Still feeling a bit sad about Hyouzou, he had the potential to become a worthy opponent.
It's possible Oda wanted to do something with Hyouzou, but later trashed the idea.

And just like that, the Fishman Island Arc is over.
I'm guessing the only stuff left is some mop-up "thank you's", maybe Robin talking about the Poneglyph, half a chapter about what ends up happening to Decken/NFP's, some more stuff about that Franky/Den tree wood, a firm handshake and goodbyes. This arc was basically a mixture between Enies Lobby and Skypeia; I was expecting more shocks and turns, to be honest.
Oh, and one last thing before they go ..
! Luffy telling Jinbe to fuck off and not letting him join up. That'll be a nice end.
I feel like I just got robbed. Advance the fking plot alredy -__________-
Isn't finishing the main fights advancing the plot cause they are part of the story? Now all the opponents are out and Noah can be dealt with freely.
Yeah, literaly it goes like this: "A frog in a well does not know the great sea."
Ironically, the well is at the bottom of the great sea.
But having that many finishing moves at once, kind of diminished the coolness of each one for me.
I hope this format of finishing fights won't make a return.
I was thinking about this while reading the spoilers, and I agree, but I don't think Oda's going to play out every fight-set hereafter like that, I feel like this was just so we could all see the level the crew is at post-timeskip.
Yeah, Chopper's move was pretty cool, but all he really did was just slap Dosun with his hand.
And when compared to the others, it dwarfs in comparison.
True, but it did remind me of getting hit with a train. What an impact! My only complaint (and I don't want to mark this chapter with negatives) is I want to see more from the SHs! Especially Zoro, while he's way stronger he showed us nothing really different for him. I imagine we'll see more in the future.
@Miss:

Oh no! One chapter didn't advance the plot??
What ever shall we do?!

