Don't get me wrong, didn't mean to refer they can't be more than 3 or less Admiral, but my point lies on what Jimbie said..

Let's talk about the granny kicking ass.
Shall we?
Yeah, that granny is awesome. Made me smile the very first page of the chapter.
-
Nice chapter, and a nice ending to PH.
Looking forward to next chap.
-
well I could careless if my reasoning is shitty or poorest to you, I will keep believing that Kizaru is the only Admiral until Oda proves me wrong, but till then I dont have any reason to agree with you since you ain't Oda.
Well, Oda already proved you wrong by referring to them as "Admirals" (note the "S" which indicates them as plural entity rather than "Admiral"). There is no translation error either.
-
Jam packed chapter, so much to write about I don't know if I'll be able to do it coherently!
We start as ever with the cover page, so happy to see the granny kicking ass! Can't wait to see where this one goes.
The flashback was really interesting, I love how Oda throughout this chapter really wanted to make a point out of how fearsome the emperors are first by having Law make a point of it then by backing that up with Doflamingo's visible fear of Kaido. Also we got the reveal that Kaido isn't quite human, at the moment I'm stuck between two possible explanations;
- He's an animal (a lion maybe) who like Chopper ate some mythical zoan variant of the Hito-Hito no Mi, if that's true then we could have something incredible on our hands.
- He's a new species that is the land-dwelling equivelent of the Fishmen (possibly a minkman?)
I'm more inclined to think that he's a new species because of the fact that we know that we're due to discover a new species in the upcoming chapters but it's also possible that Green Bit will be the home of a new species GRRRRRRR so many possibilities!!!!!!
The whole scene with the marines was wonderful, very emotional and well put together. The surprise star of this arc for me has been Tashigi, throughout the arc she's shown to be a character who strives to do whats right no matter what the circumstances. She's stood up to protect her men in the face of far superior opposition, she's been willing to work with her enemies to protect those who are in need, she's done her upmost to ensure the safety of the children and now she's accepted that Pirates arent all bad. She's really developed from when we first saw her and she immediately hated Zoro because he was a pirate, her attitude towards Justice and those she fights against and fights for seems to have really developed under Smoker and through her interactions with the Straw Hats and I for one am a big fan.
The confrontation between Law and Doflamingo was really well done, I have to say my favourite part was that the first thing DD seemed concerned about was the wellbeing of Buffalo and Baby 5, his dire situation seemed to come second to the immediate safety of his crew and I for one expect to see his next efforts go into getting back Vergo and Monet, it's really refreshing to see an enemy of the SH's have such a concern for their subordinates, I really like this aspect of his character. Law sounded pretty badass throughout (he always does) and his plan seems to be unfolding nicely, it seems like a great idea to put Doflamingo in this catch 22 where he has to decide which powerhouses hunt him down but I have a problem with it. At the end of the war DD made a big deal out of how the WG support meant little to him and that he'd happily give up the title any time, this attitude doesnt fit in with his attitude now at all. Maybe Oda can explain it but I'm a tad disappointed with that.
Finally, great to see confirmation that we have more than one admiral! I always believed that there'd be new admirals after the TS so it makes no difference to me I was just getting sick of certain posters asserting that Borsalino was the only admiral on this board for the last couple months.
-
I approve of this^ I think it could be an inter island alt. transportation method for the new world
the fact is that the first time we've seen doflamingo flying he was not running in a straight line, but more like floating
-
now that we're on the subject of kaidou anyways, x-drake went to that island of his and killed (or captured at least) that robot guy so kaidou would come there.
someone as drake wouldnt think he could beat kaidou like that…. who else thinks drake wanted to work for kaidou, and wanted to show him he was strong enough to do it by beating the robot? That makes sense, after all his devil fruit would probably fit in with Kaidou's whole theme…
And on a different note, about the whole "Law taking the spotlight to much" thing, I think Oda just wants to showcase how Luffy won't be the only Supernova making an impact in the New World and how he will have competition when it comes to people on his "level"

Damn getting ganged up by the whole forum isn't kool:getlost:… Y'all are right, Marines have more than one Admiral! End of Convo/argument..
! yeah right, my point still stands though:ninja:
-
Akainu is a fleet Admiral. He's not the owner, but he's damn well the CEO.
wrong
! do you read the manga? kong is more like the CEO (actually commander/chief), and the council of the gorusei are like the board of directors (the real authority behind the WG). the fleet admiral is not 'damn well the CEO' please re-read the last ~697 chapters ;).

your point was proven wrong by this chapter.
-
Yea and there are other guys who are as strong as admiral but theyre not public.

