Isn't EVERY E3 conference "the worst conference EVER"
Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012

-
The people are too hyped every year so yeah
-
@Tatermoog 360 was said to be tri core, if those Wii-U specs are the same as the rumors then Wii-U is a quad core.
Just going off what that article said. I'd rather be wrong. Think really high-end Nintendo games would be pretty neat.
-
@Cyan:
Isn't EVERY E3 conference "the worst conference EVER"
No but every year is Nintendo is doomed year or something
It wasn't worst conference it was just meh.
AC3 Wii U features for anyone who's interested http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/assassins-creed-3-wii-u-gameplay-features-revealed
-
Um, hasn't the 360 always been multicore?
The part that's promising about the WiiU is significantly increased RAM.
[edit] And yep on the 360: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/xbox-three-sixty2.htm
Yeah, but there was something funky about it my brother in law (a game developer) was talking to me about. But that was years ago so I can't remember anymore.
Anyway, let's assume for a second that the link to the Wii-U specs you posted is legit. Everything I see easily tops both 360 and PS3. Ok, it only has 1.5 GB of RAM (360 and PS3 have 512 MB). Ok, it only has 3 MB of L2 cache (360 has 512 KB, PS3 has 1 MB). Ok, it only has 32 MB of video eDRAM (360 has 10 MB, and PS3 allocates half of its onboard memory instead).
So tell me, where would anyone get the idea to rank it equal to the 360, when it clearly outclasses both consoles?

No this conference was legitimately terrible, this was Nintendo's worse conference since 08 easily and MS + Sony were also lackluster.
Nintendo's problem was likely to do with all their major titles weren't far enough along to show. I know for a fact that Sakurai didn't start development of the next Smash bros until after Kid Icarus hit retail, so at best we could of seen a pre-rendered hype trailer.

Spec sheet in English:
http://media.nintendo.com/pressroom/E32012/WiiU/FACT_WiiU_HW_E312.pdf
I have no idea how you can decide that's the same as the 360. For one, it uses a multicore processor.
I prediciting a 300.00+ price now.
since E3 didnt say how much when will they say a price seeing november is in 5 months from now?
Awaiting Preored status though -
An example of the negative feedback Ninty's been getting on their FB page
Facebook comments, really?
What, were the Youtube commenters too high-brow?

Worse than 08? No.

Could've been worse
Could've been _Reddit_ comments

You've convinced me! I just trusted an article on a website! I admit it!
sob
…but seriously, thanks for explaining it in detail.

I've posted both of these on threads devoted to this topic: http://www.ign.com/wikis/wii-u/Wii_U_Tech_Specs
in this you can see where the misconception of Wii-U's power came from
Here's how the rumored specs should be interpretted:
It's significantly more powerful than current gen, the chipset alone is from 2009 whereas the modified 7800 GTX card inside the 360 is a 2005 graphics card.

Sorry but if you want to make the point that this E3 was terrible you're going to have to do much better than a Nintendo Facebook page comments lol
-
Bah, the listings for upcoming DS (read: Pokemon) and 3DS games aren't looking too robust, but the list does say that it's only partial, so hopefully there's some good stuff tomorrow.
-

I'm not doing it to make that point. Nintendo is supposedly monitoring reactions and feedback right now so they'll get the idea that their fans weren't too pleased with their conference overall. I'm not trying to show how terrible the conference was by posting that pic, even though we all know it did suck (not TERRIBLE tho)
-

I said worse since. Reggie could've just shown the Wii-U for ten seconds, looked at the audience, asked them if their bodies were ready then walked off stage without saying another word and it would still be better than that monstrous Wii Music conference.
-
The new Sonic racing game looks nice. I hope Tail's Doll is in it. lol
-
Those kind of fans wouldn't have been pleased by this conference unless it was anything short of showing Smash Bros.
It's all relative to me. NSWB2, Pikmin 3, and Wario Ware is good news to me. It didn't rock my world but it showed me a little more of things I mostly knew were coming already. I'm pleased all things considered.
-
Yeah, I'm was looking for more information on the new Tomb Raider and the South Park RPG. Which I got which all I cared about. I'm really excited for the new All New Super Mario Bros Wii U and Luigi's Mansion 2. Beyond looks really interesting, and that I'm a Ellen Page fan. That makes that game even better.

