Jinbe's intention can't be to turn Caribou in to G-5 considering he has a high bounty himself.
Chapter 681: "Luffy Vs. Master"
-
-
Oh man..Sanji was so cool this chapter! And law at the end with that evil smile..what an epic chapter!
-
Jinbe's intention can't be to turn Caribou in to G-5 considering he has a high bounty himself.
Maybe he'll drop him at the door, ring the doorbell, and jump back into the water?
Cue Caribou getting into hijinxs trying to escape Marines
-
ONE PIECE 681 RAW HQ
Thankie, Redon!
It seems the G5 base is not really abandoned, but only isn't taken care of, so it's in rough condition. Well, we know how "caring" G5 marines are.
Also, I kinda suspect Luffy isn't using CoA when he use the jet pistol.
-
Jinbe's intention can't be to turn Caribou in to G-5 considering he has a high bounty himself.
Well its probably his best option aside from outright killing him. Logia's aren't something your average person can handle, and its probably better to just dump him off with the Marines and leave than anything else he can do.
Besides that–Remember that Jinbe is a good guy, and is probably supportive of the concept of the Marines in general even if he's not fond of how they've specifically acted. A giant, planet-spanning police force sounds very attractive in a world overrun with world-destroying pirates. It could be he thinks its the right thing to do, the safest place to put Caribou, and probably not too far out of his way.
-
Jinbe's intention can't be to turn Caribou in to G-5 considering he has a high bounty himself.
Jinbe could pwn the entire G-5 base, since Smoker and Vergo aren't there right now. No problem for him there
-
@CCC:
-as Sagippio said, the G-5 base is just beaten-up. Not abandoned.
Thanks for the clarification, I thought it was abandoned when I read the past pages of the thread and saw the picture where all the signs were circled…..
-
SAD = The child of Sabo and Donflamingo which will turn the New World into chaos. :ninja:
-
Thanks CCC. I wonder just what those tankers are responsible for. Do they import raw materials, or export a refined product? If it's an export thing, then I have a feeling that it's not so much the SAD material itself as much as the equipment to create it that Law's after. Otherwise he could just target those tankers.
The import concept is easier for me to work out in my head why it's a huge threat.
Though I still have to ask, why did Law need to become a Shichubuki to get to the SAD room? Its not like CC let him in because of that.
Yeah, I also wonder why Law needed to become a Shichi, but I guess we'll know soon enough.
Maybe he became a Shichi because he was searching some infos about the current location of that room…
I got around to reading the beginning of this thread and realized this was never answered. Law became a warlord in order to get to that island in the first place. It's already been established that it can't be tracked by a log pose and is therefore extremely difficult to find. Only the WG has the means to locate it.
-
Monet could be a mythic zoan, like Marco except with ice…
-
SAD = Secret Apocalypse Device
-
Monet can still be a cockatrice mythical zoan, right? That's the closest mythical bird creature that has power over stones that I know of. And don't give me the thing that what she did was made of snow, 'coz it doesn't look like it.
Cockatrices were like Medusas. They couldn't create "stone" out of nowhere. Just get over it.
-
When we S.A.D. translated are we seeing the romanization of Japanese characters or an actual translation of the acronym? Does anyone know?

What he is after needs to be handled in a specific way, that
s why it
s important that they get a hold of CC.
I would still place my bets on a device, that is able to subtract DF-powers /strenght of a human or something in that line, and was created by Vegapunk. (CC as his former partner may be the only other person to get that thing going)
We know DFs can be absorbt by materials, so that may be the device how to get the "devil" out of a DF for it, especially when this was anyways Vegapunks working place.
Just why did they leave that device there and to whom are they sending tanks full of the substrat they produce ? -
So it turns out Miok was in katakana rather than English (ミオーク Miōku). I did a general search, but the only word I could find that sort of fit the romanisation was M.I.O.A.K. (Mystic Insignia Of A Klansman, i.e. KKK emblem). Maybe I was just distracted by the picture of KKK setting everything on fire on the wikipedia page, but I'm wondering whether that's the source of the attack's name. Or I could be completely wrong, which is more likely.
If it was Myouku then it would be like to "bright sky", (明空) so I guess that could be a possibility too…
Anyone have any better ideas?
-
Monet could have some mytical Articunno zoan :P
or wathever the three birds from pokemon are based of.

