so your point is that most 2012 and 2013 posters are reading op weekly for 7-8 years?
Now you're taking out the subject. I started reading the manga just after Thriller Bark. When Duval showed up. I swore he was Don Krieg.
-
Yea they have the obligation to be there IF they are being paid to do so. We are not paying Oda for his manga, therefore he has no obligation to provide us with his services.
The battle cry of Generation MEMEMENOWNOWNOW.
The public has no idea just how close One Piece came to having an entire year off once.

Was it the time that oda got married + honeymoon? I think it was around ch 520 or something which lasted a few months or so (hmm or maybe it was a different ocassion).

@The:
If Oda dies on me I'm going to kill him.
Reminds me of when the giant earthquake (RIP) hit 2 years ago and everyone was scrambling to see if Oda was still alive…
You know I wonder why no one gives Garp any flak for been the father of the most wanted man in the op world. Everyone is usually"wah there's garp the hero'" and not"meh there's the father of that dragon guy, why is he still in the marines roaming free." Perhaps they do have occasional confrontations where Garp looks genuinely interested in capturing his sonm.
-Garp "caught" Roger.
-Garp is a living morale booster for every marine; "Aw man this day sucks… fuck life, fuck the marines, fuck every single thi-- HOLY SHIT ITS GARP THE HERO!!! TOTALLY GETTING A PIC WITH HIM AND POSTING IT ON (OP Social Media outlet)!! EVERYONE GONNA BE JELLY!! BEST DAY EVER!!! MARINES BITCHES!!!"
-The Marines didn't blame Garp for raising Ace who, by virtue of his parentage, would be worse than Dragon.
-The Marines can't force Garp to do anything because he's stronger than most of them and could pretty much take any of them on in a fight 1v1. He also has no DF, thereby making him that much more of a bad ass.
-The Marines know Garp's loyalty lies with them and he would never betray their "justice" - even if he's not a fanatic like Akainu.Oda can quit writing One Piece right now if he wanted to. He has all the money in the world he could do it tonight. He has no obligation to us, seeing how ppl can just read One Piece for free but he wants to entertain us as readers like a good mangaka should.
True, but he would have a hefty fine for breaking his contract. Jump could even, technically, pursue litigation because he's such a cash cow - but we know they wouldn't ala Hiatus x Hiatus.

Hello everyone i'm new, i registered on this forum cause i love one piece and i want to share my thoughts, even if it might not please everyone, to the possible extend of being called a troll. I do not care in the name of freedom, who can also be compared to the survival of the tiniest chance of possibility against the supremacy of a huge evidence.
I could say how much i loved the chapter and detail every mysterious subjects of the story that's going on but it's already been done. I read all the posts of every single person. So i know the question about Fujitora, the new admiral, being the blind guy has been closed. The main argument were that he is looking anormaly like the the famous actor Shintaro Katsu who was recognized mostly by playing the fiction character Zatoichi. Plus, all Admirals yet seems to been compared to well known actors, the link being Fujitora, the blind man, the new Admiral. The other major point was that in japanese culture the gravity is represented by the purple color, which the same old man has been seen using a weird power getting close of what people think would be the gravity itself, because one of the attacked man was seen getting crushed to the ground while saying " heavy". I hope i resumed the case correctly, cause i just went with what i could remember. All people sharing those thoughts could be referred by those who feel that the blind old man is the new admiral Fujitora, due to the huge evidence.
Here my thoughts start's, in the place where those who feel that the blind man is not Fujitora, in link with the tiniest chance of possibility that still exist.
Did you know the story of the yellow man who was always eating bananas? One day he saw a green apple and took it, smelt it to finaly eat it. the next day, the man became colored with green and yellow, end. Well i'm not very good at telling stories but my whole idea was behind it, which i will explain.
I think Oda, the mangaka of One Piece, obviously chose to represent the famous Zatoichi. But where i differ from all the Fujitora passion is in his intentions towards it. I personaly think Oda didn't choose to represent the actor Shintaro Katsu but the caracter itself Zatoichi which brings alot of different interpretations. I read on Zatoichi, the hero, and i can not see him joining side with the government since he is represented to be a person alone wandering around the japan country. That was my principal argument to rise a bite the odds. On my personal feelings, i do not think the old man character fits for the world government but will have better chances to be attributed as an old famous bounty hunter or an older member from some famous crew in the roger era, mostly because of Zatoichi character is discribed as a lone wolf.
Thats all i had to say for the moment and im sorry if my english is not the best it's not my native langage and im kind of a lazy person but i really love one piece.^^

