So it's basically confirmed that hxh is returning in december? Let's all look forward to our 10-20 chapters fix and then wait for a couple of years again, hurray.

Huh. Didn't see this one coming.

Seems like HxH hiatus ends in december, if someone can confirm..HAHAHAHAHAH I JUST asked if anyone was willing to bet if the hiatus ending announcement would come before the end of the year. And I lacked faith, and said it wouldn't happen. Man….. Why didn't I exert more faith? Togashi will never abandon us :)

Last time was 30 chapters. I would love it if this were another 30 chapter session. 20 sounds like the safe guess though
Predictions:
- Haven't read those last 30 chapters since they released, so my knowledge of recent events is rusty
- Leorio, Kurapica, and Killua will be teaming up for something. Kurapica is not as far gone as we think
- Gon will not be with the main 4, he'll be working on something though with other supporting characters we know and some new ones
- We will see Kururo and get screen time of all the spiders together
- Won't see Gyro, but more foreshadowing of him
@Toraish:
I'm rooting for another 200. Careless optimism, a-hoy!

Anyone think that this is going to be the last arc?
-
Anyone think that this is going to be the last arc?
Dark Continent's premise we were given in the last 30 chapters seems like an end-game arc. Though for it to be the final arc it will have to encompass a lot of Spider Troupe stuff (Kururo's return has been teased for a long time, he clearly has a role to play in the story), and give Gyro's story attention on top of the Dark Continent/Beyond Netero stuff. Maybe Gyro's story is directly related to the Dark Continent?
-
Yeah, I think he could fit all the loose ends and tie them up in this arc if he wanted.
-
Maybe in keeping with Togashi's defying of expectations, maybe the last arc will be the shortest arc in the series. Like, everyone gets immediately killed upon entering the dark continent.
-
That would be quite unexpected and hilarious indeed.
-
My reaction to this news is on indefinite hiatus
-
Part of me hopes the new chapters are a few year time skip.
-
Togashi said that he have 4/5 stories he wants to write before ending his manga, so i think it's safe to say that we still have 4/5 arcs… Anyway until the news is confirmed i will go reread what happened after Meruem's death (election arc)
PS yeah i hope we will get a timeskip with Gon more mature.
-

We will get a super in-depth (with lots of internal monologue) fight between a side-character that Gon will meet mid-arc and an underling of an underling of a villain. I don't know, a super evolved walking molusc vs a bald rat with a missing arm, or something like that. It will go on for 3 or 4 chapters.
Then, Gon will face said villain, mid fight we'll have a fade to black, and then we'll switch to Leorio and Killua waking up Gon. He was knocked out while fighting the villain, 5 days have passed and everything is already solved. They'll vaguely explain what happened to Gon.
Then we'll get an in-depth chapter about the new life that the evolved walking molusc will lead from now on, full of internal monologue too, of course.
And Kuroro and Kurapika never meet each other cause Kuroro, after finally getting his nen back, will die of cancer. Or aids.
It all sounds anticlimactic, but it's not. You know what it is? "it's a deconstruction of the Shonen genre and it's tropes and cliches!". And fans will love it.

I like the cut of your jib
Also, I finally used the phrase "cut of your jib"
-
Wait is Togashi coming out of rehab?
-
Wait Togashi is real?
Seriously though I refuse to believe it until I get to read the new chapter. Also yes he is on December. -

I had to search that phrase. It seems it's nothing evil. So, thanks!
-
Guess he read the news that Muira was coming out with a 6 chapter mini-series after and figured that was his cue to do some scribbles.
hard to get excited knowing it'll go back on hiatus after 20 chapters.
So optimistic.
I only hope for 10.

LOL, yeah sorry.
It just means I like your style.

This is one of the best posts I've ever read on this forum.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh and Hunter's back. Woohoo. I wonder what poorly drawn anticlimax Togashi will come up with next?
-
But only slightly. The honking is just below the frequency of an angry driver late to their meeting.
I… don't feel as excited about this as I think I should! This news feels bittersweet, 'cause I know the next supply cutoff is coming in the near future.
-
I want to get excited that Togashi's finally coming back but the fact that the series will probably be in hiatus again worries me. I prefer watching the anime only (it's more exciting than reading scribbles :/), and if it means more episodes, even just a couple, then I'm fine with that.
-
Maybe he started up again because the Ant arc is about halfway done? He can still milk some money if he write a few more chapters post-election arc.
-
Part of me hopes the new chapters are a few year time skip.
I agree… A little bit of a time-skip would probably do us some good all things considered...
-
Time skips are cliche
Looks like we're right on schedule with the usual suspects raining on the parade. As per usual. Piss, moan, and belittle Togashi during hiatus, piss, moan, and belittle Togashi when he's working.
Glad I have a life outside of complaining about things I don't like :)

Excuse us for wanting a regular schedule of release that shows an actual amount of effort by Togashi in creating the product.

