@Thousand:
The Ant arc was NOT good by any stretch of the imagination. It had a pretty strong first half but after they got in the palace, it started to fall apart.
I literally regged just to say how retarded this statement is.
Sounds like a personal butthurt problem.
The problem was that Togashi…just clearly stopped caring. Just every single exciting plot point deflated into anticlimax after anticlimax.
You call them anti-climaxes, we call them not being a generic shonen and resolving the STORY in ways other than the usual formulaic fights. And they existed in pretty much every arc.
Excessively focusing on Ant side-characters like we gave a shit (stop kidding yourself, like you really cared about shrimp guy or wolf guy or that ant girl from a hundred chapters back, did we really need to waste a chapter to know she got home?.
And you stop kidding yourself. You loved the arc. Do you see how stupid you sound?
Focusing on side-characters is another thing HxH does well.
Forcing the whole humans are just as bad as the Ants theme which was clearly never the initial intention but hamfisted mid-arc because of how simple and easy the theme was. Really? He expected us to feel sorry for the murderous monsters that killed hundreds of thousands of people and wrapped them up into meat balls to scorf on? The guys who were slaughtering children without a second thought? He really wanted to make the point that WE were the monsters to the point that he dedicated an entire chapter (one of the worst of the arc btw) on how we're inherently evil garbage that deserves to be wiped out? Because we drink champagne sometimes? lol Not to mention it made Knuckle look like a totally incompetent coward. It's bad enough he couldn't prioritize the mission over the lives of his friends but not even over his own ego and then he started to respect the ants? The guy was supposed to be a seasoned hunter right? Fucking Gon and Killua were more competent than him.
forced? Prove it was never the intention? So humans in the HxH world were all good guys from fairy tail or one piece doing good deeds and all that? They ARE worse, the panels which you failed to understand describe it best. You are obviously just in denial and trying to convince yourself something and forcing others to believe it as well.
All the villains dying in the most anticlimactic of ways, the King included even if he got a chapter dedicated to him (you know, the chapter with like seven pages of nothing but black boxes). Yupi having Pot Clean taken off is one of the worst plot twists I've ever read. People like to go on how about it's an awesome twist because it's so unexpected. Well no shit I didn't expect that to happen, I didn't expect Togashi to render like two to three volumes totally pointless. Not to mention it assassinated Knuckles character. And for what? He was killed anticlimactically by the virus a few chapters later. Any "character development" of him starting to respect humans (which came completely out of nowhere and was totally forced on the character) amounted to nothing. Really the whole the bomb had a virus thing while not exactly a deus ex just reeks of plot convenience, like Togashi said fuck it, I'm tired of this shit, a virus kills them all off!
And now we made it clear you're one of those shonen fans. A deus ex would have Gon/Ging/Netero power up and obtain a "mode" throughout the story and beat him fair and square then proceed to use it on other villains, it also goes into the whole "humans are dicks" situation.
Tons and tons of meaningless thought bubbles. Fucking show don't tell.
You're the last person to whine about those since you lack reading comprehension skills…or wait is that exactly why you should whine? I'm not sure...point is don't complain about what you don't get (or get wrong)
Many pages excessively wasted on boxes or a mother suckling a babe when a single panel would have sufficed to carry the point across.
Sigh…
Entire chapters wasted for stupid shit like a mother suckling a babe.
didn't you say that already? Sigh anyway…
Gon's character development being retroactively ruined with one chapter that revealed that Kaito was alive all along. The chapter where they met again was by far the worst chapter of HunterxHunter…ever with a koala giving the laziest, most hackneyed exposition on the meaning of life that I had ever seen in a manga and the entire reunion of Gon and Kaito amounting to nothing but "S'up, sorry about you almost dying". Yeah, glad to see that all that emotional turmoil and drama amounted to something.
The theme of the arc was reincarnation, Kaito being alive is no big surprise…at least not to us, brain-users.
Yeah, bad arc is bad. I really don't know why people like it. People praise it because… a lot of cool shit happened? But really, the only cool shit that actually mattered in the end was Netero vs the King. Everything else just deflated. Also people like to praise it for Jairo and all the interesting, potential things that MIGHT happen? Forgive me for not getting excited for potential characters and events that I know nothing about (really the whole excitement for Jairo comes off as forced hype to me, like people want to get excited for him just for the sake of being excited rather than genuine interest in the character), characters and events that take five times the normal time of any manga before it actually reaches them and, if the Ant arc and the Election arc after it are any indication, will probably be resolved with another anticlimax in the end.
Because it had good writing + "cool shit"
In many manga these don't go hand-in-hand…Togashi made it work.
In the end all your bitching comes down to either you not understanding, you simply preferring simple-minded shonen story-telling or just whining for the hell of it. And then you're trying to force people into saying it's bad.
Toto y moi's posts explain it better than most for anyone who's interested.

@Nobodyman:
No, but it may translate into not being able to finish the manga, regardless of how much he cares about it.
Well, I hope you'll forgive if my faith has waned a bit in the guy who'd rather play Dragon Quest than do his fucking job.
If you don't agree with Thousand Lion most of the time, that's fine. But he at least is having the decency to engage in an adequate argument, using evidence to back up his claims. And you (and other people) could have the decency to not immediately dismiss his arguments just because you think he's wrong about everything.
Fantasy world or not, I did think the consciousness-transferred-into-Chimera-Ants plot point seemed kinda contrived and convenient.
Again that's how the Ants were made, the next gen takes from the older gen, memories included. And depending on how much they've taken from the previous gen, they become either 100% ants or 100% humans but most likely somewhere in between.
Franky from OP was "revived" because of cyborgs who were pulled out of an Elbaf ass… but that's the world they built.
Togashi doesn't have a modicum of understanding of these philosophical issues.
And you do. So explain how it's wrong? How all humans are goody-too-shoes? Or did you think it's implying all humans are evil….Sigh x3.
You really just hate HxH don't you