We know from Monet that Law's plan involves getting both SAD and CC, and CC says that if Law gets his hand on SAD, Law won't get away with it. Meaning some power greater than CC will be after Law, presumably the brokers.
So if Law only got the SAD by capturing the tanker, I assume he won't be able to use it since it seems it requires CC in some way, so it would be a bad plan. Furthermore, those who know that to use SAD requires CC will guard CC so it will be very difficult for Law to get him. Likewise, if he got CC without SAD, he would be chased by the brokers too. And those people will be strenghtening their guard on SAD.
So he needed to get the SAD and CC at the same time, and he became Shichibukai to smooth things up with his presence in PH, and when the SH came, he knew it's time to go further with his plan, thus he proposed the alliance with Luffy.
So I don't think it's the device but the SAD itself, plus CC.
-
Does anyone really doubt Law's intentions? I highly disbelieve that he'll try and fxck Luffy over, at least not until they're both on the shores of Raftel, then things'll be a little different, I'm sure. Basically, who actually believes CC on this one? That gas-bastard's chatting a load of hot air(!).
Sanji vs. Vergo - bad-ass. That's some tekkai shxt right there. Fxck another DF user on this island. What's more, Sanji's doing it big right now, however, Vergo's blatantly got something up his sleeve. Shinokuni's coming though, those guys'll hafta' scram at some point, leaving more room for Vergo vs. Smoker (which, I'm not so bothered about since we can clearly see that Sanji vs. Vergo's a fxcking madness).
CC vs. Luffy - Glad that guy's pulling out all kinda' tricks against Luffy. Glad that Luffy's clearly the tougher guy. Glad that Luffy's gonna' brawl with Monet. Is she using snow? Or is it purely because her attack looks like an igloo? If she's Logia, she'll be the first female Logia in the series.
Bring on next week, I say. There're no weird breaks or anything, right?
-
SAD is definitely some gas related substance, which is why they need to capture Caeser. They can force him to do something ridic with the gas.
Maybe it's some substance tha screws with devil fruit abilities, and that it was locked away because of the instability it would cause to the whole world.

Isn't it odd for Ceasar to be so freaked out if he knows that he's needed for Law to be able to do anything? Ceasar is definitely a part of this plan somehow, but I think it's reasonable to assume that Law's access to this room is dangerous by itself.
And the brokers are merely traders, who seem to be made up of pirates. They'll fend for themselves without relying on each other. Can you really imagine Kid and Big Mom coming to Ceasar's aide on this? The enemy in this case is Dofla and his empire, not the brokers as a whole.

I'm sure CC knows that Law's access to the room has great consequences, so he freaks out because he didn't think that Law would be crazy enough to plan to get to the SAD.
And the brokers are merely traders, who seem to be made up of pirates. They'll fend for themselves without relying on each other. Can you really imagine Kid and Big Mom coming to Ceasar's aide on this? The enemy in this case is Dofla and his empire, not the brokers as a whole.
Ah yes, it's kinda jumbled in my head that broker = joker and brokers = joker and his men, silly me. But I imagine that SAD is important for most if not all brokers. After all, Law's access to it can create havoc in the NW.
He became a warlord so he could get to the island in the first place.
Well, I'm sure Law knew about the SAD tanker, so he could've just hitchhiked (edit: I mean stowed away) the ship to PH.
-
Isn't that just copying what Blackbeard does?
Maybe, but for him it`s special to keep two DFs in his body, so it would just partly explain BB related stuff.
But non the less for creating chaos and going against a yonkou it seems useable and why not getting an explanation for it already.(i guess we all saw Vegapunk for that position) -

Yes, you're right.
So we can pretty much assume that Law got infos about this SAD product when he was on Dofla's crew. I'm starting to believe that this particular product is somehow connected with Devil Fruits on some extent.
I'm not sure about the details yet, but CC possess some kind of tech/knowledge related to Devil Fruits. Man it's really intriguing. -
Does anyone else think its possible (though not likely) that the scene with Sanji's leg showing breaking/cracking could have been a CoO prevision and that it didnt actually happen? maybe even that whole series of panels was from CoO. I have been curious to how Oda would handle this facet of CoO during fights. Does he have to dedicate extra panles to show it off? Are we just supposed to assume its used/not used unless stated otherwise? What seperates instinct/reflex from CoO from a battle perspective?
-

We have verbal confirmation in this arc that Law became a warlord so he could get to the island. No logic you can come up with will change that.

