No. Zoro v. Mihawk will be a real fight. Zoro wants to become the world strongest swordsman ; he will give everything he has for his final battle, and of course, Mihawk will too.

Not hapenning. Oda isn't goig to make Luffy play such a huge role in Shanks possible death after already making him lose him arm, and feel responsible for Ace death.

If Shanks defeats him Luffy wouldn't need to, and that would be counter to how Oda has consistently developed the plot. No major villain has ever been taken care of without the help of the straw hats.

Kidd is not a major villain. He is a guy that is trying to compete with our main hero. Having him fail while Luffy succeed would prove to the world who of the two is the superior one. Oda hasn't set up a confrontation for them but a competition(with Kidd always telling how he'll make the biggest news).

Maybe this would mean Luffy and Shanks will defeat the Kidd aliance together before Shanks is ultimately defeated by BB. I like the sound of this, it's an acceptable option imo. I still think Kidd is much more important than you give him credit. His importance is equal to that of Kaido/ Big mom imo.

Luffy is not going to share the defeat of his mentor with someone else. He is the one he has to prove how far he's come. He is not going to get tag team in epic battle where they leave him half dead and destroyed his crew. That is not the kind of relation he has with Shanks and Shanks himself is to important to get that kind of treatment.

I did say if it was Big mom or Kaido he would have a slight chance. Sadly it is Shanks. He can always hope to have play a role in his defeat against Blackbeard by weakening him but that is has much he can hope to accomplish against such an important figure for the story. It's not about Shanks being a yonko but Shanks being the mentor of the main character. The same way Law was not going to beat Doflamingo the moment Luffy was in the vicinity. No matter how important those rivals can seem they are some things that they will not be allowed to accomplished.

The history between Whitebeard and Gold Rodger is not completely fleshed out, but I don't think reaching raftel alone would make someone the pirate king. The destinction of "strongest pirate alive" is also important.

Not sure what more we would need to know on their relation.
Conquering the oceans is what made Roger the king. No reference was ever made to being the strongest and in fact he was said to have some one matching him.
It's not about strength, it's about being the best.

Clearly the world believed Rodger was stronger than Whitebeard, and that Whitebeard was close, but not quite as powerful. Read my last post for why Shanks must be killed.

Where does that come from? That's not simply an assumption. That's straight up going against what was said in the manga where Whitebeard is said to be equal to Roger and the silver medalist is those who lost to both him and Roger. Nowhere is it ever said strength wise Roger was better. He became the king because he accomplished the impossible in his last trip. I mean it's already pretty rare for Roger to be mentioned, so for strength reference it's even rarer.

Luffy fought seriously against Garp in order to save ace, not defeat Garp. This is an important distinction. Given no clear motive to defeat someone in battle, Luffy would not give his all and his all would be what it took to defeat Shanks. Same with Ace. Oda has already told us that Luffy would never manage to beat Ace, as he never could as a child. I don't think any amount of training would help either. Luffy is only strong when he needs to be. Thus a "casual" spar would not show Luffy at his strongest. In all of one piece, Luffy is consistently pretty much defeated, if it weren't for his will to carry on the fight. This is heightened when his nakama's lives are on the line. Without this extra motivation Luffy would never fight at full strength because he is too kind hearted and gentle.

He does not need to beat Shanks to a bloody pulp to prove Shanks he has surpass him. His accomplishments will speak for him and maybe a decent sparring. The same way his accomplishments will put him as the pirate king.

Shanks was banking on Luffy being the the future and the leader of a new era. Shanks didn't necessarily want Luffy to eventually defeat him(as in a rival), he wanted to motivate Luffy to do great things so he could eventually inspire change in the world and a new generation of pirates. While the two are related, being a great pirate is foremost important. But speculation as to his meaning is just speculation. You may interpret it as you like.

And to do so beating Shanks is not necessary. Blackbeard will pull him out of the way(if he ever was).

While letting his enemies weakened a target is in Teach's character (see Whitebeard), I don't believe he will attack Shanks after he fights Luffy. I'd instead look at the Kidd-Apoo-Hawkins alliance as the culprit; Oda didn't have Killer mention they were going after Red-Hair for no reason.

But the thread was titled "Becoming the pirate king: Clarified"
The part of the thread where I discussed Shanks was the immediately relavant point, but the over arching theory had to do with clarifying what the pirate king actually is, and how someone could go about becomming the pirate king. Several of the points that are revealed from this can be used to imo definitively prove several of the most important unresolved plots in one piece.

If you had read my post you would know that.

Just because you don't want to read it all the way through doesn't make it "a bad theory" or a post not deserving of it's own thread.

I also find it interesting how difficult y'all are to please. If the post is too small and for whatever reason you disagree with the overall premise you poke holes through it. If I actually produce a detailed account of why i personally believe something "it's too long".

Long = thorough = most accurate(typically speaking, not always, if the post contains evidence and/ or reasonable assumptions. these are the BEST posts imo.

What i'm attempting to discuss would more appropriately be defined as a prediction, which is based on evidence and stated assumptions.

If it's the kind of talk that can go 5 pages without repeating itself. Yours would probably quickly turn quite quickly on the " I stick to my opinion thing". You can always put it in the general theory thread. If it's makes enough of a discussion, then a mod can decide to make it a topic.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Again though, my post was unfinished. That was just the intro for a "complete" theory that would eventually cover a good majority of all the unresolved plots of One piece. Again with evidence etc. etc. each section's stated solution would in some way further support future points, I would make. It was much too long to include in "one piece" lol

I only made that assumption based on what was said to me by you and Robby and the other guy. None of you seemed aware of my piece at the end, therefore it's unlikely you read my post all the way through.

Everything sited as wiki was cite-able from the manga as well, unless I specifically mentioned i couldn't find it in the wiki. I did this for 2 reason; 1. So I could skip having to make adition page breaks to keep the flow and 2. Because I knew, if I was asked, I could provide to manga source. I stated this at the very top of the post.

Theoretically let's say a really terrible stupid theory was brought up a long time ago when the irrelevant side character originally actually was around, and people spent inordinate amounts of time crushing the terrible stupid theory.
Many moons later beyond all sense of logic and human dignity, long past the point when the associated erections subsided with this character, when most decent sorts of folks had forgotten she had even existed, someone very possibly trolling us all brings the entire discussion back up like it had never happened in the first place.

Someone can step outside the box. After the time skip, I can't see it being anybody new. The development is lacking, and frankly, they will be too weak. If Jinbei's joining the crew, then Croco-boy's joining the crew. That panel in ID when team level 6 forms, is stuck with me. Croc may have an agenda, but he has shown to put those on the side for bigger things, like in the Whitebeard War. If Mr.1 goes down then he's gonna be a lone wolf and looking for something to do, won't he? The NW gen of crewmates need to be tough as fuck. Like two former Shichibukais. Any new little rodent they pick up on a island seems like a waste of potential when set against all of the well-developed, well-involved characters we have in the story line. He'll be like Vegeta. Everyone needs a Vegeta.

If we are talking about former villains, then Moria could join. He has a sad backstory, he looks funny, is funny and he could steal the shadows of every enemy SHs defeat and use them in the final war.

In the war of the greatest, only a few characters stood out at me as actually altering the path of the war: Luffy, Blackbeard, Akainu, Croc, Coby, Shanks. The rest of the seem to be pushed by the winds of likelihood and thereby suffered. I think this says a lot about Croc, in terms, of 'StrawHat-ability'.

I would see him more as an ally than an actual straw hat. He doesn't have the straw hat spirit, and he's an ambitious man willing to create an army. So, I don't think so.
