I was kind of surprised as well, but then I checked Funimation's twitter page that confirmed it being aired tonight.

I was shocked that they went back to airing anime at all, but they aired Fairy Tails, Naruto Shippuden, Pokemon this week so. Any who can't wait to see Kidd again and finally see Luffy up and awake, he's been passed out for a while now

Well, you could see Brownbeard's midsection in there at the back.
Can't say this was a bad episode. Deguchi's art wasn't derpy like it tends to be. I loved the part where Ivankov leaps onto Law's sub and makes it briefly sink like that.
Bepo filler is actually surprisingly entertaining.
Best part of the episode has got to be the no name pirates pissing on that random towns celebration. What was with the close up on the old man with the pipe?

For a transitional chapter, this was a good episode. Even though they mixed up the order a bit, it flowed nicely. The Supernova part could have been a bit longer but it doesn't matter.
Next week looks good. Apparently, they're adding the scene where Luffy wakes up and rushes into the forest, destroying everything in his path. Good stuff.

I really thought this was an okay episode. It didn't have many huge issues with pacing, and no still shots. I thought the music was also paired to the scenes way better than usual.

if the earthquake in japan that had recently happened was prior to the episode a few weeks back of when Whitebeard unleashed a tsunami and split the land in half
would Toei have had the balls to actually air that? I certainly couldn't see a situation where they would put those images on television if it had aired after the earthquake

Not so random, actually. His name is Brandnew, he's appeared before when Luffy got his first bounty iirc.

If it's been a few weeks, then yeah, probably. It would probably have gone under a lot of debate, though; if they really didn't air it, it would definitely be a blow to the overall overview of Whitebeard's power and leave several plotholes within the story, though.
But I think they would probably air it. Although, that's just my opinion.
Surprisingly decent episode, though felt like they were trying to tread water time-wise for stretches of the first half. Next week's ep looks unexpectedly epic.

-Scene with the Supernovas was cool.
-Kid's laugh is creepy as fuck.
-No Brownbeard??? They just hinted at him? What?.
-The animation and art were really good during the Level 6 flashback
-Sengoku is NOT pleased.
-RIP Moria......really.
-The order of events was out of place in this episode. I guess they wanted a better cliffhanger.
-Bepo filler was meeeeeh.
-They also cut out Ivankov's line about Luffy's torment was enough to break two minds.

You know, rereading chapter 582, nothing much happens, except for Luffy destroying the forest. I'm suddenly happier that they've decided to expand on next week's episode with filler. Should be good.
Was Pwngoat that adorable in the manga?
And Bepo is not annoying in this one.
I also liked the handling of Bonney, Hawkins and especially Apoo's parts. ^_^

No one else noticed how they changed the story by saying BB let out selected level 6 prisoners rather than having them all fight to the death? It wasn't all that shocking but I didn't like it and I'm suprised not to see any comments on it.
I thought it was good with a side of great, but they need to vary the music a little more. It didn't really elicit a reaction from me. Well, except for the first part with everyone cheering with happy-go-lucky music; that was a little bizarre seeing everyone cheer for the Marines' victory considering our heroes are pirates. They have quite a few from the movies that I haven't heard in the anime yet. Strong World stuff I hope they're saving for after the… you know... though. Other than that, can't think of a complaint except that Bepo is the new Buggy.
8.5/10 'cause of Bepo

Man this episode was pretty darn bad. The animation wasn't too great. Even considering the source material it jumps around too much and feels disconnected and what the hell is up with the lack of music (and sound effects for that matter) during the Ivankov scene, were they even trying? Also no Brownbeard.

They showed BB himself in ID and tell it to the prisoners. So there is no need to let them repeat that in a conversation by the Marines.
