Can mods please make a Air Gear, D.Grayman and Gantz thread.
The "The What Fuck Is Going On I"
Please, don't merge the Fairy Tail with this one.
The Naruto and Bleach threads were merged for very good reasons, but there's a large group of us that would like to discuss Fairy Tail without having to go through what's in this thread.
And haven't we already sufficiently proven it wasn't a popular idea twice already?
Maybe when there's a better reason than a few vocal readers wanting to make a point about taste. When the Fairy Tail THREAD is as bad as the Naruto and Bleach THREADS, maybe then it's time to talk mergers. It's not like the Narublech threads where NOBODY liked the manga. I don't think the manga is good, but that isn't cause to ruin it for the members who do.

I don't see how it being merged kills the discussion possibilities. It'd be more like a mark of its notoriety then anything else. I mean really, what does go through this thread? We still discuss the respective chapters and everything else without any trouble I think.
@No:
Can I still ask something about this ? What the hell is up with Hancock and Colonel Sanders ? O_O
Company secret.
So about naruto, I was thinking about kishi's execution of the war and one thing that could have made it better is if the other villages were shown a little more prior to the war… We got the sand village for the beginning of part 2, but I mean something similar to how the fillers do, an arc or 2 centered around new villages would have been cool. I feel like the ninja world went from leaf village to worldwide without any exposition.
We got the rain with Jaraiya but still... This is a world war going on in the manga but it feels like there new character and villages just came out of nowhere.
We got a good amount of background on killer bee and the village hidden in the clouds. Their group seems to have gotten a lot of screen time too, with zombie raikage, as well as the current raikage's subordinates and team samui etc. Pretty sure the anime will do a better job of fleshing some of those details out though too.
It's a Triple Tech!
This sounds like a brilliant idea. I'm all for throwing Naruto, Bleach, Reborn, Fairy Tail, and Negima in the same thread.
What's that? You say Negima is good? Could it be… an opinion!? Nah, there's no such thing as subjectivity. Let's let one guy determine what's good and what's bad and lump everything they don't like into one thread.
Because there certainly aren't any good, intelligent, and respectable members that like Fairy Tail or Negima, that manage to make those threads more than just constant and tedious mockery of the series in question.
this wins it, besides it be to hectic it's already that way, sometimes I just want to discuss naruto or bleach but someones busy talking about the other series and it's to hard to get a discussion going
on that note I forget the discussion of that chapter but does anyone remember the two suns chapter in Naruto reread it does anyone think it's ridiculous that Naruto said that the two things that got him through all his troubles and doubts in his sixteen years of existence to fight the nine tails was his mom and dad who he literally just met a couple days ago, you know not Iruka who he thought of as a father and treated him like a son which then somehow changed to brother, or his friends and mentors who cared and supported him through all his tough times like the kohana 11, kakashi, Jiriya etc.
Okay. Seriously. All of you. SHUT UP ABOUT IT NOW. MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE.
if I'd known my one line joke about Fairy Tail would spiral downward into pages upon pages of people insulting one another, I wouldn't have done it. Seriously, we've debated the point twice. At length. And voted on it, the poll is still right up there. It's not going to be thrown into this pile.
On a lark, as a joke, when one of these series ends, I feel okay with making a joke about it. But its not happening now, not anytime soon.
Lion, you especially are dragging this on after I told you to STOP. Kitsune, my message was up plenty long saying the matter was ended, you shouldn't have poked further.
Silence, well he explained why this particular merge is why it is. It's because the THREADS are identically bad, not so much the series themselves.
Now. MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. Kenpachi using two hands or the kyuubi looking like a Chihuahua, I don't care. But enough with the personal insults.
when kenpachi pets the kyuubi-chihuahua, he uses both hands.
I have a perplexing philosophical dilemma for you all.
Tsukishima, while unquestionably evil, used his power to insert himself in people's histories in positive ways. Was it not, in fact, unethical to kill him and remove those retroactive good times from people's realities?