Earlier I posted a comment saying that this week was clear of us being stuck on one Issue… that one problem that we can't agree on.
Well... i was wrong
THIS WEEK'S ISSUE: How many Admirals are there?
but i found it more interesting to see what option would DD take. to put down his shicibukai title would be giving up his dream to be pirate king, knowing that he's using the same methode like crocodile and moria (using shicibukai title to prepare thing before challenge the new world).

Alright! New Chapter!
First of all, G5 Marines are sure as hell inconsistent and entertaining. Luffy would've accepted Law's offer even if they just had 0.00001% chances. Hell even 0% would be good for Luffy. No surprise here.
As for the Sky Walk, yes, I have the same opinion it is the same thing as the time Scratchmen Apoo stumbled on it. It was the first thing that came to my mind.
Finally, Law steals it once again. Now he's forced Doflamingo to choose either Kaidou or the WG. And I believe Doflamingo will choose to stay as Shichibukai, because that's what Law really wants, he wants to weaken Kaidou. So far, what we've seen of Law, is that he's a smart weasel. And a very effective one. If anything, Law reminds me of this guy:
-
Kaidou will be weakened if dd rejects his schichibukai.. So admiral will fight kaidou and dd and than law and luffy attacks
-
Btw not sure I interpreted the panels rigth but I assume Kinemon and Momonosuke are in the marine ship also?
-
Kaidou will be weakened if dd rejects his schichibukai.. So admiral will fight kaidou and dd and than law and luffy attacks
I wouldn't say he'd be weakened. It's more that his progress will be halted.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Btw not sure I interpreted the panels rigth but I assume Kinemon and Momonosuke are in the marine ship also?
Can't tell either, but I'm gonna assume Kinnemon and Momo going with the SH
-
My theory may be wrong, but maybe the smoke flares that Law left on the raft messed up DD's "Sky Road"
I was wondering why there were flares on the raft in the first place, did he know DD was coming or were they there just to alert anyone?
-
I think Law wants Dofla to quit shichibukia so Dofla can't stay on Dressrosa anymore….. I saw someone's idea of Luffy becoming a shichibukia in order for Law plan to move more quickly, Law will be like: Strawhat! I need you to be a shichibukia, with this we can focus on Kaido alone, we can't take on both Kiado, his allies, and marines at the same-time..
-
Dude admiral are strong like hell sure kaidou will be weakened…. Remember how akainu fought whitebeard and actually killed him, the strongest man in the world..