I don't believe you know how Luffy, or Oda, thinks…
I feel like I just got robbed. Advance the fking plot alredy -__________-
Robbed of what, ffs? It´s not like you payed for this chapter -.-
Great chapter, really laughed much while reading :D Chopper was just too cool, the finisher moves and the art/looks as well! Damn =)
Oops.
Franky: Metal element… if metal comprises of technology :ninja:
Franky: Light (BEAM)
Robin: Dark (humor)
I gotta agree, everything looked fantastic. Going by attack spread sequences:
Brook's is a little cooler (pun intended!) in concept and dialogue than visuals, though it still looked very impressive. Adding his icy blood-freezing attack to his original sword techniques is a logical progression. The blood-freezing was especially cool, though. His song, of course, was hilarious.
Usopp really was badass, and I loved how he had everything planned out so he could allow himself to be distracted during combat – or maybe that was his plan too? ;) His attacks looked very nice, and "Impact Wolf" was a good new finisher, visually, thematically, and in strength. I don't really miss all his old attacks, to be honest -- I think he's grown well into the plant theme, and don't things like his egg, tabasco, and pepper stars all come from biological organisms anyway? (Was gonna say plants, but then remembered... y'know... EGG.) I imagine he'll still have stuff that explodes and shoots fire, since it might be trickier to find plants that do that. Maybe the plants just provide the fuel, and he's still gotta provide the spark, or something. Anyway...
Chopper's Monster Point dancing was indeed scary, if hilarious. And nice to know that that's the form that definitely requires a Rumble Ball. His attack certainly looked powerful, but I think the more significant thing about it was being in control, which we already learned about last chapter, and is still cool besides. However, the "hoof" swipe still looked a lot like his older rampaging attacks.
Franky's fight ended well, particularly since he himself gave the finishing shot instead of his mecha. Given the way he holds his arms, it's quite obvious that the beam is the spiritual successor to the Coup de Vent. But the fact that it's a beam is awesome (the reactions of Chopper and Usopp, and especially Robin and Nami, are great). It's nice to know that his final attack is now an energy attack instead of just a huge gust of wind (which was still cool).
Jimbei's was pretty good, though we already knew that he could damage the water in something after his fight with Luffy. Still, that his attack could penetrate the entire huge form of Wadatsumi is quite impressive. Anything that can do a penetrating attack and hit everything inside is very badass. It might not look as visually cool as a giant beam or fireball, but I think it's far more crippling. I also like that he understood his role in damaging his enemy enough to blast him into the air for Sanji.
Sanji's attack seemed like a little more of the same, but ramped up to the nth degree. Looks like he engages a full-body style Diable Jambe that delivers more fiery damage than one kick (or set of kicks) could. Plus, it's powerful enough to set Wadatsumi aflame (even if he looks like he's lost a bit of size due to the air escaping). Very nice, visually, and a very impressive advancement on his power. Looks like him blowing up can literally happen now.
Zoro's attack is impressive in the sense that he one-shotted Hyouzou. I think that has more to say about how strong Zoro's attack is rather than how weak Hyouzou is. Still, while it is again a logical power progression, it doesn't have the same pop and impact as his "Black Rope: Great Dragon Twister". It's a fine looking attack, it's just not as impressive as Usopp's or Franky's in terms of innovation and a different look. It's just simply a more powerful Onigiri. Of course, again, the fact that he one-shotted the strongest swordsman on the island is badass. (Also, how do you show Zoro completely dominating an opponent with sword slashes without said opponent being in gruesome pieces by the end?) What I did love about Zoro's fight, though, is his dialogue. Talking down to Hyouzou like he's a no-nothing kid in this wide world is exactly what Mihawk would do to an opponent.
Overall, great chapter. I kinda lament that Nami and Robin didn't get a double spread to shine, but I'm sure they'll have more moments soon enough. There have been arcs where Nami didn't get an impressive fight, like Skypiea, but her knowledge and equipment were essential to solving the situation at hand. Maybe they've already displayed their important moments (stealing keys, breaking up Luffy/Jimbei fight, etc.), but I sure hope they've got more to add by the end of this.
I was thinking about this while reading the spoilers, and I agree, but I don't think Oda's going to play out every fight-set hereafter like that, I feel like this was just so we could all see the level the crew is at post-timeskip.
I agree, but that reinforces my belief that timeskips(or how rather how they have appeared in manga) in general are a bad storytelling tool.
Doesn't that all the fights are over count as plot advancing?
It kind of looked like an impact dial tbh. I bet he will still use dials.
Agreed. It caught me by surprise that after all that plant usage, he finishes off with Impact.
My thirst for badass was satisfied.
I don't believe you know how Luffy, or Oda, thinks…
Lighten up, fish fanboy. It's a joke.
Great action in this chapter, Brook's spread was particularly fantastic. :)
Franky: Light (BEAM)
Robin: Dark (humor)
Franky's got hammers, wind, and fire too… so yeah...
Robin: Dark, okay I'll take that.
Then Luffy shall be Light because he's da hero.
So I'm not sure if this was brought up already (or if it's too obvious to warrant bringing up…) -- but does Usopp's attack indicate that he has figured out and replicated the technology of the Impact Dials? That would be really damn useful if so. Impacts are known for dealing nasty "internal" damage that is hard to defend against and could even help deal with certain DF users.
What's the verdict on the mechanics of Sanji's attack? It looks to me like he just kicked in that full-body flames "form" and it had that effect, did anyone get a different impression? The scale covered is pretty extreme for one kick.
@Miss:
Lighten up, fish fanboy. It's a joke.
I'm Chopper-tier when it comes to recognizing sarcasm.