It's unknown who's acquiring these abilities, but it seems to me like this concept is reserved for him.
And yes, Vegapunk is still the most likely source to learn about this stuff from.

If you look at the panel of Luffy foreseeing his arms getting cut off by Mihawk in the war, it's handled totally differently and makes it fairly obvious that it's a vision. This chapter is simply standard panel progression. I don't see any reason to think that Sanji's leg didn't actually break, especially after he had already blocked the kick with his leg in the same position.

hey i was wondering what cc's dialogue in the last panel i second last page is
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/681/18

mangapanda's version says"if you meddle with it,you'll get in trouble too"meaning SAD is a dangerous quantity.this could be why law gave them a 2 hour deadline.
whereas mangastream's version just says that he won't get away with it,meaning cc and/or vergo will retaliate.which one is correct?
-
How did Smoker find the island anyway? Yeah, I know, WG but considering that the island is supposed to be so very off limits wouldn't you like, need special permission to get the means to reach it?

I'd like to know that too! I suspect he means it's dangerous for anyone to mess with, even Law
-
@CCC:
-Vergo came in on a S.A.D. Tanker [ship]
-Law said the only way to escape to the sea while bypassing Shinokuni is through the R-66 gate. We can see from the mini-map that R-block has a very long passageway, presumably leading away from the main island to… a submerged harbor for submarines? A separate, smaller island where ships can dock? Perhaps Vergo came in that way during his first appearance (it was a long, dark, passage).
-The S.A.D. room is in D-block, as the voice on the PA tells us.
-If R-66 is the only way off the island through the lab, then the S.A.D. room does not serve as an exit.
-The S.A.D. room is where S.A.D. is produced. They say that.
-They can't be producing tanker ships in a room that doesn't lead directly to the sea, and the outside world wouldn't be using tankers produced by a mad scientist on an island that everyone assumes is abandoned.
-S.A.D., itself, is not a type of ship. As someone said earlier, it's probably a fuel or chemical of sorts. If Law "became a Shichibukai just to get into that room," and get away with some S.A.D. (as Monet says), it must be the only source of S.A.D. in the world. If it could be obtained in an easier way, he wouldn't have gotten involved with the government or Caesar.
-If S.A.D. is such a rare thing, produced by a single mad scientist, the S.A.D. tanker can't very well be a prevalent and common thing known to the world. Maybe it's only known by underworld brokers and baddies? Maybe the ship itself isn't powered by S.A.D., but simply ships it out to customers?
-Monet, upon understanding Law's intentions, mentions that stealing some S.A.D. and kidnapping Caesar are both integral to the plan. It's not simply a matter of Luffy distracting Caesar so that Law's heart isn't crushed. Caesar must somehow be used in conjunction with S.A.D. in order to produce Law's desired effect.
-The "Caesar + S.A.D." effect is no doubt part of the plan to take down a Yonkou, but will also throw the New World into chaos? Or perhaps Vergo meant that taking down a Yonkou would in itself be what throws the New World into chaos.Sorry. Just a random train of thought.
This sounds pretty good.
@Dan:
I think this chapter really brings some more clarity to the VA picture as well. Vergo, by virtue of being the very first VA to be directly confronted by the SH's, is probably right at the bottom as far as VA power levels are concerned. Still, Sanji, while not outright outclassed, is very likely doomed in a fight against him. Sanji's legs are breaking just from exchanging blows and Vergo no sells his attacks.
At this point i feel it's a relatively safe assumption that Luffy, Law, Smoker and Vergo are all quite close in terms of strength, and some of the other more established VA's like John Giant, Momonga, Strawberry, etc are quite a bit stronger still. The former group are the 'rookies', while the latter is where MHQ would look when they need to promote to full admiral.
You really think so? Wasn´t Luffy hit in the war by some of these VAs you named? If they´d have been at the level you pinpoint them to be, Luffy would be dead by now.
I really think Vergo is a medium to high level VA. -

I don't think he means himself or vergo would retaliate, but rather there are dire consequences for using it, it could go beyond joker and whatever. It may be dangerous technology, perhaps something that was being made before the place shut down. I don't think it's DF related at all though, why would vergo have been riding an S.A.D tanker? a petrolium type substance would make sense, but the way it's playing out doesn't look like vergo or CC are afraid of an economic crisis…
As to which one is correct, i'd say mangastream on this one, makes more sense when you're reading through it.

