What I mean is that it didn't amounted to anything as Pekoms never tried to act against the SH, not even in a single instance, since that.
If Nekomamushi words had a deeper meaning than just "maybe he could betray the SH" (and we are used to expect these things having a deeper meaning in OP), it was a hint of something still waiting to happen. And whatever it was, it will not come from Pedro and Pekoms themselves as one is presumably dead and the other is completely side lined.
If it was just one more of the many hints on the "full moon power", it would justify the true meaning of those words still being kept in secret despite Pedro and Pekoms not being players in this arc anymore since that line would actually be aiming at Carrot's power up now and the whole mink tribe's power up in Wano - and the conclusion I was drawing is that, in that case, the moon power couldn't be a berserk mode because a berserker wouldn't be able to control another one.

I don't know if its been mentioned but there's been a lot of DBZ references and puns with the Minks and Carrot's character.
Zou's trees resemble the trees on Namek
Carrot = Kakkarot
Electro = (probably?) KiShe'll probably get a Super Electro form (ie. Super Saiyan) that makes her hair stand-up as static electricity does.
But the full moon power-up is probably the Mink equivalent of the Great Ape form.
-
…You do know that the joke about Saiyan names was already that they were vegetables, right? That the joke about Kakkorot was already Carrot? That's not a similarity, that's the entire joke.
And no, electro is nothing like ki. At all. Ki is a well established concept in eastern society, not just a power up move.
-

I hate and love this idea.

Whether or not this full moon development increases Carrot’s chances for joining, at the very least she’s being set up to get her time to shine as Pedro intimated.
There’s still no telling what the full moon is really going to do to her and possibly Pekoms. It’s definitely being hinted that it’s some sort of power increase, and the Dragon Ball/werewolf motif obviously comes to mind. But we don’t know how either a Mink’s body or mind will be affected. Do they grow or shrink, or stay roughly the same size? Do they become feral and uncontrollable like Monster Chopper was, or remain fully in control, or something in between? And do any remnants of their power-ups or any side effects remain after the moon disappears? We don’t even know if it affects all variants of Mink in the same way: Carrot could become faster, Pekoms stronger, etc.
The fact that it’s such a conditional power-up doesn’t sway me one way or the other. Jinbe can’t call whale sharks on land, and Franky needs to be near the Sunny to get his Shogun. The full moon is certainly a more time-sensitive requirement, but there are literary ways around that: training to unlock some of that power without the moon, or finding an artifact with lunar energy or something.
I'm going to try discussing here again and work to maintain an even keel. I don’t have much to add to what we've gone through before, but I definitely don’t think the DB homages, if that’s what they are, hurt Carrot’s chances.
-
Even Luffy can't stretch that far, I really doubt there any references to DB.
-
Well, I guess Skypeia was actually the big Dragonball homage, look how much that guy looks like Roshi. And Enel has big ears and baggy pants and electric powers like Piccollo.
-
…Regardless, I still think Carrot is joining.
-
Im torn because id love to see carrot kick ass but I also feel like if she doesnt here than pedros words mean something more important with time ti shine than just "yo beat this candy cane mother****a to death for me plz"
I still think weremink beserker is too on the nose, I think we'll get something electricity wise as a powerup and I think the potential of it to improve will be an important clue to whether she joins. Maybe she'll be able to electric her reflexes faster or something

Regardless of whether she fights someone this arc, I'm fairly sure it wasn't what Pedro's words were foreshadowing, though I could see why some would think otherwise.

Nami and Brook can just use their powers together to simulate a full moon whenever they want
like the fake moon Dragonball, easy peasy -
Zoro is a piccolo refrence.
Both have green on them and very strict.

I'm not fond of Carrot as a character anyway but she'd be stepping on a lot of toes if she did join the crew. Not nearly unique enough to contribute anything that would be lasting and special. Probably just a short-lived tagalong like the samurai were, but also a means of demonstrating what happens to Minks during a full moon without it being too outrageous compared to Nekomamushi or Inuarashi, the heaviest hitters we know of from there.
-
The best time for a demonstration would've been Wano imo, no particular need to have her be the first. We would have gotten less outrageous (presumably, we don't know what happens) power ups or w/e anyhow due to there being other Minks around.

Didn't most of the Minks stay on Zou or come to Big Mom's territory? I don't remember which or how many actually went with the other half of the crew to Wano. But who knows, maybe the SMILE DF users will have the same full moon effect? THAT would be impressive, so seeing what happens to Carrot now would be great buildup if Oda plans to unleash an army of them next time.

Jinbe is introduced as a member of Straw Hats in Kurumazaki Shrine in Kyoto known as spiritual spot for entertainment industry. People need to pay 90 dollars to get his name featured on the red fence called Tamagaki. Shonen Jump office/Shueisha paid for it.

Thanks for the news, manBut I think we can't say Jinbe is the official SHs until his name is addressed under the SH's band in the introduction part of the volume.
-
This is as official as it can get without being "canonical". The best part is that Jinbe joining is so established as a fact by now (I mean, even Jinbe already sees himself as part of the crew) that Shueisha apparently doesn't even see as a spoiler treating him that way.
-
Well the video games and toy people and all the merchandising were gearing up to make him the next member 4 years ago when Fishman Island was ending. So not too shocking that they're ready to be done with it, especially since he should be official within the next couple months assuming this arc doesn't go too crazy from here.
-
Good ol' Sandman bringing the good word!
I want someone to read that and say with a straight face Jimbei is not joining.
I want his official wanted poster hanging up in my home yesterday!
-
Rebecca, Hancock, Shirahoshi were so easy to turn down both as crewmembers and as characters.
Carrot is a lot harder though. Like I still don't think she'll join but _I want it._

Well now wonder, you had to defend Jinbei on reset from guy that thinks Carrot is a better fit.

