Have fun with it, i watched it as if to have a laugh but the wording in it is interesting.
Hopefully we might get a discussion going and like i said have fun with it.
"western propaganda" according to North Korea
-
-
OOOOOOH Very interesting topic!! Can't wait to read people's thought's and feelings on this one
-
Filthy american imperialist monkey dogs and their SURVIVORs and BILL CLINTONs
-
Typical communist bullshit.
I stop taking people seriously when they think 9/11 was an inside job.
-
I'm only five minutes in, but isn't all of this basically true?
Maybe I just need to get to the part where it's North Korean propaganda, LOL.
-
The only thing I agree with is the part about religion.
-
Well, as far as I can tell, this is just a normal Michael Moore documentary.
-
We used to be taught about the genocides that happened in the world, and as i am living in an arab country we are taught about the "sympathy for the jews" and how they are allowed to do what ever they like nowadays like invade Palestine because they had a hard time with the Nazi's.
-
I guess I'm some kind of ubermensche to not have ever been taken in by the Iraq war by watching news when I was an idiot teenager lol.
Hint: It's not really propaganda when it exists in a pluralistic post-modern society with legal multiple voices and active varying levels of press and assembly.

I definitely think knee jerk American feelings toward Israel are kind of in line with that.
Like really clueless people we're talking here. "WE HELPED THOSE GUYS IN WW2, IS SOMEONE ELSE BEING MEAN, FUCK THEM."
Mix that in with post-9/11 islamophobia/arabphobia and it was never going to be a fair fight in our society for the Palestinians lol.
Plus you have those idiots who see that Israel is a democracy and has a good economy and equates that with making them more worthy of support as a people, as if Arabs just love weak economies and dictators or something. Plus these same idiots are always saying "ISRAEL IS THE ONLY REAL DEMOCRACY IN THE MIDDLE EAST" which it is most certainly fucking not.Though there's probably just as much "Both of them are crazy people endlessly killing eachother".
And I do honestly think something is really steadily changing policy wise, as long as the Republicans can be kept away from our FP anyway. -

On the one hand that is a stupid generalisation, but on the other I do feel lots of people shy away from criticising Izrael when it has done things worthy of critique as any nation not run by Space Robots.
Of course it's when you have an arabic country who'se primary school text books says Jews and Christians are "Swine" as quantifiable fact when I get peeved off. Or whenever I look up news that happen in the Maldives, which is turning into the most beautiful tourist resort of a fundamentalist dictatorship I've ever seen.
-
Israel discussions get mad awkward as hell down here in Long Island.
-
It's even more awkward when you say you're against Zionism and fail to notice the Jewish guy sitting right next to you.
-
@Foxy:

Lots of Jews both secular and (oddly) hardcore fundamentalist are against Zionism though.
To be honest though, Zionism is basically just Jewish nationalism. Which didn't HAVE to involve nonsensical irredentism of a largely already populated by other peoples region.
-
This is kind of unrelated,
but why do most Americans believe that Hitler was a communist? -
Early Zionism was apparently really secular back in the day, and had sights set on turning one of the outskirt oblasts of Russia into the Jewish state.
-
Before we get sidetracked (yes I am not one to talk) I was just wondering if someone can give us the cliffnotes version of the movie in question, as in what it says and how it is wrong ?
-
This documentary got some jokes, like how it rips omn katie Price. " No matter how much research i put in, it seems clear that she doesn't actually do anything.
Plus this is my first time learning about this show called the Swan. It is sick and i can't believe something like that is on air -
This is kind of unrelated,
but why do most Americans believe that Hitler was a communist?American word play propaganda. Communism and socialism had their meanings changed by the conservatives to be associated with anything evil, like Hitler.
About that video, why is it that Asian countries like to label Americans as violent loving psychopaths? Its not just N Korea either, everywhere I go like China, Singapore, or even India there are students in class cheering on to kill all Americans.
And the blind nationalism in asian countries really irks me too. I remember getting canned for not remembering the Singapore National Anthem but nobody in the US cares if you mess up the star spangled banner.
-

Yeah the swan was probably one of the worst things to ever grace the airways

All hail, Dear Leader!

I guess I haven't met one of those Americans yet, because most Americans I've met know he was a fascist and not a communist.