My issue mainly is that everyone knows that E3 is an event to woo the hardcore, as it's mostly the hardcore gamer who bothers to follow the coverage so it's expected that hardcore flagship games would be the focus. Unfortunately all the hardcore gamer got were ports of already released 3rd party titles, Pikmin which while a solid series doesn't have the following that the other Miyamoto franchises have, and NSWB2 is more of a party game than a focused Mario platformer like Super Mario 64 or Galaxy. None of these aforementioned games make me say, "Day one purchase" which is what Nintendo should have been attempting. Instead they focused on mostly casual offerings and Nintendo land, which while neat again doesn't interest me.
-
Them focusing on only showing off launch titles is why the conference felt so lame, IMO. And Wii Fit U. No one who watches E3 cares about those kinds of casual games.
Wonder when we'll see a 2004-level Nintendo conference again.
-
Did Nintedo try to kill time by having a musician perform? Did they not show the trailers to several games? Did they show us games that only kids can play?
They showed us games that will be available on the Wii U at launch. They promised more games to come. They only spent 30 seconds at most talking about bullshit Hulu and YouTube. And they introduced a brand new system.
I don't see where this 'worst show ever' thing is coming from. I can tell you right now that we're not going to get anything Smash Brothers related for a long, long, long, LONG time.

Why is mentioning launch titles lame? They're telling us what's going to be at launch. People were fucking livid about the 3DS launch titles because everyone assumed it would have Kid Icarus, Mario 3DS, and several others at first. 3DS launch titles were lack luster. I'd rather them tell me what I'll be able to get when I buy the Wii U then get me hyped for a game that's going to come out in four years.
-
No one has said worst show ever. I wasn't even expecting Smash Brothers, I'm mainly disappointed we didn't see anything by Retro, whom I thought confirmed to be showing something at E3. The thing is, they introduced this system last year. A lot of people expected them to give more information about the system but the conference mostly just raised new questions. I wasn't personally expecting this but some thought they would show off a game with powerful graphics to show off what the console is capable of.
You guys think I'm overreacting then lol, you should see the meltdowns on Gaf.
-
Well rewatching the gameplay video of Pikmin 3 I guess one can tell what the WiiU is capable of.
The water looks great in this video -
Skyrim DLC now at http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/live.html
-
Yeah some of the meltdowns are ridiculous. All I can say. Wii Music. Remember the one with Wii Music.
But there were a few things not present at E3. Valve was supposed to count to 3. Retro Studios. Can't recall anything for Bioshock Infinite.
-
So ZombieU and Scribblenauts looks fantastic. Really the only thing at Nintendo's conference that really caught my eye.
@above: All the HL3 stuff was proved fake.
-

The water looks great in this videoIt looks pretty great but I think the console's capable of much more, they just haven't shown it. Textures are pretty ehh, though. Also, I think I see co-op in that trailer, which is good.
I'm only excited for Pikmin 3 as far as launch titles go. New Super Mario Bros is like COD to me by now. It does nothing for me. I bought the first one for the DS, beat it, had fun with it, but that's it, just like I bought COD 4, had fun with it for a year, then bought MW2, had fun until I realized it was the same, even worse than COD 4.
-
Doesn't Valve
crush our dreamscome on in a little bit? -

E3's not over. I think for the remainder of E3 gameplay will be shown for multiple games. I think I saw somewhere that Bioshock would be shown.
So ZombieU and Scribblenauts looks fantastic. Really the only thing at Nintendo's conference that really caught my eye.

Pikmin hater :(

Never got into Pikmin.

