttsun Cancel". By spending some of the Heart Heat gauge after performing a special move, you can freeze your opponent for a while, either giving you time to continue the combo or make your moves less punishable.
• Tandem Attacks are still in for the characters who have the Stand style. It also still consumes some of the Heart Heat gauge.
• There are stage gimmicks, though it doesn't specify whether you can turn them off or not.

All the newcomers have the Stand style, even Mista.

• Giorno's revaled moves are "Life… Arise..." (he grows a tree and climbs it, probably has unique follow-ups), "The sharp pains... They're hitting me slowly!.." (HHA, a slow-mo punch of Gold Experience) and "Neverending End" (GHA, Gold Experience is transformed into Gold Experience Requiem, gaining new abilities).
• Mista got a gauge that shows the amount of bullets he has. His moves are "I'll shoot the hell out of you!" (obviously shoots bullets, zoning the enemy) and "Now I'm serious" (GHA, Mista shoots a bullet that gets redirected by Sex Pistols multiple times).
• Kakyoin's moves are "How about this!" (Hierophant Green unravels into strings), "I shall punish you" (HHA, a combo with Hierophant Green) and "20m Radius Emerald Splash" (GHA, shoots many emeralds all over the screen).
• Polnareff's moves are "Prepare to be skewered!" (many fast stabs with Silver Chariot), "Can't catch me when I take off the armor!" (HHA, removes Silver Chariot's armor, making it faster, but lowering defense) and "Gives you chills, doesn't it?" (GHA, a very fast attack with Silver Chariot's afterimages).

I just noticed something about this game. Take a look at this.

See that? The logo has one artifact from each part on it. Clockwise from top right: The Stone Mask from Phantom Blood, The Red Stone from Battle Tendency, The Card from Jotaro's hat from Stardust Crusaders, The Peace symbol from Josuke's outfit from Diamond is Unbreakable, Golden Experience's Ladybug decals from Vento Aureo, a Butterfly representing Stone Ocean, and a Horseshoe representing Steel Ball Run. But look, there's another one, an anchor. Now, what could THAT represent? hm? Any Ideas?

Another new article detailing the full movesets of the first 4 characters revealed, including screenshots and movelist charts, also showing us that this will be a more traditional fighting game unlike what we all assumed because of it being developed by CC2. Also says there will be a demo of the game at TGS with those 4 characters.

I was already happy, thinking this was gonna be a stylish anime fighter, somewhat similar to the naruto games. you know, lots of throwing characters all around, highly cinematic moves, low in actual gameplay depth but high in faithfulness to the source and awesome-looking fights.

but this is gonna be a proper fighter. with the aforementioned stylishness and faithfulness to the source. I'm beyond pumped right now.