Well, Oda's not going to reveal all their new tricks and techniques in this arc. This chapter was only a tease at what the crew is now capable of.
When the time comes, we'll see their full strength.
Caribou is the only villian left now.
Translation corrections:
page 7: Brook finishes the match with a haiku.
page 8: The raw script is a bit confusing here. Usopp says the bulb grows to 3 meters in diameter, but it's more like the shockwave hits that wide.
page 9: The term "Palme" is a play on the word "palm".
page 10: The lower left bubble translates to "dried squid".
page 11: "Buraikan" literally translates to "Reliable Military Weight". The "kan" bit also is a pun for sushi.
page 12: Wadatsumi says "Scared the guts outta me!!"
Lower text bubble, top left panel should be "That saves me some trouble!" The following lines then make more sense.
Okay, that ought to clear up some questions…
woah a BEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!
lol'd at nami and robins stock reactions to Usopp's and Chopper's amazement, poor luffy missing out on the epic moment.
hehe I figured it was both the amazement and the lazer. Seems to be a recuring theme with the girls since reunion, we've seen them with a stony faced stare at the guys when they act amazed and show off. I think it is..what third or fourth time we've seen teh girls give that cold stare. I'm startign to laugh every time I see it.
Nami = Lightning element
Sanji = Fire element
Brook = Ice element
Jinbe = Water element
Zoro = Wind element
Usopp = Plant element
Chopper = Earth?
Robin = ???
Franky = Metal element… if metal comprises of technology :ninja:
Luffy = No element
Edit: forgot Franky :sad:
I'd say Luffy has the spirit or human element with how much he puts his emotions into his fights. I mean when he fights for a friend or family is when he really shows his strenght.
@sag:
One Piece: The only manga where an over sized sky Phyton makes part of the assets of a leisure park "futuristic thanks to Ussop:ninja:". I'm gladly impressed Oda.
To be fair I've never seen a Phytons tongue being use as a Bungee wire, and she doesn't mind at all. Nola looks actually happy. Btw Aisa looks amaizing, she's gonna be an outstanding beauty by the time she turns 18.
Too much epicness in so few pages. Heads back to Mangastream and starts rereading the chapter once more.
I like this cover, it shows it IS a amusement park instead of themed park (Graceland is considered a themed park and very different from Disneyland so the difference counts) But it does make me sad… Hopefully Usopp is more than just a mascot ;)
AS for Aisa, am I the only one who thinking that Aisa reminds me of Calgara's daughter, Mousse?? http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Mousse
Good chapter,filled with awesome.
Loved the cover again.
The frog thing didnt understand at first,after i read the sub-text understood a bit,is that saying in japan?
Yeah it's a refernce to a old wise saying that alludes to a meanign similar to someone who stays in one area and doesn't experience much is uneducated and uncultured.
What is Usopp actually saying about the wolf's nose? Doesn't make much sense. Is he saying the shockwave is 3M in diameter?
YEs, he's refering to the nose will explode and cause a shockwave that can reach a 3M diameter.
Caribou is the only villian left now.
Time for Nami to charge in and steal the mermaids right out of his swamp. And then blow him up or electrocute him.
No, Caribou's not going to be defeated in this arc.
But I'm kinda disappointed in Usopp's new weapons. How can I explain? I liked that he created his own weapons and combined them with dials, there was a sense of cunning in his attacks, like mixing gas with fire or creating diversions. But now he just found a lot of plants that do outrageous things, so what's stopping Oda from creating a different plant for each situation? I mean, plant that creates shockwaves?
I hope we see a limited number of plants so that in later arcs Usopp pulls his cunning moves, instead of relying on bizarre new plants every time. And I still want to see him using weapons of his own creation (and I wanna see him use Impact without suffering any side effects, Oda!).
Caribou is the only villian left now.
At least until Aladdin shows up and reveals he was the true mastermind behind everything!
A pretty funny but otherwise pointless chapter.
A pretty funny but otherwise pointless chapter.
It finished the main fights of the arc. How is it pointless?
Eyes are currently sparkles
SO AWESOME! Loving each of their new moves! Chopper dancing as his giant form was too funny
Again with the blank stares from the girls, This was an amazing chapter! To think there is more where that came from as well….
Get me a towel
That was a great chapter, though I thought all the 2 page spreads were a bit much, but I guess that's Oda's style when it comes to large-scale brawls. The Marineford war was full of 'em.
But all the new attacks were amazing, and I loved the "BEEEEEEAAM?!" Moment, as well as Choppers reaction to Usopp's compliment, caught me off guard.
hwoooooooooooohhhhaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mind imploded from the awesomeness of this chapter Mansopp-sama was the best!! o
@Miss:
And just like that, the Fishman Island Arc is over.
Still have to worry about Noah. VDD might make a return as he's still shrouded in some mystery.
Then, of course, there is Coribou.
But I'm kinda disappointed in Usopp's new weapons. How can I explain? I'm pretty sure the thing on the end of the wolf's nose is an impact dial.
Or, as someone else suggested, Usopp has figured out the technology to the impact dial and know how to implement it elsewhere.
…Must I wait until everyone has stopped fangasming before I can settle the translation issues?
You people make me disappointed.
No, Caribou's not going to be defeated in this arc.