Can we really not have both?

That would mean I think Oda cares to do so.

It's unfortunate that Carrot's name is Carrot and that other minks can do what she does otherwise I'd jump all over the Carrot bandwagon right now.
-
This is just the tease to prepare us for Wano and the mink army.
Still think its craaazy unfair on Oda's part to have a full moon one week after the last Even if the OP moon has always been weird he's never made it a point before it was convenient now.
-
Everything about Carrot is just throw together from her relationship with Pedro to this powerup /sarcasm

Greg was posting something on twitter about the Strawhats perhaps spending more time than thought on Zou while Chopper healed Zunisha. But I'm waiting to see him post something here about that.

Considering i don't think Greg posted here since he was hired I don't think he will considering he probably knows things.
-
Hey,
Shift
I'm wondering if you'd go in-depth into your thinking about Carrot joining. I'm still in the 'no' category, but I'm quite curious.
-
@Jazzy:
It's unfortunate that Carrot's name is Carrot and that other minks can do what she does otherwise I'd jump all over the Carrot bandwagon right now.
The name is not a factor since Jinbe.
The only reason Carrot looks like a more uncreative name than Jinbe to us is because we are not japanese native speakers. Not saying that Carrot is not a lazy name, but Jinbe really set the bar much lower for that… let's say for her name to be as uncreative, she would need to actually be called Bunny. That said, while this chapter made me realize I do want her to join, it further strengthened my impression that is not going to happen.
Like I mentioned in the spoiler thread, the Sulon transformation is definitely something that is going to join the SH repertoire. Too much foreshadow plus a whole chapter dedicated to show how amazing it is... that is too much for just an ability of some temporary allies. This is SH material thing.
Problem I see is who Sulon is going to belong to in the crew. If Chopper can use it, then Carrot chances of joining go to 0. If he can't, they go to max. But this chapter really made me think it's going to be the former. Two reasons: (1) the fact the whole thing came up after Chopper announced he was going to do the exact same thing highlighted their similarities - the strongest point against her - and it also means that not only Oda is perfectly aware of that but he also wants us to be aware of it too rather than diverting our attention from that; and (2) the fact it was only Chopper seeing the whole sequence in the crew and being truly moved by those powers (not to mention Luffy's absence in Carrot's "amazing moment" was a strong blow already - sure he missed Jinbe showing his godly abilities at the helm for the first time, but he already got something similar back in ID with the whale sharks).
And let's be honest, Chopper is the merchandise character. After making him conquer the fans by sheer cuteness, then trying to turn him into furry-shotacon material with the new Horn Point, turning him into a hot guy is the next obvious move (refer to: Hitsugaya).I can perfectly see Chopper asking Carrot to train him on their way to Wano and then he already having a grasp of it by the time they get there.
-
I think someone made a good point earlier, Oda could've saved this reveal for Wano , but for some reason Oda once again uses this Su Long thing to develop the mentor-student relationship between Carrot and Pedro.
Also, I'm ready to go full on Lookout as a viable role for her in the crew. I get the same vibes from seeing her play scout for them as I did when I saw Jinbe helming Luiffy's big escape away from Impel Down, I mean it's not something that they desperately need like a Doctor or Shipwright , but as we can see from this arc alone it can be very useful for long range scouting for enemies and Islands alike….Just seems like a prelude to something more.
At this point I'm just waiting for the allusions to Carrot staying with the crew to witness a new dawn as foreshadowed to her by Pedro himself.
-
Oh god, Bishi Chopper.
-
If Carrot had started with that facial structure, and that completely not-rabbit like tail, I'd actually give her better odds than I have for the last year. That's actually a unique face that isn't identical to Chopper's or anyone else's, and a couple details that are significantly different. But her base design is still just too plain to be something Oda has stewed on for months and years.
And the fact it's forcibly tied to the moon, and Oda made a huge point of showcasing Chopper about to do the exact same thing and focusing on him taking it all in, really makes me think its about giving him a better upgrade in the long run.
-
At the end of the day it's still apart of her character though Robby. It's like saying Chopper is only an interesting looking character in his walk point form , which has been true for some members within the fandom who aren't too found of the chibi form.
Also to be frank aside from more pronounced feminine features she looks pretty much the same to me aside from longer hair and tail.

Your argument doesn't work when Chopper had seven forms pre-timeskip that he could change into anytime and all had designs that stood out among the Straw Hats and every character introduced thus far in the series. While Carrot only has two forms, one of which is bland rabbit girl that already shares physical traits with other Straw Hats, and the other is an transformation that can only happen when a full moon is present.
The distinction of effort that Oda puts into designing a Straw Hat and a supporting character is clear.
-

Greg avoids nakama talk, ever since he works for Jump now.
-
Greg could know stuff so he just avoids it for the most part to not leak anything.
That and were not privy enough for it since we haven't given our soul to Oda :P
-
Let's be honest, if anything this transformation just upped the chances for this guy to join:
[hide][/hide]
And yes, he fills the lookout role too.
