zolo has goot to go. makes no sense why they still do that.
Chapter 657: A severed Head
-
-
It seems odd to me that some giants would willingly join the marines just like that. I always imagined they had some kind of pride that doesn't allow that, and it's not just with giants from Elbaf. I mean, if I would be that hella big, I wouldn't want some tiny little ants to order me around. Although maybe if they really want to help people and fight against piracy, they can put away this really big difference and may join the marines. That's if they are not from Elbaf.
I still think it's mostly brainwashing what made those giants (for example in the Giant Squad) to join the forces of the Marines. John Giant could be an exception because he seems like a fellow who would be up to some "save-innocent-people" stuff.
I still think that brainwah….ahhh... i mean raising them.... is only half (or 2/3rds) of the recruiting of giants. John Giant isn't the only one that has a "saving people thing" (sorry for the HP quote, couldn't help it ;) been spending time reading Harry Potter) Remember Jaguar D Saul? The giant vice admiral that freed Nico Olvia after he asked for her side of the story, defected from the marines because of the truth, befrineded then tried to help Robin? Now that's a heart of gold. ...He's not from Elbaf, so I wonder what island he's from?
Brainwash, or the giants have some serious issues with unemployment.
Ahh I'd have to disagree there. Just because we've not seen any giant cities doesn't mean they don't exist. IF any giant citiies/ towns/ villages exist, there has to be normal jobs within it to maintain the settlement. From the images of the Giant Warrior Pirates we see they are all giants and from Dorry & Broggy's talks to Luffy & Usopp and Saul's talk to Robin, we know that Elbaf has a giant settlement that seems to be like vikings.
But even in a Viking village, they would have a leader, bakers, cooks, carpenters, blacksmiths, someone to make clothing …. oh must not forget someone to make the mead ... after all they can't depend on the pirate raids to bring in the mead.... Pirates would drink all the alcohol before reaching home!

Because all things considered, it's not that bad of a translation. And they've been doing it for so long (nearly 10 years) that it would confuse all the people that only read the books when they come out here.

A footnote would be enough: "hey, we screwed up with his name, so we'll fix it instead of keeping it wrong because we're stubborn"

But again, it's not that bad.
Ls and Rs are interchangable in Japanese. And if Zolo should be changed to Zoro because of Zorro, then Roronoa should be changed to Lolonoa because of l'Ollonais.

It shouldn't, because Oda doesn't want it like that and we just can't argue with him.
It's even worse in Brasil. The publishing company that released One Piece until they dropped it in volume 35 screwed up names all the time, but the worst was calling Luffy Ruffy. They went bankrupt a few years ago, and another publishing company just picked up One Piece again. They're keeping "Ruffy". And this is ridiculous.
R and L may be interchangeable in Japanese, but when you translate the manga, it's not in Japanese anymore, and R/L are not interchangeable anymore. And I believe translators should respect the authors intentions with the names.

Whats all this talk about sanji not being able to destroy a door we have no idea what the door was made of who is to say it wasnt made of that metal even whitebeard couldn't destroy, i think this is one of those cases where something works but the other thing dosent lets not forget that its a fricken laser that can melt steel.
-
Maybe the beam was more effective because it covered a wider surface area…And melted some stuff. Sanji doesn't have giant feet, so he probably only gave it an experimental kick once, then Franky woke up.
-
Can't people see the DENT that Sanji made on the door?? I think in cells like these the doors will be made from extra heavy metal and whatnot. So the BEST WAY to get out is to BLAST through it with a BEAM (what Franky has) and melt the door hinges to make it lose!
I believe every SHs have their own strength and I am VERY GLAD that Oda shows this!! Not just Luffy/Zoro/Sanji saving everyone at the end of the day!!
-
Also let's not forget this is some New World Government facility. Those doors/cells are obviously equipped to handle super human freaks like Sanji. They sure didn't prepare for space age lazer beams though.
-
Well, Sanji kick to the talking samurai head can crack the wall. Dunno why he kicked only the solid door and not the wall surround it though..