though will have to wait for a better translation to discuss it further

We dont have enough information to legitimately speculate on what this SAD is.
According to Vergo, whatever Law plans on doing will result in the NW being thrown into chaos again(presumably worse than the effect WB death had). I still cant imagine what this might be. Although the goal seems to be to take out a Yonkou, but Vergo couldnt know about that part of the plan. Damn you Oda.
That last panel. law's expression was "just as planned" epic. Still think he's a dull boring character?
-
How did Smoker find the island anyway? Yeah, I know, WG but considering that the island is supposed to be so very off limits wouldn't you like, need special permission to get the means to reach it?
Please this is Smoker where talking about he can tell the higher-ups to go eat shit and they promote him for it. Mind you this is after he chased after the Strawhats after leaving his appointed station of Loguetown without asking anybody.
You really think he gives a duck if someone in WG doesn't want him going there? -
I think its possible that Monet has either a clay or snow fruit, and that its used in the gas that is covering the island ( the people who didnt make it turnedinto statues. Dont forget that vegapunk used Kizarus fruit and used it for the pacifistas.
About vergo, his fruit? Will it be logia or paramecia? If the sticking to his face isnt just a running gag but a devil fruit it might be a Glue Glue Fruit logia (hardening his body with glue so sanjis leg broke), or maybe a hardening fruit? ( i know that tekkai is the same thing but there are more fruits who are alike ) as in: temperature fruit, fire fruit, magma fruit ( all heat based ). Also Shiki float fruit has the same ability as cp9 geppo.
Any toughts?
-
If nothing else this chapter merely made Ms. Monet even more mysterious (with added alliterative appeal for your amusement)
-
Lets say that SAD is a fuel manufactured on PH and used by marines to traverse the calm belts into the grand line. that would certainly weaken WG power in GL as their access will be solely via reverse mountain then Marjorie or FI into the new world. That would certainly be a logistics nightmare. However why would said facility be under CC's control? why would Dofla be involved? why would WG leave PH unprotected? or have a major battle happen there endangering this facility? All of this leads me to think WG is unaware of whatever SAD is. Which means one or all of the Yonko would be affected since that is they only other way to disrupt the NW. All of the Yonko we met don't strike me as dependent on any technology save for one, Kaido. Whatever SAD is, I bet he is involved along with Dofla. which begs the question what is the nature of Kaido's relationship with dofla and by extension the WG. I always thought of Kaido as a fake Pirate subservient in some way to the WG ever since the great war. But then again he could be using them as dofla is apparently doing. thoughts?
-
One thing strikes me as odd in this whole 'Law needs CC and SAD' concept. If this has been Law's plan for a while now then while it makes perfect sense that he would need to be a shichibukai to get his hands on SAD, it doesn't make sense how CC fits into this plan.
If we go back to the beginning where Law hatches this plan, he would be in a position where he'd have two goals; first obtain SAD and second obtain CC (in any particular order). Whatever SAD is I'm guessing that it has something to do with Vegapunk and the WG so it would make sense for Law to become a Shichibukai to make getting access to either Vegapunk or Punk Hazard easy, therefore allowing him to obtain SAD. But where does CC fit into this? As far as we know CC has been in hiding for the past four years and the WG have no idea that he's been acting on PH. So it strikes me as odd that if CC is key to this plan that Law doesn't seem to have accounted for it, basically Law just turns up a PH looking for SAD and is then like "Woah Caesar Clown! I'm a lucky bugger aren't I! looks like I don't have to bother trying to find this bloke who's evaded the WG for the last four years! Oh how my plan has luckily fallen into place."
This leads me to two separate conclusions:
- SAD is incredibly important to the plan and is irreplacable but CC specifically is less important, CC's role could be fulfilled by a few people because CC's role does not rely on something specific to him ie his gas powers.
- Law found out about CC being on PH from Doflamingo when he was involved with him and hatched this whole plan after this revelation.
personally I think both conclusions are equally plausable but I'm inclined to go with Law starting this plan after an interaction with Doflamingo. Any thoughts?
-
I don't agree with what you have to say, however it doesn't mean it's not plausible.
Kaido is a Emperor and I think he has and wants nothing to do with the WG. I see his attack on WB as a move to take him out on the go, I suppose Kaido is a very strategic and opportunistic kind of individual. Maybe he wanted to attack him because he knew him and the WB pirates would already be emotionally stressed therefore it would work to his advantage.
Dofla is just a man who probably wants the throw the world in a crazy spiral and just sit back and watch. He's a nutcase but a genius one at that for sure.
PH was left unprotected because of it's poisonous gas at the time, no one could settle there. After Aokiji and Akainu had that battle things were already cleared up and the harsh climates that were created were suspected to keep people out on their own I suppose.
Just one thing, If Law betrays the SH's I hope Luffy puts a Red Hawk right through him. I don't like people who double cross it's a huge pet peeve of mine and sure as heck, I'd Red Hawk him. . . twice to be safe.

