I'm guessing the cover of the last issue will have Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo, Goku, and Yugi on the cover at least. Mashiro, Takagi, Yusuke, Hikaru, Yoh, Nura, Yusei, Jaden, Gintoki, Sakuragi, Lag, Bobobo, and Toriko would seemingly have a chance as well. I wonder if it'll be sort of like the 100th issue which had characters from all series that ran in the magazine…even Gintama, Slam Dunk, and Tegami Bachi.

I would also like Kenshin and Gon to show up on the cover...but that might not happen.

The way I see it, Issue 100 had all the series that ever ran in the magazine on the cover and one huge picture of Goku. If they make Goku a little smaller, they could fit all the others like Gon, Kenshin, Light, Toriko, Mashiro and Takagi, etc. from the series that were volume only as well as Luffy, Naruto, Goku, etc.

The final issue should be up to at least 400 or 500 pages.
I don't why it wouldn't have that many pages.

The final issue will most likely have the same thing as the 100th issue, with either Gokû or Naruto on the cover with the other SJ heroes around them. And then maybe some Shonen Jump memories from their print run scattered throughout.

I wonder how Weekly SHONEN JUMP Alpha will operate? Will the thing we get be like an actual issue? Or will it be like J Weekly (JManga's "weekly online magazine") were it's just the 1 chapter out of each series linked one after the other? Or will it be like the Shonen Jump we have now, with articles and whatnot at the beginning, followed by the manga and some other goodies in-between, and the corresponding JUMP cover from which those chapters were printed in in Japan? I hope it's the latter.

You download an app and it plays through that. The "VIZ Reader".

You and me both. They will have no excuse not to. I know it costs money to use them in print but I don't think it will be a problem for the digital release.

I wonder what they mean by having vol. 65 and 66 out by January. Don't they come out later than that? I'm basing it off when Japan releases vol. 64.

Ah that kinda sucks you have to be on the internet to read the digital copies. It would be way cooler if they were just stored on your computer.

Japanese print volumes of 65 and 66 won't even be out by then.

Volume 64 - November 2011 in Japan
Volume 65 - February 2012 in Japan
Volume 66 - May 2012 in Japan

Volume 64 should be 11 chapters by the given page count. This means 627 - 637 in volume 64. As of this week we will have 6 chapters from volume 65.

So basically Viz will be right up to date w/ the Japanese release at least digitally.

I expect they'll be putting the print editions of the volumes out pretty close to Japan as well.

We already know that volume 62 will be out in May. I don't think it's unreasonable to think 63 will be out in July, 64 in September, 65 in November, and possibly 66 in January 2013.

Guess we'll also know the number of chapters in Volumes 65 and 66 before they are even released in Japan.

Also not that I care much, but that volume 49 cover for Bleach might be an indication of an actual speed up of Bleach volumes later next year. It would make sense at this point considering the 10 - 15 volume gap between Japan and the US (don't really know the exact number and don't particularly care as I stopped buying Bleach some time ago).

While I won't be buying the digital volumes, I feel sorry for whoever is going to actually buy nineteen digital volumes in the course of 4 months.

Ah yeah I don't plan to buy digital volumes either. However, it is cool seeing how up to date the digital volumes are…..it kinda leads me to believe they'll try to get the print volumes out pretty quickly in the US. At one point Naruto volumes were only 5 months behind Japan. I think they might be going back to that with at least One Piece and Naruto.

I'm going to try to but the digital copies. I already had some but their site was a little frustrating for me however it looks like they added more features like a page by page format. That's better for me since I often accidentally pushed the forward or back arrow when I tried to zoom in.

We are going to be in sync with Japan's releases. Which means we get it when they do. I have no idea if those dates are correct though seeing as how the JUMP Editorial Office has only green-lit Volume 64 though.

EDIT: This actually makes less sense now, Volume 64 comes out November, which I can see us getting in January. And Volume 65 should come out in January as well in Japan, meaning we get it around the same time too, but to get Volume 66 a full week after is weird. So I'm with you Dragonpiece. What the fuck??

