I'm quite intrested about Doflmingo's past. He must have been involved in something really big if Vergo thinks that even the new era can't threaten his position. I don't think he has family relations in goverment or underground or anything like that since SBS has shown that he grew in the streets. It's probably something he did in his youth.
I'm suprised how well Vergo took his defeat. Tought that he would be much more frustrated with it. He could have lasted longer tough.
I don't think that Caesar is done yet. It wouldn't be left in a cliffhanger. Just wondering how much longer he will last. After him there should be Baby 5 and Buffalo and I have no idea how Oda is gonna handle their part. It just seems rushed if they took straw hats on right after Caesar is defeated.
On the spoiler thread you said Zoro doesn't give a damn about the marines, so tell me why should Luffy give a damn about CC killing off his stupid henchmen ?
i should point out that i never said he "should" but he does. apparently he finds ppl lying to their subordinates among other things despicable. plus depicted by both sanji when talkin about the type of person he dislikes (vergo at this moment) and also this chapter when mentioned by usopp, it is evident that luffy doesnt like what he's doing.

Also, it's 3 week's in a row of colorspreads. I think this will be the heavyweight, with the next 2 being less ambitious; otherwise, Oda'll work himself to death.

Doflamingo is sitting in an armchair smoking a cigarette on an island with palm trees that could almost be Dresrosa. He could be a runaway kid like Sabo, an outcast or a little ruffian for all we know. Some people looked very obviously poor like little Kuzan or Kuma, but I wouldn't say so about Doflamingo at all.
Vergo's statement is basically that pure strength is not enough in a deep-rooted world. Some family connections to the higher-ups seem very plausible to me. Heck, doesn't he get addressed as "Young master" by his crewmembers? I'm putting my money on either the Tenryubito or a (former) Yonkou.
Great chapter, I hope the fight between Luffy and Caesar doesn't drag out (it might already be over).
One question: Has Caeser absorbed ALL of Shinokuni or is it still a threat to the SHs? Because the gas stopped flowing in the room where Luffy and co were after Caesar absorbed it.
So I reckon Baby 5 and Buffalo will somehow save Vergo and Monet. Maybe they'll come face to face with the SHs, maybe not. But they wont get Caesar… because losing him would fuck Doflamingo off even more than he is, which would make Luffy another target for him as well as Law.
After this arc I'm hoping Kinemon and Momosuke become the new Straw Hat allies. Would be nice to see the two sailing with the SHs, and to see the drop off point (Wano Country?! I think Oda would make an amazing arc out of that). After Wano Country (if it happens) we'll reach the big dawgs, and get to find out why Doflamingo's past has been referred to as an asset. It could just be something that just proves his fighting power to those that really know him. Or an alliance with a Yonkou as people have said.

I read the last 6 pages, to everyone who is complaining that Luffy didn't take care of C.C earlier and was responsible for the deaths of C.C's henchmen.
1. Luffy wasn't supposed to beat C.C to a pulp, he's supposed to capture him. But I guess now things change since Luffy is really pissed off.
2. Why should Luffy be responsible for the death of some dumb henchmen who invited death?We all know Luffy hates the kind of people who "use" their underlings/crewmates, C.C is one of them and he'll get what he deserves in the coming chapters.
Usopp was the man this chapter with his speech, even though many say he should have defeated those underlings I think what he did now is better. Fighting uselessly wouldn't have done him any good, now he can use them on their side to somehow block Shinokuni. I loved this chapter, building up for the climax I guess :P
Can't wait for the MS version, since I know they'll have the color spread and also better translation than Mangapanda
to ur first point, yes, luffy was supposed to capture and not beat him to a pulp.
to ur second point as to how he's partially responsible. after he left the garbage bin, luffy was mad b/c of the things cc was doing. he dislikes those kind of ppl and apparently got even more upset when he found out about what happened to brownbeard. luffy had the potential to stop any further damage to happen after he met up with cc but he delayed it and it got worse.
think of it this way; ur a person that hates thieves. one day u see a robbery take place and ur upset. u know if u call the cops the thieves will get caught then and there but for w/e reason u dont. the next day u see them again robbing another place and u get even more upset and now u call the cops. why didnt u call them the first time? by u not dealin with the problem when it arose u are know partially responsible for what happens there after.
hehe, On re-reading the chapter, I noticed the G-5 medics adressing Chopper as "Chopper-yan" like they did with Smoker. hehe looks like another strawhat has gotten their respect. Next thing we know they'll think Zoro saved Tashigi (since he was carrying her) and respect him too …at Tashigi's annoyance "I was fine!"

Remember, CoA not only allows the user bypass the DF defences and allow the user to strike the target, but it also creates an "invisible armor", or a barrier, shielding him/her from physical damage.
That should include flames and other harmful contact.It's obviously not perfect, and he/she may sustain some damage, but that's gonna be up to his/her mastery of CoA.
mmhm, interesting. this brings up some old things to consider. i wonder why ace didnt use haki to stop akainu's attack…. or maybe he did? and got the vergo treatment? if so shouldnt we have seen a display of CoA on ace's body?

But since he's merged with a poisonous gas, it'll be harder to take him down. And.....how will he go down, without it being a cop-out or a deus ex machina? Maybe Franky's absence will lead to something. Maybe Usopp being in that room could do something. Speaking of:

I like to think that Oda has been pretty consistent in showing us that Luffy is pretty damn good against really big enemies.
Against Lucci he had trouble using Gear third, and one of the 2 said something along the lines that it has enormous destructive power, but is kinda slow.
Against giant targets that don't have that much mobility, Luffy can unleash his most destructive attacks and he'll probably hit spot on.
It happened with Moria, happened with that giant during the war, happened with the Pacifista (first time around), and, to a degree, with Noah. And now it's gonna happen again against Caesar.
I think Luffy is really happy when he's facing a giant enemy.
Edit: Also, concerning many of the SH's not having much to do during an arc, it happened before in other arcs; remember that Oda basically wrote Zoro off Drum, and it's not like Usopp did much more than him.
Now, Oda has to juggle with not 5, but 9 crew members. Every once in a while, things like that are bound to happen. Franky goes to the Sunny for some chapters, Zoro goes to train in a frozen lake, Robin and Usopp are there but not doing much. . .Then, next arc, Usopp, Robin and Franky get their awesome moments while Sanji is on the ship recovering from his leg injury and Nami and Chopper look over him. . .
Or something along these lines.

Looks like it! I think between Usopp working the panel and whatever Franky's cooking up, they'll help Luffy in stopping Caesar (more so, the massive outbreak of gas)
Also, looking back, Mocha seems to be recovering, but I hope Chopper's situation gets more highlight than that.

He looks pretty poor to me. Why would a rich kid look so dirty and have such old-looking sofa? I don't really believe he has any important family ties. Of course, like you said he could be a runaway and his family could have found him later but why would he want to escape a life of luxury? Probably not on moral grounds like Sabo at least.