I have also a theory concerning the S.A.D or rather i read the theory in a german forum and just wanted to see what you guys think about it. Before i write it, i should warn you that i have no knowledge of physics whatsoever. If that really is important concerning OP is questionable though:
We already know that the magnetic fields in the NW are even more fucked up than in the Paradise. Generally you can judge the potential of danger of an island with the movement of the Log Pose. Sometimes the magnet field of an island even disappears, that is why the Log Pose for the NW has 3 needles, you can always reach an island with 3 needles. So basically, the unpredictable magnetic fields make the NW an extremely dangerous place (well, besides the Yonkou etc,). We also know at this point that there are certain S.A.D. tankers which were used by Vergo to reach PH. The thing is though, Punk Hazard should not have a magnetic field anymore, so how was he able to reach PH?! That is where the S.A.D. comes to play. The S.A.D. material or whatever it is somehow has the power to shift, erase and create magnetic fields. With that, you can pretty much have a safe trip, at least concerning magnetic fields, and at the same time screw over many others. So, Law´s plan could entail among others the deletion of the magnetic fields and thus messing up the entire New World like Vergo said.
-
I'm sorry if I say this, I didn't read all of your posts before posting this, but I do believe too that Monet has some kind of snow paramecia, perhaps even logia.
How else can 2 BIG @SS giants hide in snow? I don't know, maybe they're really tricky, I don't know if it was ever explained how, but it makes more sense that Monet helped them doing it, thoughts?

i rely love how oda draws action the panel work the angels the details the crative attacks and fast paset no long diloges that take entire chapter to explain an attack
oda is the best at drowing action in chonen jump right naw

your Knowledge of physics has no bearing on this discussion at all this is manga physics not really scientific anyone can make it up :). as to theory it's very plausible it might explain why PH has no magnetic field and how you can reach it. destroying the facility might make PH pop up on everyone's radar so to speak. could have the island swimming in pirates and marines.

Cool theory, it sounds plausible but I want to point out something:
- I don't find CC's inclusion on that theory. Or, to be precise, how CC interacts with this? Law needs CC to accomplish his plan, but if this S.A.D. is some sort of machine Law could use it with or without CC.
-The tanker could use the same method to reach the island like the Marines, though we don't know it yet.
-Nami said that magnetic fields can disappear from an island after a cataclismic event: This particular event was the fight between Akainu and Aokyji.

-The tanker could use the same method to reach the island like the Marines, though we don't know it yet.
-Nami said that magnetic fields can disappear from an island after a cataclismic event: This particular event was the fight between Akainu and Aokyji.
It could be that CC and Vegapunk are the only ones who know how to use/activate or whatever the S.A.D. . We know that until 4 years ago Vegapunk was the leader of the lab and CC was second in command. They could have come up with an idea to hide or erase Ph´s magnetic field in order to keep the facility hidden (the position right at the beginning of the NW is rather inconvenient). After the accident 4 years ago Vegapunk could have come up with a way to use this S.A.D. for tankers to ensure a safe voyage.

I think that's probably the best theory I've heard so far. I assumed there were still eternal poses for the island, or something similar, but that's based on really nothing at all except convenience. An emperor's strength could be totally fractured if their crew had no way to reassemble. It's true that it doesn't really address Ceasar's part in all of this, but it's a very interesting starting point. It could also explain why Punk Hazard is so hard to find.
And yeah, Oda doesn't seem to really know his physics either, so that's hardly a concern. Comic books live by a different set of rules.

I think it's assumed that the island was chosen for research intially because it can't be logged. That would be well before the admirals had their duel.