If his hiatuses would follow a predictable pattern, we'd have an easier time with it,
If he worked January-March every year to produce 10 chapters, then took the rest of the year off, fine. If he went monthly and had one chapter every 4 issues, fine.
Its that the number of chapters he produces, followed by the ammount of break time, and the art quality, vary wildly at random with no apparent rhyme or reason.
Predictability and consistency is all we really ask for.
Is it our fault if after 7 or 8 bouts of this over the years we can no longer believe he'll do more than 10 or 20 before taking another undefined break? That its near impossible to get excited and ope for more, or believe that he can tell a reasonable ammount of story before stopping mid-stream again? That believing in any momentum and getting caught up in it is just a bad idea?
-
By now any hope I have is somewhat hampered by the fear that all we're getting is future disappointment. All power to the dude if he wants to prove me wrong since the series is great, but at this point, I'm not even sure what his actual commitment to the series is.

Ironically, you're the only person complaining on this page (i'm not complaining, just pointing out that you're complaining, i have no problem with the hypocrisy). Plus, I'm sure Togashi complains just as much as us whenever a year goes by without a new numbered Dragon Quest game.

I don't really care if they are cliche. He takes enough time off that a skip foward might be refreshing. Gon and Killua at least past age 12-13? Leorio out of med school. Killua finding a safe place for his sibling.Kurapika being a tad less crazed looking. Them all finding a way to adventure together again. If the last chapter hadn't felt so series finale I would not have thought it would benefit. Kinda like the dragonball to z. Not saying it needs to be entirely different. But picking up the story again right where it left off will feel weird to me.
-
Also it would give a good opportunity for Gyro to finish planning/doing whatever he is planning on doing as a set up for whatever happens later.
-
Time skips are cliche
So?
There's nothing wrong with a cliche, it all depends on the author and how he can pull it off, Togashi is a gifted Mangka and he proved it. and if he chose that route he'll do it in an amazing way. -
Not enough gungi.
Needs more.
-
@NER:

-
I read the news and it has me super excited! I'm really glad to see that Hunter x Hunter will return even if it's for only 10 chapters as long as we start getting somewhere in the DC arc.
A timeskip IMO would be really awesome and the Dark Continent arc seems to be the best place to do one. Yu Yu Hakusho had a few (even though each were only a few months aside the final one which was a 2 year later finale) and he pulled them off well there using the time to not only have a way to build up the characters stregnth's but set up mystery's pertaining to their training methods that were slowly answered in the arc (he did this before as well in the minor TS from Heaven's Arena to York New with him hiding how Kurapika got so powerful in such a small amount of time before it was revealed later in the arc to have had several conditions to it). Anyways I really hope he does a time skip and I can't wait to see if it will happen or not.
(Not to mention it will make things easier on Madhouse and they can end the anime at chapter 339 and come back a few years later with Hunter x Hunter Z when they have a couple more 100 chapters in the can lol)
-
I'm not big on the idea of a timeskip happening, I like Gon the way he is now, I don't want there to be a timeskip and suddenly Gon is more mature. What I do hope is that Togashi puts those new characters that he introduced in his last chapter to good use and doesn't just throw them to one side immediately.
-
I'm still not sure about the whole dark continent theme, it's not like we don't have enough interesting stuff to see in the regular world, HxH doesn't need the new world, gourmet world or whatever
hell, the last arc was one of my favorites, mainly because it was centered on the election process in the human world, wouldn't have minded if we stuck to hunter organization dealings for a while. But I shouldn't be that negative, at least Pariston is going there, so that's already a good sign (with a bunch of chimera ant eggs that he wants to take there or use in the regular world?) -
So it seems that the return leak info was not from Jump.
-
so do we know if this was true or not?

We don't know that yet, there is still some hope. You gotta BELIEVE IT. xD

It's not. Time skips have been a part of great literature for over a thousand years. Beowulf has a timeskip, The Oddyssey has 2, Dr. Faustus has one. They're fun!

no, you're right, they can be fun. it's just they give freedom to mangaka to recycle old character designs too much.
-
Ok, is that considered news?
-
It's somehow fitting that Togashi's manga can't even get reliable leaks.
-
So…it wasn't true?
-
ANN's news sources are basically just these threads. Like the ones on here and on MH or on 2ch where people announce it. These are leaks.
It's possible it's from Newtype or some other magazine. Apparently one of the HXH movies are first mentioned in one of those. -
It still can turn out to be true. For example, the leak could have come from another magazine.
Just don't hold your breath because you aren't unlocking Perfect Plan any time soon.

At least there was no timeskip in that scene, so…