But without the severe obesity, alcoholism and tantrums :p
Awesome chapter~ Wonder what Doflamingo will do?
The most INTERESTING things: this Sky Road: are there lots? or just one? If it's the same as the one Apoo's crew ran up, it seems that it's pretty much that anyone can use it. Meanwhile, it appears the next destination for the alliance is 'Green Bit' … unless Law will split from hsi allies for a while. Anyway, not Wanokuni next, but I guess that can wait. Meanwhile, Kaidou is not even human? Please let him be a cyborg and not a DF user, that would be cool :D
-
The problem seems to be "that have been three admirals before, so the limit is three admirals, if there are three admirals, then how Coby will become an admiral to fulfill his dream and shows it off to Luffy?". Like there can't be more than three admirals aswell.
This is getting stupid.coby will stuck at rear - admiral rank then retire after realizing how hard it is to reach the admiral rank. :ninja:
so anyone think that doflamingo has a back up plan , so he wont end up revoking his warlord title or making kaidou angry . if only he knew about shirahoshi and brought her to kaidou, this would be enough to calm kaidou down i think . whats better than having posiedon at your disposal. but i dont think all of this will happen because of the deadline that law gave.
its interesting to see doflamingo in this desperate situation , looking forward to what will he do about it.
-
Yea and there are other guys who are as strong as admiral but theyre not public.
it's possible that there are people who have improved in the two years span.
it's not like the mugiwara are the only people who can train themselves -
Do you see EOS Coby & Helmeppo being stronger than Bogart?
-
Dude admiral are strong like hell sure kaidou will be weakened…. Remember how akainu fought whitebeard and actually killed him, the strongest man in the world..
Whitebeard was killed by the Blackbeard Pirates. Whitebeard beat Akainu after Akainu punched off part of his head by quaking him into the ground.
-
My theory is that Law wants to convince Dofla to help take down Kaidou by putting him in a lose lose situation. Dofla knows either way Kaidou is going to find out and will want to kill him, so instead Dofla will join the Alliance and start posioning the Smiles or doing something to them (mind control has been brought up) so that he can at least go down swinging instead of just giving up.
-
Don't get me wrong, didn't mean to refer they can't be more than 3 or less Admiral, but my point lies on what Jimbie said..
Jinbe said that they had to compensate for Aokiji's defection, not because he was an Admiral, but because he was powerful. That means promotion for Admiral is possible, but if the promoted guy isn't as strong as Aokiji, the gap will still be there.
A promotion doesn't make one stronger. They can't fill gaps of power.
-
Yeah, that granny is awesome. Made me smile the very first page of the chapter.
Ditto! I wonder what those projectiles are. Rocks? Dinosaur poop? Is that her devil fruit ability or is she using Haki. So many questions.
-
I did like this chapter quite alot. Though Law didn't have to do that to Baby 5 now did he ?
-
Dude admiral are strong like hell sure kaidou will be weakened…. Remember how akainu fought whitebeard and actually killed him, the strongest man in the world..
1.) akainu didn't kill him. Whitebeard was giving him a smackdown even with half his face missing. I'd venture a guess if it'd continued, WB would've put him down.
2.) It's arguable that WG wasn't the strongest at the time, he was very old and his power has probably. deteriorated a lot since he's earned that title.
3.) WG was stabbed in a giant ass sword in the chest before he fought Akainu, he very well could've held up better if not for that injury.
edit: Law's den den mushi is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
Moral of the chapter, Law is an official troll.
Quite a problematic situation he's put Doflamingo in. The problem is that even if Doflamingo quits the Shichibukai, Law can still not give him Ceaser. Quite a situation he's put him in, and he has to make the decision in less then a day as well.
Doflamingo unsurprisingly being scared of Kaido and not being in Yonko level and confirmation that there's 2 admirals or more now. It is very amusing as I notice a few people in here love to throw away their speculation as fact a little too much.
-
Law will be like: Strawhat! I need you to be a shichibukia, with this we can focus on Kaido alone, we can't take on both Kiado, his allies, and marines at the same-time..
Of course, Luffy would adamantly refuse.
There's only so long you can ally yourself with the Straw Hat Captain before something goes horribly wrong. And I think their alliance might not work out…...these last few chapters, Luffy has been disregarding Law's orders.....
"why did you knock Caesar away? We were supposed to capture him!"
"screw you, I do what I want""Straw Hat, we need to go!"
"You're right....LET'S PARTY!"They're on good terms now, and I doubt Luffy has forgotten Law saved him at the War.....but I dunno. I have the feeling things will go wrong, and Luffy will find himself to be an enemy of Law......he's much too reckless for Law's systematic "plan this, plan that" way of operations.
-

probably law used them to make the raft visible from distance

I think that they can work together, but Law just has to understand that Luffy isn't gonna change. Law will have to be the one to change. Law is a smart enough guy so I'm sure he'll be able to devise plans that take in Luffy's nature into consideration

Maybe. But we all know how much of a wildcard Luffy is.