Dude I've met people who don't even know who Hitler is. Don't even ask me to go further.
-

Then the people in your area must be dumb, no offense. lol
Seriously though. Most people in the region I live know who Hitler is, and that he was a fascist.
-

Lol. Most students in India would give an arm and a leg to be American (even thought they may hate to admit it).
-

Borat got booed at a rodeo full of rednecks for doing it, but that's about it lol.
-
Didn't he almost get shot after that. Or was that just a rumor
-
American word play propaganda. Communism and socialism had their meanings changed by the conservatives to be associated with anything evil, like Hitler.
We were the spearhead/leader of the Western bloc during the Cold War, so as a side effect of having the extreme left be our demon for a good fourty straight years is a lot of stupid guilt by association, paranoia etc toward left politics of any kind. And plenty of right wing politicians who took advantage of it.
-
Rosanne Bar wasa probably pretty close to getting bludgened to death.
-
@wolfwoof:
Didn't he almost get shot after that. Or was that just a rumor
I doubt that very highly lol.
-
@Monkey:
I doubt that very highly lol.
Yeah probably. But it's the kind of thing you kinda sorta belive would be possible in the US lol
Suppose it grew out of that old step onto the wrong persons property and you'll be shot thing you tend to associate with America
-

That's a Southern thing.

Lol true, and beyonce gets crap about lip syncing it but they would never get silenced or threatned by the government for stuff like that.

That Beyonce thing was only ever tabloid celebrity news people getting material, not a patriotic uproar.
-
Dude I've met people who don't even know who Hitler is. Don't even ask me to go further.
LOL, this reminds me of a girl I knew in middle school, who literally asked "What's a Hitler?"
Of course, this same girl once asked "What are the side-effects of your heart stopping?"
-
When I was young we learned about Hitler the proper way.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Alternate text for this post: Me after being in Munich airport lol.
-
sigh Wolfenstein. Takes me right back.
-
this is how i learned about hitler
-
Dude I've met people who don't even know who Hitler is. Don't even ask me to go further.
I'm almost positive that's impossible, if not because Hitler is mentioned (both directly and indirectly) in TV and Media, then because kids are taught World History as early as Elementary School and you kind of don't just leave the Holocaust out of the curriculum.
-
@Cyan:
this is how i learned about hitler
oddly enough that's pretty close to how a lot of Americans see it. LolOh and taking credit for the war. It's not like they sat on the fence through most of it :I

Sorry but it's the complete truth. It happened during High school. She wasn't a very bright girl to begin with, but she was a Junior. A 16 year old junior who took World History class at that.
-

well yeah who would want to admit that the goddamn soviets were the ones who scared hitler into blowing his brains out

That dosen't surprise me. I knew a kid in High School that didn't know who Al-qaeda was.
-

its not surprising really. I mean it was a long time ago and made little impact on the country or it's citizens.
Plus when you say hitler, most people will just sum it up with a dodgy moustache gesture, frog walking and a side parting. They wouldn't be able to tell you much more than that. And I mean like anything else. Hell even the people posting here won't have much of an idea how he came to be and how his life and ideals were formed. And that's not just the US posters but even a great deal of European posters too.
I guess what I'm saying is the question "who is hitler" is a lot broader than a one sentence summary.
I guess it's one of the reasons mein kampf is on my list of things I want to read. I has the answer to a lot of questions I had about him in his youth.
-
I just recently learned that someone I've known since middle school, and is now a COLLEGE student, didn't know what STONEWALL was.
-
@Cyan:
well yeah who would want to admit that the goddamn soviets were the ones who scared hitler into blowing his brains out
lol
You know it's weird you mention that, as I saw a documentary about his remains a while back. Kind of weird outcome.
As for Russia…..kind of surprised he didn't join his comrades in Argentina. And suicide, it's just kind of pathetic. I always thought a man of his determination would go out guns blazing. I'm not glorifying him, but understand he was too passionate to give up with a bullet to the brain.
-
I just recently learned that someone I've known since middle school, and is now a COLLEGE student, didn't know what STONEWALL was.
That's a little more understandable than a few stupid people's lacking knowledge of Hitler. I don't recall ever being taught about Stonewall in school, having only read about it myself. And I live just a train ride away from where it happened! Though the fact that I went to a Catholic Elementary/Middle School and High school could have something to do with that.
-
oddly enough that's pretty close to how a lot of Americans see it. LolOh and taking credit for the war. It's not like they sat on the fence through most of it :I
Thanks for your summary of American views of WW1.
In WW2 y'all in Europe sure do love to forget the Pacific war. Which incidentally is why your colonial subjects there kicked you out right afterward lol.
"HALLO SINGAPORE, TERRIBLE SORRY ABOUT HOW MUCH WE SUCKED. CAN WE CONTROL YOU BLOKES AGAIN? NO?" -
I learned about Hitler when I was really young… through Indiana Jones. B) But I got all the icky details down in HS with my elective Advanced History class.
-
If I remember right Russia said they would help out in the Pacific Theater after Germany surrendered but they just decided not to or something. I don't know if it was just them who said that or not.