That was a gag, don't take it seriously.

That is a very valid point.

Anyone have an idea where I could get 658 when it comes out, I'm not waiting two months so Alpha is out of the question; sorry if you feel differently.

Mangareader, Manga Fox, etc…
thank you sir, also thank you for not shoving the morality speech down my pie hole. :)

MangaFox removed One Piece this week. :/
Go with MangaReader for now.

I agree. Its not offical in the manga but in the anime (G8 arc) the Marines said they had special type of metal, re-inforced with Seastone, which does more than just negate DF powers when the DF user touches the stone. SeaStone is said to be one of the strongest natural material in the OP world.
At first I dismissed that re=inforced steel because it came up in a filler, but then we see Whitebeard unleash a Quake Punch to the barrier. It created a dent, a huge one…but it didn't break. So there is some type fo metal that can resist super strong punches and DF powers.Well, Sanji kick to the talking samurai head can crack the wall. Dunno why he kicked only the solid door and not the wall surround it though..
There is no garuentee how thick it is or that there is anything on the other side.It could be underground and that side is solid ground, Or underwater since it says DECK-102, We don't know. Look at the door and the walls, the door looks thinner than the walls. http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/7 Maybe thats why Sanji didn't hit the walls.

I usually read at site others already mentioned, Mangareader. But I went ahead and checked, OP is still up on Mangashare.com and Mangahere.com,

Hopefully we already have 3 members capable of flight by completely different means. Sanji Skywalker leads the pack with Angel Robin and Nami the Monkey Queen. Hopefully Franky doesn't ruin Team Sanji's dream with some jet pack on his back.
Sorry for the late reply. nami the monkey queen? my mind is digressing there a bit; though I could see her being able to use tornados, gales and cousins to lift her self and take of by the end of the series… I'm not quite sure about the landing part though

The Monkey King flies on a cloud like Goku on Nimbus. Namis got a cloud bridge. Not too much of a stretch. Oh! And she also has a Bo staff.

To my defense, the unemployment thing was a joke. I completely agree with you, that no matter what, every giant can find a job:P
@Katzztar:I still think that brainwah….ahhh... i mean raising them.... is only half (or 2/3rds) of the recruiting of giants. John Giant isn't the only one that has a "saving people thing" (sorry for the HP quote, couldn't help it ;) been spending time reading Harry Potter) Remember Jaguar D Saul? I don't know why I left out Saul. Yep, he's another example of a giant with good and straightforward morals.
Still, I can't really see giants willingly giving their kids to others to raise them up, unless of course the children there are all orphans. The WG might raise them up with a screwed up view on life and justice, they might be misleading them and make them not see certain things. They teach them to obey and to never question Absolute Justice. Or something like that. When talking about brainwashing, I mainly mean these kinds of things.
Then again, Saul and John seem to be more independent. I doubt anyone made them to join the marines. They are basically huge normal people.
It is the Giant Squad that makes me think about brainwashing and such. I feel it's not a common thing for giants to join either the WG or the Marines. John and Saul did that, maybe they are the exception to the rule. Having a whole squad of giants is… certainly unexpected. We didn't hear from them even though I figure they'd be famous like: "Oh god, the marines got the Admirals, but not just that, they got a bunch of giants too!" you get the idea.
Of course it can be the other way around and maybe all these marine giants joined at their own will.
However, I still find it strange how some of them look like they're from Elbaf: Ronse, Cat, BackwardsCap.Now I'm sure I'm looking too much into it. I'll stop now.