I think that Usopp might be able to crossbreed some of the pop greens in order to create new species of plants with different purposes.
Since Oda originally planned for a botanist to be in the crew, Usopp could start doing this in the future.
That "Green Star - Human Drake" should be called "Mandrake", instead… Usopp is using a mandrake (mandragora).
Very good, Miss Granger! Ten points to Gryffindor!
Anyways, AAAAAAAAAAAA THIS CHAPTERRR AAAAAAAAAA
Brook's was my favorite!!
Oda, how you win me over time and again I will never know.
Glorious Franky Beam is Glorious.
…Must I wait until everyone has stopped fangasming before I can settle the translation issues?
You people make me disappointed.
Why are translation issues important?
Why are translation issues important?
Must you really ask? In case anyone is confused/interested with missing out on certain points. The Japanese don't have to be the only ones who get full comprehension.
But in this chapter, it's more about the pictures, isn't it?
Why are translation issues important?
Because if they weren't ever sorted out, we'd still be wondering why Ace and Luffy never met at a formal Pirates' Summit.

Ohh indeed, nice catch there. It would make sense seeing as she mastered COO at such a young age. A Strong lineage tends to be shown sooner or later and I'm sure that Calgara's can't be ruled out.
Lol nice chapter it had to happen this beatdowns, nothing happened storywise but beatdowns were delivered, looking forward to see what happens next chapter.
Prersonally really liked Brook this week.
Awesome drawings! That's what I call Timeskip Power Up

Thanks for the effort! I really do appreciate this. Don't take it too hard that so few answer to this, everyone has to first get their excitement out… kind of disappointing haha but to be fair there's not too much that can actually be "discussed" in this chapter, rather just commented on =)
Well… the chapter didn't live up to the hype the spoilers created, to be honest. I was underwhelmed by most of it :/
I really like Brook's ice based attacks and his final haiku was priceless!
Franky's beam was pure awesomeness in its more raw state!
But them aside...
Chopper's Palme and Zoro's slash (sry, I never remember his attacks names) are just that generic. Zoro's attack seems like something we saw him doing thousands of times already.
Jinbe's Buraikan and Sanji's Hell Memories are quite uninteresting as well as I have the feeling we always knew they could do that.
And Usopp... my biggest disapointment. Plant-based powers are ALWAYS my favorite, so I was quite happy when he appeared using plants in SA and couldn't wait to see more of his new fighting style. But, honestly, I didn't like what I saw now, those plants looked really lust-lacking and that wolf... it just doesn't have a "plant" feeling doesn't matter how I look at it. Maybe if it was colored and I saw it all green it would help...
Anyways, at least I am pretty sure we are faaar away from seeing the strongest techniques of them all, it's like they are not using even 25% of their powers to do those last attacks.
The art in this chapter was amazing; Anyone else disappointed by Zoro's move though? It looked no different than his usual Onigiri:/ And Sanji's attack would have been more impressive if we could actually see how the fire spread from his leg to Wadatsumi's body. The rest were golden though. Especially Brook and Franky's.
I agree with Deicide with regards to Usopp. His attacks seem to be too diverse, even if that last attack did incorporate an impact dial. Every single attack he's used so far has been different, and I find that a little troubling. First root plants, then plant trampoline, then wolf attack. I don't like it much.
Though this chapter felt a bit short, there was so much eye candy that it was worth it. All of the attacks were amazing, but the ones that stood out for me the most were Franky's, Brook's and Usopp's. There go all the NFP officers, so all that remains are the fodder (which Robin and Nami are dealing with) and stopping Noah. I'm sure that as the chaos is unfolding, Caribou is watching from somewhere secluded going "Oh, ****, I better not let these guys find me", so I doubt he'll show up soon. He's still very much a wild card, along with Decken, so I think this arc should last a while longer…
This week's Franky and Brook were SUUUUPER...

Thats what happen when you read spoilers though. :ninja:
Sanj
Ussop
Jinbe
Nuff said.
Wait, are people still whining about how easy the NFP have been defeated? Seriously? Thought it was obvious why the fights in this arc have been as short as they have been. =/