If they make the manga viewer a bit better i'm all for digital purchases. from what Ive seen it can get really irritating to read versus a physical copy. Is it any better when you actually purchase a digital copy? CUZ im just reading samples.

I have some digital Toriko and Bakuman。volumes and the reader is the same but has some good extra features.

1 Is obviously you can go full screen.

2 Is that you can zoom in however you want and as far as you want and the picture will still remain clear.

3 You can change the view to one-page or two-page.

4 You can click "Book Mark" and a mark will be saved on whatever page you left off on.

5 You can post comments on whatever you are reading to communicate with people who are reading the same purchase.

But yes I do agree physical copies are much better.

You can also purchase the manga through an amazon.com account, so if you get amazon gift cards you can still buy them the same way. So far VIZ only allows you to make purchases through a PayPal account or a amazon.com account.

I think I can see what they're saying with Volume 66.

They're releasing volume 63, chapters 615-626 on Dec 19th then from Jan 9th-23rd they'll be releasing chapters 627-642+ (which would be their own translated versions, since they said they're going to start releasing chapters 2 weeks after Japan, of all chapters 643+ which Oda releases between now .. the chapter released this week and the chapter released 2 weeks before Jan 23). And I'm assuming they're thinking Chapters 627 up to their catch up point will be included in the future releases of volumes 64, 65, and 66. And maybe, via collaboration with Japan, they'll already know which chapters will be included in which volumes and maybe even the cover art too depending on how/when Oda draws the covers in relation to the volumes being released

At least that's what I'm guessing

Awesome news all round. I had a feeling Viz would drop thier magazine… because whenever I see it, I always wondered if it was practicial to keep something like it in print. At most, I thought the mag mostly sold because of free Yugioh cards and even that is a dying trend. The price increase was also really daunting.

On to the digital age. I'd actually purchase a subscription for this, mainly because I have lost interest in discussing OP on this forum and don't really like the quality of the scans from MS or other groups these days(there's actually a really good scan group, but they tend to have sleeper releases). They got my support and I'm hoping they execute the idea nicely. If not, atleast decent. Improvements can come in time.

Not sure what you mean. If you want to save the chapters to your computer, especially if they'll expire like with Alpha, you could use that button, paste 'em in Paint and save 'em that way. It ain't pretty, but if the free chapters on vizmanga are indicative, it works.

The paper books are definitely coming, just on a later schedule than the digital versions.

Uh, how did I in any way imply that? It just so happens that editing, printing and distributing all those books takes a lot longer than simply editing them and uploading them on a website to download. Doesn't mean they're gonna stop printing anytime soon.

Trans is good. Print quality is good. No major errors or edits as far as I can tell. I have the 59 available volumes and I am very pleased with them.

Hopefully we'll be able to point out any errors in the digital release, so they'll fix them for the physical books

Depends on how well you know the source material. If you're a super dedicated fan and know the series inside and out, there's a lot of little things that will bother you.

But if you're just a casual fan, they're pretty great. There's nothing major wrong with them.

(Well, aside from Zolo… but thats 4Kid's fault.)

I glance through the Bleach volumes from time to time and usually they get things right but my biggest complaint right now is that from volumes 49 and up the logo was changed and i guess Viz decided that they should use the old logo for some stupid reason.

About the Viz Digital Manga; While you're viewing the pages of your purchase, is there a way to STAY zoomed.. like I hate having to continuously zoom in for every page I turn to.

I've really been weighing in the pros and cons of switching from Physical (Which I barely buy nowadays, because sadly they don't last with my reckless family) to Digital copies.

I know, right? At least it's understandable for FUNi, who don't have distribution rights outside of North-America. Viz does.

Since when? I know VIZ exists as seperate subsidiaries in different regions but that doesn't mean VIZ in North America can necessarily distribute in europe.

In the UK Viz distributes themselves and their manga is incredibly easy to find in the rest of Europe, which wouldn't be possible if they didn't have some sort of publishing right.