Dear MangaStream supporter,
It's with a heavy heart that I make the following announcement. MangaStream will no longer be releasing the following series:
- Naruto
- Bleach
- One Piece
- Hunter x Hunter
- Katekyo Hitman Reborn
- Claymore
- D.Gray-man
VIZ Media has demanded that we end our scanlation work for all of the above. This comes despite our best efforts to pursuade fans into supporting official distributors by being the only group to actively prevent an archive from forming on their website through the removal of chapters that are older than a couple weeks. They've succeeded in little more than invoking inconvenience to the community as their digital magazine missed the mark; it runs several issues behind and only features 3 of the above series. So long as their product continues to be slow, awkward and inferior to something a ragtag group of nobodies can churn out in a few hours - fans will continue to look to scanlation groups and aggregators for their weekly fix.
Booyeah!
Oh yeah… I forgot people liked these guys. Commence to mourning
i was just about to post that, what a bummer.
guess i'm 100% a mangareader user now.
Kind of sad, who else did Claymore?

I feel like someone else does considering the latest chapter was up on mangareader before mangastream

Mangastream's translations kinda sucked ass honestly.
This was kind of unexpected at first (I thought the lack of archives would keep publishers off their backs), but really, it's karma - Manga Stream tweeting Kubo about a Bleach chapter before it came out is what kick-started this whole "shutting down manga sites" mess, as I recall.

Lol stupid move by mangastream, is there any primary source to that incident or is it only word of mouth at this point?

Fake happy memories or the truth?
Had Bleach been a good series they could've played with this idea. While Tsukishima's powers are hilariously broken they had interesting potential in the sense that you could make the reader question what they've read, leave clues throughout the series that events that have occurred may not be the events we've witnessed (with plausible explanations so they're not just retcons of course), and have his powers leave lasting damage to the minds and world around them. In the hands of a good writer, it could've potentially worked.
Hell I just came off a 9 hour shift and am half asleep but I'll wing a character idea that would've worked, a semi-faschist version of Rosine from Berserk:
Tsukishima uses his power to become friends with everyone possible. Why? He grew up all alone without a friend in the world while he saw the world around grow and live without him. He's suicidally depressed because he couldn't live within any of these people's lives. They grew not knowing he had existed and would die alone as a result. Out of that anguish he gains his power to insert memories into others to be whoever he wanted to be for each and every person.
His desires, while innocent at the heart of it, become gradually more twisted the more people he becomes friends with and his until then fragile and nonexistant ego grow out of control as he creates more grandiose memories of himself into others until eventually he wishes to be a God within the minds of every individual in existance.
There. That's how you create an interesting villain instead of a fart in an empty white room that exists just long enough to be an inconvenience at best.
Lol stupid move by mangastream, is there any primary source to that incident or is it only word of mouth at this point?
If I wasn't feeling so lazy I could track down the Anime News Network & Japanator articles and specific Mangastream tweets that prompted this, as all of us were around when both incidents happened. Jump issued a statement in the following issue condemning foreign leechers and shortly thereafter Shueisha was so motivated they formed an international publishing company coalition which resulted in OneManga, Manga Helpers, and various other sites getting shut down.
But I'm feeling lazy. It's a lot of work to say: "Yes, this happened and this is true."
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The twitter incident was basically someone associated with mangastream congratulating Kubo on his 400th chapter. The problem was that she referenced something that occurred in that chapter, thus giving away the fact she had read the chapter before it had been officially released. Not long after the website RawParadise was shut down, and that tweet was attributed to it.
With the iPad incident they tried to commission an app for their releases, which they had to back down from after Viz caught wind (they would be making money off of this).
They might have made some other bone-headed moves, but those two are the big ones.
. .
Also Jay that idea is utterly amazing.

What I take from this is that Kishi thinks he's a better writer than he is. Does he really believe he explored Akatsuki that well? The only guys that have backstories have shitty backstories (Itachi, Konan, Nagato).
Akatsuki, eh?
Sasori: Got a backstory, which was decent, I guess.
Hidan: No backstory and no real explanation for his BS powers
Kakuzu: Same as above
Deidara: Got a stupidly forced backstory during his final fight with Sasuke
Pain/Nagato: TIIIIIINYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Konan: Gay frog outfits
Itachi: Don't even get me started
Kisame: No backstory and, really, for as long as he was around I don't think he really had a character at all.
Zetsu: Elaborate on him or just fucking kill him already! God!
Tobi: We still have no idea who he is or what his motivation is. Really lame big bad.
Kisame did get a backstory.
Also, I think Akatsuki beats Orochimaru any day of the week.