^ Nolus, I was joking with you
Sorry if you took it wrong, I should have added some sort of wording to show the joke more. -

Sorry if you took it wrong, I should have added some sort of wording to show the joke more.Don't worry, I tend to misinterpret things. You just wrote so many stuff, I thought you thought I was serious.:)
Other than the unemployment thing, I'm serious though~

still the dooor!!!
the f*ckin door!!
now one piece should change title to the door! -
. So there is some type fo metal that can resist super strong punches and DF powers.
It's Wapo-metal.

still the dooor!!!
the f*ckin door!!
now one piece should change title to the door!No one can get to Raftel because a door blocks the path.
If only they knew how to say open in the language of the Poneglyphs.

We all thought the wrath of the doors had ended after they were the reason Jinbe didn't join.

Maybe the beam was more effective because it covered a wider surface area…And melted some stuff. Sanji doesn't have giant feet, so he probably only gave it an experimental kick once, then Franky woke up.
More area doesn't mean more power. Physics says the opposite, force per area is penetration power (and pressure), so less area but same force means better effectiveness to breaking the door.
Franky's attack not only was high-energy, but it was concentrated at a small point, so it had extreme piercing power. It was also a beam, so it melted the metal, and as the energy spread, a wider coverage of metal melted.

@Superbear:

Considering the fact that I don't have access to SJA due to my non-American status and have to survive through scanlations, I don't have the right to give any morality speech.

Speaking of which: Where IS 658? I didn't see any announcements or notes that OP is out for the next/this week, did I miss something?
-
Yes, yes you did. One Piece is on break this issue.
-
-
So Luffy killed a dragon, then ate, then got its powers…
Luffykiin anybody? -
Everybody just needs to shut up about the door already. Yes, we know Franky busted it down and Sanji didn't, but it doesn't mean anything more than that Oda just wanted to show that EVERYONE had gotten stronger over the time skip. That's all, nothing more.~
-
@Superbear:
Anyone have an idea where I could get 658 when it comes out, I'm not waiting two weeks so Alpha is out of the question; sorry if you feel differently.
Fixed .
-
I don't get why everyone's still bothered by The Door . It looks simple to me: Sanji just kicked it with a "normal" leg, Franky fired his Radical Beam at it. If Sanji would've used Diable Jamble, the door would've also been blown off (and melted). A better comparison of power would be Franky punching the door with his arm…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Mizrath:So Luffy killed a dragon, then ate, then got its powers…
Luffykiin anybody?Lol, someone needs to make a mod to replace Fus Roh Dah with Gomu Gomu No (kind of like this:
)… Or better yet, create new Shouts! -

Yeah Luffy and Zoro ate and Killed Igneel. Anyways i don't see any problem with Franky showing some skill, atleast were starting to see more and more of what the strawhats are capable of.

Yes. All the doors in the world shall watch out for the Strawhats.
-
Ze doors are the arch enemy of human kind, did you not know?
But why is everyone arguing over who should be able to destroy the door?? it's a ******* door not (as Sanji (or zoro) said in gyncorde plaza) "the marine elites or anything"
More importantly they have a talking severed head with them, that seems a little more key to the story then who breaks down a door…
-
What are you guys talking about? What is so special about blowing away a door anyway? If you want to see how strong the SHP are then show each one falling down a flight of stairs. Whoever survives is the strongest.
I wonder did Brook wake up yet and when will here come to join his fellow SHP?
-
Guys, Blueno is the Shichibukai, he can create doors.
Blueno's Revolving Door for nakama! -
Blueno door skills increased that much, that only Franky was able to defeat the special prison door
BTW Why did the idiots just haven't kicked/punched the damn wall instead of the iron door?
Sanji was able to crack it with ease kicking samurai's head in it LOL
-
AP is steadily devolving…

This seems to be true, hahaha.

One Piece has always had a complicated relationship with doors…...
Remember Minatomo:
-
To exit an impenetrable room not through a door but through a wall? That's prepostorous, genius thinking that only the brightest minds of the current era are capable of.
!

I find it almost funny how you didn't post the HxH reference. I mean… It's practically what they do. Can't get through the door? It's k, wall was weaker.