@$abZ:
Don't people remember how much Oda referenced the "balance of the world's power"? As soon as a Shichibukai was defeated the marines called a meeting straight away to find the replacement to balance the world again. Leaving one Admiral is a serious backstep from what they had before. Also the gov't know the meaning of fear through reputation (could the be reason for the glorious induction of Buggy as Shichibukai, which hasn't been confirmed yet). The 3 Admirals before were seen almost as celebrities, keeping the world at ease because they knew that they had 3 powerful protectors of justice. The marines would want to keep the morale of the world's residents high in difficult times.
just to get into this for a bit, i re-read that part a little while ago, and what i noticed was that Buggy received a mysterious letter from the government, and a few pages LATER the Gorosei were talking about what to do, and one of them said "what do we do about the 3 missing Schichibukai spots?" to me this sounds like they were only then trying to decide who to invite. meaning that the letter to Buggy should have been about something else.
EDIT: just before i get called on this, i know he didnt say he thought that buggy was gonna be a schichibukai! he said it wasnt confirmed, i know. im just saying i think that whatever the letter was, i believe that it was not about the schichibukai spot, for the reason i gave.
-
What is kid gonna do? Attack kaidou too?

This is what I think. At face value the idea of Luffy becoming a warlord is just a contradiction of character. But once Luffy is told that we need to balance his enemies, it may convince him to suck it up until then. This might also continue to take away the credibility of "warlord", and weakens the end game WG.

A WEIRD THEORY: Could Kaidou be a very powerful, Awakened Mythical Zoan?
-
Obviously I'm in the minority here, but this chapter just didn't do it for me. Between Tashigi crying again, G-5 and their dumb logic and Law undermining yet another top-tier character and setting sail with the Straw Hats on the Sunny, I was quite underwhelmed. Then again, I've never been a fan of Law or the smug, "just as planned" character archetype, so Punk Hazard has been letting me down for quite a while now.
@Daz: I second your emotions…

I think they have to work together. I've been mulling over the idea that the Supernovas, especially Law, were introduced to basically be what the New World pirates were to Whitebeard: dangerous, powerful pirates who have their own goals and ambitions, but, ultimately, follow a Yonko-level pirate. Except, in this case, the Supernovas eventually fall in line with Luffy as their leader. Law's development has shown him to be cunning and resourceful, but he still has no choice but to curtail to Luffy's power and attitude. In this way, I can see the New World developing the Supernovas in the same way the Grand Line developed the Straw Hats, as they begin to develop into Luffy's second source of muscle, the first being his crew. The only Supernova, thus far, that appears to be a wild card is Kidd, espeically with him forming his own alliance with Hawkins and Apoo, but considering his curiosity about Luffy, I think even he will fall in line.
Luffy has to become the Pirate King at the end of the series. To me, that means a combination of having either beaten the pirates into submission and leading those pirates that he doesn't beat. Crocodile has already been a pretty glaring example of someone who fits both of these descriptions, and I expect Moria to appear and continue this trend when the Straw Hats and Law confront Kaido. Law is the latter, and I expect him to stay that way.

kaidou is an alien Xd

Luffy didn't even uphold his promise to catch Caesar. I can never see Luffy doing something like following the orders of Marines.
-
@Foxy:
We saw all the major Vice-Admirals in Film Z and none of them were promoted.
And I doubt there's any other Marine who strong enough to be an Admiral, because we would have seen them during Marineford.
You should start listening to the Podcast, as, during his very awesome movie Z recap, Greg discussed how ti would appear that Strawberry has been promoted to Admiral, based on the color of the shoulder plates, as he and Kizaru were the only ones with gold that Greg saw in the movie.
-
Luffy didn't even uphold his promise to catch Caesar. I can never see Luffy doing something like following the orders of Marines.
And even if he did, the Marines would never ask him. He's caused WAY too much trouble for them.

Holy dickens.
Thanks for pointing the obvious out for this noob child known as zachri von derposini the first. -
its time like this, that i dislike luffy, law is showings how to do this and in a ingenius way, i didnt see this good strategie since death note, a tough decision but i would choose the marines, the admirals are scarier than kaidou, im sure law isnt acounting for jmbei that ups the scale a lot, im sure we will leave luffy to figh kaidou and then defeats him himself or something like that.
-
Not of much relevance but finally the hundredth chapter since the timeskip.

Also, realy wish we don't see Law again for a loooong time.

Anyone else think that Law will ask Luffy to become Shichi ?