Fake happy memories or the truth?
They weren't fake. Artificial, contrived, but not fake. Tsukishima literally altered their pasts. So those happy memories were the truth, up until Tsukishima dies.
Orochimaru was the greatest villain in Naruto. The only negative aspect to his character, was the fact that he could never overcome the Uchiha blood-limit. That pissed me off more than anything. Sure, Orochimaru could have it as a weakness, but don't make him 100% vulnerable to it. The sharingan destroyed Orochimaru's character. Made him into a genin in front of Itachi and Sasuke.
Kishi should have gone another route. If Orochimaru wouldn't be able to take Sasuke's body, he should have had Plan B in store, as any responsible villain would prepare for. For instance, take over a body of another blood-line user, without much if any negative backlash from his immortality technique. And go on from there.
It makes me upset looking at the past. So much potential, but Kishi opted to shit on his own work and make money in the easiest way possible.

Anyone have part 1 like this?

not only Oro,kishi destroyed two other superb char in Neji and Lee….and wasted on giving panels and stroy to ino-shika-cho....
Kisame did get a backstory.
Care to remind me what it was, 'cause I'm damned if I can remember.
Care to remind me what it was, 'cause I'm damned if I can remember.
Starting from here he got 6 six pages of a backstory. At least something.
Kisame's backstory was basically a reminder that a ninja's duty is to his village, and must put its welfare above their own.
So he got eaten by sharks.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
In retrospect, Kisame has the best backstory of Akatsuki.
Am I the only who thinks that Kisame was meant to die against killerbee and Raikage ?
Huh that reminds me how stupid Kisame death was.
While it was badass it came of a very stupid reason.
"Hey Kisame how did you survive?"
"Hahahaha you guys are so dumb it was a Jetsu clone, it can perfectly become the person it wants and no one can see it hahahaha!!!!!"
"Huh that is really good info you gave to your enemy we should remembers this, give this info we just learned of him back to HQ. Now can you gives us that scroll?"
"AHHHH NO WAY I WILL NEVER GIVE INFO TO THE ENEMY, THAT IS MY CHARACTER NOW!!!!!!!!"
*flasback saying that he never gives info to the enemy
*gets eaten by his own sharks because he doesn't want to give info to his enemy
In the next chapter of Naruto both Naruto and Sasuke discover that Ichigo died so they attempt to bring him back but in the process Naruto loses his left leg and Sasuke his entire body. Now they seek to bring back what was lost by joining the magic Guild 'Fairy Tail'. In here they meet the Shinigami Ryuk who tells them they have to defeat the Fire Lord before Sozin's Comet arrives and Fire Lord Bugs Bunny takes control of the Earth Kingdom. They go to defeat him but but before the final blow is struck, Bugs opens a portal in time and flings them into the future, where his evil is law. Now the fools seek to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku.
I like plagirism too.

@Cyan:

Oh yeah, that's right. Because putting his duty above all else was what Kisame was about all along.
Fuck you Kishi.
I hate when a character only gets development or a back story when their about to Die
I am definetely curious to see the Itachi vs Kisame from the next game.
Wasn't the point of Kisame's backstory that he used to put his duty above all else, and then he was betrayed?
Jeez that two page spread in the latest chapter was wasted space.
But a question i wanna ask kishi is " How does it fell your manga is getting utterly thrashed by one piece and nothing you can do will stop it?"
To be fair, Japan is not as obssesed about Naruto, and I think not even Kishi sees Naruto as being superior to One Piece.

After seeing the marineford roster, I am persuaded that Kishi used the zombies no jutsu because his roster was rather unappealing. A plant we don't know or care, tailed beast we don't know or care, a masked guy who used to be awesome and funny is now so boring.
@No:
Speaking of which…..........what happened ? O.O
:) Aside from being a pretentious follower, what else?
I hate when a character only gets development or a back story when their about to Die
Maybe they do that cause it's like their life flashing before their eyes lol. But I understand what you mean, that's a very irritating way to reveal how that person got to where they are. Mostly because in the case of Kubo that almost always happens and it's a big ole who cares.
I'm still waiting on that flashback that Kubo was excited to write involving the fullbring guys. Didn't he say in an interview he was excited about that.
Kubo lying why whatever are the odds
He did a whole page with Tsukishima-san as kid and Ginjo in shinigami attire, and that counts for a long flashback by Bleach standards.
Oh, and look, Davy Jones got finally banned!