@Nex:
Skyrim DLC now at http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/live.html
Or more like 10 minutes form now -_-
-
^Lol.
I'm not seeing much third party support either save for Ubisoft and Batman.
-
Now it's time for Dawnguard!
-
Lol man some people took this too seriously
@some:
So, about this conf…
I'll sound like a broken record or even worse a "i told you so" douchebag but…
Nintendo is fucking lost. Everything proves it. The simple face of this Nintendo guy showing with proud and excitement the most boring demo ever, to fucking close the show… The simple fact that these 50 years old guys could think it was a good idea to showcase the console like that, proves that they don't have a fucking clue anymore. They are badly disconnected from the gaming world, they just don't know...
Actually i think, as they are lost, they are blindly following the voices they hear in this dark room, but those voices scream everything, from make things for soccer moms to i love pikmin. So do shits and things randomly, cause this is fun without any sort of direction. So you have things for fans, which won't sell the console at all, and things that clearly screams "don't buy our shitty casual console you gamers, we don't want your money"
I know Nintendo is not doomed and has a lot of money, but maybe it's as unsinkable as the titanic after all… Cause after all those years, what Nintendo fans don't realize, in their love for the company, is that Nintendo isn't even making the best games anymore. This conf is the ultimate climax of the suicide mentality they've had for some years now. How can you even tell people you're going to reach, or even reconquer gamer's heart, when you worldwide launch your console with this kind of bullshit. More casual games than Sony and Microsoft united, boring and empty talks about how you're inventing social gaming... The simple fact that the only Shige appearance was at the beginning, for the Pikmin 3 showcase, and was meant to be the "gamer"s" moment, shows how much Nintendo is clueless...
It makes me think of an old grandma who doesn't really know how to talk with youngsters and some kid tells her "tell them yoooo" and she just uses it and everyone is laughing. Actually that's concretely how it feels to see Reggie using internet memes to get some laughs.
That's it, i think the console will have some cool things, and real games are probably coming, but the fact that Nintendo can think it's possible to hype a console at E3 this way, without ANY of the Nintendo ips that would just make everyone explode in semen, just by showcasing bullshit concepts and telling everyone they're back and about games.. This is just sickening.
I know they are stuck in a corner, cause they don't have free innovations to use anymore, and they don't want to directly compete with the money burners around, but here they're just sitting on their ass and waiting for the bullets…
That was my melting down i guess
-
-
Lol man some people took this too seriously
copy + paste for next year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that
-
LOL at people calling this the worst E3 ever for Nintendo.
People seem to have forgotten E3 2008,which is honestly quite unbelievable considering that it ended with this…!
-
Wii Music: Never Forget.
-
The Wii Music fiasco was an inspiration to Microsoft it seems
-
-
Ubi won E3, not Sony, but still.
-
No one won it this year.
Just going to look at a few key points and games and say "That was nice/cool".
-
If anything, Miyamoto's smile won.
I mean, seriously:
[hide] [/hide] -
Seriously, Miyamoto was the best part of Nintendo's presentation.
I find it impossible to not be happy when he's happy. He's just so giddy!
-
Oh man, this was funny
If you think that's funny, then this one will make your sides hurt.
Ubi won E3, not Sony, but still.
Watch Dogs. That made them #1 in my book.
-
Now they're laughing at us
E
Et tu, Miyamoto?
-
Never got into Pikmin.
I always love gifs like these about E3.
-
You know what, I'm actually going to give Nintendo show of the year based solely on the briliance of spreading their show out over a three day period.
Watching three seperate hour long videos is alot more enjoyable than sitting around watching a single 2-3 hour video, especually when you don't give a damn about 3/4 of the stuff these suits are talking about. -
I just think Nintendo's directionless right now. We know several of their studios and second-party studios are working on games for Wii U while they have so many casual games in store as well, and they wanna cater to the hardcore while at the same time trying to do something new, what with so many controller options for the Wii U. It won't be an easy task but hopefully they end up finding a good direction and sticking with it.