Seriously?
It takes Oda a full week to draw one chapter and in doing that, he barely has the chance to sleep. It's not like just anyone can draw One Piece. If that was the case, it wouldn't nearly be as special as it is. There is no backup guy.
Are you kidding me? It's black and white manga not the mona lisa. There are literally tens of millions of people who can easily draw it. and frankly it would be ridiculous if only one person is in charge of drawing it with no backups
Did you want a Togashi-tier chapter? That's what you'd get with 10mins.
I have no idea who Togashi is and I don't care. 10 minutes is more then enough to get the general outline(frankly it should have been planned for weeks ahead) and it doesn't take that much to refine the dialogue. It's just silly that one man should stop the whole production
i was curious whether you were trolling or you are actually just unthinkably dumb.then i found this:
there is no doubt in my mind now.
i think that you don't set a a good reputation for "anime-only people".let me dumb it down it for you.a manga is generally made by only one person.this is not dumberica.so,you see everything you have watched on one piece has been made by one person.there are not teams of people who work on the "show"(i use show,as you may be under the false impression that anime is the main media of one piece.edit:lol, coudn't resist.guys, the same genius who wrote this uses filler episodes for arguments.seriously,no one should quote him now!
when someone said that nami's dream of making a map was not shown much, here's his/her response:Wow. Are you a child perhaps? You are way way too invested this. And dumberica? Is this your attempt at trying to sound rebellious and cool? Because let me clear you up on something that you might find useful for when you grow up. What is dumb is running a business where everything grinds to a halt and you lose potential profits just because one person is down temporarily. It's even dumber when this is utterly unnecessary and you can easily have a backup. It may not sound "cool" but that's how the real world works. The fact that One Piece is running a flawed business model is not really something you should be fawning over. Even if they are japanese and oh so cool.
-
I'll put it in simple terms you might understand.
Imagine a solo artist, any really but I'm just going to use Justin Beiber for shits and giggles.
Beiber is on tour, he gets sick for a week and has to cancel part if not all of the tour due to illness. I mean there are literally tens of million of people out there that could easily replace him on stage, but they don't. I guess every professional solo artist is running a flawed business model.
-
togashi….the author of yuyu hakushu who became a lazy-ass in the last chapters of his series, almost doodles and no backgrounds....am i right to assume he even hurried the final arc just to finish the series,...coz it seemed that it was cut abruptly when i read it.
the series was fucking gold until the sensui arc.

I'm not kidding you. Weekly running manga series are incredibly difficult to draw. It's fairly well documented that it's a stressful job that requires a lot of time and hard work to do. There's a lot more to it than scribbling a few pictures on a page. Bakuman does a good job of documenting the exact process, but suffice it to say, it's fairly extensive. Oda does use assistants, like most manga artists do, but he is the artist and author of the work and the manga doesn't get done if he's not around to do it. It's probably not the best way of doing things, but it is the way things are done. He's the one that's come up with all the ideas, character designs, and story, and judging from the amount of sales, people like what he's done. Having someone else draw it isn't as easy as you're making it out to be - if it was, there would be less failing series in WSJ and the difference between One Piece's sales and every other manga in Japan wouldn't be so disparate.
-
Not to be a jerk, but it is mind boggling to me that people, who apparently care enough about a series to join/contribute to a forum dedicated to said series, are complaining about and questioning the character of the creator because a chapter was delayed 1 week. Seriously?! For starters, I would wager to guess that at least of few of you complaining read One Piece without contributing to the series in anyway. Next, Oda has literally been busting his ass for 15 years, putting forth tremendous effort and care that many of his peers do not come close to matching. Yes, he has attained great wealth for his efforts, but that's the nature of capitalism, and I would wager that he would still be working just as hard for some no name series. Everyone is well within their rights to be upset about not having a chapter this week, I was personally really let down, but the comments of some on this forum are both sad and pathetic. If you're that upset about it, drop the series and leave, no one will miss you.

i worked on a comic syndicate and i write and published weekly comics before here in our country as well. i tell you: being a comic strip artist/mangaka is NOT an easy job. and drawing anime characters EVERY WEEK is draining. even though you love drawing, there will come a time it will burn you out sometimes.
and its funny someone compared manga to monalisa since the painter can take a break whenever and its a one time work, but a manga needs to produce every week not to mention he gets audience's heat whenever he takes a time-off.

…I knew there was a reason I don't read this forum when there's a break.
Anyway, the way I see it, I do pay to read One Piece. I have a WSJ-online subscription. But that only cost me twenty five dollars for a full year. Which means that even with all the breaks, sickdays and vacations, I'm still getting my One Piece chapters for about fifty cents a pop. And really, Oda doesn't see probably even a notable fraction of my fifty cents, considering the extra manpower to translate, code and whatever else for the American WSJ-online service, before it even gets divided further among the authors. So, considering I'm probably paying Oda all of two-cents per chapter? One that he outlined. Scripted. Story-boarded. Drafted (probably several times). Arranged the panels. Drew. He's also supervising his staff doing backgrounds and inking. All while doing touch ups on stuff we won't see for weeks to come, if ever (his editors are always telling him to trim things down because he wants to include so much) AND fleshing out the plot and setting for things that we won't see for several half-decades?
The man deserves a sick-day. He deserves a sick-week.
He deserves twelve. He deserves as many as it takes to get better.
The only reason I'd complain is if he cancels his series because of his health, because that's the only reason I subscribed to American-WSJ.
But that's just my two cents.

I hope momonosuke gets a fight this arc

i wish oda would use story of "the wizard of oz" for the next OP's adventure theme

You do realize just how bad your example is right? On several levels. For one thing Oda can easily be replaced by someone temporary. Especially if he is smart and has already outlined the storyline for the series(as every one should). Drawing especially manga is really not that that difficult. He can easily have ten guys working underneath him ready to jump in at any moment. Secondly do you think pop stars some how magically do everything? They have entire huge crews. People who write their songs, play their music, do their make up, choreograph theri dances and a gazzilion more things.
So yeah. Oda not having a staff who can take over for him(under his guidance of course) in case of emergencies is not only a flawed business model but also sloppy and irresponsible. I expected better from himI'm not kidding you. Weekly running manga series are incredibly difficult to draw. Just because this is how things are done doesn't mean it should be so. Following tradition blindly is stupid. Of course it may not be easy. But Oda had a LOT of time to train people for the job and not doing is as I mentioned simply irresponsible and sloppy. That's a fact and I seriously don't understand why fanboys are going into hysterics when someone acknowledges this fact

i used
dumbamerica as an example because there in almost all media there are generally teams of people working on a particular franchise, and even that is not necessarily true.do you think that authors can be replaced in books?are you telling me that a harry potter,or any book of a popular franchise can be just produced by someone other than the original author?even if supposing someone other than the original artist wrote that book,it won't be half as good as the normal product.for example,i doubt any harry potter book not written by rowling would be half as popular(or half as good) than one written by her.
same is with comics manga.even some western comics have only 2-3 persons working on them, and they cannot be replaced,as it is their product.they own it.more so in mangas.
book, comics are different from the television and movies.corporations don't own and design things, people do.it's oda's manga, not sheiusha's.and he can't be replaced for the same reason J.K. Rowling can't be replaced,or robert kirkman can't be replaced.
and yes, singers have lots of supporting crew, but do you think that any of the actual singing can be done by anyone other than the main singer/band?
and i'm not even gonna argue with you that a single manga chapter cannot be drawn in 10 minutes.this is not fantasy world.good comics can't be drawn in 10 minutes.are you some kind of acclaimed artist that you know the intricacies of sketching?
seriously,go watch the anime on streaming sites.just go.manga is just the draft for anime, after all.that dumb oda does not even include the awesome filler arcs in the manga.and the art is obviously so much better in the anime .edit:
-
No,doing a manga chapter is not something accomplished by scribbling for 10 minutes. Not only will that kind of effort barely lend you even this
but that's only as far as drawings are concerned, for there's also lots of shit to be done besides just drawing the goddamn thing.Stuff Beowulf outlined in his/her post.
That's not counting all the extra work he has to do besides the chapters.Like doing designs for the anime only stuff, doing fan requests(he even drew us,Arlong Park,an omake),colorspreads and all that other shit.
He doesn't have "lots of time" to "train" anybody.Plus the sentiment itself is nonsense,I don't want anybody else writing One Piece but Oda.

It isn't really irresponsible in any way. In the whole 15 years Oda's been writing One Piece, this is one of like two times a chapter's been delayed due to his illness. It really doesn't come up that often and when it does, it has more to do with the timing of everything than anything. One Piece is also Oda's baby - it's the one big work he'll do in his life time, after all - and just like an author of a novel series wouldn't be expected to have trained someone to take over in case they get ill, the same's the case with a weekly manga series. WSJ lets authors take breaks anyway and I sincerely doubt that the magazine sells significantly less when One Piece is off. And nobody's really gone in to "hysterics" here, so I'm unsure where that portion of your post comes from.

LOLWUT is all this I'm reading…..the man got sick, and had to halt his work. IS he not deserving of such a break. Oda is a human being after all. I don't see how people can be THIS impatient. I'll wait as long as it takes for Oda to recover, and hope he recovers well.

Did he escape his cell in Level 6? Or did he simply sail to the seas again under a different flag and name? -
Is there a reason we can't talk about "him"? He's just a troll…
Dunno, it was some mod getting crazy and threatening.

I remember someone vaguely made the allusion about the weird little girl on Doflamingo side being the factory or something. Well i want to say that i support this idea. I think there is no real factory since Law or Law's crew more couldn't find it. The " Factory " must be a devil fruit user, which i think would be the little girl. So in that case, would the straw hats kill the devil fruit user to stop the production or what would they do?
I also think the citizen could be on sort of hypnose(another devil fruit user maybe) because the doll soldier recognised Luffy before they got their disguises on and he didn't react at all, even though he was in the news paper. ( by the way this is my second post ever the first one was ignored (for those who care lawl))
